Lovely old building in the heart of Sandbach, the interior has been totally refurbished with a stylish modern look that works perfectly with the old architecture. The bar and dining room are located on the ground floor with additional seating to the rear and a a lovely looking garden/courtyard area with seating. We were visiting for Sunday lunch although I understand that this is also a very nice boutique hotel and is perfectly located for exploring this beautiful old town. Sunday lunch was very good, perfectly cooked tender beef, proper roast pots and very well cooked veg, actually a very good price for the quality not much more than a pub lunch. Service was friendly and efficient, overall an enjoyable experience and afterwards a stroll around the old town, a really lovely old market town.

Stayed here for 2 nights and from the moment we walked in the atmosphere was amazing. The room was beautiful and so comfortable with a lovely view onto the High Street, the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Would highly recommend the Staffordshire oatcakes. We had lunch there on the Friday and we both had the local pies. Wow, I've never had a pie like it. Amazing. The whole place from the service from the entire staff, to the quality of the food, the loveliness and cleanliness of the room and the selection of drinks on offer you cannot fault. We will definitely be back, very highly recommended.

We had our christening at the wheatsheaf and it was fabulous. A massive thank you to Liam and Amy who were fantastic, they went above and beyond and couldn’t be more helpful. Later in the evening, they did run out of a specific beer and wine, as well as having to stop service which did disrupt the party in order to clean glasses & “reset”so my only fault would for the evening team to manage this better. I highly recommend the curry & pulled pork, the chef was fantastic and amazing portion sizes. All in all, we were happy and our little one had a great day.

We booked several rooms as accommodation for my nearby wedding, rooms were spacious & exceptionally clean. I decided to get ready here so we were granted early access to the room which we were very grateful for. We then reserved an area for our guests to have drinks & nibbles at whilst we had photos taken before our evening celebration, I believe the service & food was excellent & they were able to accommodate different dietary requests. Finally, breakfast the next morning was delicious with plenty of choice. Overall, it was a great experience so thank you Wheatsheaf for contributing to my wedding day and special thanks to Liam for ensuring everything was sorted and ran smoothly.

Visited for a Christmas Eve lunch. The atmosphere was lovely however the food was poor and disappointing. The starters were great but then the rest of the meal was poor, especially considering previous meals and just how good the starters were. The vegetarian main was pretty bland and boring. The other mains were ok. They were just ok. Nothing special, had a very mass produced element to it and generally were very poor to previous visits. We were all left feeling very disappointed with the food and have said we would not be returning for another Christmas Eve meal. It’s a shame as the food normally is very good. I’m hoping this is a one off but I won’t be visiting again any time soon.

The blonde waitress at breakfast was extremely rude. We accompanied my grandma and grandad to breakfast after they had stayed in the hotel and we were told they were too busy to accommodate us. This was understandable as we hadn’t booked the additional guests, but the way we were scolded in front of the other guests, when we hadn’t said anything or even sat down was extremely rude and upsetting (especially when two of our party were staying in the hotel). We visit for food and drinks often and recommend the rooms to family members staying over so to be treated so poorly is upsetting. She is never particularly friendly when we visit, but on this occasion she was extremely rude.

This was a pre-Christmas meal with friends. One of them has had a really tough time this year, and due to the treatment cannot swallow solids at the moment. Therefore before we arrived, we requested a soup but was smooth, but one thing we forgot to say was it couldn’t be spicy or tangy. When the soup arrived - spiced parsnip it was lovely. however, due to my friends treatment, anything spicy is a no-no so I went to The Bar and spoke to Holly arranged for another soup to be made. The other server was Erin she also was extremely nice and understanding. We had a lovely evening and my friend was able to have something to eat

I think it was Liam that took us through the booking in process and then explained what had been put in place to transport us to Pecks Restaurant in Congleton. The room was fantastic. A little more than we would normally pay but with being locked in for the last 18 months we thought we would push the boat out. Plenty of space, great decor just a bit disappointing to see confetti from the previous occupants in several places. The transport (arranged and paid for by The Wheatsheaf) arrived exactly as plan and picked us up to bring us back.Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. All in all a very satisfying stay in a way above average establishment. Had a lovely evening at the Wheatsheaf. It was a warm day so we sat on the terrace which was amazing with great patio heaters. The food & cocktails are excellent & the service exceptional. I would definitely recommend.

