Costa 2 in Basingstoke and Deane

Visited this Costa to get a drink and something sweet. Staff are all really friendly and I felt very welcome. I was served swiftly despite it being busy and left with a smile on my face.

For first time ever I entered the Costa coffee basingstoke opposite town Sainsburys which I have never been in and probably will never again. Sorry if it is standard coffee shop practice. I wanted a slice of lemon cake from a plate of 6+or -,a coffee, a hot chocolate and a slice of carrot cake from full bake. I wasn't able to buy because they were being saved for tomorrow (next day)? I didn't care for the coffee and hot chocolate and left never to return. It was 3pm and I don't think those cakes would have failed to be bought. I apologise if that is normal coffee shop practice but until I am convinced it's reasonable, I still think its not good business.

I went in the morning at 9:30 to have a coffee. It was not busy because there was only one customer in front of me. I waited till the customer in front of me had completed their order. The staff kind of ignored me when I approached the counter. There were no greetings like "Good morning" or "Give me a minute while I make the other customers' order". I waited more than a few minutes and simply left and went to the other coffee shop because I was standing there like a lemon.

Nice and quiet place to relax after some retail therapy. Plenty of room inside so you do not feel cramped like some coffee shops. Staff very helpful.

There are two costa’s in Festival Place. We’ve been to both but prefer this one located on the upper floor as it’s usually less busy. Had hot drinks and lunch snacks - barrista took the drinks order, heated the toastie/sausage roll and brought everything to our table. Good spot to rest your feet after wandering around the shops!

We arrived at 17:05 (they close at 18:00) to find the floor wet where they have started cleaning, and all the cakes in the cabinet covered. Since we were unable to see the cakes, we had to purchase a packaged biscuit instead. We ordered 2 teas with soy milk and were told that it would have to be in takeaway cups. This seemed strange as it was still nearly an hour till they closed but we didn’t argue. When handed the teas, we noticed the server had poured the soy milk in (without asking how much we wanted) and when we took the lid off it was basically a cup of milky water. Now I’m the kind of person who enjoys a builders brew (strong) so was not impressed. Took them back to the counter and politely asked for another to be made as it was too milky to drink. Without saying a word, the surly server took them away and proceeded to make new ones, in between other jobs. An apology would have been nice, for the inconvenience. When the new teas were done (filled in a large takeaway cup with way too much water for 2 teabag) we were presented with the soy milk in a separate cup this time which was helpful. The sugar sachets they give you are far too small. For someone who usually has 2 teaspoons, I had 3 sachets and still couldn’t taste the sugar. But I wasn’t going to go up again. We forced back about half of the ‘tea’ before deciding to leave. It really wasn’t drinkable. Very disappointing- all we wanted was to finish off the shopping trip with a lovely relaxed cup of tea. Instead we got something I wouldn’t serve my dog, and terrible customer service. Moral of the story - the staff don’t want you there within an hour of closing, and coffee shops can’t make tea!!!! Won’t be returning. Best thing about it was the packaged gingerbread man!

Nothing to write home about, quite busy but not a long queue. Service was ok but not outstanding. Good for a break after shopping.

Un buen cafe latte y un pastel delicioso. Esta Lugar muy sofisticada y limpiar y los camareros muy simpatica y professional. Un experiencia fantastico y no es caro.

Popped in here following a bit of shopping. Good to have a light lunch and a coffee. Service was fine and the food was heated well. Just wish they wouldn’t alway try and up sell the more expensive coffee beans.... very tasty.

This is our preferred Costa in Basingstoke as we find the others too busy and service is slow. They are always busy so sometimes there is a bit of a wait but never anything to complain about. Coffee was good but my only niggle is that they dont stir the coffee beforehand if you have a syrup in it so you end up getting all of the syrup in the bottom of the cup. Food choice is always limited in Costa but is adequate.

We have the Costa app in our phones so we gave our daughter the plastic card to use when in town. She popped in after school one evening and ordered her drink the lady asked in broken English do you want to use your points , my daughter yes please so she then put through my daughter,s drink and her 3 friends as well who were paying themselves, the barista never checked so we lost nearly all our points - we use them in summer holidays as a treat. Daughter got home and I asked her what she had as the £28.30p was now £3.20p what had she had, then we checked the app the barista had used all our points - not happy I complained to which Costa gave us £5.00 as a sorry - not impressed sorry feel very let down By your so called staff and to take the mick of the points taken and given Costa you have let yourself down sorry.

