Served by Archie, great service and there was no problem to adjust the menu item a bit. Food was also good and served fast.

Great tasting food and nice selection of drinks. Kids eat a 2x course meal free during school holidays so definitely a win! Nice burgers, good service and a nice place to eat.

Great place to eat, really friendly staff, only issues are no table service and they add service charge to your bill when ordering on the phone...what's the table service charge for without the interaction of them taking your order...?

Usually liked Bills in the past, ordered some Santorini salads and I think in principal it sounded better than what we got. Firstly the portions were MASSIVE. The photo doesn’t really show this but we couldn’t finish it. We got nowhere near to finishing it. If we had known how big it was going to be, we would have shared. I even asked the waiter if anyone has ever finished this salad before and he said no. Chicken that we ordered extra could have been cooked to order instead of dry and refrigerated and the salad was too wet because of the huge amounts of watermelon (they just put HUGE slabs of watermelon in it) I understand that giving people their moneys worth for the salad is important (with extras like the chicken, it was close to £20) but the solution isn’t to give LOADS of salad, it’s to refine it and that would definitely have made it worthwhile- less is more! If you disagree and think the photo I’ve provided looks £20 worth then go for it- but I hoped and expected more.

I took my daughter for pancakes hoping for a lovely place to revisit. The staff were lovely, the surroundings good. The pancakes, however, left a lot to be desired. My bacon and syrup pancakes were poor. The pancakes themselves cooked well but the bacon was barely cooked and the smallest amount of butter used so it was all very dry, even with the syrup. My daughter’s ’fruit’ pancakes similarly dry and the fruit…. Two small halved strawberries, 4 thin slices of banana and 6 blueberries. Hardly generous. Very disappointing!!! £20 not well spent

Amazing vegan breakfast ("The Plant Plate"). Had never had the "Ogg" eggs before; was afraid they'd be too much like chicken eggs. They were light and fluffy and delicious with the Sriracha sauce provided, and not "eggy" at all. Everything else was equally tasty, if more familiar. We both ordered the same thing, and loved every bite. Wish I could give more than 5 stars for the food. Service was fast and friendly. Go there!

We only had cheese toasties but no salad garnish, served with a packet of crisps. Have been here before, very enjoyable main course, maybe an off day today.

Fantastic food, super tasty, and plenty to fill you up. Service was perfect, could not have been any better. The atmosphere was pretty chill, very nice environment to be in.

We dined in as a table of 15 for a birthday party. Archie was absolutely excellent, kept us well looked after and was great. Food was enjoyable as always.

I visited yesterday with my daughter and her bridesmaids-to-be and enjoyed a delicious lunch all served to us by the lovely Caroline, the best waitress you could hope for in every way. She made our visit so enjoyable that we are all now making plans to come again soon. Thank you Caroline, you’re a credit to the restaurant!

Had a brilliant night all to the thanks of Archie. Was only staying for a drink but ended up staying the evening. Archie looked after us so well, entertained us, and thanks to him we enjoyed a great evening of lovely drinks and tasty food. Highly recommend and look out for Archie. He is a legend!

This was strange as I expected cafe so when met with a guy that showed us to a table. A posh concept for a cafe but I have to say say the man was very professional and good at his job as were all of the serving staff. The surroundings were very nice too apart from one family where the children were behaving very badly without parental intervention. Dangerous with hot food and drink around. My problem was with the food, it did not match the rest. I had a breakfast consisting of two eggs ( one was overcooked and the other undercooked to the point where the white was unco ), mushroom which were overcooked and dry ( I suspect they were not very fresh ). I had swapped the Cumberland sausage for extra bacon which was tough and rubbery very much like my one and only attempt to cook it in a microwave. There was a tomato but it was not cooked which is an optional taste I know. The only thing which met expectations was the lightly toasted sourdough bread with real butter. So the food side was the main complaint. One other point is that all of Newbury seems to accept card payments only, coming from an IT security environment, is short sighted and an easy was to force a service charge. To me a service charge is a tip which is dependant service and quality of the food at that single transaction. Did not see any notices advising of each policy till it came time to pay which is, arguably, theft. So thanks to excellent service staff but due to the quality of the food and the way the place is managed I will not return.

