Loved the pub absolutely gorgeous and staff were lovely and welcoming. I’ve marked it down as the beer choices were limited and disappointed . The food was also overpriced and not great Such a shame

Couldn't fault the food, excellent lamb rump and "proper" steak and kidney pudding. Large starters (sweet chilli chicken) so no room for dessert unfortunately. Jovial landlord so a good evening had by all. We'll be back!

We were fortunate enough to stumble across this exceptional country pub. We were welcomed by the landlord and patrons and sat by the fire. Sunday roast was faultless and you can have up to 4 choices of meat/veggie options on one plate. Also there were complementary sanitary products in the toilets!

Hi all, I was passing by and hungry. I requested a sandwich. The filling was generous and the side of tortilla chips and side was salad was a lovely touch and fresh and presentable. The atmosphere was great and service was warm and welcoming. I will definitely go back again, The white horse at Bilsington is highly recommended by me as I'm usually fussy.

Fourth time at the White Horse and the Food and Service seems to get better and better each time we visit. Cannot fault the Portion sizes, the quality of the food, the staff. It seems amazing that you can get such quality in a Small Village Pub. We have had a lovely time here with our varied size of friends and family that we have visited here with. I randomly came across this pub during my cycling trip and I have to say that I have a truly great experience there. They accepted to cook a fish and chips even though the kitchen had closed. Food was delicious and everyone was very kind! I very much recommend this pub and hope that i'll have the opportunity to go back! Thanks again to the White Horse team for such a nice moment!

Visited the pub whilst staying in the area. Bustling but not over busy on a Tuesday evening. Staff friendly and helpful. There was no long delay on food arrival. The steak and ale pie was really nice, and the slice of pie was massive. The only slight negative was the smokers who stood be the doors (front and rear), meaning their smoke wafts into the pub. We still enjoyed our meal, though, and would recommend a visit.

Popped in for lunch on Thursday, had no idea as have not looked at previous reviews. Staff were very friendly and attentive, food and drinks spot on. This is a pub that does food and may it continue to be like this. All in all a pleasant experience. Thanks

Nice little pub with great food. I had the steak and stilton pie which was very nice, would definitely recommend. Can get quite busy so call ahead. On the slightly more expensive side but not unreasonably so, as it is high quality food.

Lovely 15th century pub serving pub grub. After ordering our meal we were given the dirty cutlery in a wet paper napkin. Two glasses of wine were ordered, they arrived in dirty glasses. The food was average. On visiting the ladies toilet it was found to be filthy. Mostly certainly wouldn't recommend.

A popular and busy pub with great atmosphere, excellent service, and top food. I had ribeye steak and it was perfect. Great crust, exactly medium rare and melted like butter in my mouth. The service was excellent from all, but in particular Lucy, who dealt with the most of our table.

Every time we have been here the food, service, and atmosphere has been great. Even when we have had a very early dinner the staff chat to you and you don’t feel you’re eating at the library. I recommend this pub restaurant. We will be back and we will take people with us. Reliable and consistently good. Thanks to all the team.

Value for money in character alone. The food and service was excellent too. And a good selection of wines, lagers, and ales. The White Horse supplied a cosy conclusion to a wonderful walk in the King's Wood in Chilham.

We were recommended this pub by our taxi driver and what an excellent recommendation! If you are in the South east of England, you need to stop here. It dates back to the 15th century and the owner kept as much of the original decor as he could. It's absolutely gorgeous inside and you feel like you are time traveling back to that era. They serve local brews including several from Canterbury Ales which are quite good. And the food was excellent! I had the bacon and brie baguette which was easily the best food I had my entire trip to England. My dad had a burger which he said was on of the best he ever had. Plus they have a pub dog who is very friendly and begs for food lol.

BEST SUNDAT ROAST IN KENT! I came here with friends and family for a Sunday roast, and this couldn't have been a more perfect experience. Very atmosphere, which made me feel very nostalgic to how pubs used to be - full of character (and no boring grey walls), with loads of books, antiques, local memorabilia, board games and a live folk band, providing the perfect backdrop. The menu was a proper traditional menu, and food done exceptionally well. I generally don't like going out for Sunday Roasts (as the portions and quality are never better than my own) but this pub far surpassed my expectations and was delicious and large portions! There was a beautiful huge inglenook fireplace for those colder days, as well as a lovely secure garden out the back, so on this particular warmer day, my children could run around. A very friendly pub dog kept my kids happy too. Staff were very friendly and attentive too. Right next to a lovely church and grounds, meant the kids could again have a little play near the premises. My 88 year old dad was very happy with the food portions and atmosphere - so all in all a great family experience - and usually difficult to please the whole family. So will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend! What a gem in a beautiful historic village.

We eat regularly at The White Horse & would highly recommend it to everyone. Jayson and the staff are always extremely accommodating, pleasant and helpful. It's a clean, well maintained family orientated pub and they serve the most amazing food. The chef is fabulous. First class every time.

A fabulous Easter lunch. This place never lets us down with quality of their food and the superbly attentive staff. It’s a real gem of a pub. Lovely beer garden for summer too with local bands playing if the weather permits.

After a long journey to Dover castle and Canterbury we had a relaxing and enjoyable dinner at White Horse Chilham. The atmosphere is very cosy and quirky, the fire place is so nice, Colt the mighty dog just added to whole cosines. We had delicious calamari starter and Fish and chips. Paul and Jess were friendly and very welcoming.

