Flippers Fish Bar in Shepway

These were the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. The batter is just perfect as we’re the chips. The fish is amazing and so fresh, I think it’s a Dad and Daughter, lovely lovely people, so polite and genuine. I’ve been a few times and the standard of their food is outstanding. (Dad likes change, but not 5 pence pieces) 🤣

A nice haddock and chips for a good price. A short drive from New Beach holiday park. Easy parking. Fish very good, chips a little bit dry, but OK. Would go again.

Popped into flippers for a simple fish supper the cod was cooked to order staff where friendly and very chatty, I will fully recommend flippers, and will definitely be visiting again

This Fish and Chip shop is THE BEST I've had in many years. It's run by people who really care about their produce and most of all their customers. Yes there is a wait BUT at least you know the food is fresh and of the highest quality. In my opinion, this traditional outlet is worthy of a visit and your support. You won't be disappointed. Some recent Chinese take-away meals have left us wondering exactly what we have been eating. Here there is no doubt--two fish and chip suppers properly cooked and my haddock with an unmistakable taste and texture exactly as it should be. We know that chippies have been struggling with rising prices and it's no longer a cheap option but the difference between this and a supermarket "deal"is immense and we owe these guys a living. I am sure the other two Hythe places are also good but this is our local and is as good as it gets.

We were just passing when a sign said 'Fish and Chips', pulled in, parked up outside. Went inside....ordered Cod/Chips twice. Very friendly chap behind counter.....it felt right! Freshly fried, 10mins later got the goods. Back to car opened the box....well, it was good from the start......no, it was better than just good, it was very good. The fish was cooked to perfection....the chips just right.....not too dry not too greasy......one of the best F/C I've had in a while. The price......well let's just say it was very reasonable! If you're in the area.....or just passing, I would have no hesitation of recommending FLIPPERS......jMartello Drive just off Dymchurch Road....Dymchurch.👍👍👍👍

We were passing through as we often do and noticed the sign saying fish & chips we both had chicken mushroom pie & chips it was freshly cooked and hot and very tasty the best chips we had in a while proper old school how it should taste will definitely revisit when we are out that way again

Visited Flippers for the first time yesterday and it won't be the last, perfectly cooked, tasty, fresh, lovely bit of Haddock.

Fancied a takeaway and this restaurant was only a few minutes drive from the caravan park, the food was cooked to order but did not take long really enjoyed the only fault was it w as very expensive 3 cod and chips 1 rock and chips 2 battered sausages and 1 chips £46.00

Very courteous and friendly. Really nice chips but the Cod was a real disappointment. I’d go far as to say it wasn’t cod. We had four servings. One definitely was cod, really not sure about the rest. Very thin and dark looking with no taste. First takeaway since March and was really looking forward to it. Not good value for what we had.

Honestly cannot get over how polite you are and how good your food tastes for such a great price, best chippy in hythe I love your food! The only chip shop where I feel welcome and not weirded out by strange men from other places.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Haddock chips and curry sauce! Having tried all the other chippers in town, this is by far the best! Also the owner looks alot like Morrissey! We wont get our Fish and chips anywhere else.

Living locally, we use regularly. Fish is of a consistent high quality and very fresh. Nice crispy batter. Chips sometimes a bit too limp. Reasonable prices. Friendly service.

When you come away for the Easter weekend looking forward to Fish n Chips all week and you stumble across this little gem.on a bike ride. I would highly recommend you take a trip to sample their delicious, freshly cooked to order fish and chips. I have never tasted fish n chips like this before, crispy batter, haddock was juicy and the chips were cooked to perfection.

Being new to the area coming from Yorkshire I wasn’t expecting to find decent fish and chips as southerners struggle to do it properly however this guy manages to do it very well despite being handicapped by being cockney!Been in several times in the three weeks I’ve been here that’s praise enoughThe owner doesn’t suffer fools gladly and his responses on here are hilarious he is actually a very friendly bloke as long as you can accept a sense of humour which it seems some people on here can’t!Keep up the good work!

Very good food, The food is cooked to order and well prepared. So a short time wait is required to wait, but well worth it

I visited Flippers on 11/08/18 and was appalled by the standard of service, the guy behind the counter was wearing what i can only describe as builders clothing,his t shirt looked as though he had been on a building site all day,it was completely filthy and totally unsuitable for wearing while serving foodthe wait for a simple bag of chips was around 20 mins, i wish i had not bothered as they were absolutely awful, given the state of the staff member and the long wait i would never return and will drive the small extra distance and go to Pappas which is a proper chippy.

Rubbish abusive scrapings from the bottom of the fryer soggy chips tiny bits when challenged became abusive swearing and wishing I’ll health and death... not joke over a portion of chips really this man needs to grow up ..

The chips look like the oil needs changing but they are absolutely lovely as well as the fish. I had my dog in the car during on of my visits and was asked where I was parked because they would bring the food out to me when it was done! Now hows that for service. The owners are very nice to chat with whilst you are waiting as it is all cooked to order rather than sitting in the hot plate and getting cold and soggy. I cant rate them highly enough.

