Thai Lounge Ropley in East Hampshire

Have dined there a few times and it was always very good, if pricy. However, because of Covid, meaning the restaurant was closed, we decided to have a takeaway for my birthday. Not the same at all and all I can say is that their food does not travel well!!!! In fact I picked up a generally cold unattractive mess. The chicken satay and the noodles heated up well, but most of the rest was greasy, stodgy and unappealing - if tasty. Will definitely go again when we are allowed back in the restaurant but no more take-aways!!! Shame.

Fabulous restaurant, great menu, the Thai green curry is amazing. Speedy service and friendly staff.

Hadn’t been in before but feel it’s a lovely space and would love to eat outside in warmer weather. Food was delicious, service was excellent. Wasn’t cheap but don’t mind when food as service was as they were. Prices are comparable to other thai restaurants.

We arrived at 20:30, got seated at 20:45 waited over 1h30 for our STARTERS, the mains came approx 30 mins later. Starters were OK. My main had egg shell in for whatever reason- considering there was no egg in the dish! They offered to take it back but I refused considering I was so tired and starving and didn’t want to wait another 30 minutes! We left the restaurant at 23:30 after arriving at 20:30 (see receipt for proof) There were 4 waiters serving approximately 30/40 tables including outside seating. Not following the social distancing. They’re clearly cramming tables in and employing minimum staff to catch up on what they’ve missed out on. The bill still came to over £55, despite being part of the eat out to help out. Have they raised their prices to accommodate this? Massively disappointing - won’t be returning and will be telling family & friends not to either!

After visiting multiple times in the past we were very disappointed to visit during 'Eat out to help out'. They were obviously overbooking and didn't even care for our reservation name when we turned up. Had to wait 20 minutes after our reservation time to be seated and then after being placed outside with a darkening sky we still weren't served for another 40 minutes (not even for drinks). After finally being served I asked to be moved inside as I couldn't see my partner let alone any food that may turn up. Then waited a further 50 minutes for starter to turn up (10pm by then - and this is after we were asked if we'd actually ordered!). The food was great as per previous visits but the service and overbooking of the restaurant was atrocious. Won't be going back for a while after this experience.

We regularly visit our daughter and son in law who live near. We always have a takeaway from here in the evening. Last nights was superb you are never disappointed with the top quality of the food, excellent. The staff are friendly but missed the owner Mr Moon last night who is always hospitable. 100% recommend this establishment

We have been for many meals and had many takeaways from the Thai Lounge. We ordered 'our usual' and the quality was better than we had remembered. Service was brilliant and the staff remain very caring about everyhting they do. Thank you team and keep up the great work :-)

We were delighted to hear that our favourite Thai Lounge re opened after lockdown and decided to celebrate with a takeaway as I am not yet allowed out.How disappointed we were! I have no idea when our food was cooked but it was certainly not recently! My Thai Lounge Pad Thai was a solid brown lump of noodles and the king prawns were so overcooked as to be uneatable. My husband fared no better. His Gai Pau Chilli Basil was the same - the noodles were a solid brown crust at the bottom and the chicken like cardboard. Sadly most of it went into the binWe should taken it back but didn’t want to drive having had a glass of wine.We have been eating here since the restaurant opened and this is the first time we have ever had a bad meal. We hope it is not a sign of things to come

On a trip to Four Marks Hampshire it was my birthday so we went out for a family meal. This is a litttle out of the way but the food, seating staff are without doubt 5 star, OK a little pricey but the quality of food makes it well worth it. I have no trouble recommending this restaurant and will eat there again when back in the area.

I have always absolutely loved this restaurant since it opened as the food was amazing, however I do have to say I’m quite sad to notice certain things have changed on their menu. In particular the chicken hot and sour soup, and the beef satay was my absolute favourite but unfortunately the last few times we’ve ordered it, it is nothing like it used to be. I don’t know if there’s a new chef but the food has dropped in flavour and quality and it’s really sad. I have to say it is still very nice but in comparison to what it was there’s a big difference. We unfortunately will have to try somewhere else next time

We have now been 3 of 4 times to this restaurant which in itself tells a story. The food has always been excellent and the service is first class.We have been when it has been very quiet and also when it has been busy. Neither scenario seems to affect food quality or service.

We went early evening on spur of moment.It was very quiet, the service was good and food very tasty. Was a bit surprised that my king prawn meal came with prawns still in shell but covered in curry sauce, really difficult to eat and had loads of shell on my plate with no bowl to move across to. No hand towel to freshen up either. Others also had lovely food, enjoyed the meal but thought a bit expensive for what we had. Glad we went though.

