Duke of Connaught in Windsor and Maidenhead

Having changed their menu to be Indian led. Ate with a group of friends and the food was amazing and complimented the excellent local pub that it has always been.

Been drinking here for years, food and drink are always great and the staff are super friendly. Never too busy to accommodate us.

Visited the Duke last night to sample the new Mediterranean menu. What fantastic choice of dishes, all well cooked and presented by excellent staff. The pub was full and everyone was delighted. The food and new cocktail bar makes this a go to venue for a drink, a light snack or fully on meal.

Really nice local place. Nice staff nice clientele. Must also say one of the cleanest pub bathrooms I’ve ever seen. Well done!

This pub was recommended to us. We visited today and I can definitely say we were not disappointed. The food, ambiance, staff and atmosphere was excellent. Would definitely recommend to anyone that wants great authentic Thai food or just a drink. Staff were all so friendly

Arthur Road isn’t one of the more salubrious streets in Windsor, so you really wouldn’t expect to find a Thai food menu in this rather unassuming pub on a busy route into the town centre. The locals are most likely delighted, since it means that you can generally find a table at short notice. But book anyway! Yes, the food is good, authentic and freshly prepared. It’s not an extensive menu, but you really shouldn’t have trouble choosing - and there’s a vegetarian option too. Very friendly staff, and I enjoyed the pub ambience. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike - if you’re prepared to take a stroll outside of the main town centre, it’s worth the effort.

First visit to this little gem. The ambiance is warm and inviting, the hospitality excellent and the Thai food to die for! A must visit for those who are after something adventurous for the palate but traditional in the setting.

Fabulous service and delicious Thai cuisine. My first visit to the pub and most definitely not my last! Impeccable service and the food was authentic, fresh and well priced. The ambience was relaxed and inviting and staff were friendly and helpful. Really cannot fault this pub at all. Not like your usual chain type touristy pubs in Windsor; more like a relaxed local pub serving awesome food and with friendly, attentive service. Looking forward to returning on a regular basis!

Found by accident . Great little local pub with fabulous covered garden area near the river moorings. Very friendly helpful staff. Had one of the best Thai meals ever and a bonus unexpected free bottle of wine on Mondays. Shame it is our last night and we cannot make a return visit .

Excellent food, good service & nice surroundings. Only complain is, as the décor is all hard surfaces, except for the seating, the noise level can be quite high & they also played music, which was unnecessary & only added to the general noise level. And, as they only serve Thai food, they could display artefacts from Thailand such as pictures or small statues etc...which would add to the authenticity and ambiance. But otherwise, very nice indeed.

They’ve got a lovely outdoor area with covered booths and heaters! It was all table service and the Thai food was nice :)

Dan,the landlord, has put a lot of thought, time and effort into making the outdoor area really attractive, warm, dry and safe during lockdown - they have heated booths for 6, lots of lovely lighting, an awning over the whole couryard and brilliant waiting staff. I loved the Duke before Covid but now it is just brilliant. Oh and great Thai food - always spot on.

We had a lovely dinner with friends in this excellent pub. The outdoor seating area is great with very efficient heaters, so even in a cold autumn evening we were warm and comfortable. I've already booked a table for a return visit!

Esto fue tan bueno y muy agradable. Desde el pedido por teléfono hasta la recogida en el mostrador muy bien recibido por Dan, y mi sabrosa cena, ¡puedo garantizarles que esta no será la última! Una necesidad. El duque de Connaught cumplirá felizmente su requerimiento y luego una pinta ha sido. . . Pero si eres un tipo de whisky, Hibiki te llevará a la luna. ¡Felices días chicos, la vida ha vuelto!

Fui a comer con amigos. Habiendo tenido la recomendación personal de dos amigos y ver las críticas entusiastas a continuación, esperaba una gran noche. En general, la comida y el servicio eran muy promedio. Comenzó con las gambas en los pasteles, las gambas eran tan pequeñas que solo llegaron hasta la mitad del tubo de pastelería, generalmente las colas sobresalen por el extremo. Sólo tenía cuatro langostinos; cuatro langostinos pequeños para 4. 95 parece bastante caro. Tenía cordero Massaman como plato principal. Doce cubos de cordero (muy tierno) con unas papas en una sabrosa salsa, con mucho arroz. No hay señales de las cebollas caramelizadas que figuran en el menú, y el cordero solo sabía a cordero, lo cual es extraño teniendo en cuenta que el menú decía que estaba marinado en la salsa massaman. Un amigo tenía los fideos de pollo y la salsa sabía idéntica a mi salsa massaman. La única oferta dulce era el pudín de caramelo, no muy tailandés, así que nos fuimos y nos fuimos a otro lugar para el postre. Hubo casi 45 minutos entre la llegada del primer plato y el plato principal. Nuestra orden fue tomada en la mesa y la comida fue entregada a la mesa, pero para todo lo demás (bebidas, información sobre dulces, pedir factura) tuvimos que levantarnos de la mesa e ir al bar, no es un problema, pero ciertamente no El atento servicio descrito en otras reseñas. A los 20 / cabeza, las bebidas no son caras, pero teniendo en cuenta las recomendaciones y las críticas, esto fue muy decepcionante, no volveremos.

