The Bears Paw has been a family favourite for a few years now and today was no exception. We visited to celebrate a birthday. We were warmly welcomed by Kieran, who really looked after us throughout our visit. The food is always delicious, beautifully prepared and a great choice to choose from either a set menu, main menu or specials board. Today we had duck spring rolls and cod goujons for starters and lasagne for mains (which came with a lovely mixed salad and garlic bread), all very reasonably priced. We travel for nearly an hour to dine at this Inn but it is always well worth it. We look forward to seeing you all on Mother's Day for another celebration! Many thanks

As part of our project to find the best pubs in North Cheshire, we called in the Bear's Paw last week, and what an excellent surprise ! Food was superb - I had the lamb Henry which was the best I have ever had, and my wife had the breaded pork which was delicious. Staff were very friendly, and menu prices were very respectable, especially when you consider that all the food was freshly cooked. Compared to all of the local chain pubs, where the chefs are a bunch of kids who serve food straight from the freezer to the microwave, this place is a revelation. Beer was also perfect, and before we left, we booked again !!

We were travelling up to Liverpool in our motor home with our Border Collie. We were able to park in the wide lay by opposite the pub, where there is a public footpath to walk the dog. We enjoyed a couple of pints in the cosy bar where Monty was given a bowl of water and lots of cuddles. We then had a lovely meal in the restaurant (no dogs), decent portions of well cooked food. I have been here twice within a few days. The white painted Inn sits on the main A50 road between Knutsford and Warrington, so easy to get to with a roomy car park. The little garden is beautifully kept and the building with the look of an old farmhouse is attractive, although its large signs look out of keeping and have no apostrophe! The interior has been refurbished in tones of grey with comfy seating. It is very small inside with tables tightly close together, (I believe plans to extend have been turned down repeatedly which is ridiculous) but the acoustics are extremely good, so you can hear your group speak, but can’t hear other people. I have enjoyed the food and the lunch special menu is good value. We had to order in advance for a large group (I hate that!) so it was nice on the second visit to have free range. I would describe the food as very wholesome and think the Starters particularly good, but sorbet at £5.75 we all thought exorbitant, the main content being water. Service was ok. I will go again. It’s nice.

I went to the Bears Paw for lunch with family and friends. It was my first time there but all the others had been before and spoke very highly of it. They all enjoyed their lunches and the fish and chips proved very popular. The problem for me is that I am vegetarian and although it was advertised and 'vegetarian friendly' there was very little choice. I could have a risotto with walnuts and peaches (which really didn't appeal to me- peaches and rice being a very strange combination) or baked potato with beans and cheese. I went for the baked potato and I was transported back to the bad old days of 1970's vegetarian options- soggy potato with baked beans and almost non-existent cheese. Would it have been too hard for the chef to be a bit more imaginative? There are any number of pasta dishes or Indian dishes which can be made in advance for the unexpected vegetarian diner. While I appreciate that my requirements may be annoying for chefs (Gordon Ramsey is always complaining about veggies) I was left with the impression that it would really be better if I had stayed away.

Everyone said there food was lovely, tender meat and nicely cooked vegetables. For anyone not wanting a roast dinner there was an extensive a la carte menu and specials. Drove out for tea at the Bears Paw & was not disappointed. Soon as we arrived we were sat at our table, great choice on the menu. Decided on the pie which was delicious & a good size portion. Very friendly staff. I will return.

we visited the Bears Paw for Sunday lunch having not been for a while. The food was amazing, very tasty with decent portions (huge yorkshire puddings are always a great sight). The staff were friendly and the service was attentive without being intrusive.

I drive past this pub / restaurant a lot and the car park is always busy. Finally got round to 4 of us going for dinner on Bank Holiday Monday. I only called at 5pm and they fit us in at 5.30pm.There's lovely outside space where you can enjoy the surroundings and have a drink.Inside it's mostly dining space.Decor is very traditional and quaint - very cosy. Tables quite close together so much would have been nice otherwise it feels a bit like you're eating with strangers.Very large menu with option for everyone. Plus extensive specials board. Prices very fair. Our starters were all tasty - my deep fried goats cheese (£5) was delicious! They bring some bread for the table which was nice. Main courses we had 2 substantial fish and chips, the pie special (£9) and the lamb special (£13). Everything was delicious and all plates scraped clean! Staff welcoming, loads of parking, well located and easy to find, very good prices.

As usual, we had a fantastic lunch. Its often very busy on a Friday, so it is best to book ahead. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food always freshly prepared and different - you are never stuck for choice as there is something to suit all tastes and appetites! The quality of the food is second to none and it is not expensive.

Last night 4 of us had a really good meal and some excellent beer on a very busy evening even though we had to wait about 50 mins for our food from ordering. However, nobody came at anytime to ask if everything was satisfactory. Towards 10pm at least two of the staff were intent on clearing everything from the tables and setting up for Sunday's meals. The expressions on their faces were grim and unfriendly as they busied themselves. We had a distinct feeling we were not wanted even though it is supposed to be a pub open til 11pm! I asked for the bill and was presented with a till type one which was just dropped onto the table without any comment. If you were wondering why no tip was paid then I suggest you attend to the manners of your staff and try to be more welcoming and pleasant...it doesn't cost anything you know!

We popped into today for lunch without reservation, and they were fantastic at accommodating my mum / brother 4 children and I - despite being very busy This place is a little gem, and really is a delightful Country Inn, with great atmosphere, wonderful home cooked food and charming staff who couldn't have been any better. We look forward to seeing you again in the future ! Thanks again - the Loudon Family

We had a good experience here with a party of nine people. The menu is quite extensive with plenty of choice. The staff are friendly and helpful and the pricing is good. There is a beer garden and an enclosed (small) field where the kids played football. Service feels a bit slow but the food looks freshly cooked and was worth waiting for. A definite recommend for a family meal.

We first experienced this restaurant when we recognised the names of Melanie and Jason on a business card picked up at a nearby National Trust property. The likelihood of there being two Melanie's and Jason's within a two mile radius of each other was remote so we paid them a visit. Indeed it was the same people who had previously managed the Jolly Thresher on the outskirts of nearby Lymm. The food was superb as we knew it would be..Since then, my partner and I have eaten here on several occasions, both for dinner and lunch whilst out walking in the countryside. My partner has just retired and recommends the Bears Paw to her former colleagues. Our latest visit was four weeks ago and once again the food was both varied and delicious. There is a specials menu on the wall in addition to the standard a la carte, and of course you can mix and match from both.We have never been disappointed with either the food or service at this restaurant. It is so good, I would recommend booking 3 weeks in advance for a special occasion, and even a routine dinner for two should not be left until the last minute. Always an indication of a popular establishment and the quality of the reception both culinary and personal that awaits the hungry traveller. My overall opinion :- NULLI SECUNDUS. Google it!

This was our second visit to the Bears Paw. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The menu is varied and plenty to choose from, plus the specials board. My wife chose the homemade cheese and onion pie and I had the beef stroganoff. Delicious. The portions are generous, so on this occasion no need for a dessert!. They also have a early bird menu served until 7pm. The wine list is good too. They also have two real ales on offer. It is advisable to check availability of tables. At weekends worth pre booking in advance. Would definitely return in the future.

Food very basic, looks like microwave veg. Beef overdone, service bad. 45 mins waiting for food despite asking three times and going to bar. Asked for a second drink at table but it never arrived and I gave up !!! Staff are pretty clueless and inattentive, probably worst in Cheshire.
