Though we booked our table a week ago, we were told that we’d have to sit in the bar or lobby due to Christmas events that had been booked. In fairness though, the bar area was nice. The food was a different story though, unfortunately. I have never viewed myself as much of a cook. However, what I rustle up is definitely much tastier than what I got at Callies. My wife’s food was similarly poor. I ordered a pasta dish and from the moment it arrived I realised things were off to a bad start. It looked like supermarket spaghetti chucked in a bowl with a few prawns. The taste matched the presentation. Bland and not very nice. My wife went for fish and chips, which at the price we expected to be of the finer variety. We would have been better going to the chip shop. That way the fish would have been nicer at least. She had a piece presented that had a hard black patch on it which she left on the side of her plate. The pricing in this restaurant would be fair if the food was good. Unfortunately it was not.

I had Chicken Milanese with a runny egg.The egg was hard.I complained.I did not get an apology.No offer to remake either

We booked a 2-night stay at the MacDonald Windsor hotel (the associated hotel for this restaurant). The buffet-style breakfast was passable - it had all the elements of an English breakfast, and was about as good as a buffet can reasonably be. We had afternoon tea included in a package, but with the numerous poor reviews recently, my expectations were not particularly high. We were generally pleased with the overall experience. The service by Alka was highly attentive. The sandwiches were pretty much on-par for all the various teas we had in London. The scones were actually the best we had during this trip - even besting those we had at Fortnum & Mason earlier in the trip. They were fresh, puffy, and warm with a light crumb and gentle browning on the outside. The sweets were a nice collection of various flavors.

We had a lovely lunch on Saturday. The food was lovely I especially enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding. Jaques and his team looked after us extremely well and Alka was so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Great food and a comfortable setting with great service.

When I PRE-ORDERED a 3-course Christmas Lunch for my wife and I, and then it takes 1 hour between when we finished our starters and were served our main...you know there is a problem. Then, waiting another 45 minutes between the starter and the desert. And without any other useful table service - including drink orders. This was all PRE-ORDERED food - there was no need to wait to order anything relating to food. But we were there for a total of three hours for about 30 - 45 minutes worth of eating. The food was adequate - I've had better Sunday Roasts at village pubs. For a Christmas Lunch, with a premium price with the level of service we had? Charley Bingham's and a bunch of grapes served by myself would have provided a much better experience.

Very poor service. No explanation of what was served. We had given 2 months notice that we needed gluten free, and reminded on arrival. Managed to get some GF sandwiches, but not a full selection. GF scones and cake weren’t provided until we asked, then clearly had to wait 20 minutes for them to defrost, came out mostly frozen. Even the non GF cakes were partly frozen. Asked for top up of tea which never came.

As a vegetarian things can be limiting but this takes the biscuit . To start with the place was pretty empty but chaotic . Poor structure or management of any sort visible. We were informed there was no steak no duck and on asking no plant burger . The later was discovered to be in accurate. But I wish I’d never ordered it I had asparagus to start and had to get part of the ingredients taken off as although advertised as (V) prosciutto crisps are not . What did arrive was 4 tiny asparagus tips . A lukewarm poached egg and questionable hollandaise sauce . Truly awful . What followed was an even bigger abomination a ( plant based burger ) circa 1980’s style . Badly cooked and falling apart .for £16 it came with a ramekin of cheap coleslaw and even cheaper tomato ketchup ( yes the stuff made purely of vinegar ) My partner had scallops and black pudding which he said was lukewarm and tiny . For his main he had the burger which he said was bland . We declined desert as I couldn’t sit and watch the catastrophe . The total bill came to over £100 pounds . Please please get your act together . This is really really poor quality food badly prepared . A total overhaul and structuring needs to happen to command the prices you are .

Tepid food worst service ever, visited for 60th birthday celebration, ended up dealing with Maya unfortunately, the food was ok but certainly not worth the money, the server had little or no idea of what was going on let alone 5 star service, problem with voucher bought through hotel website which was refused, better service in Wetherspoons. Won’t be back stay away

We visited here for Afternoon tea today. One of our party had a nut allergy so we were given cakes to accommodate this however the only word to describe them was disgusting. All the cakes were clearly frozen and defrosted with soggy pastry and sour raspberries. The fruit scones had no fruit and were dry and tasteless. We were served luke warm tea with no choice of what flavour we wanted. After complaining we did get half taken off our bill but I still wouldn't say it was the worth the £30 we did pay let alone the £60 it was originally priced at. My recommendation is don't go!

