Costa in Richmondshire

I have bad anxiety and don’t normally go in coffee shops so thought I’d treat myself to a hot chocolate. The lady who served me wasn’t pleasant or friendly, didn’t ask if I wanted regular or large, didn’t ask if I wanted cream. There wasn’t much of a queue so didn’t need to rush. The man put my hot chocolate down. I left feeling really miserable and that’s probably last time I go in there.

My favourite barristas. Today was extremely busy but the service was still exemplary despite the challenges they faced (broken dishwasher). I would highly recommend a visit to the delightful staff in this store. I'm a regular customer and always have a positive experience here.

Nice to receive a free cake birthday treat. Selection of cake was one. Not a large slice glad I was not paying for it as not worth £3.50. Service was poor as assistant was not attentive as to me at the counter. No one in the cafe at the time

I like Costa Coffee & go in them elsewhere, but every Sunday for 5 years I have bought two takeaway cappuccinos at Costa Richmond. If I were researching a book on the love & other life of baristas it would be great, but after queuing most weeks while 4 teenage staff stand chatting while one customer gets served at a time - with my partner stood outside with my dog when naturally it sometimes rains, this week I tried Wilfreds Deli and the coffee was nicer and cheaper. The grown ups serving at independent Wilfreds were very friendly and efficient. I appreciate Costa staff will not be paid much so they just need proper guidance eg serve the customers. ps I know dogs are allowed in, but the time it takes for a coffee he would wreck the place.

Visit each time visiting family in Richmond. Often quite busy. Staff pleasant. Only downfall they never seem to credit you for using your own cup, happened on more than 1 occasion. Some confusion when having an offer as to which items are included.

Visited many Costas due to travelling for work, usually love the atmosphere but not here, staff rude and inattentive, manageress sullen and sulky with no customer service skills, felt I was interrupting their girls night in gossiping than being a paying customer. Would normally sit in and work but got my coffee and left after a long wait. I think a huge staff shake up is needed. Not a good experience at all

no cash accepted , very uncomfortable , very stupid atmosphere felt like i was being gaslighted , virtue signalling and ridiculous constant government intrusions will never use this company again ever

Ordered a latte and almost had my mouth set on fire. It was hotter than molten lava. Coffee burnt, Milk burnt, and a foul after taste.

We were pushed for time so came in here rather than using an independent cafe. My mini flat white was very good indeed as was the cheese and sun-dried tomato toastie. They also take COVID hygiene seriously.

This is the smallest Costa that I have seen. Even less seats with Covid. However enjoyed our pot of tea here before going to the castle.

This Costa is in a lovely old building. It's such a shame that the upstairs isn't refurbished and made use of for extra seating as this place can get busy and there's only a small amount of seating. Staff friendly.

Went in here while I was in Richmond. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The store was clean . The drink was good and staff listened to what I told them.

Ok branch. Staff not as friendly as some branches. Not as good selection of newspapers to read. Coffee cups decorations hanging from ceiling looked good. Reasonably busy considering there is a lot of competition locally in the Market Place. Food good. A good stopping place on way to Dales. Don’t forget your parking disc for the town. Prices good. Use reward card.

Coffee good as always but sadly staff here were not as friendly and welcoming as in other branches I've been to.

Building/ layout is an awkwatd shape for a Costa, but the place is well-designed within those constraints, and was clean & tidy. Lady working there the day I went was very friendly & helpful. Made having a hot chocolate & a toastie on a cold, miserable day at least half-way pleasant.

Always welcoming, good products, polite staff that care. More than just a coffee shop. Full of regulars, tourists from far away places and walkers. One or two outside tables which are hugely popular. A well managed establishment.

Five-star excellent service as usual I would not expect anything less in that place the manager is absolutely fantastic and runs a very very organised ship the staff are all happy in their work and that's down to the manager and good team work ..A************

We always call in at Costa wherever we go, but in the heatwave of 30+ degrees the air con here was a godsend!

A friendly place, good staff, well managed. Early opening, always clean, just a nice place to relax and read their papers which are The Sun and Daily Mail

Popped in for refreshments on our travels. It was very quiet which made for attentive service. Teas, coffees and cakes procured we hit the road again. Looked very nice.

Whatever the weather, Costa in Richmond brightens anyone's day. Daily papers, fresh produce served with a smile. Nice atmosphere for young and mature customers, a nice starting place to begin any day.