Not the cheapest Thai food around, but the best. Horseshoe benches make for cosy seating, for two to eight. Charming staff. But why does the entrance have to be via the toilets?

Absolutely lovely food, reasonably priced. Will come back time and time again. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The tables are laid beautifully with crisp white linen and sparkling clean wine glasses. Superb.

This is a great Thai restaurant. Food always lovely. Modern, clean restaurant and very good service.

We stopped here by chance and are inspired to write a review so we can find it again. The duck and the giant prawns were both lovely.

The location beside the side of the road doesn't inspire but don't be fooled.The food and service are good. The lighting is a bit dim in the evening- the tables would benefit from their own light. Best dish we had was the sea-bass starter. For the bill we paid around £25 each for 4 including tip.

We made a last minute decision to eat out and came across Thai Lounge. It was our first visit- we arrived early, had a delicious meal, good service and a reasonable bill ☺️ definitely worth a visit.

I ate here with family for my daughter's birthday. The location is quite rural but it is on the A31 and has a good location with parking. Inside the restaurant has been totally refurbished and looks amazing. Very modern but comfortable. The service is very nice and friendly. There is a good wine list and extensive menu. The portions are very generous. The food is excellent. If you like Thai food then do visit, you will enjoy the experience.

This restaurant has been converted from a public house. Plenty of parking. As always it’s best to book. An impressive menu and decent sized portions. The only downside for me was most of the the menu had 1,2 or 3 chillies! Slightly pricey but the food was beautifully presented not a great dessert menu. The staff were attentive. Unfortunately we won’t make another visit unless of course the menu changes on a regular basis to or less spicy.

Food was great, good size portions,would definitely recommend it. Had gone with friends, my husband and I shared the platter for 2 meat starters and our friends shared the veg version, we all really enjoyed them. The mains were delicious, and everything was eaten. Definitely worth a visit, at least once.

Food was wonderful, good choices. The service was understated efficiency, attentive but not so much to be annoying. Lovely atmosphere, busy but with enough space that you could talk and hear your table companions, not the next table. From someone who struggles to hear in crowded situations that is such a treat!

We had had it recommended by a number of people but were not expecting it to be so good. The décor is fabulous and a lovely calm atmosphere with quite music in the background. The round booths are great and perfect for privacy. Staff very friendly and excellent service. Delicious food and good portions. Cold Beer and wine - always a bonus! Great patio outdoor area with comfortable seats.

Thank you for such fabulous food again this evening. We either eat in or takeaway. The quality is always superb for either option and this evening was no exception.

We are here on holiday and decided to go to the Thai lounge. What a lovely restaurant, plenty parking and staff were very attentive. Cost was about £70 for three of us with 2 starters and 3 mains and soft drinks which was fine. The food was so good. It is a restaurant that I hope to be able to go to again at some point.

Lovely lay out of the restaurant, we sat in one of the round booths. Service and staff were very good and friendly. The food was really good with great flavour. Large dishes for a Thai but still plenty of flavour.

First impressions count. There's a lovely aroma as you walk in, clean and fresh restaurant. A modern place, beautiful in simplicity, a spacious restaurant with seating available outside and a large car park too. Air conditioning was ideal on a hot day, most welcoming.

My brother and his wife from London visited us. We decided to try this Thai restaurant for future dinning experience with friends and family. The service was friendly from the time we were seated and our orders been taken. We were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of authentic Thai dishes that were served. Vegetarian ordered for my wife and my sister in law was excellent. My brother and I had prawn and chicken dishes. They were excellent too. We had good time, we recommend this restaurant in the country side with outstanding customer service by the staff.

Visited here with my family for a birthday meal. Menu has a good selection of authentic Thai dishes, I had tempura vegetables to start with a sweet chilly dipping sauce and Seafood pad cha for main. We shared noodles and egg fried rice and all was excellent. Was quiet when we went but I believe it does get busy. Would recommend.

The Thai Lounge was recommended to me and I am very glad it was. We went here for my father's birthday. There were just three of us and we each ordered different dishes, all of which were delicious.

Lovely food but sadly we were sat near the bar where there was a draft from the window & the air con, and sound of the phone ringing, which also meant there was less atmosphere. Staff were polite but felt rushed as we were asked a number of times if we were ready to order, more attention to general customer service would improve the experience at what has the potential to be an overall great restaurant.

