Gurkha Durbar in East Hampshire

Tremendous food, tasty and grease free. Popular and more specialised dishes were all amazingly tasty. Sizzling lamb, chicken with chickpeas and crispy naan were all highlights. The staff were charming and efficient.

We had a meal here today with a group of 15 for a family birthday. The Nepalese food here is always great, and we were not at all let down today. Restaurant is lovely and clean and despite the large group our meals were all served together at the same time. It has to be said that the service here is really friendly. They did all they could to make sure it was a meal to remember. Thank you.

Perfect - Food was delicious, brilliant selection for all taste buds from chicken to salmon, monkfish, prawn, lamb, mixed. From mild to very hot. Fast service, nicely presented with friendly, lovely & polite staff. Tonight was quiet, which we prefer, being able to talk and hear each other speak. The booking was made for tonight, Sunday for a table for 5. We had starters, mains, sides, dessert, alcoholic drinks, soft drink and 2 Irish coffees to end the evening. We are new to the area, this is the second time we have been to this Nepalese restaurant and the only one we have visited since before the Pandemic. This will be our regular haunt for a 'treat' or special occasion from now on. First visit was a Saturday evening, very busy, two large parties. extremely popular place to eat locally yet still the good service and quality food was evident.

Kind hearted friendly staff, with a welcome that makes you feel like family. Menu is wide but they are still happy to make changes for people with eating requests.

I should have just got an Indian ready meal from the Co-op across the street and had better food at a fraction of the cost. Everything was mediocre at best - main, side and bread. The rice was ok but that's not saying much. And the size if the main for the price? Total rip off. Who are these people raving about it?! AVOID

The Gurkha Durbar provided us with a fantastic curry lunch for 25 for my grandson's 21st birthday party which we did at home. The food was ready on time, they loaned us their catering dishes to keep the food warm and could not have been more helpful. The food was excellent and the portions generous. We will definitely do this again and can highly recommend.

A very friendly welcome and service throughout our meal. Great service and patience shown when we were ordering as some of the group were not familiar with Nepalese food. The food was all delicious and tasted freshly cooked. Served in white China and grease free this is a stylish establishment at very fair prices.

Wonderful and perfect family birthday celebration for our 12 year old. We gave our son the choice of any restaurant and he picked the Gurkha as it’s his favourite place to go. Sudha and the team welcomed us as if we were family and treated my son like he was royalty! The food was impeccable and the service was second to none. We cannot recommend highly enough - book your table today!!!!!

I contacted Sudha of the Gurkha Durbar to ask if she could arrange a special meal to be delivered for my Husband's birthday just before Christmas and as always she was just so helpful and accommodating. One of his favourite dishes is an authentic goat curry and although not on the menu at the restaurant she had it specially made for him and designed a menu around it. The food arrived piping hot, every accompanying dish delicious and really generous portions. A bottle of wine also arrived with our delivery which was such a lovely surprise and helped our celebrations go brilliantly! I highly recommend this establishment.

Last night we had a fantastic takeaway. Delivered on time and even added in a complimentary beer for my husband's birthday treat which was so kind! Food was delicious. Really friendly staff and great food - we'll be ordering again! Thank you.

We were a group of guys looking to celebrate International Men’s Day with a party! The Gurkha Durbar team laid on a top quality buffet with choices for everyone. Such a great venue.

We went to this restaurant for a birthday celebration. Firstly we ordered a coke for the person driving & instead we got a Cobra. Secondly, we order 2 chicken dishes, the same, and we received 2 different chicken dishes. Lastly, we ordered mushroom rice but this was clearly missed. When we received our meals, we asked for the mushroom rice, only to be told it wasn’t ordered. I thought the meal & drinks were over priced. I didn’t make a fuss as it was not my birthday & I didn’t want to spoil the evening. I don’t think I will be returning, anytime soon.

