Castle Sleeper & Castle Inn Restaurant in Rutland

Fantastic service and fantastic food, booked for an 18th Birthday and was extremely well catered to. From owner to the staff everyone was extremely professional and polite along with serving very nice food all served in a timely manner as there were 12 of us. Will be going back as there is so much to choose from, this place is a hidden gem and I should have been going here before other places I have visited. They have a fresh pizzeria where you can choose your own pizza and toppings, a Sushi bar, general pub food and some gourmet food too.

On arrival staff seemed disinterested and this remained the feeling throughout our experience. Drinks were good, starter was small , main was good and tasty. No staff checked if we were happy with our meal and no dessert menu offered or coffees. No alternative milks available. Overall a disappointing experience at a very lovely venue.

My wife and I ate there last night with our two kids and one of their friends. They had a huge table of about 20 eating and unfortunately forgot to cook one of our kids pizzas. They sorted it straightaway and offered to take that one off our bill as a gesture of goodwill. The waiter was superb. Pizzas were delicious and my wife’s ravioli off the special menu was superb, as was my spaghetti with prawns, chilli & garlic. Great food at sensible prices. Not sure why they’ve introduced a Japanese menu at rather hefty prices. Doesn’t seem the right place for this.

Friendly staff , big parking , nice atmosphere. Fancy a pizza , pasta but Your girlfriend want sushi no problem they have it all and it's delicious, would recommend This restaurant to everyone. Ps. Sometimes they are really busy and everything it's prepared fresh so be prepared to wait a bit longer but trust me it's worth it.

Menu is limited if you have dietary requirements. As such I had little to no choice as to what I could order but tried to make the best of it. Unfortunately a couple of small dishes I could have were unavailable, so again I ordered what I could. The waiter mocked my choice when serving the food. Nobody thought it was funny. Sadly as we all began to eat I could hear at least two members of staff in the kitchen loudly mocking me and my food choice, laughing and being incredibly rude. As it was literally the only thing I was able to order from the menu I was already self conscious. Tip for the staff: if you are going to mock and slate your customers, be sure to do it out of earshot. I quietly left the table and went to relax outside with my drink so that the rest of the group could enjoy their meal. I was made to feel small, uncomfortable and was mocked. The rest of the group reported that the food left a lot to be desired so needless to say none of us will be returning for a variety of reasons. We actually went to another place down the road and had some delicious food and excellent service.

Fabulous fresh made pizzas, the best I’ve eaten in a very long time. Superb staff to, such a friendly place can highly recommend.

I booked for 4 of us for my partners birthday meal, when we arrived the restaurant was quite empty just us and another 2 tables. We ordered our 4 mains and only 2 arrived, they did not tell us there was a problem with the pizza oven we were just told the pizzas would be with us soon. They arrived when the other two mains were nearly finished, not what you expect when you go out for a meal together. We then waited over 20 minutes for them to ask if we would like to look at the dessert menu, when the waitress came to the table she asked if we preferred cream or ice cream, all of us replied ice cream. The desserts arrived with whipped cream I pointed this out and was told we can get you the ice cream, they turned up at the table 5 minutes later with ice cream for 1. When we went to pay the bill the gentleman at the till told us he knew nothing of the problems even though my partner had heard one of his staff explaining the problems to him. His response was what do you want me to do discount your bill, that is not for us to tell you, surely the lack of good service was not acceptable, the food was good although took its time to get to us. BY THE WAY NO DISCOUNT GIVEN.