Not worth the £30 each. Shop bought scones, frozen deserts and strangely filled sandwiches. Ham and celeriac anyone or maybe gherkin and cream cheese. Couldn't eat the 'cakes' centre of the éclair looked like sausage meat and the squashed raspberries on what should have been shortbread should definitely be avoided. Very disappointing

Absolutely lovely!! The service was amazing, the supervisor himself made sure I was taken care of. Since I was travelling solo, he offered to take my pictures. He was sharing his travel stories and listening to mine. Thanks Jaques, you are awesome!! The tea, champagne, sandwiches, scones, and the decor was comforting. The service was brilliant! The pastries were a little dry but hey I am not the one to complain about 1 small thing. Overall, will definitely come back on my next travel.

Have used this Brasserie for many years ,think just have changed hands.Very disappointed ,food took 40 minutes even though only 3 tables being used.Food cold and very inferior to previous meals.Will not be repeating the experience.

I’ve been to this hotel before mostly for drinks or lunch, the last two visits have seen service levels deteriorate alarmingly. Our most recent trip ther was Yhursday the start of Jubilee bank holiday. No one behind the bar to serve us so went to reception staff there said they woul get someone, some duly arrived and before I uttered a word tol me he was new and hadn’t a clue what he was doing! He having failed to find any of the required drinks went to fetch someone who could! Drinks obtained we sat back to enjoy on two tables either side of us people were just finishing snacks, sandwiches etc and drinks, they duly left, all the dirty crockery and glasses were removed , but neither table was wiped or disenfected, in the times we live in this is simply not acceptable, there can be no excuse for this lack of basic care. Unsurprisingly we won’t be going back who is a shame as it a lovely interior and decor!

I had a lovely afternoon tea with friends at this hotel. The service was friendly but lacked a little bit of fineness. Food was tasty, but I have had better. I would recommend the place, but I would look elsewhere, too.

Waited two years to take my mum here and it was the worst afternoon tea we have ever had. It was a Christmas gift voucher but If we had to pay £45 each we would have left without paying! Sparse, no love taken in the presentation, cappuccino was just very milky coffee! Sandwiches dry and hard, was then given fresh ones and offered more champagne to say sorry but we’re not drinkers so declined. Tea pot dirty, given tea strainers but there were teabags in the pot! What more can I say, absolute rubbish and a total waste of money!

We have stayed there twice because it is the perfect place to stay in Windsor for us. We always have a glass of wine or two back at the hotel after a night out. The bar had a really good range of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and the service was great. There was a nice, relaxed atmosphere and comfy seats in the bar. The breakfast was lovely and there was a huge amount to choose from. All the staff were smiley and helpful, especially Will who served us.

Travelled with friends at the weekend and was very delighted my the range of drinks on offer! Amertto sour is my absolute favourite not many places offer it or know how to make it probably but I am very pleased to say this one was spot on. Loved they offer the alcohol free gin perfect for mummy to be that was with us. Breakfast was delicious lovely varied range on offer to cater for everyone. Will who served us in the bar and restaurant was very helpful and always had a nice smile. Would definitely come back for dinner and drinks next time in the area.

The quality of the food was excellent, full of flavour and very well presented. Our waiter was very knowledgable and gave some good recommendations from the menu. Definitely one of the best places to eat in Windsor. They also have live music on the weekends which I will go back for.

I had a business dinner here recently and I thought that both the service and the food is the best in Windsor. The manager was very friendly and welcoming. He recommend the duck starter and the salmon mains. Both were amazing. Compliments to the Chef. The service staff were super friendly and made us feel really well looked after. Had an evening meal at the newly launched caleys. The food was absolutely fantastic. The pigeon starter was delicious and the cod and chorizo stew was to die for.

I visited Calleys with friends on a Saturday night and the atmosphere was buzzing. There was a talented saxophonist pleasing life music which created a fantastic atmosphere.

It was date night and we decided to try Calyes and it was great from start to finish. Relaxed and welcoming atmostphere. We had cocktails are the bar before moving into the resturant. The staff where attentive and had good knowlegde of the menu and wines. The food was amazing and very well presented. We both enjoyed our evening and will be back for sure.

Came in with a couple of friends, really quick friendly service from Vessela, great food and knowledgeable staff. We'll definitely be back

We have dined at Caleys a few times and it’s definitely one of our favourites. Great food. Great service and a lovely atmosphere. The staff are friendly and professional and nothing is ever too much trouble.

