I was disappointed to be honest. Poached eggs on toast had hard yolks and was on thin white bread that was slightly burnt and hard from being so thin. Poor value for money. With a little effort it could be so much better.. Shame! Will not return.

We experienced probably the worst service we have ever come across. Our waitress at table 25 was offhand verging on rude throughout, slammed our meals in the middle of the table, without asking who had ordered what, failed to bring the right cutlery or the milk I had asked for and started to clear the table before we had finished. She then snorted derisively when I couldn’t find the swipe point at the back of the card reader. The overall impression was that this person believed she was doing us a favour by turning up to work.

The Café has really taken a turn for the worse. The older woman, who I believe is the manager, has always been rude and standoffish, but we used to overlook this because of the quality of the food and the friendliness of the other staff. Unfortunately, after today’s experience, I won’t be returning. We ordered two breakfasts and flat whites, and strangely enough, our food arrived before the drinks. When the flat whites did arrive, they were more like cups of milk—completely lacking the coffee-to-milk ratio a flat white should have. The food wasn’t much better; the sausage was overcooked and seemed like it had been sitting out for hours, while the bacon was undercooked. This was especially disappointing since the breakfast is usually excellent. We brought these issues to the attention of a waitress, who was very polite and offered to replace the coffees and assured us they would be taken off the bill. However, when we went to pay, the manager ignored us entirely, standing there without saying a word. Another waitress stepped in to help us, but when I pointed out that the coffees hadn’t been removed from the bill, the manager rudely intervened. First, she claimed we should be paying for four coffees, then changed it to three, and then two. She seemed completely confused and unwilling to address the problem. Instead of showing any understanding, she became rude and aggressive—not just towards me, but even towards the other staff members, who seemed genuinely scared of her. My wife and I were completely shocked by this so-called manager's behavior. There was no apology, no empathy—just rudeness and hostility. It made me wonder if she was responsible for the bad coffees and didn’t want to admit it. This woman has always been unpleasant, and she’s been at the café for a while, but we used to tolerate it. After today, though, I’m done. Looking at recent reviews, it’s clear I’m not the only one who’s had this issue. Two other people have complained about her just in the past week. When will Gibsons take notice?

Birthday breakfast treat spoilt. This establishment needs to learn how to cook bacon and sausage. Six of us had cooked breakfasts and each of us experienced over cooked bacon and sausage which seemed to have been cooked, stood, reheated, hard and almost uncuttable. One breakfast was missing some of the bacon that the menu stated. On asking the waitress, she shot a rude look / comment with incredulity……like we even dared to mention it. She challenged us then agreed to go and check. Surely she would know the contents of the menu. She brought said bacon on a saucer, put it down without so much of an acknowledgment, never mind a ‘sorry’. Rude. A visit to the counter to pay the bill and same unpleasant waitress, with limited people skills, requested £77 without so much as a ‘how was your meal’? Perhaps she knows the food and service (her own) are substandard. A firm press on the paying machine of ‘no tip’ from me. I would have given verbal feedback has it been sought, however, I have no option but to share on trip advisor. Personally, I’d rather have given it to them face to face but it wasn’t asked for. So my tips - don’t let the bacon and sausage stand so that it’s tasteless, hard, cool. Give your waitress (the lady with foreign accent) some training in hospitality. What a shame, this place used to be pretty good. I won’t be back.

Pretty poor, club sandwich average & just thrown together, hardly a handful of crisps, customer service awful, lots of young staff not knowing what they were doing had to ask countless times for our drinks order, main person in charge not the greatest customer service, sign said wait to be seated, if we hadn’t had gone up to someone we would have been ignored. Put of going back I’m afraid, much better places out there!

I have used the cafe previously and always been pleased with food and drinks. I ordered a pot of tea for one at £2.75, thinking I'll probably get a cup and a half. The cup itself was larger than the tiny teapot. I asked the waitress if I could get a refill and was told , not another teabag but a top up of hot water, which I said was fine. Then no sign of the top up. Disappointing

The most bang average bacon sandwich I've eaten (hungover DIY attempts have been better) and my partners toast was burnt to oblivion. The food was overpriced for what it was and the service was slow. 2 out of 5. When for breakfast this morning with my partner Waitress was rude/abbrupt. Hazelnut latte was nice. I had a sausage and egg roll, the sausage was precooked and sat on the counter which we could see when we were queuing to pay and then zapped to hell in the microwave I don’t know how you can have an over cooked sausage and it be that greasy. As they are a farm shop I would have thought they would take more care with their own produce. Partner had the turbo full English, which was not worth the price as it wasn’t much bigger than a normal full english, his Sausage and bacon was cooked the same as my sausage. We didn’t complain because the staff looked abit miserable apart from the young lad which asked me how everything was and I didn’t really have the heart at the time to say anything negative to him as he wasn’t miserable or the person who served us so I felt it wasn’t fair so I just said I don’t like to complain so I will say yes even though you could clearly see I took a bite of the sausage and left the rest on the plate. We used to come here a lot but we will no longer waste our money.

