Very moderate breakfast - cheap ingredients, poorly cooked and presented. On the plus side, coffee was decent. For £11.95, I’d have expected way better. We should have heeded the warning signs - sticky table despite being only second customers of the day, tatty menus with porridge options crossed off crudely in red pen. Interesting to see that there are several other recent reviews with similar comments - wish we’d read them and gone elsewhere!

Awful breakfast. £11.95 - but cheap ingredients and poorly cooked. Cold beans, mushrooms dried up, no bread choice (just thin cheap white). Dreadful.

The best thing about this cafe is the location. The food was very poor. The poached eggs were both under cooked and overcooked swimming in cooking liquid. The mushrooms were dry the sausage dried out and the beans had been reheated at least 3 times. The staff were surly and the atmosphere nonexistent.

We have been going to this cafe for a couple of years now and it was the best coffee in Windsor. However just lately the prices have shot up and the coffee has got weaker. £3.55 for a flat white is very pricey for something that tastes no better than a very weak late. Such a shame as it’s in a nice location.

Walked in and all the tables were filthy. Staff all hovered behind the counter chatting and laughing. On see my family they looked annoyed that we had walked in. Asked if tables could be cleaned. One stroppy staff member pulled a face and said 'you've only gotta ask'. No, the shop should have clean tables. On saying ' I have just asked' she replied 'get out and don't come back again'. Totally shocking behaviour from this member of staff.

Served in paper cups when others sitting in had China cups. When I asked why the reason was that the shop would get hectic before closing. I suspect the real reason was the staff did not want to wash up any more. Usually good, the coffee was poor: a cappuccino that was mostly froth. The staff were not particularly agreeable when wanting the drink topped up.

went there for a coffee. Usually not a difficult endeavour but for the staff at this establishment, this was obviously a Herculean task they were not ready for. Visiting the cave of the cyclops, you would expect better service. Unfriendly was a the word of the day. The coffee was poor as Ulysses when he returned home, and the price as steep as Mount Olympus. I would return to this place if I wanted to dislike coffee as much as Poseidon detested Ulysses.

I enjoy going to Esquires as it's a lovely place to chill out with a coffee and people watch. A recent visit was marred by coffee that was too cold, tea cakes that were a bit stale and very burnt, children chasing round etc. We tried again within a week hoping we were unlucky: this time I asked for extra hot coffee yet it was still lukewarm and the barista forgot to put our syrups in our coffees. We were not the only ones with issues as the people at the next table did not get their scones until they reminded a member of staff that they had ordered some. I recommend it for the location but would be wary of going back again myself.

I went into this shop for coffee and a snack. I was queuing for some time and when I got to the head of the queue I went to have a look at the coffee menu. I happened to be standing on the left hand side of the guy who was paying and the barista said nastily that 'the queue is on this side,' before serving the people after me. I had been waiting a long time and the barista had definitely seen me queuing. He was obviously taking pleasure from being unpleasant. I left the shop without buying anything as I was floored by his rudeness.Avoid!

The barista did not know what cold brew coffee was and general communication was difficult. The only substitute was an iced Americano as I don't consume dairy. The cup was filled with tap water which was hard followed by ice, instead of using filtered, and you could taste the impurities of the water. The coffee itself was disgusting with no aroma and terribly bitter with the overall taste of old dish water. At a price of £2.40 which was rediculous for what I received, i should have just left when the barista had no knowledge of coffee to be honest. I would not recommend going to Esquires if you enjoy coffee.

The break I needed. After 2 and a half years of constant upheaval I knew where to come. Originally booking for the Wagyu I espied the specials board and went for the delicious apple and coriander soup, followed by a fantastic Beef Wellington, which I recommended to other diners and they did not need a second invitation. The pastry fell away from a beautiful cut of meat, and this all with super mash and so tasty gravy. Full, I thought, I needed a little time before I could tackle the 5 cheeses board all accompanied by appropriate red wine, LBV port and a liqueur coffee, Superb preparation for my 4 day holiday in Devon - I could not have asked for a better preparation. Thank you!