We went in at 7:20pm this evening and ordered two hot drinks. When the first drink was served up in a disposable cup we said we were drinking in to which the staff said they were closing in a minute. We then said if they couldn't be bothered to serve us with cups and saucers we would have our money back. They couldn't be bothered and we had our money back and left. The signage on the window showed closing time as 8:00pm. Their loss and Pat Val's gain where we were served with hot drinks in china cups at our table. Guess which cafe will be our first choice another evening!

Waited over 15 minutes for my take away tuna melt panini and soya cappuccino. It wasn’t even busy but they had people waiting for their drinks. I had to cancel my soya cappuccino in the end as I needed to get back to work. Bad service and very frustrating.

So you shut at 7pm But we came in at 6pm And was told no cold drinks as they had turned the machine off. I know you want to get out at 7pm and need to clean it but there was an hour to go !

Came in at 8.10 today no smile just boredom, personally i think you have more interaction with a funeral parlour than at this Costa Coffee. At opening time, the place looks let down, toilet are filthy, it is appalling, obliged to request another cup as the first one was grim, 3 years i have been avoiding Costa Coffee since a food poisonning so after today experience I will never come back, sorry Costa you are going down the drain, Disclaimer All opinions expressed are genuine, truthful and impartial….purely based on my experience this morning and should not reflect on other Costa Coffees outlets

as soon as i walked into the store i was greeted with smiles and genuine positive attitudes. you go to a lot of places and people never ask you how you are so it was nice to have this type of service here. lovely drinks. best costa in festival place

The coffee served was luke warm but this was rectified. The cakes were very nice, as were the coffees second time around. Our main gripe was the poor state of the toilets, we visited mid afternoon and it looked as though they had not been cleaned all day.

I have always found this Costa one of the best locally, the Costa in the Malls could learn a thing or 2 from this Costa as it is always a decent coffee with good service in a nice environment.

Very busy Costa coffee but the friendly staff were able to cope with the queue. All the staff were working happily as a team. Nice outside space.

Popped in here for a coffee. The service was reasonably quick. Coffee tasted good. Good atmosphere in the cafe.

Y yo las chicas eran de venta comercial y mi marido fue y tenía un café y un pastel mientras que hicimos. Dijo que estaba muy ocupado, pero aún así nos las arreglamos para conseguir un asiento en la ventana. Adora a costa y ha dicho personal siempre dispuesto y amable. Estoy seguro de que volveremos pronto.

Otra tienda de alta café calle, ambiente decente. Agradablemente no tuve que esperar mucho tiempo para encontrar un lugar para sentarse. El servicio fue bueno, pero me sentí un poco fría. Expreso estaba un poco fría, pero estaban dispuestos a darme uno nuevo. Tarjetas de crédito aceptadas.

Inside the covered mall, it is a great place for people watching and to relax whilst the wife is shopping. The coffee is excellent and they offer a great selection of cakes and snacks if she spends longer than promised!

Mi primera visita aquí desde su tenía su reforma. Muy impresionado con el nuevo diseño. El personal era servicial y mi bebida pronto hizo para mí. Disfruté de la decente velocidad WiFi gratis mientras yo estaba allí, un verdadero lujo tener un lugar de conexión que funciona en velocidad como decente en una cafetería.

I liked the teacake bonnet that I had, and there was a good selection of products. I also thought that the staff were very friendly and the queuing time was smaller. The prices were not low but competitive and not unacceptably high, additionally, the loyalty scheme is now promoted with an advertising sticker. As mentioned in my last review, however, the atmosphere is noisy and unpleasant. The floor was dirty and there were no clean tables, meaning we had to move the rubbish ourselves while the manager on duty was busy socialising with one customer, despite it being obvious that the number of dirty tables wasn't acceptable. A member of staff solely dedicated to cleaning would go a long way in improving things. The premises is currently unequipped to deal with the very high volume of customers walking through its doors. Overall, though, this was a good visit and I would return.

