Crown & Cushion in Windsor and Maidenhead

Fabulous food, extremely friendly staff in the dog friendly restaurant. The extra mile is just where they start! Will try their beer garden tomorrow… Going by that impression, I almost regret not having taken a room here - would’ve been a great experience for sure.

Visited on a Thursday lunchtime before getting boat to Windsor races, sat in lovely courtyard garden & had few drinks & paninis + chips which were delicious with plenty of filling. We were staying at travelodge as usual but next time we are going to stay here. Lovely old pub with really nice staff & atmosphere, dont bother with the pretentious Boatman, we walked in & walked out again! The Crown and Cushion is a proper pub🙂

If you are looking for a hotel with the pretension that it is a luxury hotel Crown and Cushion is not for you. But if you want an inn that has character location history and superb service I can highly recommend. The building is over 400 years old. The floors creak, there are steps in the middle of nowhere There is no lift to the rooms. The rooms are large and fine. The location is unbelievable - less than 10 minutes to Windsor Castle yet in quiet Eton. The breakfast is fine. The staff is as helpful as can be. Simply put can highly recommend.

Very quirky creaky hotel but above a pub and an amazing breakfast! Staff absolutely amazing - nothing too much trouble - sorted early car parking out and lovely pint in the beer garden

We come here for lunch most of the time we visit our friend in Windsor and have been coming here for 10 years. I usually enjoy my meal here but this time my fish and chips weren't very nice. The piece of fish itself was nice quality but very small - most of the dish was batter which was rather thick and greasy. Unfortunately the chips weren't very good either - rather greasy. All in all disappointing - the first disappointing meal I have had here. My wife had lasagna which she said was very nice.

Forget Windsor to eat, do yourself a favour walk over the bridge and find this little jewel on Elton High Street. Very reasonably priced food, fast and friendly service. Nice ambience, definitely going to return whenever we’re visiting Windsor.

Overnight stay whilst at a function in Windsor so this is a great location. An old pub, quirky and great for tourists as it is so English and the pub/bar is very old style too. Nice bar staff and the accommodation, catering staff are very good. Room 1 is the closest and is quite big, great bed nice and firm with a small en suite shower. The breakfast was tradition English and was tasty, cleanly cooked and well presented. I have used this pub before and will continue to do so - 100% recommended

found this lovely pub, with gluten free clearly marked on menu. Great atmosphere and friendly staff made it a great visit, and the food tasted great. Hubby had fish and chips and I had a gluten free ham egg and chips, really enjoyed and will certainly return again when in Eaton.

The Crown & Cushion is a lovely pub well placed to explore both Eton & Windsor. We stayed there for 2 nights. Breakfast was plentiful. Our room whilst small, it was ok for the 2 nights. We were made very welcome by all the staff, particularly Graham. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend for a short break.

The welcome was excellent . Was given a taste of a beer which I had not tried before, Rebellion beer (a local brewery). It was really nice . Later I went to get another pint and noticed the brewery had another beer with a suggestive next to it. I made a comment re the name and was asked would I like to taste it. The barrel had finished . A few minutes later she came to our table and gave me a tasing glass after changing the barrel. Both beers were really nice and not too expensive . My wife had a nice sandwich. The pub has a few rooms to stay , starting at £150 per night for bed and breakfast. W ill visit again when back in Eton.

A charming authentic pub. Staff are friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is great and the decor is traditional and quirky. We stayed in one of their guest rooms also, which was clean and comfortable, having everything you need. Yes, it was a room above a pub, and clearly this place isn't going to have a spa and a gym... but if you're looking for a nice place to stay, have a few drinks and something to eat (I only had the breakfast, which was great quality) - This is the place!!

Stayed here for one night as was attending a 50th birthday party at the pub The Watermans Arms which is literally behind this Place. The room was comfortable and clean, they provide a good tea tray and biscuits and 2 bottles of water for the room which is definitely a plus for us. The room was small but perfect for what we needed which was a bed for the night. There was ensuite facilities as well. The breakfast the next morning was the best I've had in a long time. The bacon was just perfection and the milk and orange juice come is fabulous little bottles that look like hip flasks. The staff were so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely stay here again. Location is perfect for Windsor Castle as its just a 5 minute walk over a picturesque bridge.