Excellent service, even better food! The Massaman curry was INCREDIBLE! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The vino was also fab! Will definitely be a regular!

In a time of poor curry houses serving almost meatless meat curries Thai Lounge is a star.

After months of saying we must try it we finally did last night and we were not disappointed. Service was great and food was hot and fresh. The menu has great choice. Definitely returning soon!

We had a lovely meal with family and couldn't fault anything. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous, the food very tasty in a relaxing atmosphere. Plenty of car parking available too . Would definitely return.

Lamb Zab is possibly my favourite starter ever, fresh and spicy with an amazing taste. Followed by Jungle Curry that although very hot become addictive and leaves you feeling high on endorphins. Not the cheapest restaurant but worth every penny.

Came here last Saturday evening with my Wife & her work colleague. I've driven by this place numerous times and have always wanted to try it but as I live in Farnham, it's a bit of a trek. I should've made the effort sooner! From start to finish, every dish we ordered was perfect. I asked for my soup to be extra hot and it was! My Weeping Beef dish was so perfectly cooked it was incredible! What made it all the more pleasurable was that we made it clear that we were in no rush and they had no issues with that at all & didn't keep bothering us like some places do. All in all, the perfect night and all at a fair price. We will be back soon I hope!

Far from being a great Thai restaurant (as per our previous review) our last two visits have been disappointing. In fact our most recent visit means we won’t be returning unfortunately. Clearly the chef or chefs have changed and sadly they have put their own slant on the existing menu choices which, having tried several, are now very greasy (including the rice) with a lot more being deep fried. Speed of service used to be excellent however full the restaurant was, but now it’s slow with 90% of the servers being unable to understand English and therefore taking orders incorrectly or missing items off. Although the main manager/owner is still there, it seems he hasn’t noticed he now has poorly trained staff and lower grade chefs. We must have eaten here at least once a month over the last couple of years, but sadly we won’t be going back. Just another example of what happens when restaurants let go of what they were good at.

Our first visit was in August 2018 and we were impressed, giving them 5 stars. Our second visit was in late December and we confirm the 5 stars.

We visited Thai Lounge yesterday for a family Christmas get together.

A decent Thai restaurant but nothing special. A fairly atmosphere-less room. Service ok but all a bit formulaic in my opinion. Surprised that it’s scored such good ratings.

Amazing food and fantastic service too. Lovely big restaurant, tables not close together. The duo satay, honey duck, pad Thai and coconut rice were delicious and highly recommended. Good sized portions too. Will certainly return.

Just been for the first time and they had by far the best massaman curry I have had... Even better than I've had in Thailand. The waiter and waitress were also very friendly.

Went with family for a Birthday meal. Staff were nice, the food tasted great and with large portions. Can't wait to go back.

My husband & I had dinner here. We have been before but not for a while. The mains were really disappointing I had the beef in oyster sauce, the beef was over cooked & the dish was seriously salty. My husband had the jungle curry which wasn’t hot chilli wise & the coconut rice only tasted of coconut on the top. Also the table water was warm & we could not believe we were charged £2.20 for half a soda & lime. Very dissapointed!!

food was absolutely outstanding, beautiful decor, clean and modern, but welcoming, wonderful friendly staff, and great access for wheelchairs!

My wife and I went to the Thai Lounge in Ropley for our joint birthday celebration. Time and time again, people had recommended it to us so we thought it was time to try it out. The food and atmosphere were great. A little bit pricier than our local thai, River Kwai, the restaurant offers an extensive array of delicious Thai food. We shared three courses. For the main course we had Red and Green curries. The red one was delicious, but we felt the green one was a little bit on the soupy side, and didn't have any of that characteristic freshness. I would definitely go back, but would probably order differently.

The food here is amazing, really authentic and very tasty. Service is excellent and very traditional Thai, everyone is smiling and happy!

Visited for the second time only on a Monday lunchtime. Very quiet but no problem as the food here is so good. Very nice decor, great service as only Thai people can do and a meal we all enjoyed. Piping hot, great portions and very tasteful.

Whilst the restaurant is a little way out of any major towns it is certainly worth a visit. The layout lends itself to discreet privacy and is not overcrowded. Needless to say the Thai cuisine was equally very good as were the boys and girls serving. Thanks to the team.