Great food, roast Sunday lunch also the steak and ale pie were perfect in every way we will certainly be returning to this wonderful pub even if it’s just for a beer. But the food is spot on

A nice, small and cosy pub. This typical drinks and pub food but not loud and busy and actually has some character to it then the usual pubs I come across.

Visited on New Year's Eve lunchtime with a large party. Staff were great, very helpful and attentive. I had the steak and ale pie with mash and veg and it was banging! Highly recommend.

Decided to pop to here for some grub tonight. We was not dissapointed the food was lovely great portions. The burger I couldn't finish as was so big, the meat in the steak pie was melt in the mouth. Very friendly place staff very helpful with Individual needs. We will be back to try the Sunday roast. A little gem we'll worth the stop even for just a pint.

Incredibly cosy pub, particularly now it's winter and the large fireplace has a fire going! The pub feels almost a step out of time and place, a getaway from the rush of the everyday. The food was delicious; we had the roast, a burger, and the Christmas salmon, and a selection of puddings which were excellent. This is our second visit and we will certainly be back again!

We had our works Christmas meal here. What a wonderful experience!! The pub is beautifully decorated, very Christmassy. The staff were amazing, friendly and clearly happy in their work. Service was perfect, no waiting for drinks. Making sure everything was good for us. I have never had such attentive, friendly and caring service. This place is definitely worth visiting, you won't be disappointed. If I could have given more stars I would! Well done to everyone, and thank you for a lovely evening.

Lovely pub, great choices, massive portions.

Went last night for a surprise 50th birthday ( mine ) We got to dine in a 'private 'area away from the main restaurant which had been decorated and looked fabulous and festive. Food and service was great and a huge thank you to Sarah for being a great hostess and the singing 😀 + also putting up with my father , we don't take him out much and next time he will pot wash for you 🤣

You should see the Xmas decorations!!! Wow!!! Totally ott but in the best possible way! We sat by the (real) fire and topped it up with wood at will, so best place in the pub. Excellent as I have to be WARM to enjoy my food. We had a great Xmassy time, thank you.

Had the best meal I've had in years at The White Horse last week. Went with Mum on her 91st birthday. They put a happy birthday banner up which she appreciated. The staff were all very friendly and the Christmas decorations were up early and added to the atmosphere. Service was great. Food was first class. Will definitely go back very soon.

I truly & completely fell in love with this pub from the moment I stepped out of our car..then when I walked in it was amazing with massive log fire..food was fabulous..I had steak pudding with mash.

Great service, a lovely variety of superb food sensibly priced without nonsense service charges added

On arrival we thought it was a lovely pub with a good atmosphere. We had a table booked for 6 of us for lunch. We had to get the attention of the staff to place our food order after we had been waiting quite some time. There was then a problem with one of the orders so we had to wait longer. When the food finally arrived it was obvious that it had been kept warm. The presentation of the food was not great. The pie had been put on top of the few vegetables and mashed potato to the side. The mashed potato was awful really but I did eat it as I was hungry. The food is very expensive and I don't think I would choose the same if we returned. On another issue, I would say that it is not disabled friendly. Access from the car park into the pub is not great due to steps and uneven ground. Within the pub the tables are too close together or close to walls and you can barely move. There's no disabled toilet either.

Food is very tasty 😋 Service very friendly This is a very popular place so probably best to book even for lunch. My only negative, and it's not really a negative, is the tables are close together, but this is a good indicator of their popularity. We will be back 👍👍

Dirty fries are to die for. Nice beer garden, free water for walkers and cyclists, service a tad slow which could do with a bit of customer focus but not bad by any means. Worth a visit. Next visit was on a Sunday. Roast was ok, but soft potatoes and only 2 slices of meat, cauliflower was undercooked as was the broccoli. Presentation was good but overall let down by average service and food. The cheesecake was ok, quite heavy with a soft base. But ok. £57 for 2 people.

What a lovely place, we were camping at the priory and eas advised to try the white horse for food. Fantastic advice, food was hot and tasty, and the sharing trifle was to die for. The bar man/waiter was so nice a real asset to the pub. I would highly recommend.

As a local business owner myself I was really happy with the meals we received. Presentation was great, it was all fresh and it tasted delicious. The team did really well. Will definitely be back

Myself and the wife fancied a bit of lunch and took a drive to this lovely pub, we was welcomed straight away, was a lovely sunny afternoon so decided to sit in the garden that has plenty of seating. We both had a ploughman's lunch which was great value with plenty of selection, will definitely be returning to try more of the menu and enjoy this great pub.

Lunched here, as I hiked along the North Downs Way. It's a 15th-century inn, which makes it quite modern for this ancient, picturesque village. Plenty of visitors around, so there was always a danger the pub might be in the wannabe gastro or rip-off category. But no: they served me a superb fish and chips lunch at pub-food price. It came up hot, meaning it was freshly cooked. Chips were big, soft, and potatoey. Fish had a smooth batter and was shaped like a flipper. Very rich and tasty. The pub had a Saturday lunchtime buzz--staff busy, with heads down. Essential stop for hikers.

A beautiful classic pub !! Visited the white horse for lunch and drinks, was given a lovely warm welcome by the staff. The food was incredible, especially the filthy fries loaded with Brie and bacon. Even got to meet the pub dog colt. Will definitely be returning. Amazing experience

First of all… Delicious, the food was lovely; brilliantly portioned and presented wonderfully. A very pretty building made very homely by decorations and ornaments. Staff were very attentive catering for my specific needs perfectly, I would 100% recommend this little village pub
