Went to Malvarosa on a Wednesday night with some friends and it was a big beautiful hearty homely meal, and a very enjoyable evening. We ordered one or two small plates for each of us, shared some paella, and then went through the whole dessert menu. Food was excellent. Delicious, and cooked and plated right beside us in the small kitchen area. It was exciting to see the measured theatricalilty that goes into creating the dishes, now that they have been perfected through years of service. Among the small plates, I believe we liked them all. The aubergines were great. Chicken, fish, prawn, all were tasty. Loved the gravy on the meatballs, had to order extra bread (which was excellent as well) to soak it all up. The paella was fantastic as well. Special mention goes out to the Choco Loco (coffee with coconut rum and cream) and the Churros (comes with excellent thick chocolate sauce - with just enough bitterness) and the basque cheese cake (just the right hint of sourness). All in all a very enjoyable meal. It strikes the proper balance between being a reliable neighborhood restaurant but also a quiet special place. Recommended.

It’s not often I’m stuck for words! We walked in and had the most beautiful welcome ever from the girl with the blonde curly hair. I could instantly tell the food was going to be good, you can just tell sometimes. The atmosphere was unreal. The food was a taste sensation. Please please go here. If you like food, tapas, sangria to die for then go here. Absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to come back ! Love Libby xxx

I have enjoyed visiting this bar, with it’s great selection of ales, several times on visits to Chester in recent years. I was looking forward to doing so again on my visit this week, indeed I had planned to spend most of an evening there, before and after a South Indian meal at the delightful Coconut Grove across the road. I was therefore disappointed, if not disgusted, to be turned away from the Cellar Bar, early in the evening, because it was shut for an (apparently regular) private session for the landlord’s friends. Although it has bars on two levels, neither was available to we lesser mortals and I was not allowed a drink. I fully understand that it is a publican’s prerogative to decide when he opens and who he serves, but in my seventy something sober years I have never been treated in such an off hand and insulting manner by someone who has been happy enough to accept my custom and my money in the past. All was not lost! There is an entirely pleasant and comfortable pub across the road, with an interesting, if less expansive, selection of ales and a polite and helpful barman, who I was glad to visit both before and after my meal. His hostelry can be assured of my future custom when in Chester, with no need for me to darken the doors of the up itself Cellar Bar again!

Delicious freshly cooked food and great service. Walked in on Saturday evening and managed to get a table. Check out the reservations on the website as they do two sittings - 6pm and 8pm. Highlights for us were the cod fritters and gambas. All staff were lovely and gave great advice regarding the dishes - 7-9 between the 3 of us was perfect. Ambiance, music and setting of the restaurant were all ideal. Would love to return to this restaurant when next in Broadstairs.

This is a hidden gem!!! We came in as kitchen closing but they couldn’t be more accommodating. Never rushed us and Becky was amazing with her hospitality!! The food was phenomenal. Manuel the chef and owner came out and made sure we were happy and well taken care of. We stumbled app. this restaurant while visiting our daughter. We are from Sourh Carolina. Must visit!!!!

We hadn't been in awhile but thought we'd stop by for a drink and a couple nibbles as we always enjoy the food there. The service is usually great too in the restaurant section but since we weren't having a full meal, we thought we'd try sitting in the bar section. It wasn't a great experience unfortunately. The food and drinks were spot on, but the service was pretty poor. We weren't greeted when we came in, we had to ask for menus and service. The barkeeper wasn't very friendly and kept telling us to wait when there were only a few people in the bar. No smiles, and to then have to pay a service charge when the service wasn't great, it was slightly disappointing.

What an absolute beautiful place. It’s back to being the great venue it used to be. The customer service was outstanding, and the drinks were exactly what I was looking for. Nice the see this team understand the importance of customer satisfaction. Well done Sam and his Team.

We had a lovely family get together here with family visiting from Portsmouth and Plymouth. Everyone was delighted with the quality and choice of food available. The atmosphere here is so warm and friendly and you are made to feel like family by Antonio and his lovely staff. Would highly recommend a visit here for any occasion.

An excellent restaurant, very friendly host and tremendous food. Everything was beautifully fresh and very tasty. The Lamb shank was sublime and the meat fell off the bone it was so tender. The mushroom and cheese starter was rich and creamy and tasted delicious. The chocolate torte was rich and intense and wonderfully complimented by the gelato. Finished off with coffee and a copa of Torres. Well worth it but you must book as it is understandably popular. Antonio is a great host, very attentive and good fun.
