Food was warm and very watery. I have already complained - really not happy

app said food had been delivered and it hadn't, was 30 minutes past expected time. food was good when it finally arrived but looooong wait

My madras was very peppery and not very tasty. The dansak was far too sweet. Been eating curries for years and was disappointed with food.

Found via Tripadvisor when looking for a quick curry before catching a ferry. Delicious food, great service (thank you Sunny) and good value. Will definitely return.

The Blue Cobra always deliver excellent curries !

Food was cold. Had to warm it all up in the microwave before I could eat it. Very unusual to have poor food from here. Very disappointed.

We always use the cobra, but tonight it was disgusting, curry was stone cold, my husband phoned them to be told we will sort it next time you are in! Whole curry was binned. Terrible service!!!

This restaurant is a gem stuck in an unlikely place ofNorth end, the food was great and the staff we very helpful and friendly

haven't ordered from here in a while so was a little worried if the food was still as good . I shouldn't of been as it was still as good as it's always been very tasty as you get loads

Have used the Blue Cobra as a restraunt and take away. Food is superb and great service. Price is very reasonable and the Garlic Chilli Chickens is a winner. You must try 👍

Enjoyed a lovely meal at The Blue Cobra on Halloween. Nothing scary at all :) The staff were all wonderful - mindful and attentive - especially Badal. They were careful to sit guests discreetly around the restaurant so that we could all enjoy our own chat and company - I really appreciated this. The ambience was spot on - low lighting and music at just the right level. There was a wide choice on the menu, and the drinks selection was varied. The food was great and plentiful, and we had enough to take home for another evening. Our bill was accompanied by complimentary liqueurs. This was our second visit in as many months, and we will definitely be back. Thank you.

We've just had an exceptional meal here. Badel recommend to have an onion rice to go with the lamb dish .. complemented each other well . Will be back again for sure

Wonderful Sunday night out for my dad's dinner. Service was amazing, friendly and fast. Badal was a great host! Really attentive and welcoming. Food was amazing, tandoori kind prawn was spectacular and it was the best peswari naan I had had in a long time. Everything was pipping hot and super tasty. Very enjoyable evening. Would highly recommend!

Solid curry house, serving traditional and BIR curry's. The service is second to none and friendly, you wouldn't want for anything here. Super naan.

Haven’t been able to visit for a while and it was a great experience on our return. Service was excellent (thanks Badal) and the food great too.

Came here for date night with my boyfriend we ordered the hot and spicy tandoori chicken wings poppadoms onions bhajis lemon rice pilau rice tikka masala and chicken tikka kori and nann The wings smelt vile but I thought maybe it's just a spice but they didn't taste great, the tikka masala stated sweet and although not a spicy dish had no spice at all and the chicken tikka kori zero spice if it was served to me randomly I would never of known it was a curry, the nann was perfectly round and tasted shop bought. The bill was nearly £60 Once we got home my boyfriend ended up in the toilet. I feel I've wasted my money very disappointed.

I enjoyed my meal very much and the restaurant decoration was amazing, plus the staff couldn’t do enough for me. I will be going to Portsmouth again in May 2025 and this is a must visit which I highly recommend. Steve C - Weymouth Dorset

Excellent food as always However, one thing that let it down this time was clearing the tables whilst people in the group were still eating, and they were quite rude when asked if they could wait a few minutes

Visited on Saturday evening with my wife, Gabrielle, and her brother Daniel who is older than she (does he still feel the pain?). We were greeted cordially by three waiters and made to feel welcome straight away. I had the duck tikka. The portion was good and it was served on a sizzling platter with fried onions. The others had chicken tikka masala and a prawn korma. The portions were such that they could not finish their meals and had a take-away. We all had large bottles of Indian beer. Throughout the meal the waiters were very attentive and checked we were happy. All in all a very pleasurable experience.

It was my partners birthday and I wanted to treat him to his favourite cuisine. We chose Blue Cobra as it had good reviews and was very close to our hotel. What a happy choice ! I had the duck starter my partner the lamb chops - both were delicious. I chose the mixed balti - lamb,chicken and prawn and my partner the Lamb Naga - which he pronounced outstanding- and this is a man who knows his curries ! The service was really good with friendly,polite staff, the very nice gentleman who took our order suggested some amendments to our choice of rice. It's just a pity we live 200 miles away - or maybe not for our waistlines! We shall visit Portsmouth next year hopefully and will most definitely be visiting again

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ always avery warm welcome. The food is really good. They look after you so well - our server Badal is an absolute diamond, nothing is too much trouble. Husband had Badal’s recommendation and very much enjoyed it. They look after our teenagers too!!

Came for a meal with my social club - overcrowded, not enough chairs, food late and delivered in a bizarre order with items missing, my lamb was leathery, others complained of greasy food. There are other, better restaurants in this area. They also only have a hygiene rating of 3 which is pretty abysmal.

Misti Kodu in particular was excellent

The duck curry was half cooked and awfully tasted, even the aloo gobi has no taste at all. Looks like due to last minute order they cooked it carelessly and I wasted my money to a restaurant which is literally down the road from my house. Very disappointed.

Always made welcome, always the night before l catch the ferry. Badal especially and the team are excellent hosts and the food is hot, fresh and tasty. Thank you again.

