In new hands to changes are for the better, well worth a visit to support a local business

We had a lovely meal here but one thing spoilt our evening, our daughters had given us a £100 voucher for a meal here, upon finishing our meal we were given a bill of £84.00, we showed the voucher but was offered no change, we was told that because it was paid by card they couldn't give us any change, we were given a small bottle of wine and a bottle of beer, I suppose this was supposed to be compensation but I do not think this is good practice for such a good restaurant, also we do usually give £16.00 tips, shame this was the only thing that spoilt an otherwise lovely meal.

Spacious and clean, nice ambience, friendly staff, great food with the real taste of India, and not overpriced! The kitchen is open plan, so no doubts about food hygiene.

Amazingly friendly atmosphere. Clearly run by a very caring and dedicated family who care about their customers and their business. Curry was very good — could have been a bit spicier for my taste. Palak Paneer was excellent!!

Food was absolutely amazing (I recommend the Paneer Tikka). The service was also great! Has campervan parking as long as you eat (which we recommend), otherwise charges a fee. But if you can go for dinner, they are a great restaurant to support! Thanks again, we’ll be back!!

Great food lovely owner, Chef and staff. Dog friendly dining in bar area. Motorhome friendly car park and stop over, perfect for the Dover Ferry crossing. Highly recommend.

Chance led us here. We were looking for a place to stay overnight for our campervan. We were allowed to stay here, and it goes without saying that you can stop here for dinner. The ambience is rather functional, but clean. The service friendly and attentive. The food, we had the Murgh Makhani at £10.95 and the Chicken Pepper Marsala also at £10.95. As a side dish, rice £3.95 and Garlic Cheese Naan £4.25. The prices for the food are okay. However, a pint of Peroni here costs £7.40. I found that very expensive. Nevertheless, my rating is top! The food is incredibly good. You have the open kitchen in view the whole time. The work here is professional and clean. An absolute recommendation for us. We will be back. The food, devine, don’t think of this place as just another Indian restaurant, see the extra touches to give the food flavour, pomegranate, star aniseed, to name but a few. What a little find this was. We had a warm welcome and shown to a table. Lovely staff both very friendly. Ordered our food the poppadoms were lovely and hot made in front of us as were the naan breads. Our starters and mains were outstanding full of flavours the tastes were delightful. We will return on our next visit

Me and my boyfriend came here on 18th September whilst staying in Dover and the food was amazing we had the chicken chettinedand chicken murgh makhani they were delicious, service was really good, highly recommended 👌 we will definitely be coming back when we visit again.

Tonight we had a perfect meal. Starter.... somosa and papedam, main ....two fishcurrys with rice and garlic nan. Kind service and coosy atmospheer with a lot of people on this saterday night. We have our campervan on the parking and leave tommorow with the ferry.

We will be back :) Also For a Wednesday evening they had a few tables in which was nice as it’s a very large restaurant. Hopefully they will continue to do well/keep busy and with a freshen up of decor in the future, it has a lot of potential!

So we went there in the evening after a long day of traveling. It was the best Indian food I ate after such a long time. The staff was so kind and the food arrived very fast. You can actually see how the chefs prepare your food in an open kitchen. It was a very nice and highly recommended experience in the city of Dover. And if you eat there, you can also stay one night at their parking place for free, wich is a real nice insider tip for all the campers.

We were visiting Dover from the US and found this restaurant. We can't say enough. The food was tremendous and the service was exemplary. We give it the highest recommendation.

The food was great. It could be that Indian food in Britain is spectacular in general due to geopolitical decisions in the prior 200 years, or it could be that the food is actually that good compared to the competition. I don't have enough experience in Britain to ascertain that. But, it was certainly better than any Indian food I've tasted in either America or Germany (again, my experience is relatively limited). It could be other countries, such as India itself, have better food, but I have yet to find it. The place could be a bit cleaner though, hence the star removal from "Atmosphere". But, do beware: If you have a dog, and the pet crematorium is active, they may be able to smell it. We couldn't stay overnight camping in the parking lot because my dog acted as if the devil himself were in the air (inside the restaurant, she was fine).

We stopped in for lunch last Sunday. It was very quiet which is a shame because the food is excellent and the service is good natured and professional. The lamb biryani and sag paneer were especially good and nicely presented too which isn’t always the case with Indian food. A truly enjoyable lunch experience.