My wife and I are from America and we dropped into the Brasserie for a quick drink. We found the decor and people to be charming and the staff very helpful. We learned a lot about the local area and the recent royal wedding! We ended up staying for dinner which was not planned, but the team was so accommodating - they found us a great table on a busy evening and the food was 'tip top' as the English say. This was a great find, and we highly recommend stopping by as we did.

We recently visited Caleys for my Partners birthday after a recommendation from a friend about their new menu. The food was outstanding, I opted for the Pigeon and then the Wild Cod and both were outstanding. They recognised that is was my partners birthday and arranged a birthday plate, even the General Manager sang her Happy birthday which was a great touch. All in all 10 out of 10.

Lovely restaurant very attentive staff without being over familiar.The food was a delight ,beautiful scallops nicely caramelised and cooked to perfection. For main course we both had the duck nicely pink served with a delicious sauce. No room for a sweet so we finished with coffee.

Hay un elegante salón para relajarse antes o después de cenar junto a la chimenea en cómodos sofás. Definitivamente lo recomendaría para parejas, cenas con amigos o simplemente una bebida.

We ordered 3 afternoon teas, one per person, which came with a wide choice of tea or coffee and an amazing selection of sandwiches and cakes. In addition there were freshly baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam which were amongst the best scones I've ever tasted. The portions were very generous but we were given a cake box to take home what we couldn't eat. I couldn’t recommend afternoon here more highly. Wonderful ambience and the staff were very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Traído a la media por un desayuno buffet sólido, no excelente, para el que se ofrece una opción de comida caliente. De lo contrario, no me llames para discutir platos individuales en el menú de la cena. Nuestra compañía de viajes nos relegó a cuatro cenas aquí, todas mediocres. No use el método de bandaides para tratar de mejorar este plato o eso. Comenzar de nuevo.

The restaurant is more like an lounge place than a real restaurant. It provides a good selection of food but not a rich choice. However, the taste is ok. Breakfast is good to very good. Be aware if you want scrambled eggs be prepared to wait 10-15 min to get it. Once arrived, you'll find it very tasty though...

Such a beautiful place & feels so cosy but horrendously cold staff with terrible customer service skills & hardly anything available from the menu at only 1pm on a Sunday. Shocking. Such a shame. I won’t be returning.

As a Windsor resident, I have been visiting the restaurant since it opened. Generally it has always been a very enjoyable experience. Something was terribly wrong yesterday. we arrived at 12.30 for Sunday lunch and we were seated at a nice table. We waited, waited and waited a bit more and eventually we ordered. We then sat there again for a further 20 minutes and some finger bowls arrived, a further ten minutes and our starters, ribs, were delivered or rather “plonked” on the table. Nothing special, but edible, then another long wait.

My friend, who I haven't seen for 7 years, was visiting from Canada so I really wanted to treat her to a traditional English Afternoon Tea. The hotel itself is beautiful and a true definition of class. Right at the start we felt very comfortable and at ease.

Oh cielos qué ha ocurrido a este restaurante? ! Fue sólo hace unos años me dieron una evaluación de 5 estrellas. Ha sido ir cuesta abajo para el último año o así y ayer se demostró que es ahora en la parte inferior de la colina! ! No comer allí de nuevo. Pedí el pollo kiev, que llegó con patatas delgado en lugar de la mano patatas fritas filete anuncian. El maíz en la mazorca tiernos media fue sustituida con los callos que bebé hecha y empapado en agua no comestible. Prácticamente no había mantequilla de ajo en el pollo. Mi lado de repollo savoy y tocino era literalmente que sin nata o mantequilla. Totalmente sosa y sin sabor. Mi mujer pidió una opción vegetariana y 10 minutos más tarde me dijeron que no estaba disponible. Ella pidió un vino rosado a 10 libras un vaso que estaba caliente. Quizás me han dado hasta ahora Marco Pierre White se ha movido en un par de puertas. Tengo que decir que el personal es excelente y muy atento, pero esto fue horrible, más comida a precios razonables. Nunca más, que le llevará a conseguir algunos haciendo conmigo como un habitual.

Muy normal, no puedo decir mucho de positivo. El desayuno estaba lleno, lleno, no hay mucha variedad. Artículos de buffet con frecuencia vacía.

Visitamos aquí un almuerzo familiar. Una vez sentados pedimos algo de pan. . . . Tuvimos que pedir 4 veces antes de que finalmente lo puso a través de la hasta las camareras eran mucho - a contar chismes entre sí. ocupado Cuando el pan llega había 3 pequeñas piezas. . . Cuesta 4 libras y. no es suficiente para los 4! El suegro ordenados fuente fish que cuesta £19 y era bastante patética cuando llegó y no era suficiente para constituir una comida principal.

