Ordered a take out from here tonight. First time. Food was fresh and good quality but unfortunately it was rather cold. Another order was picked up along the way which delayed things slightly. The extra 10 mins caused the food to go cold sadly. I would use them again but would hope for hotter food next time.

Disgusting company as a complete company...scammed me from food and money... Staff wasn't interested in a solution to my issues.. Would seriously recommend staying away from this restaurant there only interested in money and not customers.... I tried to speak to staff but wasn't interested in my issues just fobbed me off elsewhere...

Oh dear! It was a busy Friday, but it was very poor Chips were only just cooked, half portions (at best) Order large cod and medium haddock, both the same size and taste? (something not quite right there). I've used them in the past and generally ok, was it last night or just not keeping the standards up? At nearly £50 (2 adults and 2 kids) very, very disappointing!

Quiet tues night. Staff stood around eating. Ordered Cod and Chips and Fishcake and chips and mushy peas. Opened the cod when I got home, the "batter" was soggy and was stuck to the paper, chops were luke warm. The fishcake looked and tasted like it had been sat in the warmer for ages (which I suspect it probably had!). The coating on the fishcake was chewy not crispy. We thought we would give it another try after giving up on it a few months ago because of the quality. Small cod and chips £10...wow! I know prices have gone up all over the world but that is ridiculous for the quality FnC are producing. You really need to look into the quality of your food. It eas so quiet surely the could have cooked most things to order rather than cook it and leave it in the warmer for ages? Won't be back.

Having recently moved here I have only just discovered this fish and chip shop. They sell a wide range of take aways apart from the usual fish and chips - chicken, burgers and pies are also available. They also have special deals. The food is is good with generous portions.

First time using fishnchickn at Brighton Hill Basingstoke. Everything was cooked to perfection and some of the nicest fish and chips we have had in a long while. We would definitely recommend and will be back!

Very slow delivery. Paid extra for large chips with royal chicken burger and they looked no where near a large. Paid £4.50 for mozzarella stick and only got 4. Not worth the time or money nether again

Don't use just eat to order from here. We placed an order for delivery at 730 pm, its now 2040 and still no delivery! Spoke to the store manager and they confirmed collection and that we needed to get hold of just eat. Absolutely useless.

Infuriating to get home for the second time to find half the order missing!!!! Once is a mistake, twice is incompetence. Living a few miles away also means eating about an hour later than planned after driving home through traffic and having to go back again to get the order re-cooked, then driving across town home again for the second time.

If the staff were as passionate about customer service as they were about their make up I'd rate good. Unfortunately, the staff let your takeaway down. I have been going there for a long time and have not reviewed before but recently the standards have dropped and tonight was awful. I will not be visiting any time soon. The food was luke warm and the staff were not at all helpful. There seemed to be a lot of them doing nothing. I have to give a score so it will be a 1. To top it off the food was luke warm. I have sent an email.

Had to have regular cod & chips as they didn’t know what their previous Silver Surfer deal was. Chips fine by fish off colour and very dry inside. Used to be good when it first opened but staff moved on I guess….

They take your money first, price has gone up about 30%, and the portions have reduced, 1 scoop and they dont look good either....rip off avoid if you can

I ordered a click and collect on a Friday evening. I requested 2 regular cod and chips and 1 large cod and chips. Got home, unpacked the food and discovered I was short of a regular cod portion. Not happy. Compared to our local chippy in Somerset, the prices are much higher and the portions much smaller.

Ordered a timed delivery for 19:30 yesterday evening. Arrived 20:35 stone cold. I called twice to see where my food was to be told "it's manic and my driver is out on other deliveries". No proactive update from the manager, just this poor excuse. Why take my order if you can't meet it? Why take others that delay accepted orders? How is it stone cold when just over a mile from my house? Unfortunately first and last time I use this as it's ended up in the bin as completely cold (not even slightly warm) and inedible.

Worst fish and chips I have had in ages don’t bother going as very expensive and very small with hardly any fish. It used to be very good when it first opened but quality and quantity has gone downhill.

Properly the worst fish and chips ever, small portions, rock hard chips and staff that made you feel like your bothering them, I would put pictures up but threw the lot in the bin, this used to be a great chippy but has gone down hill quicker than skateboard, to say I am disappointed is an understatement, FISH AND CHICKEN CLOSE YOUR DOORS FOR GOOD

After coming on a Tuesday for Gluten Free meal, my boyfriend who is gluten intolerant has been left I’ll ever since. We are sure that the food hadn’t been prepared properly or we were accidentally served gluten-containing food

Sadly I was quite unwell after eating here so could have been dodgy oil or just my stomach not being used to fried food. Didn't really enjoy the chips they were very pale and very soggy. I'd recommend the chippy in Winklebury instead.