A wonderful evening out with the family during our weekend away and what a treat!For a couple of us, it was a second or third visit, but for the majority, it was the first.Quick response to drinks and service, and a very patient waiting staff while the elders decided on their starters and mains (with some assistance from the younger generation). Very generous portions and for me having a whole sizzling trout arrive on a hot plate was super. No lukewarm meals or lukewarm service here.Wonderful background music and a satisfying meal for all. I cannot wait to return.

tonight we had a lovely meal with friends with very good service. We mixed up the meals as are friends had not been before and they loved it the food. very friendly I would recommend it.

My husband and I took my sister and her boyfriend here for dinner recently and the whole experience was fantastic! Staff: Really personable. The owner sat us down and as I was driving i went to order a lemonade. She recommended the alcohol-free prosecco, which I had and was really tasty. We ordered some starters and they were really tasty. Our mains were also very tasty. My sister was hoping for a flavourful dish but her sauce tasted a little watery. The staff took this as more flavour, more chilli paste of some sort (which they concealed the label on the jar lol) It had a good kick to it but my sister was looking for stronger flavours but her dish was still tasty. Over all the service and food was great. We even were offered a free drink. Think it went to my husbands head because after we paid, my husband we to go to the kitchen to thank them for a wonderful evening and service lol. Will be coming back again!

I haven’t had an eat in meal here for a very long time and I wasn’t disappointed.From easy booking to a great recommendation for a starter and being great hosts it was a good end to a not so good week.The food is fantastic. It’s cooked well with great attention to detail. I’ve only had take aways from here in recent months and they were very good. I’ll happily recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a great place to eat.

There is always a warm welcome from the staff here, we feel more like close friends than just customers. It is nice to see them back up and running, even if at a slightly reduced capacity. Sudha and Mani always have a smile, and are always genuinely happy to see us. The food is always good, never had a bad portion, let alone meal.The beer is always cold, the poppadum's crisp and the food warming. it is somewhere we keep going back to because of the people and the food. If you have never been, give it a try, I promise you will not be disappointed.

Had a guilty mid week treat and what a treat. Delivered to the door, piping hot. Superb flavours and plenty of fresh vegetables. I had a king prawn biryani and the prawns were flavoursome and meaty. My husband had, what he described as the best Korma ever. Thank you to the team at the Gurkha Durbar for making a mid week treat a special occasion......we will be back.

Great food, great takeaway service. Have recently moved to the area and so glad to have such a good restaurant on our doorstep. Can’t wait for lockdown to be over so we can go for a sit down meal.

Have seen so many fabulous recommendations on Facebook, which certainly did not disappoint! A lovely lady delivered our food on a rather chilly February evening, not the easiest place to find in a totally pitch black location, not that she had any trouble! Everything we ordered was delicious, oh my god the onion bhajis were the best I’ve eaten in years! They even gave me a mini bottle of Prosecco as we had ordered for my birthday, which I thought was so lovely. Shall definitely be ordering from here again and so should you!

Ordered our first lockdown delivery a couple of days ago. Good online ordering function, quick delivery, food well packaged and well labelled. Even the kids liked it. Will definitely order from them again.

Fantastic service, and dishes. Have had several home deliveries during the lockdown over the last few months and could not fault the service or the quality of the food. Can't wait till they are open for normal meals to enjoy an evening.

Have frequented this Curryhouse several times, never once been disappointed! The curry itself is the best around, absolutely faultless. But the thing that impresses the most is the incredible staff, nothing is too much for them and the personal touch is guaranteed. Cannot Recommend highly enough

Gorgeous Nepalese food - just love a curry from here. The quality of the food and the flavour is just fantastic and the whole family thoroughly enjoys the food. The dishes are a bit different to a normal curry house and I love their little added touches (such as a surprise mini bottle of wine) thrown in!