We booked a table and when we arrived were promptly shown to are table we ordered our drinks then ordered our food. We both went for the Sunday roast and my wife asked for her meat to be well done. When the food arrived it was well presented the food was cooked to perfection but we did ask for some more gravy the waiter quickly sorted this out. The meat was lovely and tasty the Yorkshire pudding took up half the plate roast potatoes the parsnips and carrots were very tasty. We had 1 tiramasu and a sticky toffee pudding with custard dor afters both lovely. Along with the drinks the bill was just over £120 very good overall value

I did so want to give this more. there were 8 of the party and on the whole the food experience was good. My partner had the ribeye steak cooked exactly how he wanted so happy bunny. Sadly, though my lasagne tasted good it was too big, too mushy and the pasta a was well overcooked. I know this place is brilliant for large parties (they had 80) booked in that evening, but, at lunchtime it was freezing. The heating was on but is old and really needs totally updating. Also they miss a huge trick. Open the whole wall facing the valley and castle make it a feature. No cider on tap. The barrel had gone! Sorry, but huge party in evening, bottled isn't good enough? The staff member was lovely. The place is beautifully clean. So, the positves are more than the negatives but one I won't rush back to.

A great experience. Our party was 17 people ranging from toddlers up to grandparents for a surprise 40th birthday meal. The food we ordered off the menu was varied yet everyone loved what they ordered. Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Would highly recommend for this type of gathering and definitely intend going back as a smaller group.

Had a lovely late lunch here today, pizzas excellent and so was the Cajun chicken. A bit pricey but don’t mind paying that for good food. Friendly staff too

We had a takeaway from the castle inn and definitely didn’t live up to the price, first the guy who we called up advised we should hang up and order through their app and that we would get 40% discount by doing so, I know he was trying to be nice and get traffic through the app but the app doesn’t work on IPhone (only Google play app) so was a bit annoying knowing we could have got a discount but couldn’t because the app not widely available. So anyway we ordered a chicken risotto which was tasty but hardly any of it especially as the price for the dish was £11:50, same for chicken sold as a main (£7.50) and had like 5 wings max, they missed one of our fries completely and the ones that did arrive were cold and soggy. All in all to pay £40 for the whole thing we felt a bit ripped off and under whelmed - if your going to do home delivery make sure it’s good value or people just won’t do it again

We had a family celebration and decided to go to The Castle for pizza. What a great night. There were 12 of us and the service was fab. All the pizzas came out at the same time and were really good. Staff were great, friendly and efficient. There was another large table dining and the staff seemed to be coping with it brilliantly

Decided to go out for Sunday lunch today as a bit of a last minute thing...so glad I did as was lovely. Myself and my friend both had the lamb, which was cutlets and came with roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips, broccoli, mash and huge Yorkshire pudding. Was only a small serving of the mash, as plenty of roast potatoes, but could definitely have eaten more as was so lovely and buttery. Also the gravy was one of the nicest we have both tasted. As if that wasn’t enough we had to have a pudding, both chose sticky toffee pudding...again this was lovely but just couldn’t finish it as it beat us. The staff were friendly and helpful and wearing masks. Also plenty of space for social distancing so felt comfortable. I would definitely recommend a visit for a lovely Sunday lunch which was also very reasonably priced

A very dissapointing visit here for dinner tonight!Considering we are currently in a global pandemic, we were not made to feel safe. No social distancing measures were put in place, no hand sanitiser was provided at the entrance or on tables, staff were not wearing any PPE and the tables were not wiped down once they had been used. Food was cold, didn’t all come out at the same time never again !!!!

Excellent food and service. Although only a limited bar selection, the food more than made up for it. The waitress was very helpful and ensured all diners were happy with their food. Good varied menu and dessert menu.

I am a regular customer here,love spending time in the restaurant due to the lovely food. But I actually get put off sometimes with the service. I am a fussy eater, but I am always polite,far from difficult! So asking for no onions, or balsamic on my salad,no parmesan on my foccia... I got a takeaway tonight and I was rushed off the phone, and he clearly didn't ask for my requirements.. I'm not picky, and don't like to complain but it has become normal to expect my order to be wrong..if it isn't taken properly? And why is the food always changing? Like the place,owner is very nice and has great customer service.. The staff really need to how to handle customers as I and other people have clearly noticed this.

