Pretty basic Indian cuisine to be honest. Felt over priced. Service was excellent.

Been ordering here for around 9 months and have always highly recommended it and wouldn’t have gone anywhere else. However, the last time we ordered, the food wasn’t the best and lacked something but thought it may have been a one off! We decided to give it another try and tonight it had been even more disappointing. Feels as though a new chef has been brought it or perhaps under new management! food was very very oily, bland, soggy. Made us feel sick and deffo won’t be coming back which is a shame as used to love this place!!

Haven't used indian zest for about 9 months and we ordered a takeaway because these guys made fresh well balanced food. It was like food from some other place. Roti was like a cardboard disc , vindaloo was like tomato stew with mostly chewy so called lamb, it was mutton. Rice dish over done with turmeric. The service was great so is the website for ordering but this isn't the kitchen I once used. I'm deleting the app.

This used to be the best Indian takeaway in Chelmsford, but no longer on this evidence. The curry was swimming in oil - we had to spoon a lot of it off before we could begin to eat. The curry was a mush - it was impossible to tell what the constituents were. It had barely any "bite" at all - not even Korma hot. I've had (much) better from Tesco.

I just had the nicest Indian dish of my life and I want to say thank you, and thank you to the others who work here and have to listen to my confusing orders and still manage to get it right. Just found this place by googling indian takeaways in Chelmsford on the way home and found Zest . Food was ready bang on time. Cooked to perfection & very tasty. We will definitely be back. Fantastic food - thank you

By far one of the best Indian takeaway restaurants in Chelmsford. Excellent range of Indian dishes to choose from, freshly made and always hot and tasty. Discounts for collection and loyalty points to be earned to use as money off on future orders. Also have online ordering option. Given I am more than happy to travel across Chelmsford to get my takeaway from Zest tells you everything. Highly recommended 👌

Took 2hrs to arrive. Fobbed off multiple times. Distinctly average, greasy and half arsed cooking. Not going back.

We’ve been using this take away regularly for the last 3-4 years despite it not being on our doorstep they do deliver, food usually great however the last order we had the chicken tikka pasanda was not a patch of its usual quality, where you usually get around 7 pieces of chicken per dish this had 4 all of which were about Alf the size of normal and the sauce was so thick you could almost slice it and had no flavour at all, I contacted the take away directly at the time demanding a response as the only other time I’d contacted them when had a missing dish they weren’t very understanding only offering 10% off next order, well this time I said if I get no response I’d take my business elsewhere, result I got no reply at all and Indian Zest are one very good customer down

Didn't enjoy my food... but I rhino its a curry house where you need to know what to order...but the lamb was lovely melted in Mt mouth but just didn't like the sauce... All hot . And polite staff.

I’ve been using Indian Zest for about 5 years. Never once had a bad meal. Exemplary service and quality of food every time. I can’t recommend these guys enough. Keep up the good work. 👌🏻

Ordered over the phone, food arrived 2.5 hours later after 2 calls asking wheee the food was. Was fobbed off with an excuse, but they should have called to tell me it would be late and I could have decided if I wanted it or not. Food was over watered, so what I ended up with was a chicken tikka soup and the rest was cold. Huge disappointment!!! Thankfully I paid cash on delivery and I told them I’m paying half or they can take it back. Which they agreed- rightly so!

So disappointed, waiting for a meal for my wife and daughter and still not turned up 1.40 mins later.. called them and they dont know what happened to delivery

Have had this as takeaway several times. Food is great every time, very decent sized portions as well. Delivery always been on time. A good range of veggie options too

Just looked up the menu on line as not at home and was so surprised to read the last review. Not one for reviewing places normally as I know I’m quite fussy about good quality food/cooking, but felt I really must address this. I have lived in Writtle for 20yrs+ and this is the most authentic tasting and reliably good home delivery service I’ve come across. Great value and polite service, Had plenty of others that deliver late and cold or really greasy, but other than one time I had to chase up for being late this one has surpassed most by a long way. Hope this puts some perspective and balance to the customers who have had a bad experience with Indian Zest.

We always go here and it's always nice in fact my partner rates it as the best however I dont know what's going on in the kitchen but the one we had tonight was awful. The onion bhajis were burnt, the chicken in the tikka masala was mad dry and the poppadoms could bend. I'm not sure we'll order again just for the risk of getting a bad time and ended up wasting our money.