Second visit and have to say all in all excellent. A large menu with many enticing things. We feasted on generous amounts of squid, spring rolls, fish cakes satay, corn cakes and tempura of vegetable. Mains were all well spiced with the only negative being the crying beef a little more cooked than the med rare requested. I guess it keeps on cooking on the skillet so next time would ask for blue or rare. Great value and tasting Pinot Blanc from Meyer was a fine match for the food.

We were greeted warmly, and taken to our table. Staff very pleasant and happy to go at our speed. Ordered combined starters which were excellent, and also ordered a dish with 2 x chillies symbol on the menu to denote "medium hot". (1 x chillie = hot, 2 chillies = hotter, 3 x chillies = very hot). I was warned by the staff that two chillies on my dish meant quite hot. They were right and I was not. Ended up being too hot for me, so I felt a bit daft as it spoilt my meal, but it was my own choice.

Past this restaurant a few times and always looked impressive so decided to try for lunch with our friends. What an excellent choice. The restaurant is immaculate, staff polite and friendly which translated into the food which is some of the best Thai I have had in the UK. Good selection and well presented and beautiful flavours.

Don't expect a cheap night out here... The restaurant is extremely well presented, clean and very modern. The welcome is very warm, and the service great. So all in all a good experience.. We've tried many of the dishes and there doesn't appear to be a bad or even mediocre one.. Give it a go, only clear your Credit Card balance ready !!!

Lovely place, first time here and definitely not disappointed. The food was delicious and very generous, friendly staff and not overbearing. Will be back soon! A little more expensive maybe but well worth it. We visited for our anniversary and it was just right.

We ordered a takeaway .. we were told to come to collect in half an hour (albeit warned it might be longer as they were ‘very busy’). We collected as arranged but food was pretty cold and needed warming when we got home (just a couple of miles down the road).

I have been to the Thai several times and it never disappoints. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious and the portion sizes are larger than you get at most restaurants (in my experience) The menu has an excellent selection, there is always something for everyone. Highly recommended

First time ever trying Thai food and I loved it. Everything tasted and looked amazing. Very attentive staff and a great atmosphere. Will be coming back here often.

Customer service, excellent. We, party of four we greeted with a very nice smile and a well spoken waitress. Food exceptional ! Eat there soon before it gets too crowded. Our party plan to return very soon.

This restaurant had been recommended to us and we were not disappointed. The menu has a good selection but not so vast as you do not know where to start! The staff were very attentive, helpful and polite. The Crispy Duck Spring Rolls and Prawns Tempura are recommended starters as are the Prawn Pad Thai and Chicken Sing Chow Mai. This is definitely worth a visit and we will be back soon.

Six of us were here for dinner on the August bank holiday Saturday for a family birthday meal. The restaurant was almost full. Tables reasonably spaced. We all agreed that the food was first class. Service was attentive and prompt from Thai staff. While the decor wasn't particularly 'Thai' the restaurant is well laid out and with an appealing ambience. The photos represent the place well.

My parents took us out here while we were down for a visit. There’s a lot of choice on the menu, all of the Thai classics but immaculate presentation and amazing flavours. I had the Thai fish cake starter which was nice, followed by the beef massaman curry which was delicious if a little oily. The coconut rice was delicious. Service is friendly and efficient and leftovers were nicely packed away for takeout. Every one of us enjoyed the meal. My parents visit often as do my sister-in-law’s family one of whom is Thai, she loves the food and that speaks volumes for me! Would go back.

We were staying near Basingstoke and found this restaurant via tripadvisor. We had to travel 15 miles from our hotel to get there but it was well worthwhile. From the friendly welcome and courteous service through to the delicious food. We had crispy duck spring rolls, tempura vegetables, red curry (but would go for green next time) and beef with oyster sauce. If you are in the area - try it! We loved it

Travelling home from camping in Dorset (also excellent but that's another review) booked a table on the way home. Had heard it was always busy (a good sign) but the place is quieter during the week. Immediately there was a friendly welcome and a welcoming ambience. Table service was swift and efficient and food advice was excellent. we ordered massaman lamb shank, chilli fried chicken and fragrant rice, actually, more than enough for the two of us, but we manfully got through it all!!!

I’ve visited Thai lounge lots of times! The food is really nice and the portion sizes are generous. It is expensive but understandable because there are no other restaurants in the area so they don’t have competition. Still recommend the visit

Fantastic food with a great selection of dishes. Although expensive, well worth the visit. although not particularly appealing from the outside, once inside, lovely dining room and very knowledgeable staff. Seafood dishes a real wow!