Went here for a midweek meal.Food was very good, both pizza and pasta - no issues at all and very good value.However, I was disappointed with their covid response....Signs saying use the sanitiser - very little available and none at the entranceNo visible cleaning down and lots of food debris on the floor creating the impression of insufficient cleaningNot disposable menus and reused ones with stains - funny what you notice these daysGetting too close when taking orders - social distancing is still a thing Not name and address gathering for track and traceDidn’t seem to have got their act together with the new reality. Personally I will go to places that visibly are making the effort to make me feel safe, and so unlikely to visit here again quickly

Needed a special meal for my husband's birthday during lockdown. Ben, chef at the Castle Inn went outside the takeaway menu to cook a superb Salmon Fillet on chive potatoes for him and chicken breast in a wonderful sauce for me. We often visit the Castle for a meal on special occasions and this more than made up for the restrictions on eating out that were in place.

Once again, we had a great meal delivered by the Castle Inn Restaurant. The gourmet burgers are delicious and the portion of chips generous. A great service during the lock down. We will definitely order again! Thank you for supporting the local community by offering delivery.

Great location and amazing food with special friends. Service nice and friendly but a smile from the guy in charge would help hence why a 4 not 5 star review.

Very average service, not very attentive and often had to ask for service, waiter didn’t crack a smile once! Food was okay, starters average, batter too soft on the tempura prawns, bread too hard on the bread and oils, oil and balsamic strangely sweet. Mains - the lasagna was amazing! The pizza wasn’t cooked enough. Desserts - the brownie was really soggy in the middle, now I like a soft brownie but this was ridiculous. Sticky toffee pudding - the sauce was a weird texture - it barely moved and had a hard-ish exterior. Disappointed as we hadn’t been here for years and remembered it being great about 7 years ago but don’t think we’d return. Lovely setting though so shame , if the food had been a bit better then the average service wouldn’t have mattered so much.

13 of us visited on Saturday for a birthday lunch. Wasn't sure what to expect but all I can say is FANTASTIC and can't wait to visit again sometime.Food superb and all arrived together and piping hot. Roaring fire was welcome too on a windy cold day.

I. Booked the castle for a special party for 20 people , the staff were very helpful when discussing menue ,s — a space was set aside for us , in a private part of the inn , The Staff were attentive , without imposeing , and they professionally worked quietly during the course of the evening , we asked for antipasti , a very tasty selection of meats , Salads , all fresh , served with crispy oven baked bread , needless to say , it was enjoyed by. All . Main course was Goulash , served with rice , or pasta , beautifully seasoned , throughly enjoyed by. All my guests !! Well worth a visit , intresting spin on varied dishes , and the chef will cook to your requirements, give it a try !!!!!

back again after a year still nothing has changed food was excellent very fresh no complaints on any of the food ordered. staff were very helpful & polite great value for money will be back again very shortly

Restaurant is clean and accessible. We ate here two nights in a row. We were fishing and staying nearby. On both occasions the staff were polite but not overly welcoming or friendly. Lots of gluten green options. Over the two nights we had chicken Toscana, my friend found this tasty and filling. He especially liked the rosemary roasted potatoes. The previous night he had the Castle burger with all the trimmings, the onion rings were crispy and the chips likewise. On night one I had the Lasagne which was creamy and filling. The side order of bread was forgotten! However we had ordered a side of focaccia with Parmesan which made the side order not missed. Night two I had the rib e6e steak which was cooked to perfection and was a good piece of met. Unlike a previous reviewer they allowed me to substitute the chips for the rosemary roast potatoes. The staff on both nights seem a little disinterested and almost bored. It was very quiet on both occasions, it was mid week but it could seat at least a hundred and there were only 8 to 10 in the house. So atmosphere was a little thin. In fairness we wanted wholesome well cooked food and we certainly got this..... bravo.... when back we will eat here again and again,,

We popped in for a coffee & chat. It was very quiet when we were there. We did not have any food but all the food that we saw being served looked very nice, so may give it a try another day. We found all staff to be very friendly.

We live close by and have considered eating here for some time. Went for lunch just wanting something light. I had grilled halloumi with flat bread and salad. Flat bread turned into very slightly toasted french stick and salad coated in some tasteless oil. My husband had calamari and an extra portion of chips. Frozen calamari and again salad slathered in tasteless oil. Chips nice with a bit of oregano. Had Grainstore Triple B beer very vinegary and disappointing.