I have to say, as a semi-seasones traveller, that this spot is spot on. Graham and the staff were absolutely fantastic. I was solo, over for a half-marathon in Windsor, and it looked a good option in terms of pragmatism. However, the room was bigger than expected, spotless, and comfortable. The bar downstairs was hospitable and inviting. The staff, as I said, were great. They even let me check out late so I could do the run first. No qualms in recommending. Will return if/when in the area / doing the annual run.

spend 2 nights in this hotel pub establishment, and it was kind of what we expect from a Pub with rooms above on second floor. Location and service was fine at all levels, as expected. Room is OK, our room no 2 was very hot though even when weather temps were coming down. These is just no air circulation at all, unless you leave room door open, which is no option. Staff was very friendly, overall an OK visit. Location really superb !!!

Great classic food. Delicious with good variety and not too pricey (especially when you consider its proximity to the motorway) The portions were fabulous and by the end we were stuffed! Lovely decor and atmosphere, helpful staff, clean toilets. Perfect pit stop for a long journey

What a FABULOUS find on High Street Eton just over the River Thames. Ellie our server made us feel very very welcome. Our food was absolutely DELICIOUS and my GF option was fabulous. The plates were roasting hot which in turn kept our meal perfectly hot for quite a while. The MENU had a great selection. The pub it's self was quaint and had a large tastefully decorated outdoor eating/smoking area. We will definitely be dropping into the Crown and Cushion if we are LUCKY enough to be returning for another trip to Windsor

We came in for lunch. I went for fish and chips which I don't usually do in a pub as quality can be disappointing. The fish here was very nice, the batter light and crisp and the chips were tasty and not greasy. The portion was rather small for the price though.

We booked room 3 at the Crown and Cushion Inn over the internet for our last night in the U.K. We spent most of our time in Wales, but wanted to be close to Heathrow for the last night. What a neat place to stay! If you can get room three, it has an area that sticks out over the High Street which is really unusual. Our deal included free parking in the rear parking lot and an excellent full breakfast. This building is hundreds of years old and incredibly quaint, yet the room had everything you could want, they even have biscuits with the tea and coffee. If you're looking for a chain hotel this isn't it, but if you appreciate history and a great location, look no further!

The service was good but …..If you like barely cooked tasteless roast potatoes with skins on, raw cauliflower and cold veg then this is the place for you!

Hope you’ll take this right way but we were let down by another local pub that wasn’t doing food so we hadn’t booked. We had a wonderfully friendly welcome, offered a choice of tables away from the world crap/cup and ordered food and drinks from the bar. All food was freshly made and was served in a timely fashion given it was to order. Our 5 year old managed to spill salt all over her food and they kindly replaced the dish free of charge. Just great service and I recommend it

Great base to visit Windsor and into Twickenham to watch the England V NZ match. Lovely friendly people, great breakfast and pub meals too. Definitely staying again soon. Bonus is the location and free parking too!!

I went here for lunch with an American friend and we were both appalled by the low standard of the food. Neither of us could eat it, it was such poor quality! As another reviewer says it is a lower standard than a motorway cafe! The food had a dreadful appearance and absolutely no flavour! I asked for it to be discounted from our bill, but the Chef refused, even though he could see it was uneaten! The waitress/barmaid was so embarrassed by the Chef's attitude and discounted our drinks from the bill to compensate us. She was lovely and apologetic, but everything else about this dive was appalling! My advice is to avoid this awful place at all costs! I have given 3 stars for service only because the waitress/barmaid was so nice! She sympathised with us about the low standard of the inedible food!

Great location to visit Windsor. Accommodation very clean and comfortable and staff friendly. Breakfast very tasty. Just remember this is a very old building so floors are a little uneven and creaky.

We were only having a light lunch and chose from the sandwich list. Unfortunately there was no brown bread available so had to have ciabatta instead which was very doughy. Not very impressed with the food but service good and good choice of beers.