Great Halloween quiz night. The atmosphere was brilliant. Bar staff were really attentive. Dan, the landlord, was friendly. Tasty Thai food. The other pub goers were a good bunch. Top pub in a fantastic location. Very welcoming.

The food here is to die for! Many curries, completed with options for vegetarians, all with a different taste and the standard rice is something I will never cease to come back for. All finished with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Hard to beat!

If you want authentic Thai food then this is the place to come. We had a selection of dishes and every single dish was absolutely delicious. Good size portions, nicely presented by attentive staff at a fantastic price.The Duke has a lovely cosy vibe, nicely decorated with a good range of drinks. Would advise booking a table to be sure for a seat and can bet you'll look to return again very soon!

Spotted this pub last night & love Thai food went inside but unfortunately they don't do a children's menu & the food would have been a bit spicy for our kids, went elsewhere to feed the kids & then came back, was well worth the wait!! If you are looking for a great Thai in Windsor, this is your place. Don’t even think about Gigging Squid (awful chain roll out) or Thai Square (ok, but not great). Authentic Thai cooking, great prices, buzzy room. Highly recommended.

Pedimos una variedad de entrantes y platos principales y todos nosotros quedamos impresionados. Soy vegetariano y me dijeron que todos los principales podían hacerse vegetarianos. Fui con la recomendación de las camareras de Khao Pad Roam (un plato de arroz con tofu en lugar de carne). ¡Fue increíble! La salsa vino de lado, y pensé que me iba a dejar un poco, pero no pude, ¡era tan bueno!

The Thai food was absolutely delicious. There were 4 of us and we all had different starters and mains. The service was perfect. Not intrusive, however very attentive. Lovely spot and we will definitely be returning

The menu doesn’t change but food quality is good and the Thai menu is varied. Welcoming staff and a friendly atmosphere. Worth visiting and trying as a back street pub.

This is always such an easy relaxed dinner visit. The food is great (can’t go wrong with the pad Thai) staff friendly and a great choice of pints on the bar. My only request would be that I would love to have a dessert choice to finish off the meal, but apart from this I think this is a great place to relax, eat and drink.

Flying visit to Windsor, mainly to see the castle. Popped into The Duke for a pint and something to eat. Staff are very friendly and the food is good. I had Khao Pad Roam which was very tasty and my partner had the Gang Phed Pad Yang which was "handsome". Generous portion and very nice IPA ale. If we ever come to Windsor again, and have time, would definitely visit again!

This review is for the food aspect of this pub. The pub itself is a good traditional boozer which looks after its beer. The Thai food is nothing like food from Thailand nor that of a good Thai restaurant in the UK. My Pad Thai was a sticky, beige, glutinous mass lacking in fresh vegetables, spices or other flavours and aromas distinctive of good Thai cooking. It was very poor quality and quite disappointing.

We had a great meal with good beer. There is a great atmosphere because it is a busy popular pub, and the Thai food is delicious. Also, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. (It's always a good start to an evening when you're greeted with a smile)

Lovely cosy pub, comfortable & relaxed atmosphere, went with a friend, we LOVE thai food and been to lots of thai resturaunts --- this place is definitely up there, excellent value for money, not much on the menu which I liked as everything on the menu looked great and their not trying to do too much like some places. We had sharing platter to start which was good and then green curry and panang curry which were both excellent! Lovely wine and really friendly staff. 10/10 will definitely be going back!

I recently moved to the area and this is our local. I love this place! Serves great Thai food along with the range of drinks and always a great atmosphere. My only wish is that they did prosecco by the glass.

Delicious authentic Thai food in a traditional pub setting - we shared a pad thai and a massaman curry and both were delicious. Friendly staff and the place was buzzing but not rammed on a Friday night - just right. Pretty good value too - we will definitely be returning!