My husband and I frequent this cafe often, but after the last couple of visits we are having second thoughts on returning. For the last 2 times we have been in, the male waiter/barista has the most unwelcome attitude ever, he rather be chatting with the chefs than doing a proactive job, which in my experience, since I worked my way up from waiter to manager, is not rocket science, just need to have a bit of input. This guy is always dragging his feet and does little to nothing which has been noticed in more than the last 2 visits we had, and today just took the cake. The sign by the entrance had a 30 minute wait for food, with only 3 tables sat at the time, we got pointed to the lovely conservatory but all the vacant tables were dirty. We sat in front of the counter and after 10 minutes (I clocked in the time when we arrived and departed) no one came to even offer us a drink, while another lady was pacing around. We used to love coming here and I am not entirely sure I would like to come back to that kind of service, which now we know is not an isolated incident, for the looks another people have decided to speak out and I really hope this gets sorted soon or we would take our custom somewhere else.

I ordered the club sandwhich which sat on the hot plate for a good 15 minutes so when it came out the lettuce was wiltered and the crisps were hot. The man working out front was dragging his feet and just had no customer service this was on the 21.04.24 the chef kept ringing the bell to take the food which the male waitress ignored and continued to serve more people at this point the hotplate was completely full. He made it very clear he would of rather of been anywhere but there. I don't think age is an excuse as I worked in many cafes when I was younger and would of not behaved with such a bad attitude. These days going out for food is a treat and the customer service and food was extremely poor. If we do return we will will go the to the bakery.

I had an impromptu visit yesterday (23/03/24) to this lovely cafe with some good friends. We arrived around 14:30. We were seated in the conservatory area, which was light + bright, looking out onto a small orchard area. A clear menu presented to each of us. Lots of nice meals available with a Pie of the day, and a Soup of the day. The cafe uses locally sourced produce… some of which can be purchased onsite in the Farm Shop. Our friends had visited before and recommended the cakes, which are huge slices - they’d had the Chocolate cake recently, which was moist and light. However we chose to have a main meal each. We didn’t have room for cake on this occasion. Service was really good, all meals arrived together, piping hot + nicely presented. There is a smaller more intimate area as well as benches outside for warmer weather too. Will certainly be making a return visit soon.

This was a very bad visit for breakfast. After 40 minutes of waiting we asked the young waitress if our order would be arriving soon, she went and checked but did not come back. We asked another lady who then returned with our breakfast. Two of us had the pancakes with bacon, the other had a cream tea. The pancakes and bacon were cold and the scone was hot! The scone had turned into a rock cake and was inedible. We spoke to the second lady again who apologised and agreed that the food was totally unacceptable. We did not want it replaced, this was not offered anyway, and we had been waiting for almost an hour by this time. When I went to pay for our drinks I was told that the drinks had been deducted from the bill and I only had to pay for the food. I was so shocked. I refused to pay for the food, having to explain to two different people why. I was only prepared to pay for the drinks and was made to feel so guilty and uncomfortable for that. It was very upsetting to have to argue my point whilst standing at a till with people all around me. We will not be returning.

Before the lockdown we used to visit regularly the staff in the cafe were lovely and friendly and the food was good. After the lockdown we tried them again and they were sadly lacking so stopped going at Christmas we were with family who said they'd been for breakfast in December and recommend we try again. It was my husbands birthday so we thought we'd give it another go and met up with friends and had breakfast we must say it was delicious my scrambled egg and salmon was cooked to perfection and the men had full English again really good. I think the only thing that was lacking is friendlier staff it doesn't cost much to smile and make people feel welcomed.

