Jimmy's Fish Bar in Bassetlaw

After going here on and off for a few years the place has gradually gone down hill apart from its prices which is now £4.40 for a large chips that isn’t so large. There was more batter than fish and at £6.40 for a large cod that wasn’t again so large I/ we won’t be going again, yet another that’s hiked the prices massively and took a dive with quality and value for money ! Really disappointing.

Absolutely love this chip shop. Best in Worksop by far and great affordable pricing. Great work by all the staff always friendly

We had a big order from jimmys for our amuture dramatics group to eat between our 2 shows of our panto Robin hood. The team worked so very hard to get the order ready very quickly and the food was just perfect. Will deffo do this again . Best chip show in worksop by far. Thanks guys

I've been to Jimmy's many times and always enjoyed the food.On this occasion I had Cod & chips.The batter was very soggy and the Cod neither looked like Cod,didn't taste like Cod and wasn't the usual white flakes.Very unsatisfied

I have been going into Jimmys for over 40 years. Always I am drawn back by superb tasty fish and chips, jacket potatoes and kebabs. Now I don't live nearby anymore but Jimmys still the best in Worksop by far.

Food is always nice however the staff are consistently miserable! Never a smile unless you know them.

Always go to Jimmy's as not only is it local but the service and food are the best in Worksop!. No other chip shop comes near, our family saying when eating chips elsewhere 'it's not quite Jimmy's'. Kebab meat is to die for and a must have!!!. Keep up the fantastic work Jimmy's.

I've been going to Jimmys for years but now only in desperation as I have noticed a marked reduction in portion sizes. Compared with other local fish and chip,shops Jimmys I feel is short changing the customer. The product itself isn't too bad. Although the fishes are heavy on the batter at times. There is one middle aged lady server who is very portion size conscious. I am presuming this is under orders of the management.

After being terribly disappointed the last time we came to visit “Jimmys was closed for annual holiday , “ My poor husband was mortified so thankfully we have made up for it on this trip to the north and made a visit TWO nights running . ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS cannot speak highly enough of the service and as for the fish and chips .....second to none . Phoned in our order ready to collect within ten minutes , apologies for no photos but it was devoured before I got the chance to take any . A must visit destination for us on every trip just wish they’d consider opening up a branch near us in Dorset, lovely people lovely food can’t recommend highly enough

Jimmy's Fish Bar is located on small precinct directly opposite Bassetlaw Hospital, about 200 yards to the main entrance. It has been extensively refurbished quite recently. On the same precinct there are other shops, including a pub and a mini supermarket, and there is bags of parking space on site. We usually go there on a Saturday, after 2pm when fish is usually cooked to order. I have cod and my wife, who is not a lover of fish as much as I am, has a jacket potato with tuna and mayonnaise. The shop is open all day on Saturdays. I have been eating Jimmy’s’ fish for the past 18 years and never had any fish that has been nothing less than fresh and perfectly cooked, The cod is usually thick and chunky, not the long, flat tail-end piece that you can get fobbed off with at some fish shops. Each piece of cod is deliciously moist with thick chunky flakes. The batter is crisp and dry. I top mine with mushy peas and soak the cod and the peas in malt vinegar and sea salt (I think) from a proper salt cellar. I regularly pass the time of day with the elderly Greek owner. His two likeable sons now run the business. The cod I get from Jimmy's is by far the best I have ever eaten; I have never tasted cod anywhere else that can get anywhere near as good and as fresh as that from here. I would, and do, give Jimmy's a 5-star.

We always look forward to fish and chips when we come to the north and once again were not disappointed. Greeted by smiling friendly staff who remember us on every visit . Enjoyed a lovely value for money meal . I had a very happy husband who is already looking forward to our next trip to the north !!!

It’s without doubt the best fish and chips in the area, their large haddock is to die for. The service is always fast and friendly and they have a good variety of food on offer.

Definitely recommend the kebabs! Me and me partner both ordered a kebab each, i had just a small portion of kebab meat and salad and he had the large kebab in a pitta and to say mine was a small the amount of meat i got nearly filled a full plate it was amazing plus it only cost £3.50! You definitely get your money's worth! **highly recommend*

We live near Papas and use to go there but not know more . My Mum & Dad regulary travel from East Yorkshire to come and visit when they come we always end up having Fish & Chips from Jimmy's you can walk in in and ask for 2 small and one large haddock and they will quite happily cook it fresh for you without no bother.My husband and i also like the Chicken wraps they do.Yes i would recommend by far The best chippy in Worksop

Cold chips, poor quality fish, small portions and woman serving was awkward and rude. So small portion a large chips was a mini size served elsewhere, expensive for what we got and was cold

Excellent lunch - quick service BUT very large portions - fish very good and chips were fluffy, crisp and hot.

