Recently visited the Kings Head and had a great meal. The service and quality of food provided was excellent. Friendly and accommodating to us, whilst giving us time to enjoy the food that was provided. Quick in responding to the request to book a table at the start of the experience, but no rush during the meal so was able to enjoy the cosy and comfortable surroundings of the Kings Head. Great staff and definitely value for money in terms of menu on offer.

We visit this pub every year on our annual camping trip to Kingsdown, and received the usual warm welcome from Alex, Amanda and the lovely Rebecca. Excellent Sunday lunch, and good meal prior to the Tuesday quiz. The vegan selection is very good, and the homemade chips are amazing - that chef knows what he's doing!

We do not eat out very often due to finances but when we d we like to feel we are getting quality. Every time we eat here we love the quality. I had a burger with pineapple and bacon and it really was good. I believe it's from the local butcher. My wife had a roast (beef) and she was happy with the quality and the portion size. The staff are excellent and always make sure everything is ok. It's a treat for us to go out for lunch and this really was a lovely way to start our Christmas. 10/10 - again!

We always visit the Kings Head on our annual visit to Kingsdown, and were not disappointed with our recent visits. Traditional pub, friendly staff, good selection of ales and excellent home-cooked food. They have an interesting range of specials, in addition to their standard menu, and great choices for vegans. And the real chips are not to be missed.

We visit this lovely family owned freehouse often as we love the food and atmosphere. The menu caters for a range of tastes, and you should keep an eye out for the specials. The Landlord's special fish and chips is a particular treat, showing real vision in the kitchen. There is a great variety of drinks on offer, and you can buy a tasting sample of the ales without the need to buy blind, which I see as a great idea. There is a good selection of wines which are well priced, unlike the eye-watering prices experienced at some other establishments in the area.

A pretty pub, if a bit pokey, with a small, dark, outside rear garden with skittles. It’s a free house, so we thought we’d have an ale, or two. I had Gadds No 5. Very nice. She wanted to taste the Gouchers as we’re unfamiliar with that beer. The management wanted 50 pence to try it! What? Won’t be going there again. Poor service ethic.

We were in Kingsdown on a camping holiday and took refuge in the pub as the evenings were so cold! Well, we had a wonderfully warm welcome here. The first night we were invited to join in the pub quiz, which was good fun. Then we decided to come back another night for dinner, that was a good decision. Again, the staff were lovely and the food was amazing, fish cakes and home-cooked chips with a generous portion of salad. Hubby had fish and chips and cleared his plate in no time. A good choice of beer too. All this in a traditional pub atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Visited this pub for the first time and was not disappointed. This is a warm and welcoming pub in the heart of the village. The locals made us feel welcome and the bar staff were both friendly and efficient. I like my beer and had two lovely pints of Gadds Dogbolter at a very reasonable price. This is one of the rare pubs that you could end up sitting in all afternoon! In so many ways, this pub epitomises what a pub should be. Although we didn't eat here, the food offer appeared extremely popular. For those also who like a bit of brewery history, check the Thompson & Son Walmer brewery window dating pre-early 1950's when it was taken over by Charringtons and closed. A rare window indeed of a once much loved Walmer brewery.

The owner and his family, (as well as the waitstaff) were all very friendly, fun, and eager to please our group of 6 adults and one toddler. We ordered various meals and each of us were very well satisfied with our choices. The fish and chips were awesome, as was the Cumberland sausage and mashed potatoes. A stop here for a meal would not be complete without ordering their amazing desserts. The cherry bakewell and the caramel chocolate cake are both excellent!!! This pub is absolutely charming and quaint, and ideally located just up the hill from Kingsdown Beach, which made for a fun day of walking the beach prior to stopping off for dinner. The bar area is separated from the dining area, which works especially well for families with children. They also have a lovely courtyard if you wish to dine outdoors. The interior decor is accented with many wonderful antiques which gives you a true sense of some of the wonderful history and quaintness of the building. This was a great day sharing some drinks, dining and dessert, along with some fun interaction with the staff and locals. After a beautiful morning at the beach, 7 adults and 10 kids ascended on the Kings head after a recommendation from the campsite we were staying. After a warm welcome from the waiter who said we were fine to eat we all sat down, unfortunately the bad service started here with chef standing by the kitchen drinking a beer and rolling his eyes as clearly didn’t want to work anymore that day. A nice selection of food was on offer and all the children were happy with the kids menu. Drinks had to be ordered at the bar as they wouldn’t serve at the table for some reason which was slightly annoying but not the end of the world. On arrival of the food most of us were happy with the exception of the pork chow mien order by two friends, it was exceptionally salted to a point where it wasn’t edible, After a complaint to the waiter who shrugged his shoulders and walk off but did agree to wipe it off the bill. The kids also complained the batter was chewy on the cod and several bones were also found.

