I had such a fantastic experience at this Turkish restaurant — from the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and full of charm. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. The food was outstanding — every dish was full of rich, authentic flavours. The grilled meats were perfectly cooked, tender and juicy, and the meze selection was fresh and packed with taste. The bread came out warm and fluffy, just how it should be. Portions were generous, prices were fair, and everything was beautifully presented. You can really tell they care about quality and customer experience. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving genuine Turkish food — I’ll definitely be coming back!

So so tasty food and great service. We had the mixed platter and it was more than enough for 2 people..the bread was delicious. We were so full we couldn't get a pudding. We will be there again soon to get that kunefe.

We had a warm welcome by Alex he made me the most amazing cocktail absolutely Divine my partner had a peach beer which he said tasted amazing Alex talked us through the drinks menu very patiently. We were booked into a restaurant and ended up cancelling as the vibes here were so great live jazz band and amazing smelling food. We stayed for a meal and it was 10/10 no question will definitely be returning

Our birthday celebration at Turkuaz was a major disappointment. Despite a reservation, we waited 15 minutes for our table, then 45 minutes for drinks, and a full hour for starters. While the starters were good, the mains felt rushed, and dessert was hurried due to the late hour. Service was appalling; we were ignored, plates weren't cleared, and we constantly chased staff. Our 3-course meal took three hours! They only apologized when I refused the service charge. Avoid Turkuaz.

Turkuaz Restaurant & Bar, Newbury – A Taste of Turkey with a Side of… British Reserve? If you can’t quite make it to Istanbul for dinner, Turkuaz in Newbury is the next best thing. Stylish, authentic, and packed with all the rich, smoky, and spice-laden flavors you’d expect from a proper Turkish feast. We kicked things off with the falafel starter, which was so good it nearly had us booking flights to Cappadocia. Light, crispy, and perfectly seasoned—none of that dry, flavorless stuff you sometimes get elsewhere. Then came the mains: the Mixed Shish Grill, delivering juicy, flame-kissed perfection, and the Mousaka, a rich, indulgent dish that had us scraping the plate like we hadn’t eaten in days. Now, let’s talk about the rakı—or rather, the Turkish wine. Did I mention it? Because I should. Smooth, well-paired, and a welcome change from the usual suspects on a wine list. Worth ordering, even if just to feel momentarily transported to a rooftop terrace in Bodrum. Prices are a little on the high side, with a service charge already added (a very sultanic move, if you ask us). But hey, you’re paying for quality, and given the location, it’s no surprise. The only thing missing? A bit of that famous Turkish warmth. The staff were efficient, professional, and… well, let’s just say they weren’t about to pull up a chair and share their grandmother’s baklava recipe. But if you can live without the extra charm, the food more than makes up for it. Would we go back? Absolutely. Next time, we’ll just pretend we’re in a bustling Istanbul meyhane and hope the staff warm up to us after a few more glasses of that fantastic Turkish wine.

Went on a Sunday evening, so not very busy. Food was very good and the service was excellent, menu looks interesting, so will probably return to experience more from the menu.

Left for almost 2 hors waiting for food, while they brought us 2 wrong orders, other people ware coming in and being served before us, food came incomplete, they try to charge us double plus the amount that we have orderd, than charged us fo food we did not had.... avoid at all costs!!!

Awful service, our table was booked for 7pm on 14th Feb, valentines day. So as a business you would think they would be prepared for the restaurant to be busy. We waited 1 hour and 45 mins for out food to arrived, we finally asked and they brand it out 5 mins later. The waiter said “sorry we are busy” I responded well you should be busy, would you rather be quiet, restaurants are suppose to be busy. Rude service, other couples next to us also waited the same time, people are frustrated and unhappy, rubbish valentine meal. Food- awful, lamb sarma beyi, dont bother, tasted like burnt bread. Never will we come here again. Waste of money.

Absolutely fabulous food. Huge portions (we massively over ordered because everything looked great, even the salads were done with care). Came here with my mum for her bday in a group of six. All of us were impressed. As a vegan, they were so careful about my dishes and very accommodating. The meat eaters said the flavour and presentation was beautiful/meat was melt in the mouth. Best falafel I’ve ever had. My aubergine and rice main was stunning. The service was perfect - friendly, speedy but not overbearing. Can’t wait to have leftovers again for lunch tomorrow.

Pretty good but slightly let down by the quality of ingredients.. Would stand out much more if they used quality feta, halloumi etc.. and made falafels fresh.

Best range of vegetarian food in Newbury as well as excellent meat, especially the lamb! Lovely atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Great views of the market place on one side and of the lock on the other side. Great flavours, friendly and helpful. We have been back a dozen times over the last two years.

Booked 2 weeks ago on the online system, arrived tonight to find they didn’t have my booking and they only had a hand-written table plan. Totally disorganised and when we asked if they could still seat us: “No, we’re fully booked”. No apology either. Really poor service.

