Delicious fresh hot food delivered faster than what the app predicted! Great quality ingredients, great value. Everyone in our group loved their food. Everything was so good thank you Taj Mahal team!

Ordered the Tandoori Chicken and Keema Biriyani for a party. The taste was just divine and savory. The Tandoori King Prawn Real Paneer Cheese Korma curry was just outstanding Spice was adequate and the order was delivered very quickly. Nothing to complain.

Great delicacy of food. A perfect Indian takeaway! Loved it’s curry. Specially It's creamy chicken malai curry full of flavour and the chicken was really soft. The biriyani and side dishes was fabulous ! Will be ordering again very soon!

Ordered a take away via Deliveroo, this restaurant has no tracking and the suggested delivery time is very inaccurate. Ordered at 7.15pm told food would delivered at 7.45pm. Rang at 8pm was told food is ready but waiting on a driver. Rang at 8.20pm told delivery was already on its way. Rang at 8.40pm straight to voice mail. Food finally arrived at 8.50pm. Food was very nice but a little cold, but none of Naan breads we ordered where there. A real shame and not somewhere I would recommend for take away.

I have been ordering curry from here 2-3 times per month for years and there is nowhere else in Chelmsford I would order a takeaway indian from. The food arrives so quickly (more often than not within 30 minutes) and the flavours are second to none. The staff are always polite and even go the extra mile to recommend other dishes to me that I now really enjoy (nice to have other options now to my usual ‘creature of habit’ korma!). I highly recommend ordering from here.

Excellent customer service, prompt delivery and delicious food

Ordered online and advised it would be 45 minutes. Nearly 2 hours later I phoned to make sure we hadn't been forgotten. Gentleman didn't take my name, didn't ask for address, said it's on the way and hung up. To be fair, about 20 minutes later, it arrived. Delivery man was very polite and apologetic. When we opened the order, it was incorrect. The chicken bhoona was just vegetable curry, although the writing on the lid stated chicken bhoona. As we'd already waited 2 hours, we didn't phone again, otherwise the rest of the food would have been cold

Had takeaway from here for the past 3 weeks and the food always turns up piping hot and the guy on the phone will talk you through what you might like with expertise..don't use the apps ring direct for a pucca service .Best takeaway Indian food by miles and trust me I've used them all you won't be disappointed.

The worst place with the worst customer service. Rude rude staff was very awkward with us for no reason we just wanted to not get cold food as they didn’t deliver it and the customer service was very unprofessional and said to us “do you want your food or not?” I personally thought this was very rude and horrible. Very impressed with the Lamb Biriyani and each variations has it own marination and amalgamations of Biriyani it was awesome. Personally first thought that the portion would suffice - but was surprised that the box was like a Houdini's magic box it had more quantity to feed two. Ordered vegetable thali and can of coke from them but they delivered me normal coke not even cold or chilled when I called them they said they don't have refrigerator to store drinks and they are charging £2.20 for can of coke. Not worth to order from this shop. Wake up buddy it's summer here go and get refrigerator first to store drinks 🍸 🙄

Having recently moved to the Springfield area of town we were looking for a new Indian take-away and were recommended this place by a work colleague. Online ordering was easy. Price was fair. Was greeted by a lovely lady on collection who offered me a drink and made me feel very welcome. The food was excellent, as good a take-away as we have experienced - delicious - clearly used high quality ingredients - we were extremely happy and recommend you give this place a try.

Haven't had a bad meal from here. Used to love the sitar before that closed down but taj mahal night is now my go to. Food is always hot and consistent with flavour and quality.

My friend recommended the jumbo tandoori grilled chicken dish and it did not disappoint one bit, i liked the combination of lamb and chicken as well as shish kebab with vegetables, the highlight was the super juicy and tasty chicken which filled me right up and left me wanting more the following night. The staff are always exuding friendliness and good vibes too which leaves me with no choice but to give 5 stars. Solid restaurant.

Ordered online via uber eats, one item was missing, the lamb chops were not lamb chops but rather some poor quality, not well cooked meat that was simply not worth it. Straight to the bin.

We ordered chicken biryani, plain naan, lamb madras, saag panir & pilau rice. All dishes were very tasty, my madras was the perfect level of spice, my partner said his biriyani was delicious, the portion sizes were great too. The saag panir was the best I’ve tried since recently moving to Chelmsford, Taj Mahal added extra cheese on the top and this went down really well for me. It was perfectly blended altogether with spinach, cream and cheese. After ordering online I phoned and asked for a pot of yoghurt and this was added to our order with no problems. Our meal was delivered quickly for a Sunday evening and the delivery driver polite and friendly also. All round a very positive experience and will be back. Thanks Taj Mahal

Home delivery on 21st June. These were the best Indian meals we have had this year. (Lamb Madras, Chicken Zalfrezi). Absolutely lovely

I’ve struggled to find a good Indian takeaway since moving to Chelmsford but recently tried Taj Mahal Night and it was incredible. Me and my partner both agreed we wouldn’t go anywhere else now. Never had a meal delivered cold and the ingredients always taste fresh.

Extremely disappointed with my food that that I ordered from them. The biryani had no flavour it was very blunt. The puree was soaked in oil and it was dripping. The chips was all burnt. I had to bin my food couldn't eat after few bites.

Ordered food from here and it was almost 1 hour late. When calling to ask where the order is the guy on the phone is not even apologetic. Just rude. No customer service skills whatsoever. And when the food finally arrived some of the chicken was completely burnt. Incredibly disappointing.

