Happened upon the pub on a drive out, so stopped for a drink and lunch. I had the pie of the day, which was steak and ale, my partner had the pork in a cream sauce. Both meals were excellent. They came piping hot and huge portions, lots of lovely veg. Would definitely recommend and go again.

My daughter took me here for a belated birthday lunch treat. What a lovely place this is it is steeped in history. The staff were welcoming we were seated by the log burner as it was a chilly day it was most welcomed. We ordered drinks then my daughter ordered Pan fried King Prawns with chorizo on toasted sour dough with chilli and red onion tomato sauce she said it was delicious. I ordered the Fish cakes with fresh tartare sauce and fries which was also delicious. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere here and they are dog friendly too and my daughter’s dog was given a biscuit which was most welcomed by him. I would recommend.

What a wonderful country pub! I booked last minute on bank holiday and I was not disappointed. We had a 3 course meal, banoffee pie to die for! Plenty of choice on the kids menu. The service was quick and efficient and nothing was too much for them. I would highly recommend stopping here with its beautiful surroundings. I will definitely be back. Just want to say a special thank you to Joe & Ruby who looked after us!

Great location but that’s where it ends. Beer choice is ok, wine very expensive as they are charging restaurant prices, it’s a pub not a restaurant. As for the food, good choice but and a big but to charge almost £20 for 4 small pieces of chicken on a skewer as a main meal is a rip off. When raised with the fast talking non stop talking “head waiter” he was grateful for the feedback and offered a 10% discount on the chicken dish(!) sometimes it’s best to listen rather than keep talking! The chicken dish had fries and a garnish btw. Does this drive me to go back for a meal definitely not as the couple sitting not far from us had the same experience. It’s not about how much profit you make it’s about getting repeat custom if this is the premise from which Botley Farm operates sorry Neil but this is not in my opinion a good stance to take. As an aside I review hospitality meals and packages across a wide range of venues worldwide so have a very good benchmark to work from.

Sh!tty smelling pub with a Sh!tty attitude to customers! Talk about delusions of grandeur! Called in for a quick drink tonight as the sun for once was shining and it had been about 3 years since my last disappointing visit and I hoped things might have changed ? But I give the place 10/10 for consistency in it’s terrible attitude towards customers. Ordered two pints and apparently the local brewed dry cider was organic ! Well it tastes like the local farmer has peed into a pint glass after drinking a decent pint of cider somewhere else! I could forgive that purely because of a matter of taste and each to their own eh? But the attitude of the manager/owner whatever he is? Is down right disgusting! Firstly you’re greeted with signs in the beer garden that forbid smoking in the beer garden which I resentfully accept but please at least provide a shelter or at the very least a place to dispose of your cigarettes butt in the car park and not on the floor which was full of debris already ! But the clincher was when I was entered the building to use the toilets and was looked up and down as if I was excrement on a shoe by the owner/manager! Which was totally ironic as all the time we sat in the beer garden enjoying the view , we were treated to the smell of raw sewage which permeated the air constantly and was awful ! So in a nut shell if you fancy going to a place that somehow thinks it’s the Ivy and will treat it’s paying customers like sh!t! Then this is the place to be ! Such a shame as I’ve used the pub for over 20 years and put my last visit down to a bad day but this has convinced me that I wasn’t wrong this time or the last visit ! Certainly won’t recommend this pub to anyone unless they like a sh!tty smelling pub with even more sh!tty attitude to paying customers!

I was travelling back with a friend from Purley and we stopped off at Botley Hill The Sheep Shed Tearoom. Quite a cute place actually but apart from our friendly waiter it was really terrible . We ordered the sausage bacon and egg bap….. when it arrived we could tell straight away that the sausage was precooked and not at all warm….. the egg was okay but the bacon had done a disappearing act🤔…. There was none….. the side garnish was old and limp too. I ate half but couldn’t be bothered to endure a cold and dry bap. We were so very disappointed . It really bugs me that something so simple couldn’t be accomplished and my money wasted. You need to up your game.

Been to his pub a few times, and it never disappoints. It’s a beautiful place to come in the summer and it’s got great outdoor seating overlooking pretty much on the sport view with no smoking signs everywhere (fab!). Inside is really nice and quite cool in the summer. However, in the winter it’s absolutely freezing and the piddly little heaters they have do not keep you warm at all so beware and wrap up well. It’s quite cosy and oldie woldy feeling and therefore the wheelchair access is not that good but there is a ramp access on the right hand side to get into the actual pub. You’re quite limited to where you can sit if you are wheelchair user. As for the food, it’s generally very good and I’ve not had a bad meal here and the desserts are always spot-on with plenty of GF options. The teas and coffees are very good here too. Prices aren’t cheap, but they’re not overly expensive either lunch for two of us including dessert (no drinks) £80 including service. You need to book here as it’s always pretty much fully booked and there’s plenty of parking outside.

We came here on Christmas Eve for a family lunch. Let me get the positives out there first. The food, the ambience and the service were all good. But there's a but. For me the quality of beer and how it is served it important to the pub experience and I'm afraid to report that all the beer we had was terrible and four of us, out of six, drank some. To many people this is not important, I admit, but to me the quality of a pub's beer is paramount We should have sent it back. It was flat and in poor condition. To make things worse, all you can get are the brews that they brew on-site (I believe) so getting an alternative to the Titsey beers they sell was not possible. What pub doesn't sell Guinness?! This one. Maybe this isn't a beer drinkers' pub, it's more 'gastro' than that but, based on my experience, I think this establishment really needs to up its game in this respect. I can accept a pint that it well served but is not to my taste, but not one that has clearly not been properly looked after and served in poor condition.