Got to be the worst chippy I have ever been to.

When fishnchickn first opened and for a good few months afterwards they were excellent. The last couple of times we have been there they have been incredibly stingy with the chips! At least half of the original portion size. Tonight 2 other orders were serviced before ours as the staff “forgot” my specially cooked item. We shall not be returning there unless service and portion size improves. Reading other reviews leads me to believe we are not alone here

I have been on a gluten free diet for 10+ years, this is the best gluten free fish and chips I have had. Accredited by the coeliac society too. Big portions and reasonably priced. I will be back.

Tiny piece of cod, dry chips and overpriced. Staff a bit rude. I wouldn’t recommend this chip shop. Been good maybe a year ago but now it’s going down hill.

Decided to grab a quick lunch after travelling. Bought the Senior fish and chips that we've had in the past and were pleased with. Sadly we were very disappointed. We only had a 5 min drive home but the food was cold. The portion of fish had to be a child's portion. I've had more fish in a couple of fish fingers! The batter was very thick and soggy,the few chips tasteless. Definitely will not be returning!

Visited this evening at 9.20pm, 40 minutes before "closing time", to be told there were no chips and the only food available was what was already cooked and being kept warm in the counter. Very disappointed as the food (when they have it) is usually quite good. Needless to say, I didn't bother buying anything.

Good place for a lunch time meal, staff friendly and cheerfull, average pricing, chips arrived fresh and piping hot, good taste would recommend to all. Not my usual place but was in the area for business and saw it tucked away, Glad I stopped.

We have been a handful of times as this is the nearest to us, we have not been elsewhere as yet as we have no need too as each time we visit the staff are friendly, and the service is fantastic, food is very fresh and always cooked well, fish and chips portions are always of a good amount, the fish is really great, the cod row is amazing from here always given a large portion and again tastes fantastic, pricing is very good as well, service is quick seeing that they make your order fresh I would highly recommend, their shop is right next to Asda in the little row of shops, their is ample parking too..

We’ve been to Fish n Chicken a few times & almost always had a very positive experience. Batter is light & crisp..food is hot & usually very fresh. Southern fried chicken is very good & much better than KFC, fish is very good with generous sizing.

As a former employee of trawlerman fish and chip shop in Chineham and a loyal customer at Oliver’s in old Basing I fully understand the importance of standards when it comes to the quality of a top rated fish and chip shop.

Ordered fish and chips with mushy peas. Fish comes with skin on and was greasy unlike other shops I have been too and hard to eat. Much prefer skinless, boneless fish cooked fresh to order.

We have two gluten free children in our family, so Monday is a day of celebration as we sometimes allow them fish and chips on this day. The food is always cooked fresh and the Gf options are wrapped and labelled separately to avoid Cc. Chips could do with being cooked for a little bit longer, but overall we are always happy with the food we buy here.

Nice friendly staff, good gluten free options on Monday and Tuesday Nights. They do forget to put the Gluten Free choices on display though. However they do go to great lengths to ensure the gluten free option is kept safe. I heartily recommend them.

Not a lot to ask, a basic portion of chips. A lot of the chips had black marks on them. Some of the chips seem to have skin on them. Will not go back. I suggest you ask to look at your order before they wrap it up.

I went there last Saturday and as always the food was very nice and the staff very friendly. I have tried both the fish and the chicken and they are always tasty and fresh.

This is our regular choice for chips in the West of Basingstoke, the service and prices are good. I haven't tried the fish but it's always popular when I visit. They also have gluten free days and food can be cooked to order.

Every Monday or Tuesday we head to the FishnChicken. Always a warm welcome. We love the gluten free options and they are very tasty! Best fish and chip shop we've been too!

Again we went yesterday to FishNChicken with my family and again we received great customer service and top quality food. Yesterday wasn’t so busy and the food was freshly cooked to order. Now this is my regular fish shop. The management always happy to help if we asked about the food and great knowledge about the products because I’m very curious and i wanted know more about the cod what they selling. I can recommend this takeaway to everyone and I don’t know what people expecting to pay for fish and chips the prices is good for the quality of the food.

Conseguimos el pescado y patatas fritas aquí el año pasado. No es un comida que comer muy a menudo, pero este lugar es insuperable. Excelente caliente bien pescado paquetes y patatas fritas. No me puedo quejar de ellos.

Whilst doing my shopping I noticed a sign in the window saying gluten-free all day Mondays and Tuesdays. As it's been some time since I've been able to eat fish and chips, I ordered this; it was all cooked separately, and was delicious. I will definitely be back!