After a while off of trip adviser today I have been given reason to come back by Gibsons Farm Shop Cafe... it is terrible! We arrived at about 1215 today... a table of 4 adults and 2 children, both approaching 1. We popped in to feed the little ones and grab a quick snack. The cafe was about 60% full. Noone acknowledged our existence when we entered so we found ourselves a table in the conservatory near the back (what a mistake). No menus on the table so had to go and ask and was given a sheet of paper containing details of no hot food, only premade snacks and drinks. When asked if there was any hot food we were told they could warm up (microwave) what we ordered. All food was already made and on display at the check out. Great zero prep time on orders, service would be quick I thought. Wrong. Each table was numbered so we attempted to order at the check out... we were told table service only. After another 15 minutes passed and having seen 3 other tables have their order taken, all of whom arrived after us we gave up and left, 25 minutes later, without as much as a hello on a day when it was not really busy, there was plenty of staff and no hot food was being served. We were the second table to leave due to lack of service. I was even put off going to the shop, which sells very nice produce.I recall a time when the breakfast here was amongst the best around here. Gibsons cafe is now in an area where they are not the only place around. In future I will be going to Mama Feelgoods, Tadpole Tearooms or especially The Independent Pedlar

Me and my other half came here for our valentines day meal, and it was lovely! Chilli jam was too die for, and the chips were all crispy!! And the beef itself was really tasty!! My other half had a double stack burger (I am sorry I cannot remember the name) but I other half sang praises of his meal too. We also brought sausages from the farm shop, and we are very excited to try them!! They have a delicious looking array of cakes (vegan ones too) Something for everyone We will defo be back Gibsons, thank you!

I went here with my family the day after Boxing Day and was looking forward to a nice breakfast. The waiting staff were very friendly but the food took a long while to arrive once we’d ordered, granted it was busy but the wait seemed excessive.I ordered the vegetarian breakfast and on arrival I could tell that the poached eggs were well over done and like rubber, the granary toast was in fact white toast and the tomatoes had barely been warmed through and were quite bitter. We were sat very close to the pass, and all through our meal the man working there could be heard swearing at staff in the kitchen, even dropping the ‘C bomb’ once.I won’t be hurrying back there.

Under staffed and staff lacking experience. Slow service and grubby conservatory area, the actual farm shop is quite nice but wouldnt recommend for a lunch visit. Basic menu.

The quality of produce & service is generally of a good standard hence why it was a natural choice for Christmas Eve breakfast. With 14 members of family traveling from across the county to spend time together before the big day it seemed a natural choice. We checked in September if we needed to book & was to told categorically that we couldn't & that it was first come, first served from 09:00. When we arrived at 08:50 we were bemused that the cafe was full & the empty tables were "reserved".The lady running the cafe was very nice & had obviously been placed in an awkward position having to turn folk away as management had decided to make private reservations after all.So there we were sat in the car park attempting to find somewhere else to go.You lost custom in the cafe & further from the produce in store & top up gifts. There are other vendors available in the area & I'd suggest that you consider these, as it is clear that Gibson's do not value repeat business or brand loyalty!!

We come here often as we live close by. The food here is great but unfortunately the service does not function well at all. When the cafe gets busy the drinks always come after the food (often after you’ve finished eating). Management needs to organise the staff better to ensure there are sufficient waitresses working at busy periods. The staff are very young and there needs to be someone managing the service side of things.

Loved Gibsons. Great shop with products straight from the farm. All fresh and regional. Worth a visit. The hardest part is to try to not buy the entire shop. Look at their own brand of chutneys and sauces. Yum!

We’ve been coming here for years, when it used to be a small cafe. The whole building including the cafe has got a lot larger and I am afraid that quality has got worse. Food used to be very high quality, cooked very well. Now it seems little care goes into it but prices are still high.

I have been here a few times recently taking my guests. The food has always been very good although depending on time of day there may be quite a wait (25 minutes last time we went last week, 11am).

Over an hour for two bowls of soup! We were intending to follow it with cake and coffee but gave up waiting. Only to find the staff standing around in the kitchen while people sat waiting to order. Never again.

Have been before and had excellent service and food. Today - not so good. One member of staff was asked for information re the menu and never returned after saying she was going to find out the answer. Tap water for the table took 25 minutes to arrive and then only one glass made it to the table. My cheese and chutney sandwich arrived with out cheese and then when it was replaced I think the cheese was hiding somewhere as there was so little of it! As well as this the staff attitude when I was paying was dismal. No please or thank you, no asking if everything was ok. It was very much give us your money and bye. I won’t be back for a long time.