Fantastic takeaway during lockdown. Having been cautious of ordering due to the virus, we tried the Gurkha Durbar after hearing good reviews locally. It didn’t disappoint. Not too rich or oily and great quality ingredients. Very impressed. Will be back for sure. Also very COVID secure takeaway system which works well. (Separate entrance and drop off box works great)

Came here for a surprise birthday meal for my fiance. The food was delicious and the night ended with a lovely cake put on by the restaurant. Will definitely visit again if in the area.

We are new to Nepalese food and the restaurant helped us choose dishes that contained ingredients that we liked. It was for my husband’s birthday and we had it delivered by a lovely young lady. The whole meal was delicious and there were nothing but empty plates!!! Oh and they also were happy to include Gurkha beer too in the order.... will return thank you for your help and kindness

We recently had a private party (Covid compliment) for my wife’s birthday. The venue was arranged for our bubbles and was laid out really well. We had great communication with Sudha & Mani over the arrangements. As expected, the service from Milan & his team was excellent, serving us starters & drinks before we had a curry buffet for mains. The curries were delicious and there was plenty of food for all our 29 guests.Everybody commented on how tasty the food was after we offered a mild, medium & hot curry! We would have no problem going back for a meal or party in the future, a great restaurant with a warm & welcoming team!

After months of shielding and having my first visit from Family for a triple birthday celebration, I wasn't quite ready to eat out but wanted a celebratory meal at home. The really lovely restaurant owner Sudha, phoned me and chatted a great lengths about my requirements and what dishes would travel well so that it could be at its best when it was delivered. We chose a selection of starters, mains, vegetable / side dishes , rice and breads and they all arrived piping hot and thoroughly delicious! We also had the wonderful surprise of a bottle of wine and some beers and prosecco delivered with it as a gift to help the celebrations! The food was excellent , just the right amount of heat as I explained we all liked pretty spicy dishes, lots of varied texture and flavours. It felt that even though it was delivered to us at home, it was made with just as much care and attention as if we had been eating in the restaurant. I would thoroughly recommend!

We visited for a celebration meal when the restaurant was very busy. The food was outstanding, lots of layers of flavour, amazing choice and grease free. We love so many dishes but particularly the minis to start and the many vegetarian main courses. The sizzling chicken plata smells amazing! What a gem of a restaurant.

After having this wonderful place recommended to me by several friends, I decided to bring my husband for his birthday. Wow! Because of the current situation all the tables are evenly spaced out with only 6 tables at any one time being used. Hand sanitisers available and staff wearing visors.The food was amazing, piping hot and delicious. The service was swift and friendly. We will definitely be back again soon.

This review is for their take away and delivery service, which I've been enjoying since lockdown. We are shielding so haven't been able to go to a restaurant yet.However the food is fabulous even on take away. We are now ordering it once a week, As our treat, and haven't been disappointed once. The curries are delicious and spicy, even the popodums arrive crisp and warm and tasty. The full menu is available and they arrive hot and promptly. Really highly recommended. Our favourite weekly treat!

I’m impressed with any business right now that can make the most of the current situation. I haven’t had a take away for weeks and following local recommendations decided to try them out. Easy online ordering, food was delivered and was hot. It was also very well cooked and tasty as well.

The Gurkha lives to laugh and loves to make you happy. The staff are wonderful and they will help you select a meal full of their culture, palette and zest. Water or Gurkha beer, the experience of the Gurkha Durbar is as heart-warming as it is fulfilling.

