We came here with friends for lunch. The service was shocking, our waiter kept on disappearing & forgetting about us. When our lunch arrived, we were shocked at how tiny the portion was. For £18 I’d expect a reasonable meal to fill me up. Overall, very disappointed by the experience and won’t be coming back

Recently visited for the first time and will definitely be returning! Really nice pub with cosy and clean interior. Great selection of food and all really tasty! Staff were very friendly and accommodating, huge shout out to Casey… she is a superstar!

The service and food were very good. Great beer selection too, all in a welcoming cosy pub overlooking the village green and pond. Will definitely return and go to see some of the live acts they have playing there soon.

I booked on line for a table for 2 and in the comments I stated that we had a dog and had mobility problems I didn’t use my wheelchair but both mum and I were on sticks when we arrived. The hostess greeted us I told her we’d booked she led us into the bar area and said we could sit anywhere, I moved towards some tales but she said I couldn’t sit there, the only other tables I could see were high tops I said we couldn’t sit there so she gestured to some tables up 3 or 4 steps at the back of the restaurant, I said that I didn’t think this was very accessible and I was glad I hadn’t come in the wheelchair as I wouldn’t have been able to sit anywhere. She said you could sit down here and I said I couldn’t have sat a a high top, I said I was disappointed that no one had reached out to let me know the bar wasn’t very accessible,at this point she pointed to another table in an alcove and said this is the table we reserved for you so I said but you didn’t show us to that one and when I asked you still didn’t point it out . She shrugged and said we reserve a table but then we like to give you a choice! This was a bizarre and very unhelpful interaction but we went to the reserved table and started to sit down Mum is 95 and I only have one working leg she watched us and then said as you’re in the bar you need to come to the bar to order and get your drinks I explained that this would be difficult for us but she insisted that it was the pubs policy and she couldn’t make any exceptions because it wouldn’t be fair and if she did it for us she’d have to do it for everyone. I was very shocked that she showed no compassion and was not prepared to help us. The people on the next table offered to do our order and get our drinks from the bar. However I did struggle up to the bar when it was quiet and I wouldn’t have to stand for long. I ordered our food and explained to the young lady that I would struggle to carry the drinks back she immediately offered to bring them to the table and then said if you found it hard to come to the bar we could have given you a tablet!!! The first member of staff definitely needs some extra training it really put a damper on our outing and I doubt we’ll ever come back . Our food was fine but I couldn’t recommend a visit here

It takes something really bad for me to write a negative review (as can be seen by my usual 4 or 5 star reviews)- but today is the second time we have received terrible service at The White Hart. Some months ago my wife and a friend had been out for a walk around Godstone and decided to visit The White Hart around 12.30 pm for a coffee and a light lunch. On arrival they were told, quite brusquely, that the coffee machine was out of order and they were not serving any hot food, just crisps etc. it was basically take it or leave it. What kind of good country pub can’t serve food to customers? In the end they gave up and left. They were upset at the awful service but decided not to complain or raise a negative review. Today however, was a second truly awful experience. Three of us decided we’d give The White Hart a second chance. We live in the village and always like to support our local businesses. So three of us arrived at the White Hart at 1.30pm. It was not at all busy and we waited by the ‘wait to be seated’ notice. And we waited, and we waited. There was a young lady who clearly saw us, but turned her back to us and was using the coffee machine. She definitely saw us but just ignored us completely. After 5 minutes I went to her and asked if we could please have some service to be seated. She wasn’t rude, but had no regard to any kind of customer service, simply said ‘oh that’s me to do that’ and turned her back on us and continued making coffee. This was really poor and upset us so I told her we did not appreciate the lack of service and would go to the Bell down the road. She simply said ‘sorry and ok then.’ She wasn’t in the slightest bothered. No attempt at all to help us or find us a table (we only saw one other table occupied). So we walked down the road to the Bell, which was really busy, where we received an immediate friendly reception, were immediately shown to a table , and had excellent service with excellent food. It was very easy to see why The Bell was full and The White Hart was virtually empty. The difference in welcomes and service was huge and it’s clear where we will be going in future. We feel it’s a shame because we live within a five minutes walk of The White Hart and go out for lunch or dinner regularly, but having had awful service and been let down on two separate occasions now, we will give our patronage to a local business who actually make customers feel welcome.

Came for Sunday Lunch was greeted immediately and brought to our table . Our server Lucie was polite and quick ! She was friendly and remembered all our extras we asked for Her timing was amazing with apps and mains and drinks . Food was hot and delicious can’t go wrong with the Trio Roast .also white bait was fresh and crispy Would highly recommended a visit !

We had not booked. We were told about an upcoming quiz in an hour. This was not an issue. The table we were first shown to didn't allow a proper conversation so we asked to move, which was not an issue. Drinks were offered almost right away and when they were served we ordered from a well managed menu, plenty of vegan options. Excellent food and atmosphere. Very pleasant server, Lucie.

Visited the White Hart at the weekend with friends, what a great surprise when we arrived, they were holding a Christmas Market in the pubs car park, festive stalls, carol singing and mulled wine, we had lunch in the pub which was great, the service was on point and the atmosphere was very festive, will definitely visit again and would highly recommend.

Popped here for an impromptu Friday family lunch - 2 x fish & chips and 1 x chicken skewer with flatbread. The food was amazing and we will definitely be coming back. Our waitress, Olivia, was very friendly and welcoming and was a pleasure to meet - a great asset to the White Heart team.

