That was surprising! We happened to come in relatively late on Sunday evening without a reservation and were greeted and served very friendly. Questions about the menu were patiently explained to us, so we were happy with our choice of dishes. Without exception, all the dishes we ordered were very tasty and tasted of different flavors. We are very excited and will definitely come back. Thanks!

We had an exceptional meal at The Banjara. All our food was delicious, hot, fresh & the portion sizes were generous. The restaurant was nicely presented & the staff were very welcoming, attentive and personable. They made our evening - thank you all. We have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant. Tasteless and watery, even the yoguart dressing was watery ! Will not have a take away again.

We went here tonight for my wife’s birthday. The service was really good and was served straight away. The food was brought out all together so no one was waiting. This is the only place I go for an Indian

Lovely visit, friendly staff. The food was beautiful my fresh, which a great deal mid week. We really enjoyed the atmosphere here whilst also enjoying a complimentary Baileys at the end of the meal. I will be visiting again sometime soon.

I last visited Banjara in 2023 and decided to eat there again this year and to see whether anything had changed since my last visit. I was delighted to see that things are just as good as I remember them. The atmosphere in the restaurant was good - busy but not too much so. We were welcomed and provided with excellent service throughout our dinner. The food was excellent (from a varied menu) and I thought very reasonable pricewise. We were delighted all round and have no hesitation in strongly recommending Banjara to others.

Love it, great food, great service, when we ate in they gave us a free spirit to drink like indian restaurants used to do years ago. Newly opened and fresh decor. Love this place, update on my review, been here so many times now ans wouldn't go anywhere else !

We love everything about the Banjara. The food is amazing and so are the staff. Not to mention the 40th birthday party we had at the restaurant, all went over and above to accommodate us and even joined in celebrating with us. We cannot recommend this place enough. 😊

We just popped in on the off chance and were greeted by friendly staff ,who attended to our order very quickly and efficiently, drinks were ordered and we did not have to wait too long before our delicious meal arrived ,which we really enjoyed ! Will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Tenterden in the future . Great meal very nice surroundings.

We visited Tenterden early evening for something to eat and found Banjara. The menu had a good choice of meals. We had the Banjara mixed platter for 2 to start. This was perfect. For main I had Lamb Tikka with salad which was tasty. My partner had the Mixed Sizzler main with pilau rice and a garlic nan bread. He said his meal was lovely. We had a lovely meal, staff were very attentive, the price was very reasonable. We will definitely be returning and would like to try a a spicy curry next time.

Stayed in Tenterden for two nights during our trip to the south of England and ate Indian food for the first time. It was all very fine. The papadam with the different “sauces” was amazing. The garlic naan bread was delicious. The Chicken Pasanda was very good, but a bit too mild for me. Would eat here again at any time. Petra from Switzerland

I ordered king Prawn Medium curry. It was not KING PRAWNS , they were small prawns and had NO TASTE what’s so ever, so I had to order some hot curry sauce to give it a taste. On our bill they added an extra glass of wine, that was not ordered, but took it off the bill when we complained. Our first time in this restaurant, very disappointed.

Very friendly staff on collection, however our curries had zero spice at all. My mum is very sensitive to spice and even she noticed there was absolutely nothing in her meal. My dad got a Dansak and it had the spice level of a Korma, and that's coming from me who generally can't tolerate Dansak level of spice. We weren't expecting to have our heads blown off with heat, but having not even a slight spice sensation in our meal was a bit disappointing. Seems that a lot of these Indian places still have the idea that a lot of White Brits can't eat spicy food? Not sure.

Another amazing meal and exceptional serviceat the Banjara. They cater for all diets too. Would definitely recommend 😊

Always very good. Have eaten in and had takeaways. Service is always quick and friendly and food always tasty - haven't found anything I haven't enjoyed yet. Banjara Lamb is my recommendation.

Thank you very much for the delicious food. This is my favorite place. Yesterday was my birthday and I chose Lamb Sally and Rabbit Bhuna and Chicken Biryani which I highly recommend you try. Jay was the guy who greets you with a smile and made my day happy too. I'm a chef and I know how much effort goes into each plate of food and how one complaint ruins my day. This place is great and I have never been disappointed and will continue to try every magical dish they have. Thanks to the chefs and all the staff. Food was brilliant. Only had a takeaway so can’t rate “atmosphere”. However, we were excited to get delivery to our village and it arrived hot and well packed. We enjoyed the dishes and there was enough for leftovers! Thank you Banjara

Good food, good service for take away. Not yet sat in to eat but looks ok. Since writing this review we have dined in and it was very good. Great friendly service and didn't feel rushed. Today's visit was for a take away and it didn't disappoint.

First time as we were visiting Tenterden Very authentic dishes made with fresh spices and chillis. Onion bhajis were spot on....crispy and soft inside, not dripping in oil etc. Service was very good. Recommend

Good food, interesting menu and good size portions. Staff are very friendly and complimentary drink for all at the end of the meal. One or two of the dishes were slightly bland.

Thought we would have a treat and try one of Tenterden’s curry houses . the banjara isn’t the one with a zero star on the food hygiene ratings. We ordered a takeaway something spicy for a Friday night. What we received was most tasteless curry I have ever experienced. The meal wasn’t even piping hot and I only live 2 minutes away. As always Tenterden’s restaurants have let the town down again

It was really disappointing with food. Had a lot of hope to get authentic flavours, but rather than that, I got a chance to experience hospital food (absolutelybland food). I'm not trying to be harsh, but the chicken tikka biryani had absolutely no taste. Rice was like barbecued. Did not feel it was fresh rice. Keema naan had like the least filling I've ever come across. Pilau rice was soggy and could not even taste it. Chicken chaat and aloo chaat has less salt, so the flavours didn't even come out. The best food from tonights menu was the poppadoms and it was the star. Sorry, but I had a lot of expectations from you guys when you pay nealry £60 for 7 small dishes. Note: reply to the comment from the shop. Sorry, we took the food home for a reason, and the answer for food being cooked for british taste still dont clarify as the opinion was actually given by my british partner. Sorry, I forgot to clarify that the food needed to have some salt.