Came for a drink. Warmest welcome from barmaid. Had a couple of Vinos and will definitely return for Thai meal on a Monday which offers a free bottle of wine. Very impressed with service

If you want good Thai food which is not overpriced then this pub is good to try. Staff and service is ok but the food compensates for any short comings. Would suggest you book beforehand if you want to at there on a Saturday evening as I've found it gets really busy and would call if you are late as they let your table go if you don't - as I have found out!

We had a very nice mid-week evening meal at the Duke. Very welcoming atmosphere. You know the food is good when even on a quiet night the tables were all in use. Best to book on a Friday or Sat night. No hesitation in recommending.

We booked a table on a Saturday evening. Quite by chance, being after the rugby had be shown on TV. This was obviously a mistake. When we arrived, the pub was heaving with drinkers and our reserved table had drinks and coats over it. We sat down and somehow managed to get to the bar to order a round of drinks.....this is as far as our evening went. The bar was ridiculously busy and the staff couldn't get out from behind the bar to either clear tables, or deal with diners. Food was being served to drinkers at the bar and the whole place was literally chaos. We moved onto a recently vacated table to get away from the drinkers stood all around our reserved table. It was a struggle to even get to the toilets through the mass of people. After a number of failed attempts to get near the bar again to order, we gave up, ordered a taxi and left hungry and irritated.We've been here a couple of times and have always enjoyed the food immensely. So we were very disappointed to have a planned evening ruined in this way. Either the pub is catering for drinkers or diners.....they obviously cannot cater for both at the same time.

We have been to the Duke of Connaught a couple of times and have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. There is quite an extensive Thai menu but the sizzling prawns is our pick. Some of the starters aren't as good as the main courses but this is often the case with Thai & Chinese dishes. Meals are around ten / eleven pounds, however the prawns are one of the specials and are fifteen.They also do take out and looking at the number of customers walking out with bags, this is clearly a very popular option too.Another great evening, music to tap your feet too (or sing if you've had a few)

We had a double date here with friends and had a lovely evening. Service was great and everything came out quickly. Atmosphere is typical pub so kind of unique to eat Thai cuisine but food was very good. My husband had pad Thai and I had the spicy dish and both were great. Spring rolls are also nice. Would recommend for a nice venting out with friends or for couples.

While it looks like a normal pub, you will find very good Thai food inside. The pad thai and their spring rolls are particularly good.

Lots of pubs today seem to have Thai chefs and since I love Thai food I am usually a big fan. The food here is authentically Thai, however the menu is rather limited and served on quite basic pub tables, a refurb is overdue at this establishment. I like to have hot jasmine tea with Thai food but no hot drinks are served at this pub/restaurant. The food was good and the waitress very friendly however there are many excellent cafes and restaurants in Windsor and the Connaught does not compare very well.

This place was recommended by the Host of the B&B I was staying at. It has a Thai menu and I was a bit reluctant but the reviews were good so i tried it out and glad I did. It was a Monday night and it got quiet busy but the service was good and the food was excellent. A couple of entrees and a main at reasonable price. Very good value.

Congratulations to the landlord of the Duke of Connaught, for running an excellent ‘local’ friendly pub with great atmosphere, good service and good Thai food. The pub serves local beers, and the food prices are very reasonable. I been several times to the Connaught, and will be returning again to this great pub.

The Connaught is a 10 minute walk from Windsor behind the railway bridge.It has all the attributes of a corner pub and got quite busy while we were there, I booked a table based on reviews on tripadvisor and whilst what I am going to write is not a bad reflection on the food, I can not say the 2 meals we had were authentic Thai food. the lamb Massamam and Thai Green Curry were very tasty and had all the right flavours, the problem was the bittiness of flour that must have been used to try and thicken the sauce up, there was no problem with value of the meal, would i go back agian probably to give it second chance

Visited with my girlfriend earlier this year. Had heard good reports about the Thai food on offer here and wasn't disappointed. Great atmosphere and good service. Food was excellent and delivered in reasonable time. Not overly spicy like some Thai restaurants I've visited - just right.

The pub and the food are run essentially as separate businesses. As a pub, this has got a rather modern London-feel to it with trendy grey wallpaper, wooden non-matching furniture and some tasty local beers.Where this place stands out is for the food. I've lived in Thailand, so I will tell you that the food has been modified to reflect local taste and the fact that a lot of traditional Thai ingredients (fresh herbs, in particular) cannot be obtained in England. That said, they do incredibly well within those limitations, and the Thai food is some of the best I've ever had in England. The kitchen staff are Thai and they are really proud of what they do.

