The Saffron in East Hampshire

Even with a 4 out of 5 food relating it doesn't subtract for a first and second time trying their food which I have to say is bang on good.

One of my favourite curry houses. We drive from Farnham every time for a curry as we are always made to feel welcome and will be fitted in. Food is good and there is nearby parking. Fairly priced and plenty of food. There is an extensive menu and I am slowly making my way through their specials. Back soon.

Lovely little sit in restaurant serving curries and "Indian" starters.

Service was exceptional. Very quick and attentive. It was Saturday night, and there was a steady flow of takeaway pick-ups. The menu doesn't stipulate dietary information, but the staff were happy to explain the dishes. I enjoyed a vegetable bhuna, and my partner had a chicken podina (rice, naan, etc.). Unfortunately, no diary free desserts as it's all ice cream. Overall, very good, probably one of the better Indian restaurants I've been to in a while.

1st experience with The Safron, ordered and delivered within 30 mins, excellent service and fantastic food...

Ordered online for takeaway. Arrived on time - Food was ready - Restaurant looked really good. Got back all was correct. Tasted great. Cannot ask for any more although I wish they did Saag Aloo which I did not see on the menu.

We learnt the hard way that it‘s better to ring up and ask for advice, we chose via the website and a leaflet but the Masala Chicken Tikka, Plain Nan and Chicken Butter are prepared with extra sugar and unfortunately we found it far too sweet.

Tasty food and good value for money on 'Banquet Wednesday'.

We used to visit the Saffron regularly when I was working, less so now I've retired. The restaurant has about 40 covers for eat in and a constant stream of take away customers. One day, we hankered after a curry, so made a last minute decision to venture the 7 miles to Four Marks. As it was a Wednesday night we were able to choose the 'banquet' for £16.95 a head. This included a starter, main course, side dish and either rice or naan. We picked one pilau rice with a peshwari naan, and added popadams with chutney and a couple of Cobras. The food was great with friendly and not in your face service. Our total bill for £51, plus a deserved £5 tip. What's not to.like?

Had a lovely meal here, luxurious restaurant and popular take away. Starter, dips , poppadoms and main course with a beer and tip, £35. Highly recommended.

Traveling to Southampton we called in to saffron as we stayed at Travelodge. This was a great choice and very busy. Nice atmosphere great service. We had chicken tikka masala vegetable rice plain narn, Dansak( the dansak was very hot)plain pilau rice, poppadoms pickle tray. £36 If we lived locally we would definitely call again

Very welcoming as we entered the restaurant. Shown to our table. Ordered our drinks and our poppadoms and pickles. We were not rushed to order our main meals. Which is good to have rest in between. Ordered main meals and more drinks. The plates came out first not to hot. The meal came which was steaming . We all enjoyed our meals. Must say the restaurant was a good atmosphere English music and good company from surrounding customers. We were offered a drink on the house which all had. Think this is for special customers. The staff are very attentive making sure everything is ok. Meals was very reasonable £60 per couple including a tipnwhich we thought was good. We caught bus from Alton to fourmarks then back home again. Very convenient bus stop not far from restaurant.

All of the dishes are wonderful, loads of flavour, fast, and really friendly staff. It’s a winner for takeout and dine in!

Stayed in the area and had a takeaway from here and it was delicious, food was well cooked and fresh very very happy with the food. One of the best i've had in a long time. amazing service and great quality food!

A number of fantastic visits over the last few weeks as part of festive celebrations including friends and explorer scouts. Ash and the team always made us welcome with good food and excellent service. Also good selection of celiac options 😊

Was passing through Alton and suddenly discovered this place. Very tasty, freshly cooked food. Service was good, very friendly.

We are local and most fortunate that the Saffron is on our doorstep. We frequent this restaurant at least twice a month. As a non curry aficionado there is still a great selection of meals for me. We have been there when full and also the only patrons sometimes (usually early 5.30 pm) the level of service and food remains constant… EXCELLENT

The food was good the place was very clean that is the good side now the bad the service was very very poor it was a long time between courses then when the bill came they charged £3,95 for services the place only had about 10 customers when we arrived so what's it going to be like when it is full

This is by far the friendliest freshest Indian restaurant I have ever been to, food was just amazing tenderest chicken ever, Mobin was so helpful and friendly making it the most enjoyable evening out

Came for a birthday meal tonight with 3 regular ladies that use you alot, I can say that it wasn't good, why does your chefs use pre cooked chicken and the sauce was like cooked in sugar, it was so sweet, the onion bhaji was so salty, but I was with company so I didn't make a fuss, it was basically £100 that we would have been better getting a tesco takeaway

Had a lovely early evening meal at The Saffron. Our first visit didn't let us down. Warm welcome and friendly service. Delicious food! Good selection of traditional dishes with some chef specials. Nothing flashy, just good food. Chicken Shatkora and Lamb Motika (forgive the spelling) were both lovely. Looking forward to our next visit..

Brilliant - recently moved to the area and have used a few times! First time I got a takeaway and had no plates or cutlery as we just moved in, the restaurant even let me borrow plates and knives/forks to use. Since then they've been consistently brilliant every time we've ordered.

