Another great meal at The Harrow. Food is always spot on and staff are super friendly. We enjoyed Camembert sharing starter. Also has the pan roast Cornish hake and the excellent bavette steak which is my favourite dish on the menu and the pie of the day which was also delicious.

What a brilliant pub! Stopped with a mate as we were cycling part of the Ridgeway and saw the sign. Landlady was so friendly, she saw us pull up on our bikes and asked us what drinks we would like whilst we sorted ourselves out. She was attentive all during our visit, bringing out menus and extra drinks. (Thank you). There was a local cricket match being played on the green opposite, a thoroughly entertaining game. Sat in the sunshine with a drink, excellent club sandwich and watching the cricket in a beautiful old pub garden doesn't get much more British!

This is rapidly becoming our go to place. We had another fantastic meal last night - recently redoecorated with great ambiance. Food was excellent and desserts were also exceptional - the brownie was some of the best ever apparently. Lots of nice walks from the pub also and there's a cricket pitch right in front

Met an old friend for lunch yesterday. The food and the service were excellent. However, from our table in the pub the wonderful view over the cricket square, for which the pub is famous, was obscured because a horsebox - presumably used occasionally for functions elsewhere judging by the signage on it - was parked semi-permanently slap bang in front of the window! Surely another location must be available either on site or elsewhere in the village to store this large obstruction? An otherwise very enjoyable visit was therefore marred for us. Shame.

Perfect village pub overlooking the cricket pitch nestled in the North Wessex downs. Food so much better than you'd expect. Not just the usual fish n chips and burgers, but a choice of interesting dishes. Great quality, brilliantly cooked and very tasty. Well worth seeking out if you're in the area.

Expensive. Do not assume that items from the bar will be similar prices to other pubs. Check the price of everything you order to avoid nasty surprises. ============================================== EDIT: I posted the above as a 2-star review. I now see that another reviewer also complained about the prices, mentioning £17.50 for cod and chips (in 2023), and the pub replied to that review with "Hi we are now reopen (June) under new management hopefully we can change your 1 star into 5 stars" as if to imply that the complaint was no longer relevant. In fact the pub's website now says £18 for cod and chips (March 2024), so clearly their complaint is still relevant, so I find the pub's response rather disingenuous. In view of this, I am modifying my own rating to 1-star. Just to be clear, my own visit was in 2024, not earlier.

This is absolutely not a family pub, do not take any children here!!!! One of the landlords shockingly told my sister in law to keep her one year old quiet as EVERY SINGLE person in the pub has complained at her excited squealing. My sister in law was so upset and made to feel embarrassed as she was trying everything anyway to keep her one year old quiet and happy, she then ended up crying. We were made to feel terrible about it, on top of that they also ignored us and didn’t come to the table once to serve us drinks! The food was not worth the money even though we tried to salvage a good time after the upset! Very average food for above average prices! Very very upsetting experience, will not be going back even though we are local- ish. Absolute shame! On top of this we pre ordered food and were made to feel so bad and awkward that we left before puddings came out and they still charged us for the puddings!!! If you have kids avoid, if you want fine dining avoid, if you want pub grub avoid! I think local villagers are only welcome here I’m afraid

Good place, the ambience was nice and the food was okay. I found one thing that's not up to my imagination was the side dish I got when I ordered Chicken Biryani. I got Sambar as side dish. As an Indian, I haven't had Sambar as side dish for any Biryani. Usually it's served with curd.

Very authentic, fresh and tasty Thai food! My partner has traveled extensively in the far east and I am very fond of Asian cuisine so when we relocated to Reading two years ago one target was to find a good Thai. This was the first time we have been to The Turners Arms and we will be back! We started with the mixed starter for two which is an excellent selection of traditional Thai starters, all very tasty and hard to find any fault. The mains were the Duck special and the Pad Kraphaw, also with duck. Both dishes were mild in terms of heat but very flavoursome, from the freshness of the vegetables and distinct flavours in the dish it is obvious these were cooked fresh to order. Great old pub surroundings and we will look forward to visiting again when the fire is lit as that would perfect the cozy pub atmosphere.