Carley's Lounge es una bonita zona cómoda en Mcdonalds Hotel Windsor. Hay una acogedora chimenea y sofás cómodas y bonitas sillas. El personal es muy acogedor y servicial. Pedimos té de la tarde y pronto una amplia selección de bocadillos variados, bollos caliente delicada con mermelada y nata y una variedad de pasteles llegaron junto con una taza de té o café caliente si querías. La camarera se aseguró de que tenía todo lo que queríamos y ofrecieron más de té y café. Pasamos un tiempo agradable allí y fue agradable volver en algún lugar cálido y acogedor, el clima de invierno.

Bar muy agradable hotel con una buena selección de bebidas. El servicio era bueno, hasta que muy concurrido y luego reducido un poco, pero en general fue agradable.

As a solo business traveler, I appreciated being able to sit at the bar, have a sandwich and a glass of wine and a bit of light chatter from the bartender, thank you. The carrot soup was perfect; fantastic sourdough bread and a butternut squash/quinoa mix over spinach. Very healthy and yummy. I did come back for dinner for the grilled chicken sandwich; was a bit bland, so next time will ask for some additional toppings (cheese/bacon, etc.) to jazz it up a bit.

The meal was alright,but not what we expected.Service quite good.Food was alright,but 'nothing to write home about.' the waiter was friendly,but forgetful.The atmosphere is quite nice.

We spent the weekend in Windsor and during the day called and booked dinner on Saturday evening.On arrival the dining area was busy but not full and we were escorted to our table which, was centrally located and very comfortable. The waiting staff were very attentive and asked for our pre dinner drinks, which unfortunately they made a mistake with, but the ordering process then ran smoothly and efficient. The food and wine was very good, our steaks were cooked almost perfectly to our request and the service throughout was fairly good, other than one waiter who did appear a bit lost. Resonably priced, central location and lovely surroundings. Will definitely be back and will stay there next time.

Previous 2 meals here very good, this time quite poor. Wish we'd gone to Gogos which we had originally reserved- ribs are much much better there. Forgot part of my starter and part of my main course. Had to chase staff a lot. Will not rush back.

Visited the restaurant with friends on Saturday. The food was delicious although I thought, as did my husband, over seasoned with salt on the chips. The ambiance was very cosy. Generally the prices were fairly reasonable with the exception of the mark up on wines. I just don't understand £35 for a bottle of prosecco!

We had dinner here one night. I ordered a cesar salad and my friend the chicken side. The staff was very helpful and easy to chat with. They discouraged my first choice and suggested the salad that was delicious. The chicken was crispy outside and moist inside.

All staff are welcoming, attentive and knowledgable which makes for a relaxed atmosphere in which food can be enjoyed. The menu is limited (mainly steak) but the dishes are beautifully presented and cooked. Portion size is generous; good value for money. Service is excellent. Because the restaurant is within the hotel, it is diffiocult to find it from the street - better signage woud help. However, this does not detract from a wonderful experience.

Lots of comfortable seating either at/near the bar or on sofas by the open fireplaces (very welcome in chilly weather). A really nice place to relax for drinks in the evening or coffee during the day.

Carey's is a steakhouse concept and does pretty well at it. The restaurant itself is nicely laid out and staff are attentive. Steaks are good, my sirloin was cooked to perfect medium rare and the wine list is reasonable and varied. If you are a Windsor resident and have an Advantage card, you also get 20% off. Worth a visit.

We went here after a lovely day touring Windsor Castle, it's literally just across the road from the Castle entrance.Nicely furnished, modern New England kind of feel, with nice comfortable dining chairs, almost like a modern tub chair. - so important to be comfortable when dining.We went for a chicken & ham hock terrine, and wasabi tempura squid rings, both very tasty. (Served on wooden planchettes, I'd prefer a plate, but that's a very minor thing).The mains were a rib eye and a fillet steak, both cooked to perfection, very tasty and tender. There is a good selection of steaks (it's a specialty steak restaurant) yet also has a fish of the day and other dishes if you want something a little lighter.Nice desserts, with a 'build your own sundae' option which was fun.We had a lovely Cabernet Sauvignon and that too was lovely, deep rich, full bodied with a supple tanin.We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the waiter was lovely, and I would definitely recommend this to family and friends.

Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. We had lunch here on our first day. Quick service. Had sandwiches which where tasty and huge. The barman was very professional and friendly even gave our son some Chips as he knew he was sharing with us. Only down point was the butter, didn't like the taste. Very clean and comfy restaurant. Nice prosecco

Enjoyed an excellent meal here. From start to finish the service was friendly and informative with a good balance of professionalism and approachability. The food was very good, not massive but by no means small portions. My steak was cooked perfectly and even if you are not a big steak lover it is worth trying one here. The menu even tells you all you need to know about the different steaks a available.

Had a valentines special meal here on the Sunday. Very nice, good food, excellent service and great ambience

We had unlimited tea and coffee all day long. Great to rest and relax after a long walk around the city.

Ate here while staying at the Macdonald Windsor. Went with the chef's recommendation of the rump steak and it just melted in your mouth. The whole evening was incredible, the service, the food, the ambience, it was just perfection. Highly recommended as a restaurant, the only thing that let's it down are the over the top prices on drinks - both alcoholic and non!

WOW - what a wonderful restaurant. Everything is just perfect. Great decor; Great lighting; Great Atmosphere; Great Welcome; Fantastic Food and Wonderful Staff. This was our first time and as we live 2 minutes away, we used to walk past but never thought to try it out. We are sorry we waited so long to eat here. From start to finish it was a wonderful experience. Great steaks; great wine list and fantastic service. Our Server, Idem, is an asset to your company - great services without the usual intrusiveness; never pushy; great suggestions and always with a big smile on his face. The lady who was the m'aitre 'd was lovely, gave us a lovely table as it was a special occasion and was again helpful but not intrusive. There is a great choice on the menu without it being too big. Everything we had was delicious, top quality and the added touches for my partners birthday was a lovely touch. We eat out at the usual chains that are endemic to Windsor, and had got into a habit but now that we have eaten here we will definitely be going back for drinks and also for dinner with friends and family as we were so impressed. Very good price too, especially if you are a local Advantage card holder - don't forget to bring it and show it!!! Thanks for a wonderful evening.

This is a great place to have very nice food & a quite chat or bussines meeting. The staff are always helpful.

Great ambience as always. Only called in for drinks. Décor lovely. Far better to call here than the normal coffee chains.

Caleys restaurant is at the rear of the Macdonald's Hotel on the site of one of a once very popular department store of the same name. The food is tasty and from quite a varied menu. Service is good - staff atttentive. Pleasant venue.

Once you find the entrance to the hotel (MacDonald chain....and not the clown variety), you enter a modern, but warming lobby and bar areaWe could've spent all night at the bar, it was that comfortableWe were a large group for a business dinner and so had the private dining roomThat was perfect for us and made the ambience all the more specialEveryone enjoyed the food and any minor mix ups were resolved swiftly by the top service that the staff provided that eveningMy only criticism was the medium rare steaks were more of the medium than the rare - but we enjoyed them neverthelessI would return

Stayed at the hotel so used this lounge for two breakfasts and one inclusive cream tea. The cream tea was very good, but was masses, best bit was the signature Caleys Mess. Good breakfast selection and service on first morning. Second morning staff took ages to take order (had to ask and then wait again for order to be taken), slow service, haddock was good, but scrambled eggs and mushrooms on another dish totally unseasoned. Don't understand the greasy potato scone. A couple of staff OK, but generally the others were absent, speaking to each other in a language other than English, tables not cleared, attentiveness to customers even with very few customers very low. Standards not good enough for this price category and the quality of the hotel, and would collapse completely if there were actually half a room of customers. The waiting and kitchen staff generally let the experience of this hotel down, and they lack any obvious management or leadership. One man's pot of coffee arrived after he left, and the staff huddle in a small open room between the restaurant and kitchen to chat not in English and not attending to their actual duties.

Hello. My wife and I are Windsor residents and have eaten at Caley's many times since it opened. We have also brought friends who have enjoyed it very much. We love the ambience and have loved the food...up until recently.Now when we look at the menu we find it hard to get excited as it is predominantly steak based with just a token few other dishes and to us that does not constitute a varied menu for all tastes.We used to love the Scampi dish but this has been taken off along with the Mixed Grill. Both of these were reasons for us to come to Caley's. More recently we had been enjoying a portion of onion rings as a starter but were amazed to find that these also no longer appear on the menu. A steak restaurant without onion rings?All in all we are very disappointed with the recent menu changes and no longer feel that we can properly enjoy a meal at Caley's with the current food choices. This is unfortunate because, as previously mentioned, ambience-wise it has always been a favourite with us. We would only choose Caley's again if the menu becomes a little more like its former self with more variety than it currently has and the return of some old favourites.