Having lived in Grayshott for a few years now and passed this place regularly, we finally got round to popping in and did so for my Birthday. The restaurant was empty, probably due to the Corona scare, probably due to being a Thursday night but this was no problem. The staff were friendly and we ordered some popadoms and a bottle of wine whilst we looked at the extensive menu. Staff were fairly tentative to begin with but a relaxed approach as the evening went on. Our mains arrived hot in temperature and taste but found the flavours lacking. I ordered a hot and sour prawn dish but the dish was unfortunately not very flavourful. It was nice but I expected some good strong flavours. The prawns within the dish were perfectly cooked and my husbands dish was too. After we finished our meal we received hot towels, which were a nice touch and sat back and awaited the dessert menu, which I imagine they have? Or if not, then surely the bill would follow. We patiently waited over 20 minutes, but nothing , so by this time we had finished the rest of the wine and were no longer interested in desserts so my husband went up to ask to pay the bill. In an empty restaurant we would have expected to have been asked in regards to desserts, if we wanted any more drinks or at least be bought the bill, but we were just abandoned as it were whilst staff replaced and chatted amongst themselves at the other end of the empty restaurant. I had such high hopes but left feeling a little disappointed. I will return to give them another go and perhaps try something different from the menu next time and perhaps when the restaurant is a little busier….

Met up with family here for a birthday meal. The family has Ghurka connections so it seemed like an appropriate choice to rendez vous from different parts of the country. And we all love a curry! Spacious restaurant simply decorated but with lots of ghurka memorabilia. We had a warm welcome and service was good. The lovely owner was most helpful with our selection and we were not disappointed. A mixture of lovely curries, rice, breads and vegetable dishes washed down with plenty of beer and wine. I would definitely recommend and hope to return again before too long.

I really enjoyed eating at this restaurant. Im new to the area so just discovering places. This is the best spicy food restaurant i have come across in the area - its nepalese and better than all the local indian restaurants I have tried - similar in taste although flavour more subtle. The staff are so friendly and smily and make you feel really welcome- just thinking of them makes me happy! - and the food is very tasty and full of flavour. I will definitely be back!

The restaurant was fair;ly busy, quite noisy with some loud customers. The food was delicious, though not as chilli hot as we expected. Service was good, but not quick.

We attended a fund raiser at this Nepalese restaurant and the food was great- they catered for my vegetarian tastes and also the fact that I don't like spices. The owners were charming and accommodating and it was a very pleasant lunch

Picked up a leaflet at a local fete, thought i will give it a try. With a couple of friend booked a table on a Saturday night by phone they was very helpful in getting the time we required. On arrival we had a warm welcome, Service very good and staff and owners very helpful. food excellent tastier than indian i would recommend.

So made sure in advance that we checked opening times on their website for lunch during the week, said they were open....but firmly closed when we turned up at 1pm. Came from Guildford, totally wasted journey

My brother in law booked a table here to celebrate his birthday, it was the first time any of us had been to the Gurkha Durbar and we were pleasantly surprised to find that not only was the food fantastic but so was the service. We were warmly welcomed and the owner even offered to get us a birthday cake if we wanted to. It is little touches like this that made our evening and we will definitely be returning.

This was our first visit and we were made to feel very welcome... The food was great and the staff were wonderful. This certainly won’t be out last visit.

Met up with friends for a birthday dinner. Was not my first visit and as usual food was very good and staff very friendly, even on a very busy night.

I took a group of people to the Durbar for a lunch. Although they are usually not open on a Monday they opened especially for us. The food was excellent - with the right mix of flavours. Even our most discerning palates were impressed. Definitely worth a revisit.

Tried their chefs special Chicken Kathmandu Wasa .absolutely fabulous dish ..succulent and fruity Spice with a lovely hot chilli finish. Used delivery service ..excellent really punctual. Highly recommended.. Great local food to have own my doorstep .. Treat yourself .. their menu is a culinary delight

For starter I ordered the butterfly Prawns, which had been smashed completely flat with a breadcrumb over them, then they had been dropped in dirty all until I could have used as a roof tile.

The ratings from everyone else tell the story. Great food (how do you get the rice that light and fluffy?), intriguing decor and warm hospitality made for a perfect family meal.

We had the tastiest meal at our last visit to Gurkha Durbar. The service was friendly, fun and attentive and the food was fantastic. Every dish was excellent. Couldn't recommend this restaurant enough. Sudha is such a fantastic host, involving the whole family with her personal chat. Thank you Sudha and all your staff.