On the way to a Land Rover Experience afternoon and called for lunch. We were shown the 2 courses for £11.95 menu but we only wanted a light lunch. This was not a problem to them and the waitress readily told us the prices for a main course. The chicken wrap was freshly cooked, very well presented and delicious. My son chose a pizza which was made from scratch and equally excellent food. All in all an excellent lunch. Well done staff.

We visited last year and the food and service was amazing. Unfortunately we were slightly disappointed this time with the service. My friend explained she had a potato allergy and ordered rice, which was an option. They said they were out of rice and just gave her four tiny slithers of bread and charged her the same amount. I asked if I could swap the salad and bread for garlic focaccia (all three items were on the side menu for the same price so I didn't see the problem as I was still one side down) and I was going to order chips on the side. I was told very abruptly no what is written is what you get, you don't want it you just do without it. So I ordered something else. Food was perfect as before. However drinks took long to arrive and we waited ages at the bar to pay. Shame, could have easily scored higher.

Few days ago I had a chicken wrap from lunch menu and it was absolutely delicious. Costumer service was 10/10 beautiful and peaceful atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Looking for somewhere pleasant to eat on a Sunday, without it being a chain or carvery pub, but not to far away. Passed this place a few times so read the reviews, checked the menu and gave it a go - and glad we did. It was quiet business wise, but received a really friendly welcome, which set the tone for the afternoon. Service was attentive but not over top. We had one mix up where we assumed wrongly, my daughters pasta would not have parmesan on, as she hates cheese, but a quick explanation and chef said he would cook a new one, which, having munched the whole lot, she declared it was the best. Mum in law went for the roast as it was Sunday, had the beef, and it looked lovely, cooked perfectly. She enjoyed it. I had the Toscana, and it was huge, and, having had a lovely calamari starter, I thought I would struggle to finish, but it was so good, I had to eat it all. My wife likes a burger, and she certainly liked this one, with all the trimmings. Both daughters had desserts, sticky toffee and a brownie, and thoroughly enjoyed.

I came here by recommendation and will be back for sure. Great place, great service and excellent food.

Brilliant pizza music bit to loud but everything is a amazing it is the best family bistro I have been to.pizza is the best in Rutland so good I feel like I am back in italy

Returning home after a day a Rutland Water, decided to visit the Castle Inn. Surprised it was virtually empty, thought the restaurant maybe closed, but was greeted very politely and shown to a table, drinks order taken and delivered, we were given plenty of time to decide from a very comprehensive and impressive menu. When the food arrived it was excellent, my wife had the spaghetti carbonara, and I had the chicken coated in parmesan and topped with mozzarella, outstanding presentation and taste, and to finish great tasting coffee. Will be visiting again soon.

As regular visitors to the Castle Inn restaurant as a couple, with family or friends we have always received a warm welcome and excellent service. The Castle offers a great menu which caters for everyone and the meals are excellent.

I was looking forward to visit castle in after my last visit I told family and friends about how fantastic this place Is unfortunately this time wasn't good I am really disappointed especially on mothers day. Slow service and food was Not great .

They had no high chairs, so my sister went home to get hers for the baby. We submitted our menu choices in advance, but we had to wait over an hour for the food. We had to ask for condiments, cutlery, plates to be cleared. Service was poor. Any time we wanted something we had to wander around the pub to find someone. My Sunday lunch was not great. The meat was good, but veg under cooked, as in needed the meat knife to cut it. The roast potatoes tasted like they had been cooked several days before and kept warm. A very bad experience, won't be going back.

Second visit to the castle inn since it was taken over, and it is just amazing, lamb cutlets are a must. Staff are all friendly,polite. Service was excellent again..

First class dining! Came to the Castle for the first time in twenty years this evening for my parent's wedding anniversary celebration and we were not disappointed. Attentive, happy staff, a warm rustic charm decor and absolutely delicious food, made for the perfect evening! Who could ask for more? Loved it and will definitely be back for more. We had a mix of dishes...fillet steak, sea bass, chicken toscada, homemade pizza and all were cooked to perfection. Recommend 100%

What a fabulous evening the service was perfect from the minute we walked through the door attentive but not in your face,the food was superbly presented and tasted as good as it looked.We will definitely be going again.Try it you will not be disappointed.