The whole Experience was amazing. I had the chicken tikka bhuna and it was incredible.. staff were amazing, a lad called Khan was waiting on us and was nothing but helpful and funny. Completed the food and the evening to a point. Can’t wait to get back! Thanks guys

Ordered a rogan josh, was the least flavoursome curry dish I have ever eaten. The chicken was massively over cooked, to the point it would fall apart, it was so dry and dull.

Food is fine , bottle beers , shame not draught. And the owner must sort out the speaker near the front window. Speaker is blown and distorted and is bloody annoying. So much so I would rather not return for that .

Over the last 6 weeks my husband and I have had 3 takeaways from the Saffron in Four Marks which have all been wonderful. The ingredients were full of flavour, cooked to perfection, perfect sauces and absolutely delicious. The Naan breads were melt in the mouth and obviously freshly cooked and very hot. The owner and staff are always courteous, professional and friendly. We are so lucky to have this local curry house in Four Marks.

Nice little Local Indian - Eat in or Take away - Food was good value for money and the staff are very friendly. They do a great all you and eat Sunday special which is highly recomended!

Decided to try The Saffron while staying nearby. It’s probably the nicest Indian takeaway I’ve ever had. The meat was extremely tender, the duck masala was like cutting through butter and the sauce was delicious. Arrived in good time and still at a good temperature. Would highly recommend.

Form someone that doesn’t like a curry or hot spicy food it takes a lot to get me into an an Indian The greeting was lovely like going into an old friends home, the onion Bhaji amd duck tika starter where amazing then the mains we ordered chicken Pesanda mushroom rice a naan bread and left a dish up to the waiter to choose. I have never had a curry so good great flavour and tast such a nice place with amazing food be back soon

Best Indian in Hampshire that I've tried. We always go out of our way to get it despite there being many options closer to home. Can't rate the Lamb balti high enough.

Have had three different meals from here previously, all different dishes, and all were equally brilliant.

Lovely traditional Indian restaurant tucked amongst local shops on a village road and close by to the Travelodge Alton Fours Hotel. Staff were very friendly and the restaurant was clean and spacious. Starters arrived very quickly and so did meals which were tailored to our palette. The meals were lovely, hot and tasty and everyone in our Hamlets Hike and Trek club enjoy the evening dinner. We are regular customers. The food is always brilliant and we always enjoy our takeaway. Most recent order, decided to try the butter chicken. Really lovely flavours, the keema naan was absolutely perfect too. Keep doing what you are doing.

I don’t know why I haven’t been for an Indian since I moved to the area, but after six years it seemed worth the walk. We were not disappointed! The food was awesome, the choice was epic and the service was fabulous. Looking forward to visiting again!

I have been out with group of friends first time to the saffron because pf recommendations. We recieved complimentary drinks and side dish. really good atmosphere and the waiter was very helpful. Really good dinning experience. Will visit again

My husband went there tonight with a group of friends. One sent his meal back 3 times as wrong food. 3 others had chicken dishes where the chicken was pink inside as not cooked They couldn’t eat their meals. Hubby had samosa to start that was partly frozen inside. Waiter came round and asked if everything was ok when one of the guys started to complain and it was totally ignore by the waiter as he just said thank you and walked away. Hubby said he will not be returning. This is a shame as he has heard good reviews from friends.

We were staying locally to visit family, and ordered a takeaway online. Very efficient process and the food was ready a couple of minutes before our chosen time. I'm always a bit concerned about food remaining hot throughout a meal, but on this occasion, our final dish was still hot 90 mins after collection. Everything we ordered was excellent: large portions each with plenty of the main ingredient. We seriously overestimated the quantity of food, and we had to keep one dish for the next day! £25 for poppadoms, chutney, 1 starter, 2 mains: a bargain for the quality and quantity.

I would just like to thank the Saffron in Four Marks for kindly delivering our take away meal tonight. Although we live locally and would normally collect a takeaway we have been without heating, apart from our wood burner, since Thursday so to have it delivered was a real treat, so we didn’t have to venture out in the freezing cold. The food for the four of us was delicious as it always is and we all had different dishes which were all hot and tasty. The service is also extremely good, courteous and always with a smile. How lucky are we locally to have such an amazing service which is so appreciated! Thank you so much.

Thank you so much to the Saffron this evening for organising three delicious different sauces to go with our left over turkey! We phoned and ordered them to take away and nothing was too much trouble. We also ordered lemon rice, mushroom rice,peshwari naan, garlic naan and plain naan breads and Bombay aloo. We were visiting the area and found this little gem online as nearby takeaways. After reading the good reviews we thought we would try it. The food definitely lived up to expectations, maybe even better! Lovely friendly people working there and quick service of piping hot food. My partner had the chicken biryani (the best he says he’s ever had) and I had the paneer tikka masala (tasted amazing!!) all the other sundries were top notch too. Good value for money also. Would 100% recommend for a satisfying takeaway.

