Le Coq in Shepway

Whole roast chicken, chips & coleslaw for two, plus a glass of wine each, for £40 including service - it was a bargain as well as having fast and friendly service - highly recommended!

Booked by the wife as a mid week treat, we should of complained really but we had received friendly service and I felt awkward to complain as they where quite, with only one other table occupied and for this reason I kept my mouth shut, myself and my three children had the Crispy chicken burger, the roll was soggy the chicken burger that seemed to consist of only crispy coating and no chicken, which was just about warm, chips where ok. Very small portion of what was sold as sour dough with a tonne of butter in proportion. I’m giving it a 2 star rating as my wife enjoyed her pulled chicken meal and the staff where friendly. I’m not big on reviews but I needed to say something as I’d sooner have gone to KFC, and that’s saying something, what a shame.

Based in a converted shipping container on the Harbour Arm in Folkestone this has seating inside and outside with great views towards the white cliffs. It specialises in rotisserie chicken but there are other options too. We had bread and olives to start and then shared a whole chicken between us. It was delicious and moist and served with chips a great coleslaw and a very nice lemon and garlic dipping sauce. For dessert we had a crème brûlée and berries with meringue and cream, both of which were very good. Drinks are very reasonably priced as was the whole meal. Service was friendly and professional and we’ll definitely be back. We visited on a Sunday night when many restaurants are closed and at 7 o’clock it was quiet but people kept arriving so when we left at 8:30 there were still two couples eating.

We came because of the offers we saw online - 2 chicken burgers and chips and 2 pints was £12.50 each. Burgers were really nice and there were a lot of (really nicely seasoned) chips. Staff were attentive and friendly - we will definitely be back soon.

Limited menu. Good food. Price/quality ratio about right. We both had a starter-ceaser salad for me. Pea soup for her. Both good quality but not exceptional. Shared a whole chicken. Decent quality with nice and what appeared to be homemade skin on fries with decent homemade chicken gravy. No pudding. Nice service and friendly. £50 for the two of us to include service charge and one glass of more than acceptable Sauvignon Blanc and a Coke. So well recommended and worth a solid four. What marks this place out is it’s located on the harbour side overlooking the sea and harbour arm. Beautiful. So will definitely return.

Folkestone harbour arm is something else, what a transformation to the town, lovely bars and restaurants along the way. Searching for our next watering hole and came across a Venue with a huge cock outside - no , not what you're thinking 🤔. Anyhow, ,2 glasses of prosecco for £10, let's do it. Chateau August 2023, a mix of finest carbonated domestos with a hint of toilet duck, served on draught in poundlands finest plastic flutes. After the initial sip, one eye closing and the face contouring with a shudder, this was hastily returned to the bar. Replaced by something similar but this time in a real glass made of real glass. 3/5 cos the staff were tip top. Menu looks good tho, but unsure of what I'd be served up as the place is called Le coq

A great roast chicken restaurant with an amazing view across the English Channel. Very friendly staff, excellent service and great food. The halloumi fires are amazing.

4th time to Le Coq, and again this is just a great place for chicken, really tasty, nicely presented and good service at exactly the right price,

A delicious chicken and chips followed by excellent crème brûlée. The staff were friendly. The restaurant was immaculate. Gorgeous views of France and we ended with a walk along the beach. A great place to go with friends.

Marvellous chicken, perfectly cooked and very moist. The chips are just as good being crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Generous portion of sole-slaw. They also offer two good vegetarian choices. Good selection of wine by the glass. Service was friendly and efficient. Not so sure about the puds the chocolate moose was solid chocolate and other choices were not available.

All round appalling. Between the ridiculous pricing and the disgusting treatment of staff this place should not be running! Forcing a 6 month old teenager to scrub the floors and lift heavy trays is unethical! Mistreatment of all staff, not paying them what they are owed and withholding their rightful tips that they earned is criminal! Starting and running a business with no previous experience is a ridiculous idea. Getting rid of experienced staff to replace them with 16 year olds so you can pay them £5.28 an hour! Disgusting! This place should be shut down! Such a shame it’s taking up space in such a nice area

We ate here and it was great! Very polite, attentive staff and the food was amazing! The chicken was perfectly cooked and so tasty. The staff clearly care and are passionate about what they do and the premises are spotless as a result. We will definitely call again in next time we are visiting.

We went out for dinner at Le Coq a fantastic seaside restaurant that presents well cooked exiting chicken dishes and sides. We had a fantastic evening the food was really good and the service attentive. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening and would recommend it

My wife and I decided to go for a nice dinner along the harbour arm when we discovered a new restaurant. We decided to be seated in Le Coq but as we were I couldn’t help but notice how dirty the table and menus were....

We are a family with 2 x 5 year olds. All ordered Chicken and chips , Chicken dry and overcooked, chips were good. Service was terrible.. Most importantly (and the main reason for one star) the kitchen is open and the staff were sharing stories...