We were celebrating my father’s 89th birthday. The staff on arrival were very attentive, the restaurant itself is elegantly and tastefully decorated, with a truly homely feel. We were shown to our table which was perfect for our large family group. The delicious food was served promptly. The staff were aware it was a birthday celebration and suggested for a bit of fun to serve a birthday brownie after our meal with sparklers and candles finishing off a lovely experience. We all agreed staff were faultless

The food was good, the service was great. Although I hope to see more variety on the menu in future. There used to be lots of choice but now there is not much. Would come back again staff were all lovely and welcoming :)

The food I had was nearly perfect (I'm fairly fussy). Could not fault the service. The staff were very attentive and chatty. The place is nicely decorated and clean. I will definitely return again and try the dinner menu.

Brilliant breakfast outside at Bills in Newbury. Met by the Manager in a super bright ‘duck shirt’ so kind and helpful. Amazing lady called Caroline looked after us, she made our visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend Bills for a perfect Breakfast, Dog Friendly, great staff, lovely atmosphere, highly recommended, thank you.

We sat in the lounge which had self service however were still greeted and assisted by our wonderful waitress Rihanna. The grain bowl was very tasty and a vegan option. Would come here again.

We really enjoyed it and had a great time. The food was good especially the chips which has rosemary on and salt and it was so so hot, which you don’t see in usual restraunt . The Menu has a sufficient amount of options and this what you love to see. The service was great especially Archie who looked after us thoroughly, throughout the night. Thanks Bill

Never disappoints, Archie served us today and was really great with our 3 year old, chatting away and really attentive. This is the best place for food and service in Newbury bar none! All the staff have the same positive, friendly attitude and it clearly comes from the leadership of the management staff who are great. We're very lucky to have this place so local to us.

Nicely decorated, plenty of choice for vegetarians (not found everywhere here). Immediately received water and glasses on the table, also experienced for the first time here in Newbury. Super nice. Salad was delicious and of a good size - very good in terms of price and quality. And very friendly service.

First time here and it was the best vegan breakfast I've had. I had an extra of smashed avocado along with my plant plate breakfast. It was presented beautifully and tasted divine! The staff were friendly and I loved the decor. Really nice place - will definitely return! The blue light card is accepted here.

Had a couple of hours to kill in Newbury, wanted breakfast and google gave me this gem. Really nice place. Food is a solid 3/5 nothing special, could be way better at this price point. Service was excellent and friendly, i think it was Hope who served me. For a Monday morning, she was friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return next time I'm in town

Had a lovely breakfast brunch for my sister's 26th Birthday. Service was INCREDIBLE. The lovely Gents name wasn't on the receipt but I was at table 60 between 12pm and 1.30 on Sunday 14th July 2024.

Caroline looked after us and she was lovely! Friendly, chatty and clearly keeping an eye out to help us throughout, even when it was busy.

I met a friend here for breakfast on a Sunday morning, there was a great atmosphere and all the staff were really attentive and pleasant, Sam was especially chatty and friendly. A clean and comfortable place to spend a few hours catching up.

Love the decor, really looks lovely. The staff were brilliant. But let down for us is the new menu. We felt there was very little choice now for an evening meal. The menu is very much burgers and fried food. The chicken burger I had was luke warm and the bun was a little dry. We should have done our research in Bill's defence and would have seen the choice. If you like burgers though, there is a good selection.

Lovely laid back feel even at breakfast time. A good choice of seating in different areas. Attentive, friendly table staff. A varied menu to suit all tastes. Good sized pots of tea! The food was freshly cooked and delicious. We had an English breakfast and eggs benedict. It was good value for money.

Probably the best on market square unless you prefer sushi

Ordered the burger which had zero flavour, the halloumi fries arrived rock solid cold with barely any chilli sauce, and I ordered sweet potato fries and normal fries turned up. All food was cold. Not impressed as paid nearly £20!

Great meal and service everytime I visit bills! On this recent occasion Archie was fabulous at accommodating our family meal especially catering to my family visiting from USA. Always a pleasure & such a wonderful bunch!

Great team, great food! Overall experience so much better now that table service has been reintroduced - the QR system was just awful. But 10/10 to Bill's for acting on the feedback and making it great again. We look forward to our next visit!

Was able to bring my mum out for a meal for the first time in about 5 years. She was a bit nervous but the food, atmosphere and especially the staff made her nerves go away and she enjoyed every moment. Caroline was an absolute star she was warming and conversational which made my mum feel really at ease, the whole team was amazing but Caroline’s chatty warm demeanour was absolutely brilliant! Best place in Newbury for Breakfast or any other meal. Johnny, Nikki and the whole team were so lovely, accommodating to our weird requests and naturally friendly. Very accessible to families with a 1 year old. The food was banging, and the new refurb is VERY chill and comfy.

Rhys was the loviest waiter i have ever had. Made sure we were card for, recommended, joked with us and had fast service.