I took my mum out for the first time since isolating. I picked the Wheatsheaf because of the covid compliance. My mum thoroughly enjoyed her visit and felt safe. The food was fantastic and the staff were friendly. I would thoroughly recommend. We both had steak which were cooked and presented perfectly.

It was great to return to our favourite Sunday lunch venue after lockdown. Staff were very friendly and efficient and even remembered some of our favourites. The meal was excellent as always. Probably the best Sunday lunch in the area.

We stayed for a night as stopover for a journey from the Lake District. All communication with Jake was easy especially as we had to defer the trip by 12 months from 2020 due to Covid. Rooms were modern, very clean and quality bathroom accessories and a Nespresso machine too!! Also being over the main restaurant were very quiet. Food was Gastropub standard and good value. Staff were super friendly and efficient and Covid guidelines were all being followed.

We had a fantastic celebration. Steaks cooked to perfection, great service and a really pleasant atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble including bringing out the cake, plates, singing and packing the cake up afterwards!

Whether you are traveling north or south on the M6 near j17, or fortunate to live anywhere near Sandbach, a visit to the Wheatsheaf gastropub is highly recommended. My wife and I celebrated my 75th birthday and step 3 of the roadmap by enjoying an exceptionally good lunch at the Wheatsheaf today. The fillet steak with shallot and Stilton sauce with truffle and Parmesan chips is worth traveling many miles for! I understand the rooms at the Wheatsheaf are equally outstanding!

Whilst we can only dine outdoors I was rather cautious about attending as didn't know what to expect on a chilly and possibly rainy evening! However I was pleasantly surprised as the outdoor dining was completelynsheltered and with lovely warm heaters which made all the difference! In fact we are looking forward to returning for outdoor dining even when we can dine indoors! The food is slightly pricey but tasted excellent, I had the thai green curry followed by warm chocolate brownie with white chocolate sauce and was 10/10. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Family of 4 first time out in 14 months, the outdoor area is really great, felt very safe and open but at the same time sheltered from the elements with heaters ! The staff were all professional and friendly, a couple of them need to get better fitting masks (as they kept falling down while they were serving). The food was good, but it would be even better if they had some lighter menu options (salads etc) and a better vegetarian selection it’s a heavily meat based menu ! Overall though a great venue with good food and service would especially recommend if it’s your first time out like us :-)!

Visited on Sunday evening for a family anniversary. The staff were fantastic, the food (Sunday roast menu) was absolutely first class. The Wheatsheaf in its current form has been a great addition to Sandbach high street and it feels great to be able to get back out and support businesses that are trying so hard to stick to the Covid rules. The Wheatsheaf is a great venue & deserves all the plaudits coming their way.

Excellent COVID secure arrangements with seating under cover and heaters at each table/booth. Food was delicious, bacon and Brie served on seeded batch accompanied by salad. All freshly prepared and served quickly. We were looked after by a really helpful and pleasant young woman who was patient with our dithering over the menu! Enjoyed a gin and tonic, own brand which was excellent.A really pleasant lunch. Thank you.

This was a first time visit as a family group Was a bad customer experience journey as asked for a table of six - a young girl asked her colleague if they was a table of 6 where she rudely answered her colleague and pointed to her to seat us over there - where we was directed to so we sat down we explained we were waiting for 2 members to join us. Table set for 6 we were there for 10-15 mins when then we was told quite rudely that this table is booked . We were then told we could sit at another table which seem like a function room where we were those the only people in menus more of less thrown at us no place settings lights off so dim and dark. And cold Decided after being treated as thou we were an inconvenience and made to feel very uncomfortable we left but I did mention why we was leaving with the staff and look like the manager was there when I was saying first time in the pub and certainly the last had the girl arguing saying you said 4 and it was my fault more of less take or leave it. Shame as the food and pub was on recommendation- As Robinsons pub are always are a good but Wow what rude staff

We found this lovely pub a couple of months ago and we’ve now returned a few times for food. The staff are always welcoming & friendly, and we thoroughly enjoy the homemade food, and the Sunday roasts. We love the steak & ale pie, chicken tikka masala & the lasagne. The location is also beautiful.

Both had a Sunday dinner, roast potatoes were more like boiled, never seen a roasting tin or any oil, a dish of vegetables arrived, cabbage was mushy, carrots were definitely recycled. Only plus was the food was piping hot, would definitely not recommend sorry
