Nice pub on the A4, parking and garden. The food was very nice and good quality. Staff were friendly and efficient. Would recommend the Fish and chips and the belly pork dishes.

Absolutely the best food in the area. If you haven’t tried it you must. We tried the Rib eye steak, my medium rare cooked to perfection. We have also enjoyed a Sunday lunch. Once again perfect. This place definitely goes the extra mile to ensure their food is of the highest quality and reasonably priced.

We haven't visited here for a few years and it is now a huge improvement. We both had fish and chips. It's very uncommon to have outstanding chips as well as superb fish, but this pub does. The quantity is just right and the price is reasonable. We had a very friendly welcome and the whole experience was great. Highly recommended.

Really warm welcome from the staff on arrival. Good selection of food on the menu & a specials board. Not a massive choice but all the better for that. All our dishes were excellent. The chef clearly cooks from scratch & everything was well cooked & tasted amazing. Will definitely be returning. Great pub, atmosphere & staff.

Great home cooked food & excellent beers. Great to find a restaurant where you know everything is home cooked & by people who obviously care about quality & ensuring everything is ok with the meal, without being over the top . Will be making this our new favourite eating place in the area. Excellent value for money too.nice that they have a dog friendly area in the bar & a covered area in the garden. Ps the lamb burger comes with a salad which I didn’t take a pic of 🤦‍♂️

Sunday lunch the meal of starters of fish cakes and king prawns all tasted good 3 items . Four meals 3 beef and one pork only problem was if you have beef well done was good to make a leather bag. Menu price £14.95 for two courses picking from ala carte for starters. Drinks one bitter one lager large white wine and a soda water . All together came to £103. Trying to workout where did the £40 for drinks come from.

What a lovely place. Very friendly. Steak was cooked to perfection & lovely touch with female hygiene products in the bathrooms. Ale on tap was ok but not excellent and cheesecake of the day was little tasteless. Fair pricing and was very happy to tip. overall a fantastic place & will recommend!

No great expectations as passing through on a canal boat and moored at Midgeham. Found this pub restaurant on TripAdviser so decided to do the short walk without pavements for the most part and had a great evening with excellent food and service from Balzac. The menu offered a reasonable choice but all of the dishes were very well put together and were delicious. Thoroughly recommended if passing through on the canal or A4.

Beautiful Inn and the best afternoon tea in the area. So much choice and the scones were fresh out of the oven

It was a private function that was well run. Nice atmosphere and a pleasant garden.

We had the pub to ourselves but there was not enough space and no where near enough food or enough variety. They charged for ice and I didn't see any service except at the bar

A group of us ate here recently and the service was excellent. We ordered the pork and beef and the meat was well cooked. The parsnips were a bit raw but the rest of the vegetables were well cooked there was plenty of gravy on offer too. I understand that it's very difficult to cook a roast for multiple customers but they did their best - there was no a la carte on offer which was a shame as I would have gone for a different choice to the roast. The dessert menu was short only 3 choices- the apple crumble was heavy on the cinnamon not to everyone's taste small amount of custard on the side. The price wasn't too awful but £8.80 for a glass of wine was quite steep. Parking is an issue so car share if possible. The staff were very helpful and we would come back on a different day not a Sunday.

We enjoyed a fantastic meal out for my birthday. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. I was really impressed with the quality of the food. It looked incredible and tasted just as good. I would definitely visit here again and would be quick to recommend to others. Points to note: Signs saying ‘Dog friendly’. Water bowls available for dogs in the garden. The parking area is small but there were plenty of spaces available on a Friday night when we went. Just worth thinking about if you have multiple vehicles in your party. Maybe worth car sharing where possible. Lovely large garden with plenty of tables in the sun or a shaded seating area.

Had the roast Beef Sunday lunch today and it was most excellent. The food is all cooked to order so you know it’s fresh and cooked to perfection. Staff very happy and helpful and I love the fact dogs and children are more than welcome in the lovely back garden Will definitely be back and would totally recommend to anyone fancying some great food at reasonable prices :)

Who knew this little gem was right on my doorstep. I drive by it every day and never give it a thought but we decided to go for a light lunch today, after going through the list of pubs local to us which are normally either over priced or not particularly that friendly we thought we would give the Coach and Horses a go. So glad we did, food was delicious, staff were so nice and prices very reasonable. We will definitely be going back numerous times. *****

What an amazing night at the Coach & Horse in Midgham. We had a private ‘surprise’ birthday party for our son’s 30th. The staff were incredible, friendly and hugely helpful and accommodating . The food was incredible, catering for 60 people with a variety of hot food. There was live music and we all enjoyed the beautiful garden and made the most of the sun. I can not recommend this pub highly enough. Thank you to all of the staff, chefs and owners for a great night! Thanks again, Gary

Amazing Sunday roast ! Impeccable service! The garden is beautiful with a lot of space for our toddler to explore, there is a sand pit and lots of ride on toys ! We absolutely enjoyed it will make it our to go pub for meals out !