We’re regular customers at Gibson’s, the farm shop is lovely & the café is lovely. It’s light & airy with great service & quality of food. Breakfasts are amazing, however a shame they’re not served all day, as are the scones cakes & coffees. The service however is quite poor. Older lady is miserable & is incapable of clearing tables (always walks past empty handed). We were not given cutlery with our food, instead we had used cutlery on the side of the table, we were given the wrong panini which was changed & lots of uncleared tables. Understaffed - yes but also training must take place on how to serve at a cafe. Staff are holding the place back & this is from a regular customer, so please, take the advice.

The service took forever and the staff is all over the place. The older lady serving needs to stay away from people as her manner is rude and offensive. The lunch took 45 min to arrive and they even got my order wrong. It could be so good! However, they need to invest in staff that deliver fabulous customer service. Not going again!

Have visited Gibson twice in the last month or so, arriving mid morning. On both occasions its quite clear that some of the food has been sat around for quite a while and is a little tough, the bacon etc. The hungry farmer breakfast is not what it was. On our last visit, all i could hear whilst eating was a chef complaining about a complaint from another customer... So much so, I was deterred from pointing out the tough bacon and burnt toast we were served. Not the most relaxing atmosphere on that occasion.

We visited Gibson’s today for the first time in ages. The eating area is expanded but the good news ends there. The kitchen clearly cannot cope with the increased covers. After being given menus after about 15 minutes the waitress informed us that the chef couldn’t cope and it could be at least half an hour before any more orders were taken. We left and won’t be returning.

Obvious that the small kitchen cannot keep up with the demands of the restaurant. Terribly disappointed as we had to leave after being told service had stopped this morning due to the kitchen being so behind.

I recently visited this establishment for breakfast and we sat and waited for around 15 minutes. After that we were told that the kitchen would no longer be taking any more orders as they were so far behind on their tickets. They clearly can’t cope with the extended restaurant with the tiny kitchen. I was very disappointed and won’t be returning.

Lovely farm shop in a beautiful area. Cafe food is great, can recommend eating there. Daughter's comment 'best burger I have ever had'. Have a good range of products in the shop, never been disappointed with their fresh produce, from meat, cheese, pastries and vegetables along with all the other items they have. Brought a bag of food to feed the sheep, what a great thing to offer, we had a lovely time feeding the sheep, they made as laugh with their behavior, they are very gentle, would recommend sheep feeding, eating in cafe and having a look/buying from the shop. Staff friendly, will be going back.

Gibsons has been very good in the past, but has gone downhill in recent months. Service is slo, the food and coffees not good enough and the current Chef has got an attitude problem. He is very rude and I won't go back. There are plenty of betters places out there.

We have been to Gibsons a few times over the years and it's never been that good but we thought we would give it one more go how we wish we hadn't,arrived to find a vacant table waitress came over to take our drinks order but 2 of the drinks came out wrong although this was rectified straight away, ordered our food waited about 20 minutes which was fine but when it arrived quite frankly I wish it hadn't it was shocking the sausages were hard and had no taste at all,the bacon was burnt, the scrambled egg was like rubber, hash browns were soggy and the toast was burnt and cold,we informed the waitress who went and spoke to the chef who basically said what do they want me to do about it,how about cook and serve us an edible breakfast that would be a good start wouldn't it?we left our food paid the bill and went somewhere else.

We have been visiting Gibson's for years, even when it was a shed. We loved going there but for the last two or three times it's been disappointing. Today was the last straw. After being seated a waitress came over and kindly offered to get drinks while we looked at the menu, another girl came with our drinks and we said what we wanted. Oh no they have stopped service food/breakfast now. Hang on we would have ordered When we ordered drinks if we had known. Sorry nothing we can do. We said but it's only a few minutes and if we knew we wouldn't have ordered drinks. The waitress went spoke to chef who shouted he could do bacon rolls. But so aggressively we chose to refuse. The waitress did say she'd take our drinks away but both thirsty and needing to decide what to do, we declined, but the latte was very very weak and the tea even in the pot very weak too.

Unfortunately, this was my second time here to give it the benefit of the doubt, as on my first visit I had to complain. I had a breakfast which was greasy, but edible. I wouldn't order again. My friend had the veg breakfast, and the burger was very dry. Desert was okay, except my friend had the apple pie with ice cream. It wasn't mentioned when ordering that the ice cream was extra cost. Cherry pancake was the best out of the bunch.
