Asian Garden in Chelmsford

Use to be the best Indian take away in Chelmsford but has gone down hill massively. Late deliveries by over an hour, drivers don’t deliver to the right address and the food turns up luke warm and watery.

I know my food and Asian Food tried pawning some weak flavoured curry off on me and calling it Vindaloo. After i called Asian Food to complain about my order and to let him know this was not Vindaloo and how i have been to India just to eat and understand their food. I lnew i was on a lossing battle when the boy tried telling me Vindaloo is not from India but a white mans dish that was created. I coold of put him in his place and told him the story of Vindaloo and where in india it cane from. But the second mistake was when he said they do not bath the meat in viniger this is one of the flavors that makes a vindaloo along with the heat. The final point vindaloo should not be swimming in a sacue but more dry. I understand you are cooking for the British (your words) but go to other Indian restaurants around you and taste their vindaloo. They did offer to send me another vindaloo out but i was told it was going to be the same. ??? I am sure they can do better or maybe they are buying pre-made sauce’s in and thats my belief. Jonathan

Possibly one of the most unflavoursome Indians I've ever had. Delivery was shocking as well. Sorry but won't be using this place again.

I have ordered couple of times; when the food arrived our expectations continued to be exceeded. The dishes are flavourful, and chewy. The marination and seasonings worked together beautifully. By the end of the meal we were planning our next order.

Asian Garden has been my takeaway of choice for a while now, food is always great and they are always accommodating for specific requests to personalise your dish as well as serving all the traditional dishes to a good quality. The staff are friendly, welcoming and hard working. Already looking forward to the next one!

Visited the boys at Asian Garden again last night and as the food was outstanding as usual I thought it only fair I give the boys a review. Been coming here a while now after trying everywhere else in Chelmsford. As I said the food is outstanding and consistent and the lads there are more than welcoming. If you haven’t been try them today. You won’t be disappointed !

Had another takeaway from here last night. The usual good food and good quantity. Only thing was I ordered Murghi Masala but it wasn't. It was chunks of chikka tikka in mince no boiled egg and it wasn't shreded tandoori chicken. Tasted ok but not what I ordered and paid for. Also they don't seem to use any fruit in their cooking like pineapple, lychees or banana. Makes all the difference to taste in a sauce.

Never ever in my life I thought that I would love Indian food,once took a gamble and asked the gentleman at the till, to make their own choise when choosing them meals as I have never heard of some names...or ingredients that those meals contain....Absolutely love it, and judging by this little place - they're busy all the time.....well managed business that provide excellent service and quality...

I order take out from here a lot . Including when I have friends over for a curry . Never been let down once . Always friendly even if busy and never get order wrong . Very reasonable prices When I have extras I give to friends and their kids who are nearby, and everyone loves the food and cannot fault it at all . Gary - the delivery driver is very friendly and is always on time with hot food . Asian Garden Indian food is of an extremely high standard and always tastes fantastic. Can’t fault them at all . Best Indian both I , and friends have ever tasted. I can also reheat it next day with no problems at all . Very good food with excellent hygiene. Staff are very friendly. Food was served very quickly. Food tasted really good. Definitely recommend Asian Garden for a takeaway if you are in that part of the world.

Love this place. Ignore the 1 stars. They're just wrong. Food is always tasty, generous portions and seem fresh. I've tried a few Indians in Chelmsford and this is one of the best ones.

The chicken dhanksak and Bombay potatoes are amazing. Great food overall.

My food was 40 minuets late had to call them three times to see when it was going to be delivered and when me and my partner started to eat he pulled out a hair from the food

Really surprised at how light the sauces are, not greasy at all. Lovely soft lamb and so tasty overall. Really has to be one of the better Indians I've had and that's across Chelmsford, Brentwood and Shenfield!! Keep the quality strong guys, thank you

Ordered online direct with restaurant, told delivery would be 60 minutes, after 80 minutes I phoned and was told another 20 minutes it was in fact another 40 minutes before food was delivered. Starters lukewarm, sag aloo instead of the mushroom rice ordered, and lamb so tough making it unenjoyable. This is the first problem I’ve had with Asian Garden, but too many issues on this occasion, will not use again.

Been meaning to post a review for some time. Perhaps its down to personal preference, but this is my favourite Indian in Chelmsford. Almost authentic recipes, fresh, quick and reasonable price. Keep it up. Oh, try the Mix Grill Dhansak, and always order direct.

Every dish we’ve tried at this place is so delicious and they’re always quick to deliver. Their vegetarian dishes are so varied and incredible value! Particular favourites are their onion bahjis, mushroom bahji and tandoori paneer. I would really recommend!