We have been coming here for several years so I thought it worth mentioning that the good standard of food and service has been maintained. And yet again, my 2023 award for the best chips within 20 miles of Belvedere goes to Botley. Crispness maintained even when cooling, fluffy inside. A small “but”. Waiting staff, please stop uttering the inane “perfect,” for my choice of dish. And don’t question my decision not to pay service charge. (It was the first time it has happened here, I should add.) It’s out of principle I don’t pay. And it’s not mentioned on the menu.

If you have a mix heritage family do not attend this place!! This is the second time I have experience what can only be the describe as blatent racism which seems to a very common theme at the Botley Hill Farmhouse. My 6 year daughter was verbally abused and repeatedly shouted at on xmas day by a customer and her husband for watching a santa video on my phone whilst waiting for our Christmas Dinner!! My daughter was in floods of tears on Christmas day because of these ignorant, disgraceful, uneducated racist people. Grown adults have no right to shout, make racist comments nor make any physical contact with other peoples children but it seems like the Botley think this behaviour from their customers is acceptable. We are absolutely disgraced at the way this matter was dealt with and how despite seeing what was going on staff appeared to think this was acceptable. Racism has no place in society and your pub is not exempt. The attitudes in this place toward mixed heritage families is like something out of the 1800s. To top it off food was tasteless normally the food is okay here but not today. It was not worth anywhere near the price of £120 a head. Unless you want your family to be discriminated against by the local drunks and for staff to stand by and think this is okay avoid this place.

I've stopped at the Tea shop for a quick break to warm myself up. This was a second attempt, as previously thecage was not offering any cakes catering to special dietary requirements. The staff was somehow abrupt and asked me what I would like to order as soon as I've stepped in, so I had to ask what is on the offer and then again for some time to look at pastries. The staff was practically blocking my way to the seating area, which felt awkward. The shed itself is a small, but quite lovely space, with a couple of tables and nice decor. Unfortunately the coffee turned out to be truly awful. It is a lovely place in a very picturesque spot in the countryside - it's a pity the customer service and the food are not better, as it could be a go-to break spot all year round.

Upon entering, I immediately felt at ease. The interior is warm and cozy with original oak beams that transport you to a time gone by. The stone floors covered by rustic rugs, heavy wooden tables and hearty open fires immediately create a comforting and relaxed ambiance. Soft murmur of conversation is the only sound to be heard which adds to the calmness of the natural setting.   A traditional, gastronomic menu left me spoilt for choice. The lamb shank was a masterpiece of flavours. Succulent, soft meat that literally fell off the bone was served with a rich, velvety gravy which left me feeling content. A medley of Moroccan spiced vegetables and chickpeas was the perfect accompaniment to the tender lamb. Alongside this, a generous portion of creamy mashed potatoes completed the plate. The textures and flavours worked together perfectly.  The pudding was truly the star of the show. A generous square of freshly baked brownie, a perfect balance of a crisp exterior and the soft, fudgy centre was a masterpeice in itself. The crinkled surface glistened with a thick fudge sauce, cascading over the brownie as if it were liquid silk.    Within the first bite, my tastebuds were transported to euphoria. The warm brownie melted in my mouth, the rich sauce adding a level of extra warmth. Then, the handmade vanilla ice cream. A cool, fresh pale contrast to the warm, dark gooey brownie, with visible specs of vanilla.
The overall experience exceeded my expectations as The Botley Hill is not just a pub but a delightful culinary experience. This pub is ideal for families, couples or even single diners and is dog friendly. The Inn is perfect for every season, with indoor and outdoor dining where you are surrounded by panoramic views across the North Downs. I will definetly return to try other dishes on the menu and relive this experience again.

This review is for the Shepherd’s Hut not the pub. We have been coming here for years. Good fresh food when working properly.. Since the South African lady Helen left things have gone downhill. The staff are very young and the service is just not there. They do not even have a chef that can cope with cooking up a fry up hence the menu is now limited to breakfast baps. On Sunday we suffered an unfortunate incident where a dangerous dog eating with owners and two other yapping dogs went for our son when he slipped off his stool. Had words with ignorant entitled dog owner. No sign of staff. All very upsetting. Moral. Don’t let dogs especially large dangerous ones in your cafe. If you do expect to lose custom.

Booking, service very good but let down by overheated, overcooked and frankly tasteless main course. The soup of the day was good but could have been better if it was served at a lower temperature. Does not need to be boiling. Both main courses (...

A fabulous Sunday lunch at Botley. The Prawn and Chorizo starter was very tasty and the Roast Beef main delicious. The beef was pink and the copious vegetables were fresh and cooked al dente. The service was extremely efficient and friendly. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Great service, great Sunday Roast and staff really friendly and attentive. The bar had a fab variety of real ales and wines. Dining area was spacious I noticed the black board had details of upcoming events such as Sea Shanty evenings. Car park too which was really handy for our small children and walking distance for my mum. Will be returning.

Visited here after a lovely day out and this just topped it off. Such friendly staff and couldn’t do enough for us….which also included a smiley face on my coffee for a laugh! My daughter was over the moon that they had her favorite meal and gave it a strong 10/10. Was just a fab place to go after a great day out. We’ll be back. Thank you!
