The Spice Bank in East Hampshire

I went to this resturant with 4 of my friends this saturday for dinner. I ordered a dish with Chicken Tikka which was half cooked and looked raw. I also ordered a chicken jalfrazy and chicken patiya which was not tasty at all. The food this chief cooked was one of the worst i have eaten in a long time.

A great evening a welcoming atmosphere . they looked after us all and made the children feel special . I think I have found my new favourite curry. I can't remember the name of the dish ( one of the specialties) rich velvety flavorful sauce and the tender melt in the mouth lamb & the perfect level of spice ... looking forward to your food festival..

Food is below average - I've had better in Sainsbury's. Space is minimal - too many tables crammed in. Service - Awful - took ages to get served, not offered drinks or poppadoms before ordering. Expensive - So not worth £65 for two main meals and a drink each - con!

Came here tonight for my birthday with my family. Absolutely delicious food and very friendly staff. We were made to feel really welcome and catered for. Thanks :) The lamb tikka and the korma were my favourite 😍

Superb food and service yet again. We visited for my birthday with the children as well and the waiters were so patient with them. Excellent value for money, especially on a Wednesday with the meal deal.

First time ordering from here as I live two hours away. Visiting my 'golden year' parents who very rarely have a takeaway. They ansolutely loved it! Indian cuisine is a favourite of mine and this was superb. Ordered online, very easy to order, pay and even time collection or delivery. We chose to collect, had a very warm welcome, great service, friendly and professional. The restaurant looks lovely, crisp white table clothes, nice atmosphere (even just collecting a takeaway). Next time we'll dine in. I would highly recommend. Usually I take 'photos but it wouldn't do the food justice on a takeaway occasion 😊.

This restaurant is fantastic. The service was amazing a food incredible. Stayed in the Swan hotel right opposite. Wonderful for a little night away with a fab meal. Disappointed with our second visit ,had Tandoori mixed grill but sadly missing the Tandoori very tasteless no spices .I know the the reason for this and waiter agreed with me .They was dealing with a very big party of people and a lot of them had the Tandoori mixed grill so when it came to my order they had obviously ran out of prepared Tandoori meat so i basically got a plate of plain unseasoned meat .I will add my partners curry was fine and they did knock 10% off the bill .But they should not off tried to con me with what was obviously not a tandoori .I may give them a second chance but not certain at the moment .

The restaurant was very nice, the food and service was good and we will go again however there was one thing that was annoying, we were served by a waiter that looked like he hadn't shaved for 3 days, he told us 2/3 times how he looked after his customers and when we came to pay the bill he asked how much tip he would be getting, i think one of our party left him a pound just to make a point.

Food was absolutely outstanding, the kitchen were very receptive to our tailored orders and G was a real character and a nice guy. They have the most amazing homemade chilli chutney that they serve with poppadoms and they gave us some to take back, great place

I was recommended a fish curry which was excellent. Customer service in general was very good although they did NOT honour a 10% web promotion onto our bill explaining it had expired and should have been taken down. The atmosphere was nice and we had a lovely round table however towards the end of our evening another customer entered with their shirt undone which kind of brought down the tone. I’m not sure the entire was appropriate firstly in winter or for a sit down meal.

Enjoyed an excellent meal here with some friends. We all opted for the Buffet Menu, which was really good value, plus a few extras. Service was really attentive, but relaxed and good humoured. I couldn't fault the food at all. Portions were just right. Looking forward to my next visit👍🏻

Fantastic authentic Indian food with a great atmosphere and attentive staff. The dishes that we has were absolutely delicious and a few of my clients were extremely impressed! This is certainly the best place for a decent Indian meal. Update 2/12/23 - Another exceptional meal at The Spice Bank in Alton. Brilliant service again and welcoming. 5 stars.

I visited this place for the first time for my mates 18th birthday and I was outstanded by how good the food was and I will be definitely coming back I recommend this place 100% amazing staff and manager.

The choice of food is excellent. I can recommend The exotic and Bhuna. Cooked to a very high standard. The staff are very welcoming and friendly.The decor is light and airy. I can highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good Indian food.They can cater for vegetarian and vegan.If it’s not on the menu,they can make it for you.I will be back next week. There was 3 of us for Sunday lunch, taking advantage of the Buffet deal. This includes, one starter, one main, one side, and one rice. The menu is wonderfully diverse, and the chefs dishes are really well chosen, with dishes ranging from incredibly mild, through fragrant to very hot. The tandoori prawns were utterly perfect, the breads and rice were delicious, and the Lall Mirchi blew my mind; it was complex, beautifully balanced, and absolutely a 10/10 from me, the dahba chicken was also absolutely superb, so fragrant and moreish. My partner had keema rice, naan, and a lamb dish. He utterly destroyed it in short order! Man is currently in a food coma on the sofa. The side dishes were lush, the chickpeas and gobi aloo I can definitely recommend. All in all a fantastic decision for a Sunday pig out ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I Highly recommend spice bank definitely the best Indian restaurant in Alton! The food was to perfection and we felt very welcomed by stuff. Been here few times already for various occasions. It has a pleasant atmosphere and the manager Sadik goes out of his way to ensure we was ok.

I was there with my family last sunday. Quite possibly the most uncomfortable we have felt in a restaurant. Waiter just kept walking about... around our table, up and down. There were only two tables taken, so there was just no need. Food was just about Okay. Waiters talk with each other loudly, I'd say bad atmosphere as they push you like finish Your eating and go away from restaurant ..... as I say 'Bizarre!'

