Best coffee in Whitby and on a nice day nowhere better to sit and look out to sea.

A great little ice cream/coffee shop on the West Cliff. Great that it opens late (as late as 9pm in summer) so if pubs are not your thing you can go and get a milkshake and sit out under the fairy lights.

Writing this at request of the owner as my description of the ice cream purchased for me was incorrect. I called it a double cone when in fact it should have been called a double scoop. Please don't imply I didn't buy it from from Clara's (see original photos taken , posted and re posted here) I stand by my review it was the smallest , saddest 'Double Scoop' I have had and was disappointed. Sorry you don't agree. We both have our opinions. Thank you for your response..sadly the ice cream is pictured as it was handed to me. Untouched !!! Will say my grandson who is at the door came out and had a larger ice cream and didn't manage to eat it all. My reviews are honest and have reviewed a lot of ice creams. Sorry this was obviously not up to your usual standards.

Good coffee whilst sitting on a bench overlooking the harbour on a windy day. Excellent little cafe/booth.

Was in Whitby for a few days a couple of weeks ago staying at the Langley just across from this little gem of a coffee house it is great especially the hot chocolate 😋😋 it was to die for wat a lovley place 🥰🥰

This is more like it Whitby. The service here is second to none (I should say unfortunately thats not too hard as everyone in Whitby seems to be bloody miserable) but take nothing away from the people here who are very friendly and serve great coffee and hot chocolates. We were served very quickly and the drinks came in a very quick time. Again, staff were friendly, drinks were great and the prices were really good for this day and age. Also great location with adequate benches, I wish the place well and highly recommend.

My family has been coming here for the past fifteen years, and we have, without doubt, experienced fantastic quality every single time. The ice creams are sourced locally and have an amazing taste (I would recommend Cinder toffee). Claras offers many drinks such as coffees, tea, hot chocolate, and a large range of flavours of delicious milkshakes. The cafe is situated next to a beautiful flower garden with plenty of benches to enjoy your favourite treats. The staff are all friendly and offer a speedy and welcoming service. All together, Claras Cafe is a perfect spot for a drink or ice cream on your day out in whitby.

This place was an amazing little cafe for our holiday in Whitby! The staff were lovely and made us want to come back multiple times (which we did). They are very generous with the ice cream scoops and all seem like they really enjoy working there. An overall great place to go for a coffee with an amazing view of the sea.

I've been a regular visitor in Clara's for years and it never fails to disappoint with fantastic tasting coffee served by friendly staff.

Nice place to stop for ice cream. No indoor seating and cold area, but they do have a wind shield around the seating so you can't grumble.

Came here last year and had amazing ice cream with soft, melt in your mouth, fudge sprinkles. Returned today expecting the same. Instead I got uneatable, rock hard fudge that looked like it had been left for several months and dried up and the ice-cream was not great either. The fudge hurt to chew. We had to put it straight in the bin. At £3.25 this was not cheap. I would've returned for a refund, but a large school group were queuing and I was not going to make my disappointed 4 year old wait in the queue behind them. We had to go elsewhere for an ice-cream. I spoke to 2 other customers, who both said the ice-creams were disgusting today. The 3 lattes were not bad. Definitely won't be returning and after speaking to the other customers, I don't think I'll be the only one.

Love the mint milkshakes but seen the had cinder toffee ice cream so wondered if i could a cinder toffee milkshake as not on the menu popped In ask wasnt a problem got a cinder toffee milkshake and a strawberry one defo be back the staff are lovely and friendly would recommend 100% .😁😁😁😁😁

Great service. Quick and efficient, especially well managed with Covid-19. Small selection of tasty ice creams which can be milkshakes. The coffee are okay too. This is a regular spot for us every year. There is often a good atmosphere around the cafe too, with seating outside and plenty of nearby benches with a view.

I am always pleased when little cafes like this offer oat milk. I had an iced oat milk latte with syrup (can’t remember which one). It was lovey and not too milky.

Always a good place to pick up a sandwich and a drink and have a good chat with the staff that work there. They always have a good smile on their face and do an amazing job 👍😎.. definitely a good place to grab a snack and enjoy the view from the cliff.

Great place for ice cream and coffee they also have many more items staff are very friendly and helpful. This is a fantastic place for a drink or ice cream definitely pay them a visit you will not be disappointed.

Ice cream wasn't particularly good. A lot of Ice crystals.

Nice spot for an ice cream or coffee or both. Sit out on the cliff top in the sun. Reasonable prices considering it's Whitby which meant we bought both coffee and ice cream. Clean and well set out premises. Thank you.

This is the best takeaway coffee shop in Whitby, coffees, shakes, ice cream (lemon tops and cider toffee) are a favourite a few sweets, scones, biscuits and occasional sandwiches. The staff are friendly and very chatty and the summer sunsets are absolutely unbelievable and rather nice.

We love a visit to Clara's on the West cliff when staying at Whitby. The place is tiny & no indoor seating but you don't need it when you have a beautiful view of the sea. Staff are lovely and the Coffee is great.

Lovely little cafe yet sales so much. Ice cream, sandwiches, little bag of sweets, hot n cold drinks, and so much more, the view is amazing. Can't believe such a small place is open for 12 hours, lots of outside seating, will take some beating to find a better outside seaview cafe

My regular call when I have an appointment in town or if I'm just at a loose end, a stroll about on Westcliff followed by a coffee. Thanks to all the staff as they are smashing and I feel awful if SBC have taken all my change for the toilets so that I cannot leave a tip.

If Carlsberg made whippy ice cream….. ohhhhh it’s the best out favourite is the Lemon top Whippy in the waffle cones , Humongous, Delicious and worth every Penny… the girls are great also always helpful and friendly x

If you are in Whitby then you need to visit Clara's! The coffee is fabulous and the hot chocolate is yummy. Their ice-cream is very tasty too, they also sell a selection of freshly made sandwiches and cakes. Be prepared for a short wait though - they get very busy, and it is only a small shop 😁