Have stopped here on a few occasions now, today with a work colleague, and I will say that these chips are the best I have every tasted. Crispy, non-fatty and perfectly cooked. Prices are all extremely reasonable too, will be visiting again very soon.

Myself and my partner fancied a fish and chip dinner and so we visited Flippers Fish Bar on Friday evening and weren't let down. Friendly staff and tasty chips. The fish was delicious too, we will be going back again for certain!

Such a shame you get so rude and defensive , but than again its human nature to react that way when they know there in the wrong. But sometimes it's best to standup to mistakes and eat humble pie Like you expected me to eat mouldy chips

As a "fully paid member of the whinging brigade" (commentary received from proprietor) I would seek other eateries offering better value and undoubtedly a more professional approach to custom. It seems even with a higher propensity of negative comments, that the owner fails to recognise his standards are slipping. Stop spending time thinking up ways in which to defend shoddy workmanship,offend customers who give constructive feedback and point out spelling errors. Stop being bitter and concentrate on your batter!

Nothing spectacular, fish and chips and sausage and chips. All about right, batter was a bit heavy for my liking and chips really need to be bigger as had lots of small hard ones. Been hear for many years but they are slowly becoming a rarity for our take out choice.

I have been going to Flippers Fish Bar for about 18 months now on a regular basis. Dave & his wife Claire are a lovely couple and have always been greeted in the shop by a wonderful smile. The establishment is spotlessly clean and has recently been awarded the top star rating for selling food. The portions of fish n chips are excellent and very generous they are too. The food is cooked to perfection and have never been disappointed. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to Flippers Fish Bar I can assure you won't be disappointed. I always let Dave know in advance what I would like and it is always ready for me when I walk in the shop, now where would you get service like that these days. Not many places I know. I cannot understand anyone giving out a negative review. I would give a higher rating to the shop if it were possible. So please go visit Dave you will get some fab fish n chips guaranteed. xx

Me and my girlfriend decided to give this place a try and it was brilliant, the cod was chunkier than other places in hythe.

Lovely friendly place, always a warm welcome, a lot of banter if it is not too busy. I have always found the food cooked to perfection and really tasty. Dave and Clare go out of their way to help and please their customers

My family and I have always used Flippers and won't go anywhere else. What are you lot moaning about below?!?!!! Nothing better to do clearly. Portions are big I think, not greasy and fish is so succulent and delicious. Dave, the owner, is super friendly and always welcoming. You'd be mad to go anywhere else. I went to Flippers on a Saturday evening with my wife and we were very happy with the service, greeted by a smiley lady who was very polite. I ordered two medium fish and chips and was over the moon with the food, portion sizes were great and the fish was so fresh and beautifully cooked and chips were delicious! You definitely get great grub for a small price, would highly recommend!

The only items on view were saveloys. We decided upon large fish and chips. The fish were indeed large, but too oily for me. The portion sizes were good for the money/

on Friday evening we decided to have fish and chips for tea, as we hadn't treated ourselves in a while, we were served by a woman dressed all in black... She didn't seem too bothered when taking our order of a LARGE cod and chips, we waited 15 - 20 minutes, which you don't mind if you receive the order you have paid for... When we finally got handed our order that "miss black" dished up, we were very disappointed when we saw that the LARGE cod was only MEDIUM, and the chips had been over salted, needless to say don't think we'll be returning to flippers when we finally get fish and chips again for tea!!!

Do you ever get that feeling that the person serving you is evil and mean she's out to piss u off by purposely over salting your chips,that's what treatment you'll get if you visit this place at night. Also she's mean and will give you a small piece of fish when u ordered a large, why put it in the large box? Yeah I'll be sick from to much salt but not by over eating!

My family and myself were visiting relatives in Hythe and we thought we would give this chippy a go, all of us were very pleased that we did. Friendly atmosphere with quality food at a good price, you can't argue with that. Will definitely be going again on our next trip to Hythe!

small portions,chips cooked but soggy,wouldnt make it a regular stop there is better in Hythe especially in stade street

Portion sizes ok on both fish and chips. Nice crisp batter - it looks as if all fish is cooked to order and the chips were fresh as well. As we live not too far away we will use again, not quite the cheapest or the best fish and chips in the area, but they are up against one of the best on the south coast and would be tops elsewhere.

today we used this chip shop in search of a decent chip shop within the hythe and new romney area and we only bought 3 savaloys and what was supposed to be a large chips.This order was for my hungry kids, the savaloys were the cheapest catering one you can get and the supposed large chips were no bigger than you smallest of avarge portion of chips. and to my shock waqs thrown in a polystyrene box and come to a shocking £6.20.The chips were ok but the savaloys were yuck and mushy.sorry flippers we will not be using you again and cannot recommend.
