A great little place offering authentic South Indian food. The service and atmosphere were great. The only gripe are the portion size of the dosa and uttapam. The dosa fillings were less than half the filling of normal. I would have preferred if they charged more and offered a decent size portion

Portions are small for the price and the curry had no umami. Paid 40 pounds for those! Very disappointed.

Not the best. But certainly not the worst. Being a South Indian, I had high expectations seeing the reviews. But the taste feel short. I think it's more suitable to an English palette. Nevertheless, do give it a try if you're in Newcastle.

A real treat for the food lovers & a big bang for every £'s spent ! Let me break down my experience. Visited twice., Once during the weekday & the other time on Sunday. Honestly it took me a lot.. a lot of time to go over their menu itself., such a huge variety of food & drink selections you can choose with it & I liked their crispy descriptives of each dishes & its origins. On Sundays they are serving Thali's which includes Veg & Non- Vegetarian's options with ton’s of dishes ranging from appetiser to desserts being loaded in the platter & being served. Dishes were piping hot & it hits the taste buds., could able to sense that they are nurturing their dishes with quality spices & ingredients, service staff's were so friendly (guided me to choose all the alway from appetisers to final course of menu), lovely ambience & their spiced cocktails were top notch. Had a chance to meet Mr. Sudharsan & his team. Kudos to everyone for bringing my back home memories 😊 !!! A must visit finest South Indian restaurant in Newcastle Upon Tyne !

Friendly staff and great food. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Plenty of seating (upstairs). Restaurant is round the back of the Main Street so may not be immediately obvious if you are looking for it! We have dined in a few times and regularly get take away

Food was not up to the expectation & not worth for the price.We ordered two Non-Veg saapad which is a disaster. But the dine in atmosphere was relaxing with warm music. Satff was good & very friendly.

I've been to Dosa Kitchens on many occasions and now feel like I've completed its sensational menu. This is a fantastic restaurant with authentic cuisine that is high quality. You can't really go wrong anywhere on the menu but I'd recommend either of the 65 dishes and the DK special Dosa, the prawn curry with rice and a parotha for main and the bounty brownie is fantastic but heavy on the coconut so that has to play to your tastes. The Lamb, chicken and veggie curries are all fantastic too and you get a healthy portion of sauce. You are guaranteed to have leftover so box up cook a filling of your choice and enjoy the rest of the sauce in the week. Great atmosphere with friendly staff, it is always busy however so they are pulled from pillar to post with all the tables so a slight downscore (that reflects my British impatience). Will continue eating regularly here! P.s. don't forget to order the fresh lime soda, mango or chilli ginger.

Visited Sunday (Women's Day special) , we were limited that we could order only sapad(Thalli) . Overall the food was decent, some of the dishes in Thali were very delicious and some were not up to the mark. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was ok too.

Son took me for Mother’s Day, place was cold food came before drink! Both of us feeling sick after food!! Wouldn’t recommend

The dosa was alright , when ordered for Paneer dosa it was served with shredded common cheese not paneer from any angle . The cutney for dosa wasn’t much of a wow . The kothu Porata was nice and the chilly chicken was really good. The atmosphere was nice with music and nice lights. The masala tea was also just ok kinda .

Extraordinary experience, everyone have to visit this restaurant once.Especially the Sunday sapaad is awesome.

NO WHEELCHAIR ACCESS. If you haven't eaten her then you should. It's delicious and very different. It's not your now famous British curry. You won't find chicken tikka masala. You will find a variety of South Indian dishes served by polite and energetic staff. A surprisingly unique selection of beers that are brewed just for Dosa by a local brewery. My wife eats fish and loves a good vegetarian option. She is never disappointed here. If you don't book ahead you won't get a table. Do I need to write that? A couple came in while I was there and she burst into tears because they couldn't get a table. Surely all good restaurants are fully booked on a weekend. Is it just me?

It was a late night order, and that didn’t faze the staff there. Thanks so much for still taking the order. We had dosa, porotta, lamb and chicken curries. The food is truly delicious, and the staff were so friendly. Looking forward to our next trip to Newcastle- so we can try some other dishes!

We accidentally booked collection for the wrong day, turned up and somehow they managed to do our order in 10 minutes after it was entirely our fault. Amazing food will definitely be back.