Café muy agradable pero nunca parecen disfrutar de la comida en Costa y he probado varias ofertas. Hoy en día el pastel de frutas de verano era un poco seco y no especialmente sabrosa. Quizás yo le pegaba al café.

Mi amigo y yo estuvimos viendo los dos machos con paciencia joven sirven todas las chicas bastante jóvenes que llegó después de nosotros sus bebidas de primera. Cuando nos señalamos, nos encontramos con una estirada' estamos ocupados".

I visited with a friend. The service was friendly although a little slow, I think that they were a bit understaffed as many of the tables were uncleared which didn't help the already overcrowded seating. The seating area was very busy and not very pleasant as a result. The dining area wasn't particularly clean. The cake display was cluttered and items were not all correctly price labeled.My cooler (fudge and caramel) was very good and well portioned. The Belgian chocolate caramel shortbread is pre-packaged so the store can't really alter its quality although in my opinion there was too much caramel.Prices are standard for a coffee shop and competitive aginst the nearby competition. There is a loyalty card, although it is inadequately implemented by staff.Overall, this coffee shop is okay but there is definitely room for improvement.

Upon entering I immediately noticed how loud the place was. I joined the queue and was eventually served by a very friendly woman. I placed my order of a Raspberry and White Chocolate cooler before proceeding to wait for it to be made. The food preparation area still looked like it could use a deep clean and I feel that staff should be trained to 'clean as they go' to reduce the clutter. A couple of the cakes in the display area were missing.After a long wait I was given my drink and while the man apologised, he didn't smile or tell me to have a nice day which would have been a nice touch.I left and tried my drink. It was of a generally good quality, it was blended this time however the raspberry just sunk to the bottom anyway. I would recommend the strawberry and cream drink instead.The place offers excellent value compared to the competition. Sign up to their loyalty scheme.Overall, I recommend. I'm not sure whether I would eat in though, because of the noise. Possibly go to the Costa by M and S.

Great place to meet, I arrived first and was lucky enough to gain a window seat so when my friend arrived she spotted me straight away. There is large mirror that does allow you to see who is sitting in the rear section so she could of found me if I had been back there. We were not rushed and took our time over tea/coffee. The staff responded straight away to my requests for the table to be cleared and cleaned. Drinks were made by friendly staff only down side is the cups of coffee so full and heavy that they are easy to spill on way back to table. Yes it was busy there was constant flow of customers coming and going, plenty of food available but it was too early for us to eat.

Busy but service was good. Toilets were well stocked but due to volume of users was untidy. Staff friendly. Tables cleared quickly .

This costa has the following strengths:- Very friendly service.- Averagely priced in relation to other costa's, cheaper than Starbucks.This costa is not good because:- The quality of my raspberry and white chocolate creamy cooler was inadequate for the price. It was not well blended at all - the raspberry syrup was all sat at the bottom and the top half was all whipped cream (not good at over £3) and an attempt at white chocolate flavour which was tasteless.- Despite the fact it has had a food hygiene inspection and scored a 5/5 since my last visit, I am still concerned about the fact that the floor looked filthy along with generally cluttered work surfaces. I noticed a small fly in the display for cakes - which also looked untidy.- There was no tag in the display area for the Belgian caramel shortbread indicating the price.- The drink took a little while to make, although I was reassured that it would be ready soon and I did not feel ignored or overlooked.Overall, I would advise that you stay away. I will be back, to see whether it has improved, at which time I will write a new review. If it has not improved, I will speak to costa directly.

We had a lovely cup of caramel cappuccino and a mango smoothie. 2 toasties (delicious). Only gripe is that I think its quite expensive at over £12.

Brilliant drinks and nice food with fast and friendly service and decent value compared to Starbucks ... much, much better. Nice atmosphere as well, a great place to visit and I will be sure to return.The food preparation area did not look brilliantly clean and they do not have a food hygiene rating which is my only complaint and is the only issue which would make me reconsider returning.

Great, modern building and as with every costa drinks and food fail to dissapoint! Highly reccomend. A bit expencive.

On the way to the Anvil theatre, dropped in to Costa for a coffee and hot sandwich. Food and drinks were as expected but the tables and especially the chairs have seen better days. The seat tops were filthy and need replacing now. This is not the first Costa site that needs some money spent on it. You see them down every street in a town but Costa are losing the plot, excuse the pun.