We had a code for 30% off of mains so decided to give it a try. It was lovely and warm inside on a cold day, and it has a nice atmosphere. The girl that served us was very good. We both had the rib eye which was nice and tender, and the fries were tasty. We shared the salted caramel sundae which was nice, but a little small for £8 plus ! I would go again, hopefully with another offer.

I just been to the white hart Goldstone. Have a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. At £13. 25 , normally you pay a large glass in the area from £8 - £10.. we had fish and chips £ 17.50 nothing special. My glass was terrible dirty I have ask the attendant to change it. The tartan sauce was old with a metallic taste to it. I mentioned to the attendant this issues and in instance of taking it on board , he thought I was trying to reduce the bill. My idea was constructed complaint. I won't be going there again.

Fell into the common trap of menu was a 9, execution of food was a 5. Also, we ate in the courtyard and it stank of drains. FOH staff were great and friendly, but food suggested kitchen did not have any passion or love for putting out food.

Nicely decorated, clean bar/dining area with tables also available in courtyard patio area. Only one person serving, answering phone and doing all the "customer relations". The breakfast menu had several choices on offer so I selected smashed avocado with sun ripe tomatoes on toast. My first mouthful of avocado surprised me as there was a strong chilli taste in what was effectively guacamole. The waitress did ask if we had any allergies and I'd answered "no" as the menu had not indicated "chilli" in the ingredients. A little chilli is fine however, if I'd been aware chilli was included, I would not have chosen this option. On paying the bill, I did make the waitress aware of this omission. Otherwise, breakfast was delicious.

When for Mother’s Day with my family there were 22 of us and it was flawless. The food was amazing especially the roast. The pub was warm and cosy and we all loved the bunch of daffodils .

I last came in August23 and had the most terrible time but due to convenience of the venue my son booked a table here. I was a bit worried what it would be like but was very pleasantly surprised. Staff seemed very willing and attentive. Apologised for the wait for main meal which was appreciated. A very better ambience generally. Meals were well presented and hot, although my sea bass did seem to be missing some vegetables as only peas in the bowl and no mange tout etc. One recommendation is it would be appreciated if the sauce could come as as a side jug rather than smothered over the fish as I think it spoilt the flavour of the sea bass. Customers can then chose how much to add on for their own taste. Felt pricing was about right for food on menu.

It was OK, the level of service wasn't great. Our table was comfy chairs rather than a more formal table and chairs, we were eating after all. The introductory offer of 30% off mains wasn't possible as we ordered starters enough for six apparently but for just the two of us. She seemed far more interested in the quiz night, no check backs. Maybe look elsewhere next time?

I have been to White Hart twice in the last month, once for lunch and once for dinner, and both times the food and service has been great. Staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious.

Waited nearly an hour for our food, no apology. No horseradish given so asked 3 times for them to bring it. Green veg was horribly over cooked so asked for a replacement. Was brought swiftly but same grey peas etc. in all very average and it’s put me off coming back

The place looks OK from the outside, but looks can be deceiving. Drinks - more expensive than most places. Food - we had a couple of very average pizza's, very little topping and overcooked. We sat a few tables away from the ladies toilets - a vile smell of raw sewage emanating - blockage somewhere maybe? Staff friendly, but short handed, hence service very slow. The only saving grace was the live music.

Wow!!! We stumbled across this place on a random visit to Godstone and so glad we did! We loved it! Came for lunch on 14 Feb 2024 .. was very quiet which is a shame, especially with it being Valentine’s Day but didn’t bother us! Venue itself and decor is beautiful with lovely little touches such as candles in the toilets… Food … we were so impressed!!! Completely tasted home cooked and fresh!! We had the chicken strips and cauliflower to start.. 10/10, definitely the best chicken strips I’ve had! Chicken was cooked wonderfully. Husband loved the cauliflower too! Fish and chips for main and you could just tell that this was freshly made.. for dessert, lemon tart and the caramel tart and again, marvellous! Washed down with a bottle of Chenin blanc which was their house wine and it was very very nice! Bill came to £100 with the service charge which we thought was a really good price for the standard of food! Quite rare to go to restaurants nowadays and have such good quality food and really enjoy each course!! Only negatives (if I was being really picky) is that it could be a tad bit warmer and that it’s not on our doorstep to visit more regularly haha but we shall definitely be back! Not the first time we’ve been here. Very welcoming atmosphere, helpful waitress. Service prompt but no feeling of being rushed. Our starters were both excellent. My husband’s mixed grill was also excellent, though the portion was so large it defeated him. Allergies mean I always eat vegan when our; I’m used to limited options but was really disappointed in the plant based burger, listed as vegan. The chef, knowing of the diary allergy, had left off the vegan cheese (which, of course, is not dairy) with the result I had a very dry burger. I did ask why it was missing and some cheese was supplied but 2 cold slices did nothing to help the dryness. It always worries me when a chef or maitre d’ makes this sort of mistake as I worry whether they actually understand what they need to do

Hosted my Grandad’s 90th Birthday here a few weeks ago in the Stables private room in the garden - the weather was glorious and the service fit to match! Eddie and Lorna were incredibly helpful when arranging the buffet and the room hire and the food was fantastic- apparently it’s a new buffet menu and we were the first to try it and it’s definitely worth it! All the waitresses and bar staff were also very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much hassle. Would definitely recommend!