We came here on a Sunday night just after having arrived in Dover and it wasn't quite easy to find a place that stayed open until later in the evening. We were very happy with our authentic dishes and the kind and fast service at Chef de Mumbai and the food was good value for the money. Would definitely recommend (:

This is a fantastic gem of a restaurant. We went there for a family sunday lunch. The owner and staff were brilliant. The food is authentic indian, mumbai cuisine. You will not be disappointed by the food. Will be back next time and play some carrom too.

We were made to feel very welcome for a table without a reservation. The team were very friendly and the food outstanding, fresh, not oily and all homemade recipes. We loved it and will be back.

This was our second visit in our motorhome prior to crossing the channel. The lovely owners were very welcoming and the food was as amazing as last time. This is an amazing Indian restaurant. We went there after our Ferry journey back from Europe. They took care of us really well, very attentive staff and authentic Indian food from chef from India. They use fresh ingredients and can cater to your taste. Highly recommend this place.

Stayed here overnight in their carpark, just up the hill from ferry port, food was good staff pleasant nights sleep was good.

Food made from scratch with fresh ingredients. No artificial food colouring used. Extremely flavoursome. Although located in an old Inn and therefore constrained in layout, do not be put off as the food and service is excellent. Offers overnight Motorhome and Camper Van parking too for free. Highly recommended for food, proximity to Dover ports and an overnight stopover

We stayed overnight in our motorhome in the car park which felt quite safe. Restaurant staff all very friendly and welcoming including to our dog in their dog-friendly area of the restaurant. Food was excellent and tasted fresh and a notch above the average Indian restaurant. Overall, no complaints and we will be back the next time we are passing through.

Went here for my anniversary with my 4 months old son. Amazing customer service. The manager was very lovely and interactive. He played with my little one and took him around, which gave me and my husband some alone time. The food was really tasty. We ordered mixed grill for starters, chicken korma and fish curry. Would defo come here again when we are around! 10/10.

The service was impeccable; the hosts went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was flawless. They were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel right at home. Chef de Mumbai is a gem for anyone looking to enjoy genuine Indian food. Highly recommended! We can't wait to return.

The staff were nice and the premises was clean. But overall really disappointed, the curry was bland and runny. It was meant to be a Korma and it didn't taste anything of coconut and wasn't a thick creamy consistency that Korma is meant to be. Wasted £25! Could have had a more flavoursome curry at Tesco.

Amazing Indian! We will definitely be back. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, the rest of the staff were great. The food was incredible and reminded us very much of the food in India. The owners helped us improve our pronunciation and talked to us about the pictures of India. Cannot rate this place enough and will be taking friends to visit.

The food is excellent and authentic. We had starters and main courses and were very happy with everything. The service is very friendly. Only the interior contrasts with the quality of the kitchen. Don't let that stop you from eating here.

Would definitely recommend. 2023 - The food was amazing. Sadly, on both occasions, it was extremely evident that the only reason the owner did not check in on my experience at the restaurant but he did with my friends was because of my ethnicity.

I spent the last evening of our vacation here with my sons. We were really excited. We received a very friendly welcome, enjoyed a wonderful meal in a nice atmosphere and were able to use the cozy sofa corners to play together. We could then spend the night in the parking lot for free. This applies to all RVs when you eat here. The restaurant is only 10 minutes from the harbor. We'd love to come back. A very nicely decorated restaurant with relaxing Indian music, comfortable chairs and sofas, very friendly staff and very tasty food. The evening before the crossing to France, we drove to the restaurant in whose parking lot you could stay overnight for free with your camper or similar. Many different dishes from Indian and Pakistani cuisine are offered. I ordered a lamb dish with fries as my main course, and then had a classic Indian dessert. Even if you can't tolerate a lot of spiciness, you can ask the waiter to make your dish less spicy. My fellow travelers and I were also allowed to sit in the lounge and play cards. The toilets are very well maintained and clean and the food is inexpensive. This establishment is one of the best I have visited in England and with a direct location (5 minutes) from Dover Harbor it is perfect for the night before the crossing.

Truly authentic Indian restaurants are few and far between in the area but this is one of them. A great meal and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. A varied menu of vegetarian and meat dishes to cater for everyone. Well worth a visit, I am going back!

This spot was highly recommended and rightly so. The food is really authentic and not your average Indian restaurant. All delicious. The service is super friendly and, if you eat there, you can stay free overnight on their lovely car park. Ideal for before or after a ferry crossing.

Superb meal before we boarded a cruise ship. The Railway lamb was exceptionally good. Service was brilliant, will definitely return for another delicious meal. The only disappointment was the glass of Shiraz I had, it wasn’t quite up to standard but I certainly wouldn’t let that put me off from visiting again.