Visited just over a year ago and revisted on a Thursday in mid-May. Pleased to say little has changed and the service and quality of food remains consistently exceptional. A wide variety of foods and drinks and a high order specials board. Easy to find on the A4 and simpe parking. Definitely not to be missed. Excellent customer service and always wants to please. I have no hesitation in recommending the Coach and Horses at Midgham. A great pleasure to write a positive review. Thanks.

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, well priced, really good food, super friendly staff, pleasant decor. We have driven past the C&H so many times in the past and only now have had the chance to try. Don't make the same mistake we did - do not drive by!

The external appearance of the restaurant/pub belies the great food and service you receive inside. Each time I have been here the food/service has always been great. The garden area is also great in the summer.

We visited on a Tuesday night after being recommended to visit from a friend. So happy that we did, this is the first pub that we have found that serves 'proper' food and mostly all home cooked. The set menu £20 for 3 courses, amazing...

We booked this last minute and I’m so glad we did. It was perfect for a family get together and I have to say it was probably the best roast dinner I’ve ever eaten out! The meat was cooked to perfection and all of the trimmings were delicious and more than your standard roast. Compliments to the chef and the waiting staff who were very friendly. We will be recommending and returning!

Had a lunch time meal with my husband. Couldnt fault the food or service. Really delicious. Will definately visit again. Thankyou. We had the duck pate and haddock fish cake for our starters . Equally delicious. Also both had Pork loin chops sauteed potatoes and veg in a cider cream sauce. Again couldnt fault it . Chop melted in your mouth . We didnt have a dessert as full . The table service was excellent. Very nice waiter pleasent and polite. All in all our 1st time visit and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Well done !!

I've now eaten at this pub a number of times over the past year and I've consistently been blown away by the quality of their food on every single visit. This time, I ordered a brand new special from their menu, the titular beef steak...

Food was average and service was slow. Only 2 bar staff working on a Sunday lunchtime. Desserts tasted like they were straight out of a packet. However, the staff were friendly and the bill at the end was reasonable. It's quite a small place, so if there are a lot of people dining, it can get quite noisy.

Great meal at the coach and horses on Saturday 20th Jan . Extensive menu . Will be back again soon.

Awful meal. Turkey undercooked and very small portions. Poorly presented. No pub or table decorations, no crackers etc. Very disappointing. Won't be returning for our regular weekday pub lunches and certainly not for Christmas ever again.

Had Christmas dinner . Very disappointed. Some of the potatoes were not cooked ,could not cut them . Turkey ok , vegetables very al dente , in fact some of the cauliflower you could not cut . No stuffing. . Had to ask for cranberry sauce, whan that arrived, approximately a tablespoon on a small saucer for 10 off us . I had Christmas pud , that was ok hot , but custard cold and the dish it was served in was very cold. . The room we were in was very cold , no heating on . The radiator was not on . We had to put on our coats. Yes I know electricity /oil is expensive. Top it all there was no Christmas crackers..

Just what we needed before a nearby funeral!

This is a hidden gem in the area. Unassuming from the outside as it looks like an old pub but the food is amazing! Prices are similar to the hotels in the area but the food is 100 times better. It’s a must try and you won’t be disappointed.

Six of us went for a meal on a Friday evening. Excellent service and food at s reasonable price. Would recommend highly and will certainly eat there again.

Outstanding customer service and food is phenomenal and very well presented. Beautiful little place with a great variety of food and drink. Parking on site, lovely and warm - I can’t think of one bad thing about my experience.

Very disappointed with the service. Asked for a burger, which could not eat since I am pregnant and the taste and the smell wasn’t right. Returned the burger with only a bite taken and asked for cheesy garlic bread instead. Shocked that still had to pay for the burger in the end of all, obviously made my point however the man that was doing the cashier kept his word that I should pay for the full bill since it was “a perfect burger” - at least for him. For someone that works in hospitality I am not impressed by this service at all, especially being pregnant! Well definitely not coming back after this. Lovely blonde young lady waitress tho! And in reply to this comment, I would have taken off the glass of wine and I did multiple times when and if the client thinks it is not appropriate to his taste, that is why you present the bottle and you ask the client to taste first :) I have never “changed my mind” and returned food when I was pregnant so I can reassure you that meat was off. Because again, the taste was not right. But thank you for taking the time to reply!

We had afternoon tea at the coach and horses a freehouse near Newbury , such a warm welcome from the front of house . The tea itself was fresh and just the right amount ,freshly made well filled sandwiches, warm scones and small bitesize cakes...

You won’t find a better pub in this area, the food is outstanding, served in generous portions and competitively priced. The staff are attentive and go that extra mile to make you feel welcome, fully recommend!

Had a buffet reception here after my mother's cremation. Everything was very fresh with beautifully soft bread for the sandwiches with plenty of fillings and piping hot potato wedges. Pretty and delicious fresh fruit slices and chunks. Plenty of tea and coffee. We had a private area for our gathering and were able to go out into the lovely garden for some family photos. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Coach and Horses for any private hire. Additionally we have eaten here in the restaurant with wonderful food from a comprehensive menu.