It's Costa, or maybe it should be called Ronseal as it does exactly what it says on the tin! Tasty food at reasonable prices and friendly staff. Nuff said!

This Costa is probably one of the better ones it is quite spacious but the seating is cramped because of the layout. The staff were friendly and helpful and the coffee and food was of usual standard. Because there are a number of coffee shops in Richmond this one needs to keep up standards to compete currently it is very good and worth a visit if you like the Costa brand.

I visit Costa every morning and every single morning the same friendly fantastic service drinks and food absolutely fantastic every time lovely bunch of girls and Alex they are a credit to Costa Richmond North Yorkshire

was in Richmond working we went into costa coffee for a break we had coffee and snack bar very nice welcome and had a costa card and one coffee free .nice and clean and no rush to leave could stay as long as you like good

The first time at a Costs. The coffee was fresh and hot with good service. I will be back again to this chain.

Usually efficient with a wide range of coffees. Staff helpful. Sometimes noisy, dependent on time of day. One of the better places for coffee in Richmond.

We stopped for coffee and a bun. We wanted to sit outside. The tables had not been cleared. The tables had not been wiped down.

Really warm welcome by Master Batista Emma, very friendly and chatty. Well made vanilla latte and cake. All staff were great and very clean premises.

Always a lovely welcome. It’s like coming home. Emma is so happy to see us will miss her when she moves. Coffee shop now been open 5 years and we were one of its 1st customers. Lots of staff changes over that time. We also moved South but love returning.

The frontage looks welcoming, and the use of not changing the actual buildings historic foundation is a plus. Having two entrances is unique but adds to the welcome. The staff are particular and the tables are clean. Excellent

Nothing exceptional it's a Costa, the Barista was very friendly, apologising before she'd done the coffee creation on top. It was actually ok

With a broken leg this is one of the few places I can "hop" to. The staff are so hard working and friendly they cannot do enough to help. Costa management should be proud. Great coffee and good sandwich offer.

Great staff, excellent service. Greetings with a smile and very pleasant. Like most Costa's but thos visit was one of the best. The girl who served me was amazing. If i had been recruiting i would have tried to poach her for my staff. A credit to the brand Well Done

We called in here on Sunday. We sat in the window seat that is for four people but the tables can be separated. One half of the table had a tray of dirty crockery but there was a waitress cleaning up so we presumed she would take it away as she saw us sitting there. Instead of taking the dirty tray away she came to our table with another dirty full tray and used it to shove the other dirty tray towards us then went on to transfer one lot of dirt crockery to another so we had to sit through watching all the 'slops' being put into one cup and her banging the saucers, cups and plates together. She carried on doing this even after my friend came with our coffees. It was awful and made me feel sick. This lady needs more training on what she should and should not do in front and over customers.

We ran in to here as it was raining and needed a warm drink!

Called in here whilst wandering around Richmond after a walk down the Swale gorge. To its credit unlike other Costa’s we have visited recently it was very clean and staff seemed more on the ball. Nice to have our first Xmas drinks of the season!

Stopped here at the top of the square, mid morning and was pleased by the quality of the drinks and service. This Costa is well staffed and there was a Happy Atmosphere about the place that sometimes is lost in other Costas we have recently been to - Recommended.

When I arrived in the cafe, there was only one member of staff behind the counter with no one to help as all the others were having a break. I had to collect my own drink even though I had ordered food. The place is clean although could do with modernising.

I usually visit weekly. It's always busy and a magnet for the local Chatterboxes. Typical Costa fare provided by friendly Baristas.

Mi dios wow sabor muy intenso y muy agradable, si esto era una taza de tamaño regular, no habría conseguido. Un gran edificio con el amable personal es el mejor de Costa en que he estado.

I visited this store under unfortunate circumstances. I had just been in a car accident and been dropped here by the vehicle recovery guy. Friendly faces and good service helped by a warm place to sit and make arrangements was exactly what I needed. I got this and more!One of the staff overheard my predicament and offered me a free caramel muffin.A small gesture but one that meant a lot.Thanks so much for the kindness and warm place to sit.Faultless, will visit again but hopefully under better circumstances!

We visited with my 3 children and other family members. Staff not very friendly when ordering. Felt like it was an inconvenience ordering drinks.

