Stumbled upon this place while hunting for a breakfast place in Town Centre.. tucked away from the busyness , beside ‘the tank’ itself, this place dint disappoint! Had a relaxed breakfast by the window and the sun shining through. Loved their hospitality. Would luv to come back!

Best breakfast in Ashford! By far! Lady that runs it is lovely and nice to chat to. Food was cooked perfectly and with high quality ingredients. The lady gave helpful advice when my partner lost her phone also :) Looking forward to returning

Walked in a lady who was clearing a table greeted me, and said morning do you know what you want to order ? Or would you like a menu? I took a menu and was advised what I'd picked was good if I wanted toast as an add on it was actually a little bit cheaper!! I went with that I had a lovely fried breakfast and cuppa. Got chatting to a chap who'd been having breakfast there for over 20 years! All the staff were friendly and helpful. Which was better than the last café not far away and better value. Thank you!

Really good value breakfast but poor quality sausages used but everything was hot and really did get plenty for the £8 would go back again and suffer the sausage with loads of brown sauce lol

I had an omelette here before & it was really nice. However the other day I ordered a fry up and it was kind of all just thrown on a plate. The tomato juice from the plum tomatoes was swimming amongst the beans, the sausage was uncooked, the bacon was like it had been microwaved for a few minutes. To top it off it left me with a horrible stomach ache. Maybe drain the tomato’s as there is enough inside the tomato, cook the meat properly and buy bigger plates to accommodate the amount of food. Oh and my yolks because of how they were piled up had already burst and added to the sea of tomato/ bean juice. Lovely service though.

Ordered from here this morning for breakfast and I have never seen such a mess thrown into a box the fact they looked like they had been swung round a few times in a bag I asked for bacon not to be over cooked but didn't expect it to turn up almost still alive. My partner ordered and extra sausage and never got it both breakfasts missing mushrooms neither portion of chips had salt vinegar or mayonnaise on as requested. Everything and I mean everything was engulfed in beans. We have never ever had such a poorly put together breakfast. Needless to say it all went straight in the bin and unfortunately will be the last time we order from here.

The workers were lovely, great food and good prices. Love going here when I'm in town.

Lovely staff and a lovely breakfast.

Visited for breakfast and from the beginning the waitress greeted us with a smile and throughout our visit was really friendly and made our time in the Cafe really enjoyable. The food was just as good and plenty of it. 100% will be back and recommending to friends.

Amongst their usual Cafe options like all day breakfast, they have Menzies pie, mash and liquor. Very nice it was too.

I am sure by the the tank serves up some lovely food I’m sure that the the service is second to none and goes without saying spotlessly clean unfortunately having read on this site that they open from seven my work colleagues and I decided to go to the cafe before we started work knowing once we started the job it had to be done we got to by the tank 0715 waited to 0720 still closed not a soul about so left if you say 7 mean 7 yours hungry an annoyed

If you just want a coffee or you need feeding this is the place, quaint little cafe warm friendly staff (The owner recognised me after 13 years!!) It’s great food that won’t break the bank, don’t pass by!

I rang the cafe after the food being out for deleivery for 50 minutes and they said it's nothing to do with them as they don't know the drivers..well that's rather worrying. The baguette was stone cold by then and not only that its hardly cooked at all. I currently have the baguette cooking in the oven, such poor service I won't be using again.

Great meals, great prices, social distancing done well and lovely staff. Well worth visiting.

5 star service all the way, soon as you enter and when you leave. A group of lovely and friendly ladies, always friendly and chatty, which I do enjoy when I visit them. Would def recommend this cafe :)

The people who run this place are amazing. So kind, caring, helpful and the food is of top quality and served in a reasonable time. This is by far my favourite place to eat. Highly recommend.

I had an all-day breakfast which was well- cooked and tasty, although maybe fresh tomatoes should be offered. The staff are friendly and the coffee very nice. The menu is clear and the prices competitive.

Really nice food. Only downside is there is no toilet,and is a slight walk to the public ones.