I’ve been ordering from Blue Cobra (Takeaway, 1/2 times a week) for about 9 months since moving to Southsea. They have always delivered excellent food (best Ch Tk Dhansak I’ve had; thick sauce, full of lentils, rich and spicy (requested vindaloo hot). Very reasonable prices (order through their website), friendly staff and always get a poppadum or two on the house. Never eaten in, but I know they’d welcome me and it would be fantastic. Thanks!

Genuinely one of the most flavoursome South Asian meals I have ever had, Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Zhal Naga and Lemon rice....Wow, Phenomenal!!!!!

I came here with my partner for my birthday,we can not fault any part of it,clean,staff were friendly especially Badal who kept checking all was OK alongside the other staff.The food was amazing in every way,it was a first for my partner,he's sold on returning.We took half of it home as full up,It was boxed up in front of we with care.Badal also gave me a baileys shot to say happy birthday after which was a lovely touch.We ate last night Sunday 25th so quiet but we enjoyed that.Highly recommended 👌

Lamb was tough and fatty, some pieces of chicken over cooked. Madras sauce was watery, special fried rice tasted like packeted rice. Usually food is excellent and my favourite curry takeaway. This time was poor and would not risk using again.

Husband loved his usual chicken tikka masala and I tried a new dish vegetable garlic chilli as love hot and spicy dishes. Was really tasty.

Korma was way too spicy 🌶️🌶️🤔. Never had an issue before as it's normally rich sweet & creamy but it had more of a kick than the chicken Bhuna we ordered 🌶️. Not sure what went wrong this time 🙁

Potato’s rice and onion bajis where cold

The food was lovely can’t have no doubt bout it and the staff where really friendly but there was homeless who came up to our table and eyeing up my food then walked out the restaurant when questioned by staff but I walked outside for a vape and the homeless man was talking a poo outside the restaurant when I went to tell the staff none did clean it up but I don’t blame for that but they need to do something bout this as this not ok and I don’t want to be seeing this

Food was cold. Rice cold, curry Luke warm. Naan was soggy and cold. Chips were soggy but only hot part of the meal.

I’ve ordered from blue cobra many of time and been to the restaurant and never had a bad dish ever but the last this last one was completely different, keema rice and naan bread lovely but the korma was bland and very funny colour and just no flavour, it tasted like milk, my wife had to throw it in bin it was that bad and it’s the only dish she ever orders. The poppadoms were all stale and we had to bin them too. It’s a shame because this is completely unusual

We are from the West Indies and we love Indian food. This time we were extremely disappointed. The worst Indian food ever. The parathas were like bad pancakes and the chicken tikka massala was more or less like tomatoe soup with a few lost pieces of chicken. Very, very sad...

I ordered a Chicken Tikka Korma, which has a smooth creamy yellow sauce, but the one I had tonight had an orange sauce, more like a tikka masala, the sauce was very sweet and lumpy due amount of coconut. A korma it wasn’t

Really tasty meal and delivered early!

Tandoori chicken masala was lovely. Korma was a little disappointing not up to its normal standard, the chicken was small bits like shredded into the sauce which made it not smooth 🤔 but the flavour was spot on so not sure what happened this time.

Very disappointed. I've ordered from Blue Cobra on a number of occasions but i was really disappointed that tonight one of my dishes had only 3 pieces of chicken in it. I don't expect to pay 7.95 for a pot of sauce and such a small amount of meat. If you are going to cut corners, you will lose customers..

Was missing a full chicken dansak curry

It wasn't as good as it normally is, Chicken tikka masala was very runny (watery) and not as flavoursome 🤔, and our naan bread was a chipatti which they have offered a free naan on my next order 👍

Rice was stall and onion bhaji was over cook burnt

I waited 2 hours for a delivery, one came which ultimately was cold, then after several phone calls a replacement arrived 2.5 hours after the initial order had been placed. Very stressful affair.

As always, a fantastic meal and a great delivery time.

I have had curries multiple times and foods been great but had a madras chicken and the sauce was like water not happy thinking of trying somewhere different

Usually my go to restaurant.. But will never order again! Absolutely awful.. Lamb overcooked and the curry and rice were just swimming in oil and salt.. Was really forward to my meal but ended up in the bin 😡

Lovely food but check prices as spent 5quid on a pint of coke there. I understand inflation but wow. 4 cokes for 20quid. Come on. Margin on that is just greedy. Especially with all the ice.

Normally, I would give 5 stars, but the Tikka biriani and curry was not good! Curry sauce watery with too much cauliflower and the tikka biriani was tasteless. Chicken was tender though. Not your usual standard ☹️. Did not enjoy it. The chicken madras was lovely though.

A sneaky curry pre boarding the ferry. (Just around the corner from the terminal) We explained we were on a tight schedule when we arrived. Service for excellent- prompt and friendly. Food was delicious- really fresh and tasty. Highly recommended.

My youngest (10) first experience of eating it with Indian food. From moment of arrival, to leaving service eas perfect. Quick, observant and meaningful. Food was amazing. The lamb was cooked perfectly! Sauces tasty. All round, total enjoyment. Thank you

We went early on a Friday evening. We got there just before 6 and there were already quite a few people there. By 7 o'clock the place was packed. A good sign. The "Lubbly Jubbly" waiter from The Bombay Express has moved there. He recognized us after 5 years which was a nice touch. The place is nicely decorated and the table linen is crisp and white. The service is excellent, quick and attentive. The food was lovely (apart from slightly soggy papadoms). I had a duck curry and Gabrielle, my wife, had prawn korma. We both enjoyed our meals. The portions were generous. Not cheap at £57 but it represented good value. We will return it and recommend it to everyone.