My wife and i together with friends visited this Costa Coffee house for a lunchtime snack. We decided on four hot Panini's. Unfortunately there was a problem with the cooker, but the assistant came over to our table to apologise for the delay. This happened twice, but when they arrived, they were delicious and well worth the money. The latte coffee's were also to perfection. Well done to the staff at this Costa Outlet. Well worth a visit.

Just your usual average, same old Costa. Staff could do with being a little less over familiar with the customers, nothing wrong with referring to customers as "Sir or Madam"

We are not regulars on the coffee shop scene especially in our home town but found the surroundings pleasant and the coffee to a high standard

Mum and I enjoyed having coffee and frappés in here on a very hot Tuesday. The barista was very efficient and friendly and the service was good. Thank you.

Same as other Costa Coffee shops really but I was chuffed when I saw it as I could have my daily coffee.

Love this Costa. All the staff really go out of their way to make you feel really welcome. All drinks and food lovely. Visit regularly, good atmosphere too.

Ideal to meet friends for a quick coffee and a natter, can get noisy and not all the tables are positioned very well, quite often get knocked by pushchairs. The staff are generally very friendly. Ive never done more than a quick coffee because the food is all packaged and dosn't appeal to me. There are other independent places in Richmond Id recommend for decent sandwiches and cakes.

We visit Richmond regularly & always come to this Costa, it's by far the best one we've been to. Even at busy times the staff are friendly & will bring your order to the table to save lots of people waiting around. It does get busy & it's a shame the place isn't bigger, but coffee is always good, hot & served with a smile. It's also very clean, which isn't the case with other Costa's.

Costa Coffee Richmond is located on the market square in the former Richmond Hotel. There are a couple of small tables on the front pavement and inside it's the typical Costa style / branding. However, the coffee was decent and the staff were pleasant. Although we usually prefer to support an independent - Costa had longer opening hours - and at least you know what you're going to get with this chain.

Can't go wrong with Costa coffee. But the staff are often too busy to be friendly. Not so with Richmond they are always friendly and helpful

Always happy service....a great range of coffee & bites. Good atmpshere through out the day. Ideal for a take away when its freezing outside.

I like going there to meet with friends for coffee and a cake. The staff are always nice and friendly, you get a good selection of cakes ( which is important) and the coffee is always good. Thumbs up!

Costa is what Costa is - Generally if I am travelling I use Costa, it serves good Coffee and does what it says on the packet! Costa in Richmond is no exception in this regard, however the establishment itself is clearly a victim of it's own success and it would seem that the facilities struggle to meet the demand in terms of seating. In fairness this Branch is not alone where overcrowding is concerned but one cannot help but thing they really got the numbers wrong when opening up this one. I visited on two separate days whilst at Richmond, on the first occasion there was clearly no chance of getting a seat and therefore I did not order food and simply bought a take out drink and sat in my vehicle with it. Day Two was the same in terms of numbers but I did manage a snack with my coffee - not an easy fix this one but I am sure the area and business would benefit from a larger premises and more staff!

Costa is obviously an international brand, therefore somethings can be expected as standard. You'll always find the same drinks/cakes on offer, cleanliness should be expected. However this store stands for above the rest that i have visited when it comes to friendliness, welcome & atmosphere! The staff always seem genuinely welcoming & friendly. They work hard to connect with locals, remember drink orders etc. The coffee is always great!

I visit this Costa very frequently it is one of the best, staff are brilliant always pleasant and chatty. Excellent customer service and a very clean and well kept coffee house.

We are big fans of Costa Coffee and we love our local in the Market Place. We have a 4 month old baby and they always offer to bring the drinks over if we need, we get well looked after by the staff here, who are always friendly and chatty, which we like. The gingerbread latte is a huge fav of mine and well worth the money

Lovely staff, great service and drinks, nice to have a Costa in the area, needs wifi however. Always busy with a mixture of walkers, families, and groups of friends

Great coffee and nice atmosphere with friendly baristas who always appear cheerful and chirpy - more friendly than your average Costa which is a good thing!

His costa resides in what used to be a public house the change has been made outside very sympathetically but inside is now very modern - there aren't a lot of tables and chairs and not much space but beyond that it offers everything you would expect from any costa and the staff are very friendly and helpful