Booked a table for 5 at 5o'clock for daughter,two grandchildren,granny and aunt Sue.Two of us had pizzas from the pizza oven menu.Wonderful,like ones we had in Sorrento.My daughter had lasagne,a real proper lasagne.One granddaughter chose fish fingers,chips and peas. A treat to see her eat all four fish fingers and whole meal.Other granddaughter loved her spaghetti dish,all of it.The children had ice cream.The service was caring in a quiet way ,excellent.We had a wonderful early evening meal.The restaurant was busy but the ambiance was so calm.Would recommend this restaurant.Splendid Italian food.Excellent value.

We visited on a Sunday evening as food is served all day and most other places stop serving at lunchtime. It was a very pleasant experience. The Pub is welcoming but not pretentious, the prices fair and the food was good. My husband had a pizza and I had a meal and both were really nice.

I was recommended to visit here for the pizza and glad I did. Store baked pizza - lots of great choices.

Had family xmas day lunch here. 13 of us, choices from across the menu. Absolutely brilliant. Couldn’t fault it.

Haven't been here for a few years until lunch today and the food was lovely wish I was going back for dinner. Loads of choice , great prices and friendly staff with a big open fire will definetley be back with the family .

We have been trialling various Sunday Lunch/ Carvery eateries in and around Corby so that we can establish a settled location where we can go regularly where the food is excellent and at a reasonable price ( Value for Money) ... The food in the Castle was very basic, didn't have much taste and falls behind the standards set at the Conservative Club, Corby & the Cricket Club in Gretton - amongst others which are far superior and at a cheaper cost. I felt that £4.80 for a pint of Peroni was on the steep side also. Needless to say we won't be choosing this as our option - I always like to leave a positive, however, the kids food is free when eating with a paying adult and the pizzas they had were decent quality and the kids enjoyed them. Given the kids +ve element I give the overall experience 2 stars and would personally not recommend this restaurant!

Met some friends here on Saturday evening for a meal. Ages since I last visited but still as good as it use to be if not better. Food was out of this world, I had the chicken risotto and creme brûlée which both I would recommend.

We went to The Castle for lunch and were not disappointed. All four of us chose from the lunch menu, £10 for two courses with a choice of either starter or dessert. My three companions opted for mushrooms in stilton sauce for starters and I had the sticky toffee pudding dessert. For the main course two of us had aubergine parmigiana, one had the pork souvlaki and one the chicken souvlaki.

I had lunch with my friend today the staff and service was amazing. The food was fantastic!!! It’s definitely worth a visit and I will be coming back that is for sure.

Went to Castle for a Pizza as it had been a long time since our last visit. The welcome and service was good but unfortunately the food wasn’t, now I remember why we hadn’t been there for a couple of years. Not cooked particularly well and lacked any real flavour, not cheap neither for accompanying drinks. Might give this place a miss in the future.

A good looking Pub inside and out, we were shown to our table quickly and presented with the lunchtime menus. There were plenty of choices, I opted for home made fishcakes.

We stopped here on the way from the Kennel Club International Agility Festival on the way to our hotel. The service was great, the inn nice and the food was excellent. It also arrived very quickly. All 3 of us were happy with our meals, and have already been recommending.

Stopped here after spending a few hours at Rutland Water, it was a great little find! The staff were super friendly and really helpful, the food didn’t disappoint either and was really good, better than I expected! Would definitely stop by again if I was in the area.

Went here a few weeks ago and had the chicken pizza which was delicious and well topped. Also had the bruschetta which was amazing. The restaurant was very empty which lacked atmosphere but the food incredible and well-priced at 2 courses for £10

We decided last minute to have dinner here. We weren’t disappointed. Not only are the staff incredibly friendly, but the food was really lovely too. It’s incredibly good value for money and set in a nice location too. We will definitely be going there again.