There are three pubs in Kingsdown. The two lower ones have been “cleansed” to accommodate the city tourists that visit on the weekends, but the Kings Head is as authentic a pub as any. The Landlord, Alex, and his wife, Amanda, have a sense of humor that will make the weak buckle. The food is great, the atmosphere is cozy, and the banter amongst the locals will quickly draw strangers into it. In the summertime, the back garden is the venue for a brash game of Skittles that can be heard across the village. All are welcome there. I always look forward to dropping in for a pint or two when I am in the area. A plus! A must for all in the Dover to Deal area.

I guess one of the things that separates old fogeys like me from young fogeys is that I tend to like pubs for what they don't do, not what they do do. So, I like pubs that don't do music as the main noise source; that put it in the background where it can be safely ignored. I like pubs that put drinking and talking before food; I don't mind them doing food as long as it doesn't mean the drinker/talkers are crammed into a two-foot stretch of the counter being jostled by eaters paying by credit card, and having their nostrils constantly invaded by the stink of saute octopus gonads or whatever. I like pubs that don't put chairs on tables twenty minutes before closing time so you find yourself surrounded by wooden mountain ranges as you try to read the Sun. I like pubs that have free copies of the Sun, not the Guardian because the Guardian is the paper I have to pretend to like so can never actually buy the Sun, but if it's the only one around well, then I don't have a choice, do I?

We popped in on a busy Saturday evening. We was lucky to get the last table. The place was booked solid. Definitely book in advance. The pub is run by a very nice couple. The lady explained the menu and specials food. We all enjoyed our meals, however the mango & Stilton burger was delicious, I had to fight my friend off pinching it all.. Will return soon.

Dropped in this afternoon as family feeling peckish and as we were at kingsdown holiday park it was a 5min walk. Not disappointed, good choice. Son had the rack of ribs and loved every piece!! Daughter had the chicken burger and was happy :)Me and missus had burger with goats cheese and sweet chilli sauce - great combo and stuffed after!! Must have been good as missus does not usually eat burger.Very accommodating with the kids and I would recommend visiting for a good meal and drink. Thanks :)

Visited here one night whilst staying in kingsdown for a long weekend away. We were tired and hungry from travelling so we ventured to the kings head on our first night for some.food and drinks. We received a warm welcome from the staff. Pub was the typical country style pub, warm and cosy. I ordered the leek and cheese pie with wedges and salad. My partner and our friends ordered the cod and chips and fish cakes. We all enjoyed our meal and it tasted lovely! Would definitely recommend thank you :)

We have been to this excellent pub several times now, for birthdays, anniversaries, family get-togethers and cosy dinners for two. The food is superb. We have always been given a very warm welcome from Alex and Amanda, and a friendly super service from Rebecca. It is a typical old world village pub, with oak beams and oozing history. It is spotlessly clean and has a very pleasant atmosphere. It has everything to suit every taste, from popular quiz nights, film show nights and music nights and can cater for all occasions from weddings to corporate sessions to christenings, weddings and funerals. It also opens its doors for well supported fun raisers too. Dining here is very pleasant with an added bonus, it's a short walk to the beach. We loved it here the first time and it has never disappointed.

Beer cloudy as it was the first pint pulled but was changed with an apology. Pint glass tankard is a bonus unlike the Noman Wisdom in Deal that has only half Pint ones. Overall nice friendly pub.

We had a wonderful Sunday Roast here. They were able to get us in without a reservation and were so nice and friendly despite being super busy. The inn oozes charm and the food was delicious. We got a beef roast and lamb roast and sticky toffee pudding (gf) for dessert. A quick stroll down to the beach for a lovely view. We feel lucky to have found this gem!