.... It has been muted as the best Thai in Windsor and it is! Literally the best lamb curry I've ever eaten. I could have eaten it again and again. So tasty! The tables and set up are really nice. The service good and the atmosphere is really lovely. Simply delightful!

Very much a pub for the locals, although people from all over arrive on monday for the free wine with your dinner deal. Fantastic Thai kitchen with some very authentic thai food. Not a fancy selection of wines, but some nice local ales and the normal beers etc - good for a catch up rather than a taste of old pubs in windsor

The food here is just as good as the more expensive chain Thai restaurants in Windsor. Try the sampler entree platter and the Massaman curry on the specials menu.

Went as a social event after work. 2 main meals free bottle of wine, asked which wine was available was told not really doing it tonight, only for those that reserved a table, asked about the 8 meals and starters we order not qualify? Think I must have asked it in Spanish as got no acknowledgement. Any way order a pad Khing, bit boring, no real flavour wished I'd gone to wagamana, at least you know what you are getting and same price. Needless to say won't be back for food.

Lovely authentic Thai food can recommend the b-b-q ribs, Prawn Pad Thai and No. 25 - the stir-fried rice with mixed meats and a Penang sauce. Buzzing vibe, filled with locals and recommended to visitors but those in the know!

This is place to go, great English pub ambiance and fantastic Thai food. Jerry, the owner is around most of the time and is happy to have chat with you. You feel here like home.

Been here twice now in April and the food was wonderful. I opted for the sizzling prawns on both occasions and they did not disappoint. Shame there is no dessert menu as sometimes a sweet dish to finish would make it perfect. Would recommend.

The Duke of Connaught is located just west of the center of Windsor on a busy street but it is still a nice spot to enjoy the pub environment while visiting Windsor.

We thought we were going to a traditional London pub what a surprise when we went it it was a tai resturant but you could just have a drink very pleasant inside and after we had a drink the food smelt so good we ordered

First visit to this pub, won't be the last! I didn't really know what to expect in terms of the food, but could not fault any of it. Everything was so tasty, service was excellent, landlord friendly. A genuine, honest to goodness pub with top quality food. Excellent Thai flavours and as good as what I've had in Thailand.I hope we didn't over stay our welcome, we practically had to be chucked out! ;-)

We were unexpectedly child free, so called and managed to book what looked like the last table. It is our favourite place for supper and a quick drink. The staff are lovely, the pub is tastefully decorated and the Thai food is absolutely delicious. We particularly love the Pad Thai and Green Thai Curry- so yummy & good value at approximately £10/dish.Highly recommended, if you want an enjoyable supper and night out.

I love my local - it is small and compact but you can normally find a seat and they serve lovely thai food and have a great wine list. It can get very busy (especially on a Monday) but they reserve tables in advance and the service is always very friendly.

Don't tell everyone but this is a little gem! Good traditional local pub with an excellent Thai menu. We have eaten there a number of times now and never been disappointed.

Very authentic Thai, very reasonably priced and generous portions. Very pleased to discover this little gem after initially popping in for just a drink. The food was better than any other Thai in the area we have tried and I think we have tried them all. The portions size is very generous and all Thai Curries come with rice. Real Thai food cooked by Thai people! Can't wait to visit again.

Recently went to the duke after many recommendations from friends who live in the area, and I wasn't disappointed. Best Thai food I have had in a while, especially around the local area, and lovely beers from the local brewery literally round the corner. Would recommend to friends and can't wait to go back !

Forget that stupid one star review... Obviously a local of a nearby pub. This pub has the best atmosphere, the best landlord and the best food by far in Windsor. If you like Thai food in a convivial atmosphere then get yourself here ASAP. Remember it is a pub, not a restaurant- and appreciate it for what it is. Great for large and small parties alike- but do book if you want to guarantee a table, rather than whinge! Especially on Mondays when you get a free bottle of wine with any two meals ordered. Can't recommend this place enough.

Have been several times and always enjoyed. There is a specials menu which is really an extension of the regular menu but the prawn dish is excellent. Good range of beers. Smart pub atmosphere. Will be a regular venue for us.

So disappointed here, definitely the worst experience I have every had anywhere.Every table empty and tried to put us down the back on 2 stools for dinner.Waited 30mins for someone to come and take an order for food.Still every table empty and refused to seat us on a more suitable table.When we said very nicely the stools were uncomfortable and table too small for even one person we got the whatever from the waitress and she walked away.Obviously we left with such rudeness still with every table still empty ?Truly unbelievable.

Been in here s couple of times for drinks and it's always been friendly and warm inside. Different from the other Windsor pubs. Good beer and interesting Thai food on offer.