I ate here last night with my father and daughter. The quality of the food was excellent, prices were very reasonable considering the high standard, and the staff were very friendly. Love the decor too! Only thing missing on this occasion was some background music...

Great choice of dishes, excellent service, reasonable price, lovely food after struggling for miles to find somewhere to eat on a Sunday afternoon. Enjoyed aubergine parmegiana, calves liver, gammon steak and beef stifado...not quite perfect but close.

Best place in town. Food is amazing and the staff is lovely & friendly.We not had a bad meal yet and kids love the pizza. Lovely atmosphere every time. You guys doing a great job!!! Defenetly we will keep visiting.

Third or fourth time we’ve visited here for a meal in the last couple of months. Always very welcoming staff and good range of food cooked with exceptional care and nicely presented. Nothing is too much trouble.

8 of us visited The Castle Inn on Saturday for lunch. We hadn't booked but there was plenty of room. It's nice inside, and we were sat at the back in the sun room.

Called in at the end of the bank holiday weekend. Pulled into the car park to see people drinking and dining outside which looked great and further evidence that the new chef and his team are turning this restaurant around. I love the fish and chips here, the batter is so light and tasty - much better than a fish and chip shop! Family had steaks, risotto and a sublime home made hamburger - everything was fresh and tasty. No room for pudding! A truly great all round restaurant, great food and service.

Just stopped at the castle for a late lunch on way home. Amazing food, really friendly staff & generous portions. Will def call in again when passing!

Came for an evening meal some time ago and found all our 4 meals tasty and well presented. We did have to chase drinks even though they weren't that busy and one of our food orders wasn't quite right but that was rectified with apologies. Came past today at lunchtime and decided to give it a go during the day. The man at the bar recommended the Souvlaki which neither of us had had before but was delicious. We thought the food was reasonably priced, well presented and the staff friendly. Drinks, as in many eateries, seemed a little expensive. There is such a lot of choice on the menu that we will definitely go back again. The place did seem rather empty for a Sunday lunchtime. Most people I spoke to after our last visit didn't even know the restaurant was there so that could be down to their lack of advertising? Shame really as it seems a good place to eat with a varied menu and plenty of car parking. I do urge you to give it a go.

We have been here a couple of times recently, for lunch and dinner and found it a real gem.

We hadn't been to this restaurant for a few months so tried again twice in the last two weeks.....the menu has changed and it is great both visits. I had the Aubergine Parmigiana which were really tasty my husband had the Trio of bruschetta which were the best we had ever tried (as Italian is our favourite food we have visited many all over the country)and the seabass also really nice. Last week I tried the spaghetti with meatballs .very nice..you will find really lovely food here as there is a new chef and the waiter that looked after us was really nice polite and friendly. We will be back lots of yummy food to try.

We’ve been popping to the Castle over the last 6 months as our daughter attends a local boarding school and the Castle is en route and convenient for a pre drop off family supper. Food has always been good but the last couple of times it has been fantastic with a great new restaurant and it turns out they now have a new chef who is turning things around and raising the quality. The restaurant is normally quiet but on our last two recent visits it has been busy and last night ‘Mother’s Day’ evening was super busy. The front of house team were polite and efficient and the food was truly excellent, the batter on my fish was beautifully light and crisp, fab authentic Greek salad and an amazing risotto. The team were great as my daughter has a nut allergy and they reassured me with menu choices. We thought the Castle was good before but the new chef has really raised the bar and I look forward to seeing the word spread and the Castle continuing to be busy - by the way they play great music too!

Popped in here on the way home for a quick drink as hadn’t been here in years, way before it was done up. For 10.30pm on a Saturday night it was very quiet. Seems to be more of an eating pub . They do have big pizza ovens so I’m guessing these must be good! May go back when in the area for food a little earlier when hopefully busier.

Came here sat night as an early valentine’s. With my hubby. And wow what a great place. Starter we had the Stilton mushrooms. Which were amazing...lamb cutlet where also fantastic. Staff are all very nice. Some meals where expensive but you get what you pay...

Visited with family on Sunday evening.