Amazing food Sunday is like a all you can eat as you get 7 dishes on a big plate and can order more of your favourites for free. But it's hard to be that hungry even though it tastes so good

Fresh, delicious food, excellent service and a lovely experience to sit and eat well. Tasty chilli paneer as a starter and a dhosa to share. The two vegetarian curries we had were so full of flavour. I wish I could eat this everyday.

I am from chennai india and I have to say this place is authentic and approved by me. Definitely must try. Also i loved the sunday sappadu which was so much food and too filling for the price and taste.

When my friend suggested we have dosa's for breakfast I was in two minds - Indian dining out didn't feel like breakfast food. Coming from a person who eats nothing until midday. But wow. The selection of dosa's was the perfect amount and there were so many beautiful flavours all wrapped together. Truly enjoyed the food and would definitely go here again - any time of day!

Staying in the area for a few months, fancied a local spot to revisit, this place is fantastic, a dosa is like a rice pancake, big selection of stuff you can have with it. I'm fairly new to I indian food and would definitely recommend this place 💯 They also were very specific when asking about allergies and had not issue with sorting a dairy free option.

Sunday sapaaat is absolute love

A great south indian resturant with dosa and biryani. I had the podi masala dosa, it was amazing but the podi was missing red chilli in it. I also got the mango lassi, it was very good one of the best I had in a while.

Recently visited Dosa Cafe in Newcastle and it was a delightful experience. The highlight was undoubtedly the dosa, which was authentically South Indian and transported me back to my favorite flavors. Delicious Dosa Masala just like in India! Service friendly and lots of really interesting Southern Indian dishes to choose from. Quite busy and not too expensive. We had plenty to eat for £55 for two including beer.

The food was delicious. The Ghee Roast Dosa with Masala is an absolute must-try. We ordered mushroom manchurian as well and were satisfied with the taste, but the portion size was small, so we felt there was room for a little more. The lassi was very thick and tasty, and the masala chai was typically cardamom tea. We were a little dissatisfied with the food preparation time as we had to wait a lot for our order, and between consecutive meals (starters and main course), there was a long wait, and we had to keep looking at the kitchen for food. It may be due to less staff in the kitchen, but if that could be improved, there is no competition for Dosa Kitchen in terms of taste. The overall experience was good. Thanks!

Genuinely the most authentic and best Indian restaurant in Town !!!

We did take away and they gave us extremely small proportions compared to the pricing of the place. The food taste wasn't that bad but I would suggest if you really want to eat here, dine in. NEVER do takeaways or deliveries since you will get barely any food.

Had masala dosa and masal poori today noon. It was awesome. Authentic South Indian taste. Loved it. The service and ambience is excellent. Will definitely come back whenever craving for South Indian food. I am really bad with name but I think it was Stalin- but special thanks to him for excellent food and service

This is outstanding. I'm an omnivore but myself and the others appeared to agree that the vegetarian dishes we had were the choice. That said the others were also very good.

food portion is not good according to price which are a bit higher,waiting time is too long it took 50 minutes to get my food,staff was friendly but food wasn't outstanding. it's really a normal average taste

A fabulously different and authentic South Indian restaurant. One of our genuine favourites.

The entry to this place from the back side rather than the main road. Quite confusing and hard to find a parking spot. However, the ambience was pleasing. Food was nice with an authentic Indian flavour. The quantity was not too great for the chilli chicken. Dosas were nice though. Can surely give it a try if you are craving some light food✨

Lovely south Indian meal really wanted to be reminded of masala dosas from my days in India in my twenties and this really hit the spot made even more special by kitchen sending out a free one! Great food and cocktails at reasonable prices. Very busy evening, so difficult to attract waitress to get more drinks so gave up.

Amazing but pricey if u have a stomach

Very professional when dealing with a family members food allergy. I had emailed them previous to booking to check that it could be catered for. The staff and chefs went above and beyond to provide a meal ( the Sunday Sapad) which was chilli free. As always the food was amazing ,which was for Mother’s Day , and the staff were so accommodating and lovely. An all round impressive experience and we will be back again as a family.