Nos dirigimos a la zona de alrededor de 30 años atrás, cuando estábamos recién casados una pareja. Desde entonces se han producido muchos cambios. pero afortunadamente no en nuestro "fish and chips". Jimmy y su familia nos han aportado con nuestras cenas/cenas en todo y hemos disfrutado de todo el mundo. . . . Excelente.

En el pasado par de meses y ya colocar, tienen aumentado su juego, y sirve comida de buena calidad, variada, puedes conseguir pescado y patatas fritas, hamburguesa, kebab, etc. La única queja que tengo es con cualquier fish and chips no ofrece automáticamente a poner sal y vinagre en las fichas. Espero pedirá todo el tiempo, le molesta cuando sólo envoltura con nada, es este pequeño ahorro de costes?

Regalo para kebab de Jimmy's. El lugar es limpio y el personal es acogedor. El kebab es jugoso y lleno de carne y ensalada. Las patatas fritas son también no grasienta como algunos chip. tiendas. Buena relación calidad-precio bien merece una visita.

Delicious piece of cod, huge as well I might add, massive portion of chips, lovely food, cooked well, and happy staff, couldn't ask for anything better, the best chippie around.

We regularly order from here and have never bee disappointed. Best chippy in Worksop by far. I would highly recommend the kebabs especially the chicken peri peri with hot chilli yum yum !!!

I was recommended to try Jimmy's by the guys who did my drive as they go every Friday for their lunch. I was in the Worksop area one day so thought I would give it a try, I was not disappointed. I now travel 15 minutes to go to Jimmy's but it's worth it! I wouldn't have chips from anywhere else now even thou it's not in my local town. The shop deserved its 5 star rating on here and it's 5 star food hygiene award as it's beautifully decorated but also so clean! The food is so fresh, they can cook your fish in flour for a healthier option upon request which is great. The chicken kebab meat is delicious, you know you're eating good quality, fresh produce when you visit Jimmy's! Iv not heard a bad word about this chip shop, the staff are so friendly and polite and nothing is ever too much trouble! This is more than just a chip shop, you get that extra something! Thanks for giving me two years of amazing chips!

We have tried several fish & chip places some are cheaper some give you that much you throw what you can't eat away. Jimmy's for me are the best in Worksop try it

Looks good after the overall .All new equipment and tasty fish and chips.Nice batter and the chip to die for.i called at lunch time on a Friday the cue was out of the door but 4 or 5min and I was being served.Try the cod and mushy peas they are great.

Always had its reputation, lovely food. Loved it when I was younger used to go here all the time. Great place to grab some grub.

I made a review last year regarding this chippy, which was poor, but i always give a place another shot. 5 months on and im affraid it was just as poor, chips mediocre, soggy and greasy. The Cod was sparce within the batter, and what cod there was, was overcooked GREY and tasteless. The batter was a heavy greasy sponge. Why can't chippys do batter anymore? Its not hard! I think the time has come to dissregard this place totaly now, and use somewhere else in town. I wish chippys would stray away from doing kebabs, burgers etc and just do fish & chips WELL.

Haddock cooked whilst you wait, which when you get it, it is huge and doesn't actually fit on your plate!Huge amount of chips even on the small portion which does 3 of us, peas and curry sauce are very tasty too.This place is always busy and its easy to see why, they also do chicken, jacket spuds, kebabs, children's meals, a place to cater for all tastes.Very reasonable too and lovely friendly staff

Great Fish and chips and they are so reasonably priced I think mind was the deal of the day but it wasn't very costly and plenty of it. The staff are very nice and welcoming and it is a pleasure to go there. Just a short wait while the fish was cooked but well worth it.

Jimmy's Fish Bar has made the 'innovation' of pre-frying the chips outside of peak hours. The result is stale, hard, nasty chips. Avoid at all costs.

Friday night treat, fish chips and peas special, more than enough for one person. seemed smaller fish than usual, but was very tasty, batter not soggy, very lovely,

We buy our supper from Jimmy's about once a month and never have a complaint. - love the refurbishment. The only thing I would ask, is that an improved piece of fish is used in the small haddock.

Fish and chips x3, £16 very poor quality, dark overcooked chips, 70% of chips were hard, sharp, not plump and tasty. Fish was dry and overcooked, batter hard and greasy. Wont be using again, chippy has had recent refurb which is clean, but the standard of food is not acceptable for price. There is better chippys in area.

love the food they serve and so much choice my favorite is the chicken kebabs they do 3 choices of flavours mediterranian ,tikka and piri piri well worth a visit

As Im only live 5 minutes walk away this is the first choice for chippy. Never had a bad meal from there in the 20 years I've been having it from them

I like to try a lot of places out, but i regret wasting money here. Was simply the greasiest meal i had ever eaten. The staff seemed friendly, but the food was lacking in quality.