Excellent value well-cooked takeaway food served with great courtesy, friendliness and - if needed - helpfulness. Especially recommended are the cod and chips and BBQ chicken.

The best fish and chips for miles around and a very varied menu. Staff are very pleasant. Food consistently good. Sometimes a queue which shows how good they are' it's take-away only but three is room for wheelchairs if necessary to access.

This is one of my favourite chip shops in Basingstoke, they usually offer onion vinegar which is normally only found in London chippys a real nostalgic, welcomed memory

Visited for the first time recently as they do gluten free fish and chips on Monday/Tuesdays. We had 1 GF and 1 normal. The GF fish was over cooked and a little dry, though the batter tasted good. The chips were a bit odd as they were cooked inside but very pale and hard on the outside, not crispy, just hard. Not sure how they managed that. I reheated some in the oven the next day with some olive oil and they were much better. Portion size was fine for me.The normal fish and chips I didn't taste, but it was deemed they were not as good as the ones in Oakridge or Winklebury and portion size smaller.I would try them again but mainly because they are the only local fish and chip shop I know that does a gluten free option.

On the morning of a large family party I placed an order for 24 meals. Suri (hope I have spelled his name correctly) couldn't have been more helpful. He patiently let me rattle off the various orders - providing advice on portions, etc. I turned up later with help to carry the large order but it wasn't needed. Suri carried out the large box to my car - containers of salt, vinegar and curry sauce had been added to the order to complete the perfect family supper. Good food, amazing customer service and all at a reasonable cost. I would definitely recommend this take away and will be using them again !!

Used to be almost as good as Oliver's but on the last few visits the quality of fish and chips has deteriorated markedly. Dry fish with lots of bones, soggy batter and soggy, under cooked chips. Will ditch them now in favour of Oliver's.

I have been given my custom to Fish N Chicken for a long time. The fish and chips are what I think is the best in the area and has always been until now very good potions. The BUT is they have now introduced boxes instead of wrapping in paper!! and now the portions of chips is a lot smaller! I bought large chips this time as the normal chips is now not enough .The large potion is the same size !! The large potion used to be much to much for me.It is very disappointing. I have given 2 stars for great fish and chips that are to smaller potions that is Not good value or worth your money.

Had cod and chips for lunch today and it was lovely. Cooked while I Waited so really hot. Recently returned from a trip to Seaton, the cod and chips down there was not a patch on fish and chips at Brighton hill.

Found this by mistake few months ago and so pleased. Quality of food is great,, prices good, staff friendly. You can get seperate kids meals. Curry sauce is fab and best bit is the parking outside is free and plenty of of it!

Had a charity evening in Basingstoke and ordered 100 portions of fish and chips for 8pm they were delivered on time very hot and in a hot box with knife fork salt vinigar all 100 guests praised the quality Of the meal well done if you are looking for a superb takeout I would highly recomend

Have been 4/5 times in last 18 months. Always good chips with little waste and fish cooked the best I've had locally. Service quick, clean shop, prices ok - not as cheap as some others maybe, certainly not expensive, but I'd rather pay for something I actually enjoy looking forward too and eating, which is something I'd given up on with other local chippies. As somebody else commented 'would be nice if staff smiled more' but nonetheless as another reviewer said 'at last a decent chippy in Basingstoke'

Have popped in here a few times for some food when i can't be bothered to cook. The service is fast and the price is low. The food itself is tasty and portion size decent. Exactly what i would expect from a good fish/chicken and chips place. Well worth a visit if you're looking for some easy food at a reasonable price.

Have been here a few times, and honestly not impressed! The staff are not polite at all, attended and the staff were messing around behind the food station regardless of it being obvious they were short on food being ready. Everything is dripping with grease and prices are really high for less than average food. I will avoid unless I'm pretty much starving

I find the fish far too expensive, and tend to run out of standard size and have to have large at no price reduction.

Often use last minute when we' having nothing planned for dinner. I usually have chicken and chips. Would recommend and good prices.

Excellent fish n chips and their chicken is excellent too. Staff friendly and professional too. They also do burgers which I haven't tried.

Excellent fish and chips and the lunch time offer gives excellent value for money. This is a take away only place (I wish they did sit in). Far superior in every respect to Olivers in my opinion.

After years of indifferent food at Olivers I bit the bullet and went to fishnchickn in Brighton Hill. The food is always very good, perfectly cooked chips, perfect fish and the best sausage in batter. Great menu choice, prices are OK and if only the staff smiled a bit more then I would give it 5 out of 5!