At the end of a hard day, four blacksmiths and myself repaired to the Gurkha Durbar for a well earned curry. Having been hard at it in the forge the whole day, we weren't the tidiest of diners and were dry and ravenous.

A party of 14 of us had a superb meal in a friendly and entertaining atmosphere at The Gurkha Durbar,Grayshott about two weeks ago.The food was delicious, the service friendly and prompt and we felt very welcome.

A lovely restaurant serving traditional Nepalese food to a high standard, much more enjoyable than your run-of-the-mill curry house. And the service was fine, too.

Members of our family and friends rate this Nepalese restaurant very highly. The food is varied and traditional, which unlike some Indian food as served in the UK does not leave one with any possible bloated after effects.

We avoided overcrowded pubs and paying over the top for a mediocre Sunday lunch by going to the Gurkha Durbar for Mothering Sunday!

This is such a lovely restaurant tucked away in a beautiful village ... I 'liked' their page on Facebook and become the 1000th member to like ... in response the lovely owners, Sudha and Manila sent me a message offering me and a friend a free meal. The restaurant is beautiful, comfortable with good parking. The staff are wonderful and nothing was too much trouble .... and the food!!! Well, I have found my new favourite ... either to takeaway or eat in! It was utterly delicious ☺ Something for everyone as well!

Recently went to the Gurkha for a birthday meal. Was not disappointed I had the number 17 (poor memory of the actual name) it came out sizzling hot and packed full of flavours the staff were exceptional in their service and attention to each person in the restaurant.

The food was excellent and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit and we will definitely be coming back.

Has a fabulous time at the International Woman’s Day. Both food and company was outstanding and the hosts put on a stupendous event raising money for charity and having amazing guest speakers with wonderful raffle prices! I would definitely recommend and go back again!

A no-frills local serving delicious, fresh Nepalese food, with a welcome absence of colouring or oil. Wonderful vegetarian selection.

This was a wonderful event attended by around 60 ladies from various walks of life, many with an affinity with Nepal. We had a lovely 3 course lunch - starters served at the table, buffet main course with delicious chicken, lamb and vegetable dishes, with fresh fruit salad for 'afters'. Between each course were music, comedy, talks, and presentations about projects in Nepal. The Gurkha Durbar seems to be at the heart of the community, both geographically and by a number of fund-raising activities such as this, as well as Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and other international celebrations throughout the year

We have been there few times as New Octavia Dental Staff and the food is delicious and friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Definitely will recommend the restaurant.

This was the first time we had "eaten in" at the Gurkha Durbar. We went with some friends of ours from a very good local brewery, who were equally impressed with the quality of the cooking.

We were warmly welcomed. The service was very helpful explaining the various dishes which came promptly.Excellent cobra beer and juices. Altogether a very enjoyable venue for lunch with friends.

Lunch for the first time at this restaurant last Saturday was an absolute delight. Starter of freshly steamed Lamb MOMO with a glass of chardonnay, followed by TRISULI MACHHA (medium) Diced Monkfish in a spicy Nepalese sauce, for me, and the cod for my friend - absolutely delicious with chapati, spinach, KALO DAAL black lentils, and fresh salad. Did not have room for desert so took it home. Lovely restaurant with attentive staff. I will be working my way through the menu........

Had a meal here recently with friends who live in the village. Very tasty Nepalese food, served by friendly staff. It has been four years since we have been here - we won't leave it so long the next time.

We saw an offer on Facebook for buy one main course get one free and thought why not! We have had takeaways before, which have always been good, but never eaten in!

My wife & I visited at 6.00 pm on Wed 02/01/19 just as the restaurant was opening. Very warm welcome - drinks served straight away. The Manager, Malan, took our food order and we both found the meal delicious. This is a brilliant bargain in an area with plenty of competition. We shall definitely be returning.
