Stopped for a coffee and snacks whilst staying in the area. Superb cafe with friendly staff (who even gave us some parking advice). Excellent food and drink choices and very dog friendly. Surrounded by a lovely park with further gardens nearby. Well worth a visit.

It's such a shame this park is being run down by the local council, who do not pick litter or clean graffiti on the property.

This was our first visit and we were suitably impressed. The cafe, itself, is in a superb position in gardens in which you can walk and one side of the cafe is in a beautiful panelled room; the billiard room. The staff were friendly and helpful. The tables were cleared and cleaned as soon as the customers had left. There was a good choice of snacks and drinks on the menu and, given where it is, it was not over expensive. It was very busy when we went and it was said that there was a 20 minute waiting time for food. However, we didn't have to wait anywhere near that long.

A cold frosty January morning, with a warm friendly welcome in the cafe! As I’ve found on all my visits here, the staff work hard to produce great cafe food even when the place is inundated :) The team are dedicated to keeping the place clean & tidy too, and that’s despite the hordes of muddy wellies that tramp through on a Winter’s day. Well done folks, I really enjoyed my visit today.

On the menu it says Gluten Free options available?? But not if your a Coeliac?? I thought that was the idea of gluten free food on a menu! So Coeliac’s could eat, I was told, we do, jacket potatoes, GF bread, GF cakes, but not for you! because your a coeliac?? That is totally utterly ridiculous of a cafe to do that, ooh I had a packet of GF crisps. Can’t provide for coeliacs, What’s the point of having it??

We used this as a conference venue, what a great venue! The service was fantastic, very attentive throughout the day, nothing was too much. The tea and coffee were refreshed frequently and a good supply of biscuits kept coming. The lunch was delicious and a lot of choice for different dietary needs. Would definitely recommend the billiards for a business meeting or even a private family function. In addition to this time, we use the cafe on a regular basis and always have a good experience, the staff are friendly and the food is always tasty. My baby particularly loves the sausage rolls which she gets every week with her gran! It is the perfect addition to a much loved family park.

What a fantastic little gem! We love to visit kearsney whatever the weather, and this place is always a welcome sight whether you want a hot drink to warm up or an ice cream to cool down. Food is always amazing and spot on and the staff couldn’t be more welcoming. Nothing is ever too much. Sometimes we visit as a family and other times I come with just our baby and the staff always go above and beyond to help especially when they see me on my own with her. The cafe is always clean and tidy. I can’t recommend this place enough if you are ever visiting in the area then you should definitely visit and enjoy the beautiful kearsney abbey setting while there.

We live locally and often use the park, occasionally stopping into the cafe for a coffee or breakfast. This is a busy location and can get busy so at times patience is required. That said the staff are friendly and provide service with a smile even when the cafe is busy. We usually have a toasted sandwich which I can highly recommend.

A wonderful little cafe. Since reopening this cafe is much improved, with a greater menu and more options for seating! Even now for the summer they have an additional outside kiosk with whipped ice cream to help with the increased demand. A lovely little spot to meet friends for a catch up / lunch!

Overpriced and rude staff! My partner and I came for a bit of lunch and decided on the breakfast roll. The roll was full of flour and crumbled when you held it and bit into it. The roll consisted of one bacon one small sausage and an overcooked egg. Upon opening the roll I saw it was not sufficient enough to cover the roll and went to ask if half a sausage could be added to each roll to cover the bread considering the price £4.75 each roll, I thought it would be a reasonable request. I was informed that that is what has been served since they opened and the lady spoke in a rude tone with a disgusted look on her face. Not at all a reasonably priced cafe and the staff also let it down. 15 minutes to make too and the cafe was not at all busy!

Visited with my 4 year old daughter on a Wednesday lunchtime. It was quite busy, but we had to wait a very long time at the collection window for our food. My breakfast roll came first, and after waiting another 10 minutes, I had to ask where my daughter's cheese sandwich was. It seems they had forgotten/missed the order. What a lovely breakfast roll though - beautifully cooked.

This tearoom is currently closed at it is being renovated. The gardens however do have a mobile coffee/tea shop which also has a small menu of hot food options. They have ice cream, fresh fruit and a limited supply of chocolate treats. They also sell food to feed the ducks and swans on behalf of the council.Friendly staff. Will happily visit again.