Last night I paid another visit to The Spice Bank and had another fantastic meal. Wow, it was so good! I love this place! I had Ajwain lamb chops for starter, lamb Lall Mirchi for main, with a side of Channa Massala and a Chapati. Every dish was fantastic, every mouthful a delight! The food is great value, too. The staff are friendly and helpful and the service is fast. If you love Indian food, I'm confident that you're going to love this place, too!

Fantastic service. I mentioned it was my brothers birthday and the staff had given us a lovely table and put up a ‘Happy Birthday’ banner. The service was brilliant and they even surprised us with a delicious birthday cake and candles, and some extra drinks. Very good service and all of the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food was really delicious and plenty of it! We will definitely be back soon!

Perfect food, perfect service and very friendly staff. Booked for a birthday in a large group and all of the food came out at the same time, fresh and hot (this is something I have found that a lot of restaurants in the area struggle with, but The Spice Bank managed to handle the table size). The booking even came with a complimentary cake which was also very delicious. Everyone had plenty of food, alcoholic drinks that were all generously sized portions with the cost staying very reasonable.

Excellent restaurant - knowledgeable staff, courteous and caring. Menu - off the scale, far from a standard curry house. Would highly recommend the Afghan lamb - carefully, slowly cooked with a delicacy of herb and spice.

My partner and me went for a banquet on Wednesday 12.7.23 The food was amazing . We were just staying for one night,so glad we went to the Spice Bank best Indian we have had in a long time .All the staff were very attentive.

Great curry, and great variation of options and very attentive service. Went as a group of 20 and had mixed starters and very kindly they quickly cooked a separate vegetarian option for one of our group. Everyone very happy with the main meals…very tasty. 🍛

Excellent flavours, and always happy to modify a dish to suit tastes. Clean and fresh feeling to the restaurant, food is very tasty. So can’t fault it and the service is with a smile.

Curry arrived with writing on the inside of the lid resulting in ink dripping into the curry. 40 minutes later and still waiting for a replacement whilst rice and bread goes cold Appalling customer service, being accused of lying but the driver was spot on, very polite and completely understood our issue

We took 13 guys there all tried different dishes and they loved it good value for money and good service they all will be making more visits.

Probably the best restaurant in Alton for flavour but not enough Lamb in my Karai Gosht otherwise would have given 5 stars. Lamb was nice and tender. Perhaps could consider offering more meat for a premium for those who are very hungry or are only wanting to buy one main course without a starter to fill up on.

I’ve eat in the best Indian restaurants and this place is fantastic. Staff are so friendly and the food is amazing. Also a cheeky free drink. Fully recommend the Spice Bank

6* if i could, four of us had the banquet offer last night, a nice amount of food for only £15.50 each. the food was delicious and well cooked, good portions and a great variety on the menu.

We've ordered 3 meals from this place 1st one (when it opened) was great 👍 2nd time food was cold (didnt matter we microwaved it) & the order was wrong. Didn't complain just got on with it. Our 3rd time tonight ordered it was Cold, the sauce was so watery and bland it literally taste like a wet chicken and rice. Also very expensive for the quality of food :( won't be ordering again

This is the first time we have been to The Spice Bank. The food was good as well as the service. The atmosphere was lacking as we were the only people left in the restaurant while we ate our food. This was at 8 pm , and we were the only ones left. Felt a little bit uncomfortable as it seemed like the staff were hoovering. We booked a table using their system online, and we had a text back asking us to confirm the booking. The restaurant is on the ground floor, so there's no nasty steps to contend with. Which if you are disabled like myself is a big plus point.

Recently we visited this restaurant and found the following. Beautifull surroundings and well positioned tables and seating. Food was very good and service was attentive but not over the top. We found the portions to be generous and extremely tasty. The recommendations that could be offered is that plates to be used should be heated, and that food warmers used as without either the food gets cold very quickly.

We had our first visit to the Spice Bank this evening with a group of friends. We all took advantage of the Banquet Night and were very impressed with both the excellant quality and value for money of the food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning.

The curry was nice if u like very watered down with hardly any flavour or’s spice also the rice was dry i spent £40 on our dinner and i will not be going there again still best Curry place in Alton is the balti Tandoori, but it’s changed its name to Gurkha

The food was good and the Naan bread was the best I have tasted. Bathe staff were friendly, but clearly unable to cope the the amount of customers they had despite it being midweek. Despite having booked more than two weeks before, there was no table available and we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated with a further 40 for our meal to arrive. I would recommend going when it is not busy.

We had our first meal here on Friday night. What can I say other than, it was the best meal we have had so far in Alton. The staff are very friendly and attentive, the food is well presented and delicious, And the biggest surprise of all was the price of the wine and the final bill, fantastic value for money! Honestly in our opinion, it is the best Indian we have tried in years. Thoroughly recommended, we will go back very soon.

Amazing food and dining experience. I booked a table for 2 for Valentine's day and all I can say is 'wow!' The food was absolutely amazing and really authentic. Also the general ambiance and atmosphere was also just as good. I recommend The Spice Bank and the staff were brilliant and always around if we needed them. I'll be back in the very near future.

First time, ok. Perhaps I need to investigate the menu better. Had a Jalfrezi, asked for extra chilli, good heat. Naan good and decent tarka dhall. Can't usurp our favourite place though.

Really enjoyed our first visit here over the Christmas period. The team were able to fit in our booking if 8 at short notice with no issues. All the food we ordered came out in good time and all tasted excellent. Each curry had its own distinct flavours and qualities. Portions were a little bit smaller than some of the other Indian restaurants in Alton, however we all left full, and there was no wasted food, so no complaints there. We are very much look forward to visiting again.

We attended the spice bank for my aunts 90th birthday. There were 21 of us. The staff were amazing the food was excellent, we all had a lovely time. They made us feel welcome and special especially my Aunt. Thank you every member of staff that made this momentous occasion a great event.