A lovely, if small cafe tucked away close to the tank. The staff are polite and the food well cooked. I have had a variety of meals there this year and all have been well presented. There are photograpghs of many if the meals available adorning the walls. The coffees are the frothy types and the prices are competitive.

I called in today for lunch and opted for a baked potato and cheese with salad. The meal was cooked and presented well and the coffee was frothy and tasty. The price was competitive too.

The staff here are absolutely lovely . Nothing is too much trouble , they even heated up a chocolate muffin for my daughter in the microwave . Good value , traditional cafe food and the coffee is good . I like sitting outside in the summer next to the tank . A nice quiet corner of Ashford town centre .

This small cafe next to the tank has a wide variety of meals available, a book-style menu and photos of many of the meals on one wall near the counter. The prices are reasonable too.I plumped for one of all day breakfasts and the meal was cooked from fresh and covered the plate and tasted pleasant.

Situated slightly off the main drag next to a Tank so you really can’t miss it! Not the most spacious or comfortable cafe in town but could be the best value. Food was freshly cooked and less than a fiver so what’s not to like.

I have visited this café many times and always receive a warm welcome, they are very accommodating especially when you have a buggy, always willing to move the tables around so you can fit in. I have had many dishes here and the food is always cooked nicely and arrives very promptly. Great value and range of dishes, definitely recommend.

Me and my friend decided to have a bit of lunch here, we both had the jacket potato and was asked if we would like salad with it. The staff are friendly at all times, I would take my nan here next time for a bit of lunch.

This is a very small humble cafe but they make up for it with good portions of straightforward honest food. Wonderful friendly staff and good hot freshly cooked food, Recommend the Manager Special breakfast with bubble and squeak as an extra.

No pretensions here, this is a caff. Simple, unpretentious and cheap. This is what cafes used to be like before the invention of preprepared, chilled meals that are so beloved by the vast chains. It really is popular with locals and you can get whatever you want. The simple menu is very flexible. Of course a full English fried breakfast is high on the agenda but if you just want a cup of ordinary, good tea, with a toasted sandwich, at a price that won't take your breath away, the Tank is the place to head for. Top of the high street, plenty of outside seating.

For More years than I care to remember I have been eating at The Works Café in the old railway works and in recent years had introduced me cycling friends to it for a good place to fuel up before a bike ride. Imagine our dismay when we turned up this week to find that it was permanently closed due to the development of the site. So where do you get a good hearty breakfast in Ashford. Heading for the High Street we sought the advice of a Highway Environmental Hygienist (a road sweeper) who recommended By The Tank Cafe.

We went into the cafe for lunch. We ordered sandwiches and baguettes with drinks. The service was good as was the food. There is lots of variety and something for everyone. It is very clean and comfortable with friendly staff.

While Ashford has fewer redeeming qualities for leisure and social places/activities when compared to it's more illustrious neighbours that I have lived in or used regularly, such as Canterbury and Maidstone, one thing it does knock spots off them with is the number of good quality cafes/greasy spoons. Compared to other towns in Kent, Ashford is blessed with excellent cafes, and this is one of them. Can't fault this café, and in other towns it would score 5 stars, but such is the bar raised by a few cafes in Ashford I have to rate it as very good. For breakfasts it doesn't quite have the range of different set options as some cafes, but there's enough choice for all but the fussiest of clientele. What was served was well cooked and tasty, and the staff are very friendly and efficient. There is a lot of variety for non-breakfast meals, and I'd certainly drop in and try their traditional pie and mash for example. Value for money here is excellent, and while a small number of cafes score higher for their cooked breakfast (for things like top quality sausages, thick cut bread, more set options/make your own), they are more expensive. I definitely recommend this lovely little café and will use again.

Located next to the tank at the north end of the town, this café is a good addition to the town's eateries. I have always found the staff polite and the range of food impressive and reasonably priced and there are plenty of photographs of the different menus on a wall-display next to the counter. Mention should be made of the coffee which is always frothy and excellent.