Well I’m not saying I like food super hot and I have never had a takeaway from here before, but the dishes I normally choose had 3 chillies and so I went for a methi which was 2 chillies, I must say a crumpet would have had more spice, it was also very greasy and a methi is meant to be a dry curry, the mushroom pilau also very greasy, my husband had chicken tikka and chickpeas also very bland. I like to order things that taste authentic but just didn’t feel that this did, perhaps it was just an off night, but based on first experience I wouldn’t go back

My husband and I visited the Saffron restaurant this evening with my twin Brothers and enjoyed delicious food and great service. My Brothers had a request for a dish that wasn’t on the menu, but we were assured it was not a problem and they were not disappointed.We enjoyed a lovely evening with good food, well cooked, served hot and fresh and excellent friendly service. How lucky are we to have this restaurant on our doorstep!!We will definitely be supporting this local business either with takeaways, or with dining inside the restaurant.

The staff are very polite and friendly. Make sure to ask for the chicken tikka (as opposed to plain chicken) in any dish as the flavour is to die for. The dishes from the house specials are all amazing also. Whilst some of the milder dishes can be very sweet, they are always happy to adjust spice/sweetness to taste, and the staff give great recommendations if you are unsure what to order. Staff were attentive and very safe and cautious, following all Covid-19 guidelines. A real gem that we are lucky to have in the village and must support!

Excellent service, four different types of curry and rice, poppadoms, samosa, sauces and dips were all excellent and enjoyed, Sufficient for 7 helpings. The food was ready for collection on time, and ready to eat.

Had our first takeaway from here tonight. Couldn’t fault it. Our telephone order was taken by a friendly, pleasant gentleman. The food was hot. Probably the best lamb dansak I’ve ever had and my friends chicken tikka masala was also really good. Garlic naan was also really good. Absolutely perfect. Will definitely return very soon.

Cannot fault the service from the staff who really want you to enjoy your food and service so are always going the extra mile. The food is in my opinion as nice as a certain 2 restaurants I used to visit who won awards some years ago for the quality of food. The saffron definitely is the best in the area and would give these 2 award winning restaurants a good battle. We are fussy and my family of 5 consists of 1 meat eater fussy teenager, 1 adult Vegan, 1 adult vegetarian, 2 young child vegetarians who are very fussy and nothing is too much trouble. They often adapt dishes and advise on what we can and cant have and ensure we are all happy with our options. The price is a tiny bit higher than the local competition but go eat at the others and you will very quickly realise why!!! it's worth the extra few pence or quid or so on a dish as the quality is worlds better than the cheaper alternatives that are tasteless and cheap and nasty tasting. Saffron consistently produces lovely tasting food of an excellent quality and this is always worth paying a tiny bit more for. Well done saffron. I'm very lucky live within 10 mins of this place. I also wish the staff all the best for providing food during this crisis the country is dealing with. They are risking their health to feed the community and I hope their business will survive this. Been here a few times in the past, but the last time i went i was disappointed to find that he food was greasy and one of the sides that we had ordered wasnt correct, this was a TakeAway i had ordered so i cant speak for what the in-house dining is like as i havent been for a sit-down meal there for a long while

Saffron wins my vote as a restaurant worth going to. The food is served fast, tastes very nice and prices are reasonable. I tried the briyani and garlic rice. Both were excellent. This restaurant is highly recommended.

In a little village like Four Marks, Saffron is a welcome sight indeed. It offers fine dining experience, very delicious food and prices are fair. I tried their briyani dish and the taste was very acceptable. Keep on serving great Punjabi cuisine, guys.

Came here with my son for his 18 the food was fantastic and staff were lovely and made him feel spoilt on his birthday ! My curry was lovely and we had starters mains and my son drunk a fair amount of alcohol and the bill came in really reasonably ! We would definitely return and it’s handy we can walk to this place ! Decor is a bit dated but the food can’t be faulted not the service .

Called in for meal as it was near the hotel. Had an absolute lovely meal well presented & could not fault it. Great food and service,will make a point of calling in next time I am in the area.

Ordered take away Palak Paneer for my vegetarian wife only to discover The Saffron had used a cheddar style cheese instead which melted through the spinach and ruined the dish. Paneer is easy to make at home and available from any supermarket, the chef should be embarrassed.

Small restaurant, efficient staff. Food is great and takeaways are good value

We went as a family with our two boys aged 10/11 and we all had meals that were absolutely delicious. We were staying at the nearby Travellodge and walked up and were so pleased we did. Highly recommended....if you love Indian Food defo give this one a try. All the staff were ever so friendly too.

Recently visit this Indian after selecting it due to other reviewers comments. We were not from the area, but we were staying locally and only had the reviews from others to go by. From the outside the place looked a bit run down, but both my boyfriend and I thought the food was great! We ordered standard curries (a masala and a balti) alongside numerous other sides and breads, and everything tasted fantastic. We could not fault it!! It was flavoursome and the portions were very good! The service was also wonderful - the waiters were very polite and very attentive. Would definitely recommend!!

We visited on a Saturday evening, and they managed to squeeze us in even though we hadn't booked and they had a couple of large groups. Good service and food, decor feels a bit dated and in need of a freshen up. Prices about average. Would return.

Enjoyed thoroughly the four dishes we tried. The butter chicken was quite a different to others we have had and delicious. Good service.