Went here yesterday ...just wanted a sandwich to take away. Wasn't even busy and after I paid for our 2 tuna baguettes (£7.20 I might add) I then got told it's a half an hour wait . 1. I should have been told that before I had paid 2. What the hell it's a baguette and tuna it's not exactly hard. If you are expecting any kind of busy day things should be prepped. I wouldn't have minded but there was 6 people ahead of me and they all only had panini's not exactly 5* food coming out to warrant the wait. At least 4 people working so think you seriously need to look at your speed of service and your preparation. Was nice what we had but for the money and wait would not have food from there again unless I have loads of time

Today I took 17 octagenarians out to the Abbey tea room for afternoon tea. I had pre booked our tables due to their being so many of us. Definitely recommend good value for money.

Come here most Sunday's as I live in River, there's nothing nicer than having a fry up (always perfect eggs, not greasy at all, sausages are herby) whilst over looking the gardens. On a sunny day its so nice to be able to sit on the grass with a book after you have eaten. The girls in there always have a smile and do what they can to accommodate peoples needs. £6 well spent if you ask me. If you want gluten free or vegan replacements then this place isn't for you, but its is nice and its honestly one of the nicest surroundings in the area.

We decided to give this cafe a try after visiting Kearsney Abbey many times before and loving it. Coffee was nice and reasonably priced, slice of angel cake was a bit steep at £2.95. Whilst the decor was nice if a little old, seating area was spacious. The only criticism is that the girl serving us was not very friendly and she did not smile. Your staff need to be more welcoming.

My review title says it all. It's a good place to go if you're passing and badly need a pick-me-up, or are busting for the toilet. There is a reasonable amount of choice, and all reasonably priced too. I did think the prices were a bit steep for the ice cream, but for locally made stuff I understand profiteering is necessary. Tea was good, service friendly, although seating area very cramped so lots of competition for a table. Would revisit though, whether that be for a picnic or just for a cup of tea during a pit stop.

Popped in here for a cuppa after several hours outside with the children. It's very oppressive - the building is an old billiard room I believe left over from the original building. Is complete wood panelling and glass ceiling which are amazing but the overall ambience inside was quite depressing as was the tea. I like strong tea but had no chance here, it was so weak it was undrinkable and I'd query if there was actually tea in the bags. Even my friends mum who likes weak tea couldn't drink it. Kids had ice cream which they said was nice. Didn't have the food so cannot comment on that but avoid the tea.

Popped in yesterday for lunch. Tea Rooms were very busy with selling cups of teas etc and ice creams. We opted for their Cottage Pie (@ £6.45 each), which came with a dish of three veg and a full Gravy boat of Gravy. We went with a large group of people and had pre booked. But the place was crowded and quite difficult to approach with all the people milling around outside. We had ordered ahead for cream tea, but I have to say it's pretty mean when one of our group asked for another scone and another asked for black coffee instead of tea and were charged extra. Not a place I would return to and don't recommend it unless you are extremely hungry or thirsty. Must do better.

This tea room occupies the former billiard room of the large mansion that once stood in the pleasant parkland known as Kearsney Abbey. We have eaten here several times (main lunch meal) and have always been impresssed by the quality and generosity of the food - rarely have room for a desert. The food is unpretentious, well cooked, well presented, politely served to the table and good value for money. If you choose to have a window seat then you have a great view down to the lake with swans, moorhens and other birds as well as plenty of trees; if it's cold and really feel the need then sit in comfort by the fire you can (but you'll find the rest of the room plenty warm enough in my view). The real question is: would we eat here again; well, this wasn't our first visit and I'm sure it won't be our last!

Unfortunately, this was my second time here to give it the benefit of the doubt, as on my first visit I had to complain. I had a breakfast which was greasy, but edible. I wouldn't order again. My friend had the veg breakfast, and the burger was very dry. Desert was okay, except my friend had the apple pie with ice cream. It wasn't mentioned when ordering that the ice cream was extra cost. Cherry pancake was the best out of the bunch.

Popped in here for lunch, 2 bottles of wine and £170. The toast was burnt and everything was salted despite saying when we booked we were salt intolerant and again when we ordered ! The Barnsley chop was salted so we left that as was the top of the terrine, as as a incredibly good gesture the reduced the price of the chop by 25%, so that was a fiver off the bill that would have been £175. I did eat some of the chop myself but it wasn't mine to eat, so about half was eaten, but everything that went with it including the broccoli (£4/5) was wasted and we had a disjoined lunch, what a waste of time. I couldn't be bothered to take issue about not being refunded the chop. I eat out a lot and wouldn't recommend this restaurant as the chef is off his game. I am sure this place gets plenty of good reviews, if it were me I'd get all my friends to leave good reviews and the staffs girlfriends for a little bonus. I've read sunday lunch with tough roast beef..honestly and over cooked fillet steak..come on, go back and get another star in McD's