Food ok but service is awful ,only takeaway available,, not a “sit in” restaurant anymore ,,,on my order 3 weeks they forgot one side dish but would rather argue than rectify ,, 2 weeks later I was over charged for food never ordered and still waiting for a refund a week later after phones calls resulting staff and management blaming each other promising to get back to me ?! Will never order there again ,,very disappointing

Ordered loads for delivery with 3 friends and got lovely food. All enjoyed it. Delivered early on Saturday night. We all said how good it was. I like a curry and have tried many in Chelmsford and not tried here. Highly recommended.

Normally give the Taj five out of five but unfortunately tonight they let us down by forgetting to put our bread in the order. A ten mile round trip is not really worth it for our bread, still fingers crossed for next visit.

Friday night- ordered early and food arrived 35 mins later piping hot. The vegetable thali was absolutely amazing, I’d go as far to say as nicest takeaway I’ve had and the portion sizes were huge, not small thali portions I was expecting ! Freshly prepared and flavours really good, not mushy or indistinguishable like many vegetable Indian dishes I’ve had before. Call later in evening from restaurant manager to check if we were happy with our order! Highly recommended.

Just ordered a delivery from this Indian via Deliveroo quoted 20 minutes it took an hour and a half. Lamb rogan josh full of salt absolutely terrible. Onion barjis not edible. Called and advised restaurant they are supposedly sending another one! Understand time wait it’s lockdown so they are busy. Food though a different story - it’s not acceptable when you order a takeaway and it’s just not up to scratch! Wouldn’t order again!

Were told food would arrive at 19:45, arrived 2.5 hours later at 22:15. Restaurant unapologetic when called to check on the order ('everyone's waiting that long mate'). Don't expect any money back if your order is very late. Food was decent when it arrived

Recieved our order after nearly 2 hours from ordering on uber eats, food was barely warm, poppadoms were stale, and we were missing our naan bread. Called the restaurant to ask for a refund for our missing item & they just kept saying they'd give us a free meal in the week, like we wanna order from them again!! No help at all, I had to go through uber eats to sort a refund out. They told us they've never had a complaint like this before but I say different after looking at previous Google reviews!!

I ordered on line and selected a delivery time for later that evening. Our food arrived on time, piping hot and delicious. They also added a complementary vegetable dish that was really good too. Will be ordering again.

After 2 previous delivery being nearly an hour late, we swerved it for a few months untill last night. Decided to give it another go and really.shouldn't have bothered. Ordered a delivery at 6pm to be delivered for 8 (2 hours should be long enough that they surely shouldn't have a problem....) 8:25 still no food so gave them a polite phone call asking how much longer they expected it to be, got told it is on its way. 8:45 still no grub and now I'm hungry and getting the hump. After speaking with the manager for a few minutes expressing my frustration and also reminding him the previous 2 deliveries were a shambles he apologises and offers me 25% discount (but only midweek because its less busy and they would definitely be able to deliver it on time) I politely refused. So if you want to order food from them make sure its midweek as it will always be late at weekends because they are busy lol. Absolute joke, and to top it off they think making a curry spicy is giving it flavour. Please don't waste your time with this joke of an Indian.

Part of the delivery arrived after 90 minutes. We called immediately and were assured the missing food would be sent out by return. It's now 3 hours since we ordered and there's no sign of it... Mistakes happen but fobbing us off with false promises is not acceptable

Takeaway. Food average. Packaging awful, the food boxes were crushed and the juices from the boxes seeped out into the carrier bag. Awful mess!!

Waited well over 2 hours for the food to turn up after ordering online and it never arrived, ended up getting a refund from just eat 2 and a half hours after we ordered. Never ordering food from here again. EDIT: In response to the below, please see my phone from the other night, as you can see none of the calls connected. There was NO buzz on our intercom as we would have heard it, it directly calls the flat. You wouldn't have been able to get to our front door without us letting you in on the intercom. The one call that did connect we were told it was 5 minutes away, at quarter to 11. A joke. Don't lie - its not a good look for a business.

Waited 3 hours for food, it just didn't arrive. We called several times over the course of 3 hours and multiple times they said the driver was just around the corner but he never showed up.

Had the take away was the best Indian takeaway I've had looking forward to eating in next time 😁

Chicken tikka was very watery uneatable, and food cold, ordered popadoms none delivered !! Wasnt a very nice meal to be honest this time round disappointed 😔 delivery was late as driver forgot address had to go outside and call him back as was up the road at another house 🙈

This was the greasiest Indian takeaway I have ever seen. Both of the curries and the saag aloo were topped with a swimming pool of oil, so much so that I had to pour it off before eating it. A lot of the oil had leaked out of the containers into the bag during delivery which made for a fun serving experience...assuming you enjoy having curry scented oil covering your hands/worktops/literally anything else the containers come into contact with. Even once we’d overcome an oil reserve BP would be jealous of, the food was pretty bland. It’s a shame, we’ve ordered from here before and it was nice, but we won’t be ordering from here again.

Although it was late it was still hot. We are aware that the Army and Navy roundabout at 6.15 is a nightmare! I expect the food left the restaurant on time and was held up there.

I can’t recommend this restaurant enough I’m gutted I’m moving out of the area to Sudbury in the coming weeks as this is the only Indian I like in Chelmsford these people who own this are the most friendliest people I have ever come across and worth every penny me and my partner will be making regular trips from Sudbury to this fine restaurant thanks so much guys