Very disappointed with our food and service. Order was an hour late when I called to see where our delivery was got fobbed off on the phone saying it was on its way. The mushroom bhaje was swimming in water, rest of the dishes were cold and congealed. Food had spilled out into the bag. We were missing nan bread and one dish was wrong -not what we ordered. Will not be using Indian Zest again such a shame as they use to be good !! Terrible customer service and food.

I really can't praise this company enough. Fantastic meal, everything cooked lovely. Told me it was ready for collection at 8, and it was! Well done.

Avoid. Last 2 orders have taken in excess of 3-4 hours to arrive. Repeatedly fobbed off on the phone when chasing the order with ‘Your order is being bagged up right now and will be with you in 10mins’ etc. Offers of a free bottle of 7up don’t really cut it I’m afraid, I’d rather just the £50+ of Indian food arrived prior to 10pm. Such a shame as this used to be the best in Chelmsford!

Usually lovely but tonight I put the rice and curry on the plate and it was just full of water it completely separated and was Swimming in a water substance I had to throw away

Was recommended by a friend and have not been anywhere since. Food has always been great and always on time. I've historically always preferred to get my takeaway food from restaurants, on the basis they have to serve the same food to sit down paying customers. However, this place is great and I've not had any cause to go anywhere else in the last 2 years.

It's always been a bit hit and miss, sometimes brilliant and other times just okay, but the last meal was inedible. All the curries tasted the same and were swimming in grease. Not going back.

Excellent food, clean and quality service. Hands down the best takeaway curry in Chelmsford, having tried them all out when I moved here.

Looking after the grandchildren while mum and dad had a night away. 13 year old grandson recommended. Directed me there and we were not disappointed. Great food, good value. Best indian food I’ve had.

Having just moved nearby earlier this year, we have tried Indian Zest a few times now and have always had a tasty meal. There is such a lot of choice it takes a while to look through the menu but is so easy to then order online and then 15 minutes later take a quick walk up to collect. Am very happy that this takeaway is so near to us and will be trying different dishes in the future.

Such a good takeaway - we had chicken tikka balti, chicken tikka starter, saag paneer, cheese and garlic naan and pilau rice. The balti is the best I've ever had and the naan is always super cheesy and delicious. Will always order from here - good quality, hot food delivered quickly

Only used their delivery service, but food always freshly prepared, arrives hot and within the time quoted at point of order. Love their slightly unusual dishes. We’re quite fussy about the quality of what we eat but this is a good degree above the normal take away style food.

This takeaway is the BEST in Chelmsford the food is outstanding, the staff are great and service well is just brilliant. The most cleanest and nicest takeaway I have ever been to in my life, I was so shocked when I first went. They also have a on-line ordering service and their own APP on the Apple Store and Google Play which is great, easy and quick ordering you can also pay using PayPal. Highly Recommended, worth a visit to collect your takeaway & get a 15% discount as well.

Finding a good takeaway can sometimes be difficult, but we enjoyed the food from Indian Zest. I'm not sure what was going on with the pink colour in some of the rice (not something I'd come across before!) but the curry itself was very tasty and reasonably priced. We'll have to try it again to see what the other dishes are like!

The food was pretty good, and in my opinion a 7 out of 10. I ordered it while in Chelmsford for a night on business. They closed at 11, but took my delivery order still even though I didn't call it in until about 10:40. The Chicken Tikka Masala was good, but maybe a bit overdone on the coconut flavor for me. The meat samosas were good. I'd say give it a try..

The take-away that can't COPE, with a busy weekend evening. Steer well clear. Incredibly embarrassing when you've gathered friends. They really know How to let you down.

Got a takeaway and it was very nice ...good service and very fresh food...would recommend and I would use again !!!

On Friday night we had a take away from this place. It was really nice although the lamb jal frazi had only few small pieces of meat.

Indian zest have delivered many tasty curries to my house. The online ordering process is quick and easy. The menu is varied and tasty. Food arrives hot and on time, what more could you want?

Went in unsure what to order, but with a good idea of tastes. They customised dishes for us - and I'll tell you what - it's the best curry I've had since I was last in India. The sag aloo was amazing. Even the onion salad was tasty!

Had a takeaway delivered and food was not as good as it has been before. My husband enjoyed his. I had a vegetable dish and I did not enjoy it at all. It was mainly filled with big chunks of onion. Very small amount of other veg. 2 small potatoes that were watery. It was swimming in oil with hardly any sauce. Come on Indian zest. It's a Monday night and not busy.