Creo que falta algún lugar tranquilo para un ambiente de música de fondo, mesas podrían establecer nivel de sal, pimienta y palillos de forma predeterminada. Aparte de eso, me gustó mucho el lugar y me alojaría allí de nuevo.

We`d been for a Sunday afternoon trip out in Rutland, and made a note of the Castle on the way through, and decided to pay a visit on the way back. There`s lots of space in the car park, and an outside dining area affording views of the fields around Rockingham and Gretton. Inside, there is plenty of room to eat, and another more formal dining area away from the bar. Opposite the bar, is a special pizza preparation area and oven, which is why myself and my son decided to order a pizza each. (They offer a takeaway service too). My wife requires a gluten & dairy free diet and explained this to the staff. The lady behind the bar could n`t have been more helpful. The meals were very good, the service fast and friendly, decor and toilets good, menu good and reasonably priced. Only two minor observations, the choice of real ales was slim, and there was an interval of a few minutes between the arrival of my wife`s meal and ours. Just minor things, but I would be happy to visit The Castle again.

We have eaten at the Castle several times in the last 3 months and have had good service every time, we have also tried different dishes on the menu and specials board (a good variety to choose from) every time and found all the food excellent.The Castle is set in pleasant surroundings overlooking countryside. Cant wait to go back.

Such a lovely little pub in a great location. The guy who served us was great and gave good advice on what to order. Seriously good food and big portions for reasonable prices. The best salad I've ever had!

We rolled up at 2pm to an empty restaurant and wow!Seriously the best handmade pizza I've had outside Italy.The staff are very friendly and welcoming and to watch your pizza being made and cooked in the huge oven is a sign on quality and freshness. And the amazing thing is its cheaper than the big pizza chains. Super quality and service.Despite living a hour away we will be back , it's that good.

I have been to the Castle restaurant a few times now. The food is always lovely and the pizzas are great. However we visited the other night to celebrate a birthday and did not have a great experience.We were the only people in the restaurant by the time it came to eating. However our starters took 40 minutes to arrive.Our mains soon followed, well 3 out of 6. They had brought out half the meals before telling us the pizza would be another 5 minutes. 15 minutes later the pizza arrived, when everyone else had finished. I would just expect better service, especially when we are the only people in there.

Nice location and relaxed atmosphere but very understaffed, first drinks order took 15 minutes to arrive and starters took over half hour to arrive even though no cooking was required. However food was tasty and the two waiters(the only two present to serve the whole restaurant) were pleasant. Although we were left with no cutlery for our mains and were left twiddling our thumbs for 5 minutes until I took the initiative to steal some from the table across from us! Didn't fancy eating lasagne with my fingers.There wasn't any communication between the two members staff either, we would have one come to us for the drinks order, then we would have the other one come a minute later asking the same thing.... this was a running trend from drinks order,food order and dessert order .... and then the bill.I would return but not in a hurry. It's a shame because it has a lot of potential.

What a nice place with friendly staff and very good food top marks. Every time we come here it is always good and have never had a bad meal.

The Castle is right on our door step and is a firm favourite! I will never understand how this place is so quiet.Relaxed atmosphere and service- which is lovely as you never feel rushed. I'm yet to have a bad meal - and we have attended as a couple, with friends and large family groups. Consistently good food.What's even better, last time I attended we were told they now offer a takeaway service for their pizzas - I'll be taking advantage of this, they are unbeatable!

Called here today with wife and daughter.Pleasant enough staff left us a menu,and took our drinks order. Wife order ed the cod wrapped in leek with a seafood sauce. Daughter and I had the braised lamb served with baby new potatoes,on a bed of spinach. We all really enjoyed the food,and found it a pleasant experience.

The exterior of the building is inviting with ample car parking. The food was good, however, the service was disappointing.Some meals were brought out early and were going cold before the remaining meals were delivered to the table.There was no follow up by the staff to check if everything was OK or that we were happy with the food or if we required anything further.No value given to our experience from the staff who we felt were unfriendly and rather curt, as such, we did not feel encouraged to stay or return.