Wished they served Pani Puri and chilli paneer but I loved everything they did make especially the venison dish. Never had Indian that does game so quite interesting and very tasty. Thanks jay for a lovely evening. See you soon!

Honestly top notch food and the manager in there could not do enough for you. Don't live that ear but definately be back for sure. Great selection of dishes and smashed my locals.

A really good venue only 14 tables so not overly crowded with a very extensive menu, all our food was expertly cooked and everything arrived hot and on time. Very friendly and helpful staff a real gem of a place. Well worth a visit and I shall definitely be going back. Highly recommend

Worst curry of my life Having very little choice of Indian takeaways in Tenterden I decided to opt for one that at least had a food hygiene rating !! What a mistake , swimming in fat, an excess of onions to bulk it out , a shortage of spices, chillies and chicken made this the worst curry of my life , and that is saying something (I never leave reviews) so for me to take the trouble is something I don’t do lightly.I may of course have been extremely unlucky!!!!

i went here last night in a party of four, we have been here a few times before, never disappointed, excellent service & food and all the staff are lovely if you have not already been here you don`t know what you are missing!

Delicious dinner with wife and son: Palak paneer Aloo gobi, Masala Korma Tandoori Chicken, Tandoori roti, Mango kafti / icecream Tea. Warm and courteous service!

So the food was good and service was good and we were happy they acknowledged my partners birthday ( nice touch) would of got a 5 star review if it wasn’t for the fact we assumed that if we went Wednesday night it would automatically be classed as the banquet night which it states on the menu but after being charged £186 I thought it was wrong so I enquired the next day to be told you have to tell them you want the banquet night to get the discount ( who knew). We only chose Wednesday cos it was cheaper but ended up costing an arm and a leg.

The staff very helpfully accommodated us for a meal last minute on a Friday night without a reservation. The food and service were excellent. I accidentally left sunglasses at the restaurant and they posted them back to me free of charge. Could not ask for a better experience.

We found this restaurant by chance and thoroughly enjoyed a meal here. The menu is extensive, and the food we chose was excellent - full of flavour. Service was just right, and the overall experience made for a lovely evening.

Gezien de banden met India wilden wij een keer goed Indiaas eten. Tot nog toe viel het altijd wat tegen. Om van alles wat te kunnen proberen besloten om alleen voorgerechten te nemen. Uiteindelijk zes voorgerechten genomen. Ze waren allemaal goed en ik durf ze echt aan te raden. Personeel is vriendelijk. Voor een milde pittigheid gevraagd. Dit was prima. De gerechten bleef je daardoor goed proeven. Als wijn chenin blanc erbij gekozen. Is een goede aanvulling van de gerechten. Jammer dat we hier niet naar terug kunnen anders zouden we dat zeker doen.

I was really looking forward to trying out some authentic Indian/Bangladeshi cuisine for our weekend trip over at Camber Sand with my family. However that came to a huge disappointment, the dishes deviated from the authentic taste. There was hardly any salt sprinkled on any of the dishes which made the dishes flavourless. I can't understand why the chefs are not trying the food before they have them prepared and ready to serve. Surely they lack the craft of a skilled cook. Worst part of the experience after going through my bill by which I have never encountered any other Indian restuarants was to be charged for the condiments that came along with my papadoms. It is the standard of any Indian restuarants to serve condiments as a complementary along with the Papadoms. If you are going to charge for something, you shouldn't serve it on the table if it hasn't been ordered and then have the customers scratching their head thinking what the extra charge is for. I found that to be low in courtesy and embarrassingly stingy. Overall I found the staffs to carry a polite and respectful attitude throughout.

I visited Banjara on 27/03/2023 and ordered a meal take out for me and one of my children. The staff were very professional, helpful, friendly and Great with children. The wait for the food was not long and the food was very tasty, plentiful, very high quality, price was very reasonable to. Me and my little family will definitely visit again. The staff were exceptionally helpful in finding a good combination of dishes which complimented each other and which were not too spicy for a 4 year old child. The chicken in the Chicken Korma sauce was plentiful, and both that, the sauce and the onion bajis were all exceptionally tasty. We can't thank you enough for your excellent service, very high quality tasty food which was not expensive. Your menu choices are exceptionally good to, providing customers with different tastes, plenty of options. Thank you so, so much.

We had such a fantastic meal here last week and would definitely recommend it. The two of us ate our fill for £30 which I found very reasonable and we absolutely loved the food and friendly service.

The food is well cooked , but has toned down the dishes to an English palate too much. As a result lacks authentic tastes.

Very nice food and impeccable service

We booked a table of 4 as part of my wife's birthday celebrations and were really impressed with the quality of the food. It was tasty, non-greasy and reasonably priced. The waiter apologised for a delay in service which we had not noticed; in fact there were only two of them waiting the tables as they had staff absences to contend with but both waiters achieved the perfect balance of being available when needed but not being over attentive. We plan to return many times.

Curry was great, but my arse was in a right state in the morning so be cautious when going for a vindaloo. Overall great night and will definitely come again! Maybe for a safe option so I don't have to replace the drains!