Ordered through Just Eat. Customer service was excellent, a member of staff called me on mobile to confirm the delivery address and order which was nice. The delivery man (just eat) was very friendly and professional the food arrived bang on time. I had a lamb Madras, garlic naan & keema rice. The meal also came with a free popadom which was nice of them. The Madras was really nice, it was very well balanced for herbs and spices and there was a good amount of lamb which tasted fresh and of a good quality. For my personal preference, the Madras could of been a bit 'hotter' but of course every restaurant has their own way of making these curries and it was still a great, lots of sauce too which was also good. The naan was good too, a nice size and it actually tasted of garlic. The keema rice however didn't do it for me, it just didn't look right, it was quite pale coloured and the mince was a grey sort of colour, it was quite different to other keema rice dishes I've had. However I can't complain too much, the meal was excellent value and the staff were great too, plus not everything can be as "dine in" quality due to the restrictions of course so don't judge them just for an "ok" rice dish. The rest of the meal was brilliant. Also the popadom tasted fresh and full of flavour and crunch, I have to say it was probably the best popadom I've had. So - 1) excellent, polite, personal customer service. 2) great service from 'Just Eat' delivery staff. 3) great quality meal, especially for the price paid. 4) brilliant value for money. 5) most importantly - it tasted fresh. Very poor service from this place, ordered takeaway at 8, delivery time was 9.10, they then at last minute pushed it back to 9.55, the food didn’t arrive until 10.30. We paid £37 and were only offered £3 credit for the issue. Used just eat which is really poor when things go wrong, so will cut them out next time. Plenty other choice in Chelmsford so will not use these people again. Given they’re ranked 160 odd, I’ll be checking the reviews 1st.

Only came across Asian garden due to Deliveroo. I’ve always found the Indian restaurants in Chelmsford not very exciting and all tasting pretty much the same so I thought I’d give it a go. Fantastic, best Indian meal I’ve had in ages plus delivered within the time stated.

Very good, quick delivery, tasty except the pilau rice which was a bit too fragrant for my taste . will definitely try again maybe with a different rice..

Food was bland and took 20 minutes longer than expected. Also once you order you will be bombarded with texts every week and forced to go back to the company website to unsubscribe.

Highly recommend this takeaway. Ordered chicken balti madras and a chicken korma. Both absolutely exceptional. Don’t go anywhere else. This place is the nuts!!!

Ordered via Just Eat - food was fresh and hot - my curry a little too hot! perhaps they got the spices mixed up? I ordered a dansak and other half had vindaloo both were lovely i would just ask for mine not so hot next time. Loved the little chocolates :) Prices are a bit high

Consistently delivers in terms of price and quality. Used to go to Zara but tried this place instead and haven't been back to Zara since. Quality is great to say they have such a large menu, great cooking time and great price. Keep up the good work!

Extremely impressed with this small takeaway in New Writtle Street. Have ordered a takeaway three times from here and every time it has been excellent. Large portions - easily enough for a meal the next day and very friendly staff, order then just pop round the corner to the Bay Horse for a couple of beers and they'll give you a call when your food is ready! We've tried many of the Indian restaurants in Chelmsford and hardly any have impressed and whilst this one is takeaway only, the food is brilliant.

Me and wife ordered a take-out last night!, what can I say the food arrived promptly and was still steaming hot, there was complimentary items such as hot towels which was an added bonus. Finally the food was great! The chicken tikka bhuna was cooked to perfection. Keep up the good food guys! Defo ordering again.

In one word "rubbish" what a total waste of money, I will not be ordering from this terrible excuse for a pizza takeaway ever again. I urge anyone thinking of giving these people a try not to, the pizza was so bad i threw it away after one slice.

Best tandoori food i have ever tried, the spices and the quality of food was amazing. Also if its a hot weather try there oreo shake its a best combo after tandori food. No complains.

Received flyer in post & decided to try this takeaway. I was fed up with the so so quality of our local takeaways so this was a great opportunity to see what the "new guys" could deliver. Not disappointed, ordered Chicken Bengal Curry, Tandoori Chicken Biryani all with sides. Delivered within the hour & arrived hot & the food looked well presented, large portions sufficient for 3 persons, very tasty. Excellent menu, well laid out & easy to read, will use again & can recommend.

Reviewing the take away service. Top food which was hot and quickly delivered. Decent size portions with a better selection than the average takeaway. This has now become our favourite takeaway

ordered lemon chicken, chips and curry sauce. The lemon chicken tasted like femented cardboard drained in bin juice, the curry sauce was chicken massala sauce as opposed to actual curry sauce. These guys need to seriously up their game. Previous management was excellent.

had food a couple of weeks ago that was very good, tonight we had another meal that was tasteless mushy the prawn biriani had only 6 prawns in it . also had a chicken dupiaza that also had no taste whatsoever , will we go back ? may be we will try one more time but today not at all impressed for what it cost.

Nicest take away in a long time. Food was fresh, well balanced, clean flavours and not greasy. The telephone service was fantastic very helpful and descriptive and the delivery guy was also friendly. Would recommend to others and will visit again.