We took some friends here last night (26th May) and were pleasantly surprised by the food and the service. We had a great meal! The food was well presented, there was plenty of it and the quality was superb. The service was good too - all the staff were polite and helpful - we will definitely visit again soon.

We had a fantastic meal at this Thai restaurant. All the dishes served tasted amazing, full of flavour and colour you associate with Thai food. Willl definitely be back to sample more dishes, that was the only problem - deciding what to order!

So, I've been to the Thai Lounge now probably half a dozen times, since my first review - with various friends and at various times.

Good food, not exceptional, but good. Excellent service and very friendly staff. Very clean, busy and looks like a nice outdoor area for summer. However, I wish it could be a bit more ‘Thai’ in its decor and ambience instead of a hotel feel.

I have lost count the amount of times I’ve come back to the Thai Lounge, the food and ambiance is always just amazing. Can’t recommend this strong enough. Massive choice of real authentic Thai cuisine!

Food is absolutely delicious the best Thai food I’ve ever had. We tried and tasted a lot of the menu and nothing disappointed, everything full of flavour and portion sizes very generous. Best dishes:Honey Duck, Scallops, Sweet and sour beef, egg noodles, cashew stir fry chicken.

Had a very enjoyable meal with a lot of great flavors. Service was good. We had read that mains were generous and a bit expensive, so we shared a starter and two mains between us, we also shared a rice. With drinks and no sweet things worked out quite acceptable price wise. Wifes quote was "YUM"

Достаточно высокого качества тайская еда. Очень похожа на настоящую. Готовят похоже тайцы наверное в этом и секрет. Место очень популярное особенно в выходные. Тут вобще мало не традиционной еды( если не брать индийскую) .Pad Thai - на уровне. Со специями не перебарщивают . Или указывают степень остроты. Два перца это уже много. Да правда придется смириться с тем что пиво тоже только тайское и почему то еще китайское. Но винная карта не такая плохая.

We went for our Anniversary, my Husband loved it however I wasn't as enamoured. The service was good but was way too speedy between courses which resulted in me not being able to eat much of my main.

We were going out for a friends birthday on a dreaded Monday evening. If anywhere is open around us is a miracle on a Monday - and if it is its bound to be dull and too quiet. Well we were thrilled to walk into The Thai Lounge and the minute you walk in its like a big exhalation of air ! phew and relax. Its calming and charming and sophisticated and beautifully laid out with - horay - lots of people on a Monday evening. We ordered Champagne (well we were celebrating) and wine, 2 sharing platters (one meat and one vegetarian) then shared some main courses (the rice was one portion shared between 4 !). The portions were generous, the food sublime and we have the most wonderful evening. It was lovely to come home having had a flavoursome meal without feeling bloated or heavy. I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND The Thai Lounge

The decor and attention to detail are excellent. Spacious fully air conditioned restaurant area and an outside terrace for summer dining. Extensive menu clearly marked for spiceness and vegetarian choices. The service was good even on a busy evening and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food is not cheap but the portions are generous and of a high quality.

We have been here twice so far. The food is excellent and service is very good. The menu had a lot of choice and variety so there is something for everyone to choose from. The dishes were reasonably priced, portion sizes were big so there was no danger of leaving hungry (unlike some other places). We will definitely be back soon.

My first visit and I will certainly be going back. The waiters were friendly and attentive and food fresh and spicy. Monday night in mid Feb not the best for atmosphere and buzz. Happy to recommend.

Great place for lunch or dinner. Friendly staff and the menu is very good. Atmosphere is pleasant with spacious tables and it is good for big events too. The curries are quite large in portion, so worth considering sharing.

I’ve eaten here three times now and the food has always been excellent. The portion sizes are good so I always end up very full. It’s not the cheapest place to eat but well worth the money.

Really nice food and service. So glad this is only down the road. Having travelled quite a bit in Thailand its nice to eat some great this food that's not a European take in what should be spicey, fragrant and tasty food. Really enjoyed our meal and we will be back in the new year

Visited here with some friends on a Saturday night. Really enjoyable meal. The food was excellent and I could not fault the service. It’s definitely on the expensive side but most Thai’s are. It’s well worth the money though. We will definitely return.

Seven family members enjoyed an evening of excellent, tasty Thai food. The service was pleasant and friendly with no undue delays despite being quite busy. Wine a little overpriced but general good value overall. Seating a little cramped but we had only pre-booked for a party of 6.