Came here for the Sunday special and it was absolutely fantastic. There was more than enough food, with dishes and dosas replenished on request. I have allergies to gluten, dairy and egg and this was no issue - they have gluten free and vegan versions of the menu, and were happy to mix and match to accommodate.

Always a wonderful experience. The food is too good to say no to this place. Love the masala dosa, chicken chettinad and mango lassi. I have been here thrice in a month now. Only if I got some loyalty points 😜. But, never say no to dosa is something I can say for now!

Must say food was delicious. However, the 'main guy' in the till is extremely extremely rude. He must be put on some sort of behavioural training course. Not good for customer facing role. Will not visit again

Gem of a place, nice and relaxed and great Dosas

A great meal. Seated quickly, drinks order taken and fulfilled quickly. No problem waiting for us to decide on our food order. The food took a little while to come but not excessive and was entirely worth the wait. We just chose range of Tiffin/starters which was perfect. The food was delicious, when they say spicy they mean spicy. The service was efficient, unobtrusive and polite. All in we had a good meal, a glass of wine and three lassis for £50. Great value. Be aware that the entrance is not on Osbourne Road but in the courtyard behind.

Great value and seemingly authentic Indian Street style food, certainly many unusual dishes with an emphasis on different types of bread. Friendly helpful staff and a sparse but comfortable feel.

A genuinely excellent experience. High praise to the friendly and efficient staff, attentive without being pushy. As for the food it was superb. Indian Street food done right. The Dosa was fluffy and light. The pepper and chicken was naughty without being insolent. The soft drinks were freshly made and tasted light and refreshing. Cannot wait until my next trip there

We came here because our usual place was full. The service was great, the staff were very friendly. The menu isn't as big as what you'd expect from a takeaway Indian, but the food was amazing, great flavours and generous portions. We will definitely return

Average food, the Gobi Manchurian need a lot of makeover it was served uncooked , everything else is average, could do a lot better in terms of taste. The chairs are very uncomfortable too

Dosa is good and tasty but I’m upset with medhu wada served only two which is in small size. I think they need to open one branch in westgate road, Arthur hills benwell because lot of Indian students stays at these places definitely sales will go 10x times .

Name is Dosa Kitchen, but unfortunately none of the dosa were available when we visited. We tried chicken biryani, it was a bit expensive for the quantity but the taste was really good. It came just above 40£ for 2 biryani, 1 chicken lollipops, 1 chicken masala, and 1 paratha. Bit expensive for the quantity but definitely worth for the taste and quality. Next time I would try dosa varieties.

The meat dishes are fresh and very tasty. The Dosas are amazing. Very nice restaurant in a great location. All the staff are delightful.

I've been wanting to go here for so long. Been on new year's eve. We ordered Masala Dosa, Paneer Dosa and Kothu Parotta. Paneer dosa was spicy for my daughter as she likes Cheese Dosa. Loved my Masala Dosa , Sambhar and additional ones. Mango lassi and Kulfi was nice.

Wonderful food. But the food amount is little less for the price of the item. And the dosa batter could have been fresh. Overall all the dishes were really good. Prices could have been less for some of the items.

Have been twice now, and has been amazing both times. I haven't found dosa as good anywhere else in newcastle, nice and quiet on a weekdays evening for a celebratory dinner. Nice service and tasty food, will be back again at some point!

Authentic south Indian food. Enjoyed every bit of it. Worth a 5 star rating for their food and service. Friendly and welcoming staff. We had 3 different types of dosas, medhu vada, sambar vada and idli and special uthapam. All these items were up to the mark. Soft idlis, crispy vada and pure ghee dosa. Couldn't decide which one tops the list. Will definitely revisit whenever possible. I wish they had more dessert options and the extended the timings as well.

I love dosa kitchen enough to drive 45 miles from Stockton to NewCastle (even with the A19 closures at night😆-because I’m such a passionate lover of good food and there’s no dosa places in Stockton). Their food is always high quality and delicious and consequently the place is always bustling - so don’t forget to make reservations! My favourite here is Ghee dosa and Kumbakonam degree coffee. I had to take one star off as the waiter service here needs improvement- a couple of times I’ve been served wrong orders, some items missed to be served and few times they’ve been a bit rude. Also, parking here is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
