We tend to arrive at the train station earlier so that there will be time for tea and coffee before departure. Nice staff and service, coffee is excellent. I understand they have moved to another location!

- excellent, strong Flat White that was like nothing I've ever tasted before. Perfect temperature too and presented well with latte art too. - not cheap but considering it all feels ethically sourced and transparent, I think it was fair pricing - not many places to sit (not a huge issue but keep in mind) - very friendly staff

I love my coffee … I mean REALLY love coffee and wherever I go I ask for recommendations about where to get a good cup of coffee. Canvas Coffee doesn’t look very inspiring as it’s in the entrance to the Cascades Shopping Centre but it more than makes up for the location with the fabulous coffee. Smooth, well roasted, well prepared and presented and tasted excellent.

My employer offers a subsidised cooked breakfast: cheap sausages, pale insipid eggs, mass produced doughy bread warmed (or burned, if you run it through twice) in a conveyor belt toaster. So I’ve sacked it. I want here instead: a friendly and relaxed cafe inside Portsmouth and Southsea station. Coffee and a fresh croissant with a little pot of a well known brand of healthy margarine cost me a little over £4. Excellent. I sat on the comfy worn leather sofa, watching the world go by.

This is the place to go nowhere fast, yes? This is oasis of piece in a buzzing part of the city. Placed in Southsea Train Station, where lives might go off the tracks, no? If you do not act to do the things you must do. And so you sit, have a good coffee, enjoy the vibrations. The trains arriving and leaving. Where you came back from your journey or just about to embark on it that’s the place to stop. Once you stepped in it feels like someone wrapped you with a comfort blanket. Smiling staff homey feeling, nice food. And be aware: for a short time, too, if you ask for the golden envelope, they will give you a prize. But you must know why. Hurry, now. Before they are all gone.

Finding great coffee has not always been easy in the UK. These roasters are phenomenal. So gladdened to see something other than Costa, etc., that can follow through on quality. Service very friendly. My only disappointment was that some of my train trips out of the station were before the shop opened. But they have to sleep sometime!

I love canvas coffee. In my opinion, it serves the freshest food and the tea is the best you can have outside of your home. The staff are fantastic and there is a wonderful atmosphere. It is a must visit for me during the work week. Popping in there for tea and a vegan sausage roll after grabbing the metro has become a habit which I don’t want to break! What a pleasant surprise. A train station wouldn’t be my first choice to go for a coffee. In fact from years gone by and lots of travel would have been my last choice. But this was close so figured I would give it a try. Great coffee, service was excellent. Only reason not 5 stars is no bathroom. Train station has bathroom but not sure how to access as looks like you need ticket for train. Disclaimer : I don’t believe in negative reviews. If I don’t enjoy my experience I just don’t go back. Life is to short to relive a negative experience by complaining about it. But if it’s great, why not tell as many people as possible to ensure the business continued success!

I had a coffee here on Friday 16th as I waited for my train. prices were not cheap but it looked like a nice place. The coffee was awful and had no taste, it seemed as a former coffee shop owner that either the beans were too old or the amount brewed for the size of the cup was insufficient as it tasted like hot brown water and no depth of coffee at all.

Top notch coffee, and delicious bread/pastries from local suppliers in a convenient location - what more could you want? Oh wait, they are also a social enterprise helping people in need. Canvas has set the benchmark for coffee, so much so that I now commute from one of the two train stations they're based in (Portsmouth & Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour) rather than Fratton, to buy my coffee. Close by there are a couple of the big chain coffee places but if you do not go here instead you will be missing a real treat. In a great location on the station, it is run by really pleasant friendly staff who actually seem to enjoy the job that they are doing and as a result the service is excellent. Now the coffee. I had their house blend called Drake and had a cappuccino one day and a flat white the next, it really made a most stunning coffee with depth of flavour without bitterness or a slightly unpleasant aftertaste that you can get from coffee. I often say that coffee never tastes as good as it smells but now I know that it can. Canvas is a social enterprise which was what attracted me in the first place but its most important attraction is the quality of the coffee and quality of the whole place, great to see a small business doing what it does so well. I also bought a pack of the Drake blend to bring home. When next in Portsmouth I will be here.

Never been met by people in a small business so annoyed to receive custom, tutted and huffed as I entered the shop, yes it was 14:45 and the shop closed at 15:00 but that’s no excuse. I ordered 2 rolls, once the filling was in the roll I stated which salad I would like in each and was told there was no salad left?? No discount offered and to make matters worse when opening the rolls outside the shop the fillings were incorrect. Another customer entered the shop behind me the staff members both rolled their eyes and gave him a dirty look, if you don’t want to be selling products until you close maybe worth advising a cut off time for rolls and food to be made. The filling in the rolls was a good portion and tasted good but wasn’t what I ordered. I won’t be returning
