Perfect light lunch stop at outside table before catching the train home. Panko chicken was very tasty, with a choice of salads. Good ginger beer too!

We happened on Lilly's Cafe, as if guided by the Angels. We had a breakfast of good quality, quantity and the service came with a smile and with pleasure. Can not think of one bad thing to say.Sadly, the next day we thought we'd try somewhere different - BIG MISTAKE!!! The antithesis of Lilly's.

It’s great to find a good quality, independent coffee shop that offers real competition to the chains. Coffee and pastry lovers like me really like supporting these businesses. However, whilst I accept that prices are going to be a little higher, there’s a limit to the premium that I’m prepared to pay. I’ve only recently moved to Windsor, so I’m still learning about the various establishments at the eating end of Peascod Street, and I will definitely return to Lilly’s to try some of the other items on the menu. But I won’t be having the tuna mayonnaise on sourdough at £7.50 again since I thought at that price there ought to be some crisps and/or some coleslaw or perhaps some pickled vegetables? It’s clearly a family run establishment, and it’s lovely to have found it, so I hope they don’t don’t fall into the trap of increasing prices in order to compensate for reduced covers during the Covid fallout period.

We visited this little cafe whilst walking around Windsor and popped in as it started to rain.As other reviews have mentioned, the staff are not exactly friendly. They may seem rude compared to the British customer service culture, but they seem to have an air of "German efficiency" rather than outright impoliteness. It did annoy me to begin with, especially as its not a particularly cheap cafe, with sandwiches coming in at around £7/£8 and cake slices at £3.95.However, like I said, I realised that it was more 'getting the job done' rather than making you feel welcomed. The annoyance soon dissipated when I tasted the coffee though. We both had a flat white and I can honestly say that it was up there as one of the best coffees I've ever had. No exaggeration! It. Was. Perfect!I had a slice of the Courgette, lime and pistachio cake and, although it stung at £3.95, was also an outstanding cake! So much so that my girlfriend has promised to try and recreate it, it was so good! She had the raspberry and lemon shortbread and was equally as impressed. If you are expecting a Disney-esque welcome, you won't get it. But you WILL get the best coffee and food that you'll probably ever try. Ever!

Not so much as a hello, how are you?, would you like a menu? on entering the premises. Had to ask for a menu. The lady behind the counter was miserable and extremely rude when I asked for a menu. She didn't even answer me but pointed to a stack on the counter. Following the dreadful service and very overpriced menu, my husband and I walked out. Nothing traditional on the menu. Full English? No chance. Don't bother. Much better friendlier establishments that offer better service and value for money.

I popped in for coffee and a smoothie when visiting Windsor. This is a good, popular cafe. I didn’t eat but the food looks fresh and delicious (cake, salads etc) and people around me were happily tucking in. I went on the recommendation of the man from the fudge shop as I walked up the hill into Windsor. (I should have bought some of the sour cherry fudge, it was amazing, and bright pink naturally from the cherries. Fool.) This cafe was a nice contrast to all of the boringly familiar chains and look-alike places that occupied much of the rest of Windsor. You can sit outside, in a little area on the pedestrianised road, and watch the world go by. (Good selection of charity shops in the area - got some books and a nice coat in mint condition.)

I will not visit the chain establishments as I want to support local cafes who provide non - corporate mass produced food. This Cafe is a prime example. My wife and I had the ham,Brie sandwich. The sandwiches was generously filled with good quality ingredients. The bread was very tasty also. Normally I would have cake afterwards but did not have the capacity to indulge myself. My brother and his wife had the bacon and egg sandwich and the courgette soup, both really enjoyed the food. Like myself they had no room for cake. I really want to give this place a higher rating because because the lady who runs it was really sweet and kind, the food is good and the children's play area is great. But our second visit was very unpleasant. The staff was rude-- the big guy with the accent that takes your order was bizarrely condescending because I didn't know that I was supposed to order 2 salads not 1 (silly me for not knowing... no one gave me a menu until he sternly handed me one). Then for my coffee, when I asked if I could have some sugar, the female barista with dark hair yelled at me for not knowing that the sugar was in the children's play area table (again, silly me for not knowing this obvious fact). When it was my sister-in-law's turn to order, she ordered tea and when she told the same cashier which kind of tea she wanted, he curtly said they already started the order so she can't change it anymore. My sister-in-law's is a big tea fan and she was very disappointed that she didn't have an opportunity to select which tea she wanted.

We chose this restaurant for lunch because it was an independent one (not in a chain). It was described outside as 'Family Run'. We found that the service was welcoming, friendly and quick with the tables being cleaned properly when they had been vacated. The menu was simple but it was difficult to choose between all the delicious meals listed. I chose poached eggs on toast with avocado, dressed rocket and cherry tomatoes. The eggs were properly poached and the yolks just right for me. Mmm. A very good meal for £7.50.

The tourists come to Windsor, eat at Tourist traps then give said trap a high review. They are wrong. At the time of writing this review Lilly's is 58th in Windsor. It should be top 10 minimum. Easily the best coffee in Windsor. They do have a great breakfast & lunch menu. The cafe is warm, welcoming and accommodating. I think Windsor is lacking in independent individual style cafés, there are plenty of chains and places catering for the masses. Today, my family and I went to Lilly's and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it served really tasty freshly made sandwiches with fillings different to the run of the mill sandwich shops with interesting side salads. They also sell fresh homemade soup. They're cakes and flapjacks looked really tasty but I'll have to go back for one of those as I had no room left. We went back later for a coffee when they were about to close as they welcomed us in. The coffee was excellent (Union Coffee), probably the best coffee I've found in Windsor. It's a large space so room for a pram or two and easy access. All in all, we were all very impressed and will definitely be going again. Hopefully to try their breakfast one of these days.

This was nice but an expensive place to eat and drink. The food was lovely and the coffee was OK but the prices were sky high for what they were. Same really as it has got so much going for it but in the crowded high street it won't last given the competition.

I stumbled across this little gem! Lovely, fresh made food! My mum has ordered chicken pesto and I have ordered the pistachio-courgette cake ! I'm very impressed with the selection! I don't understand the negativity about the prices ?!? Everything was cheaper and nicer than regular chains! Highly recommended!

We popped in here for a quick bite initially due to its lovely sunny location and attractive seating area.

We came across this very well run family café, the coffee was typically continental, smooth and creamy, although the skinny option, free water on the counter, fragranced with fresh mint.

So good I went there twice. First day a delicious berry smoothy. Met Lilly who is charming. Second day take away sandwiches which my husband declared to be the best ever! Really good sandwiches. It is a great spot for Coffee, lunch or tea. Currently closes at 5pm but apparently plans to open later soon.

When the lady brought our coffees over, I thought she either has the wrong table, or she is serving mice. The cups were so small. But same prices as Costa or Cafe Nero. I can get a medium latte for the same price!!!

Personeel, volgens mij een vader met 2 zonen, runnen dit koffie tentje. Niet heel vrolijk en hartelijk geholpen. Cappuccino was goed. Muffins waren oud en droog. Ook de aankleding en inrichting niet heel gezellig. Hier naartoe (om)gereden vanwege de goede recensies, maar zonde vd tijd.

Don’t listen to the negative reviews. Remember, you’re eating a baked donut. It’s going to taste a little different. Loved it and the owner was very nice.