Love the food. There was a new waitress serving us. She did her best but didn't seem to have had much training. One other member of staff blamed her for mistakes, which seemed unfair. I hope she stays as she was really nice. Update a year on ... that nice waitress didn't stay! We ate here on New Year's Eve - early with no booking, so we're glad to get a table. The set menu was delicious. It was a shame that the boss lady sat down near us, loudly telling her staff what to do and watching videos on her phone, when she wasn't bossing people around. Please ask your staff to eat their dinner somewhere other than the restaurant. And don't have loud staff discussions in front of diners!

I came from Istanbul. I live in Turkey. I ate a terrific lentil soup and a portion of meatballs. I liked it very much. It is also a very nice place with very friendly and sincere staff.

The food was excellent and the staff attentive. It was a little quiet for a Friday night but someone knew all the best songs to play so it wasn't quiet. A little expensive I felt but I left well fed and having thoroughly enjoyed everything I tasted.

Great little restaurant in the middle of Newbury. The food is rather flavorful and the staff are lovely. They were so good to me, my wife, and my ten month old son. They doted on him endlessly. The food is well priced as well. Check out this hidden gem.

I had a disappointing experience with friends passing by diner at this restaurant. While the decor was nice and it wasn’t too crowded, the food took a long time to arrive and seemed overpriced for Turkish cuisine. The portions were disappointingly small, and the absence of complimentary bread, a common offering elsewhere, was a letdown. Additionally, the staff, with the exception of one lady, didn’t seem very welcoming to our group of 12. It’s unlikely that I’ll return.

First visit here, very nice food, nicely presented and served by serving staff that knew the menu.

Mid week lunch with four generations, everyone loved the food. We had the lunch menu and shared all the plates, so much flavour and beautifully presented. Will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone wanting a delicious and good value meal. The two year old particularly liked the cheese pide.

The Chicken I've ordered was perfectly cooked, full of flavour and very nicely presented. We were very well taken care of and the staff were accomodating! Already went back since my first visit and will definitely be back again, and again!

Who knew that this place exists in Newbury just walking distance from the city centre. I have been having Turkish cuisine for a while, this is one of the best. The atmosphere is great, the staff are amazing and the price is very reasonable. I have been coming to Newbury for years for business. I decided to try a new place and what a pleasant surprise. Food was lovely but service was not great. As usual for Newbury it wasn't busy but the staff didn't appear to be that attentive and decided wiping tables was better than dealing with people eating in there restaurant. Decided to skip dessert and went somewhere else

We went for the hot and cold Mezzi which is a real treat. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable.

We had lunch at Turkuaz today for the first time, been meaning to go for an age. What an experience, service was amazing and personable (thank you Mo). The food was out of this world and served within minutes. We’ll be regulars from now on. They even excused my poor (Northern) pronunciation of the dishes we ordered. If, like us you’ve never been please give them a go.

A shining star in Newbury! Where to begin... Best Turkish restaurant and even the best restaurant in Newbury so far, and I am saying that as a Turkish person. The service, the warmth of its owners& hosts, the generous portion of super delicious Turkish food, the baklava, genuine Turkish tea in traditional Turkish glasses, complimentary Turkish delights. Everything in the menu was prepared with great quality, care and love. You can feel it to the maximum. Great selection of Turkish music, so it is a bit of fresh air for visitors from every country if you ask me. Thank you guys, now you are my go to restaurant in Newbury!

I'd heard good reviews about Turkuaz and it being family run but got to experience it for the first time this evening, and will definitely be returning. Lovely food and energetic waiters. The only downside was that I ate too much, and that's all my own fault! Also, 10/10 for the Turkish red wine. I'd never tried Turkish wine before.

Nice lunch break. Would be 5 star on the food, the lamachum and kofte were both very nice, the hummus & starter bread were great, but the bread in both of the mains was hard and the tea is just tea bag in a small cup ... I like my tea 😁

Great food but diabolical service. Food was great and I highly recommend that along with great cocktails. The service was very bad. A party of 11 and it took 2hrs to get the mains. Originally it took 20mins to get drinks, when ordering more drinks some never arrived and had to re ask for them countless times. A few of us had starters which took a long time to come. We asked for a starter to come with our main but it came out with the rest of the starters. He only offered to take it back and "keep it warm". So it would just be sat in the kitchen and not fresh. After 2hrs 3 mains arrived. After 5 mins the rest came out not before asking where the rest of the mains were with the response "I don't know" Everything was very slow and it was a case of having to keep asking for the same things over and over. Maybe we got this place on a bad day but it wasn't overly busy. It's a shame as the service to me ruined a what would be 5* review/meal.

Food is amazing. All the glamorous atmosphere were ruined when employee from this place opened the doors to tarrace overlooking the river and dumped the rubish to the water (!) Never seen anything similar to this. Thats illegal and eco-unfriendly.
