Square View Restaurant

Woodburn, Carrickfergus
11/12/2018: Well presented traditional cuisine in nice surroundings looking out of the cricket pitch. Specially nice in summer.
24/11/2018: Ate here this morning with my son, both ordered the large fry and enjoyed every bit of our very generous portions. All components of fry were cooked perfectly. Staff were very friendly and attentive, and view from restaurant is beautiful. Will definitely be back to try their dinner menu.

Ownies Bar

Killycrot, Carrickfergus, <20£
17/12/2018: A group of friends had meal here. There was a good choice from their A la carte menu and their Christmas menu. The restaurant was comfortable, we were in the more modern part of the restaurant which was spacious with lovely paintings on the walls. Everyone enjoyed their main courses and desserts. As a coeliac there was an good choice of main courses for me - I had Christmas lamb shank which was very good. The only suitable gluten free dessert was pavlova - which was just ok, the fruit was minimal. Staff were pleasant.
12/12/2018: GF options identified on menu an plenty of choice. Cosy for a winters day lunch with your family and a beer garden for summer days

Millside Restaurant

Galgorm, Ballymena
06/11/2018: Three couples enjoyed a first class meal. Steak was ordered by four, and a great selection including Cajun the steaks were cooked to perfection. A chicken dish and a gluten free sweet chilli chicken on a bed of champ filled the plate. This was a good sized portion at a reasonable price in lovely surroundings. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return.
02/11/2018: This is without doubt one of the best restaurants in Ballymena.

Mermaid Kitchen and Bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
03/11/2018: This is by far my favourite restaurant in Northern Ireland the food is to die for, you vacant Never go wrong no matter what you get, the portions are quite big and the way food is served is beautiful, it’s a perfect spot for date, night out, birthday celebration or special occasion. Kids are only allowed on Sunday . This is a must if you go to Portrush be sure to book in advance as they are very busy at the weekends. Toasted bread board is a must starter for me, hake as a main and everything from the dessert list :) staff are super friendly and helpful
03/11/2018: Can't fault this place. Go here every time home to coleraine. Food brilliant, service fan, such an enjoyable being every time. Looking forward to next visit.

Truva Meze

Waterside, Coleraine, <20£
21/11/2018: Came for a meal here on the 13th November as part of the Causeway Coast Food Festival. The menu was vegitarian. Every mouthfull was tasty! When's the next vegitarian evening??
11/11/2018: Ten of us ate here one evening and we had to wait a long time for the food even though we were the only customers. I explained that I wanted a meal without gluten. However, I was sick for a month after eating here and believe that the food I ate here did in fact contain gluten. So, not impressed at all.

The Tides

Atlantic, Coleraine
12/11/2018: The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and efficient as the place was very busy. However, if you book don't expect to be seated immediately. We had to wait for twenty minutes before we were shown to our reserved table. Also, the music blaring out is not necessarily conducive to a relaxing experience. This being said, I would recommend the place.
12/11/2018: Visited here with 3 friends for Sunday lunch. Had reserved and table on line requesting a sea view which was given to us - fantastic views

The Rose Cafe

Portglenone, Ballymena
24/09/2018: The rose cafe is amazing. The menu, the service, the accommodating friendly owners, the quality frys and tasty coffees. I absolutely love the rose cafe and would highly recommend that you stop in for a bite to eat. A bubbly young lady called cathy served me the last time I was in. Will be back!
31/08/2018: A very good cafe, was able to park outside. Food was very tasty, well presented by attentive staff, and good price. Our plates were well filled with food freshly cooked . Will visit next time in Portglenone.

Bushtown Hotel

Macosquin, Coleraine
02/11/2018: We arrived for a two night stay on Wednesday 31 October - we were allocated Room 1. Never in 30 years have we stayed in a more dated room - blanket on the bed with a hole in it! No duvet! The bed itself was not the usual hotel king size but a small double. What looked like a cigarette burn in the carpet and a view of a brick wall. Despite the room hotel guide which said room service was provided there was no telephone in the room!! However we did not complain because it was a very cheap 2 night stay. But then came the breakfast which was basically what I can only describe as barely warm- especially the coffee. On our first night an alarm was activated which lasted for an ear piecing 20mins. We could not phone reception to find out what was happening so I had to hurriedly dress after my shower and go to the desk. We had to leave our room on the advice of reception staff. Dinner on the first night was fine. On our second night there was a power cut! We were told on arrival that dinner was available until 8.25-8.30pm so on the second night we arrived for dinner at 7.55pm to be told the kitchen was closed because of the power cut which lasted about 5mins. We explained we were guests and asked to speak the manager who went into the kitchen - we were then immediately given a table. When our meal arrived it was totally inedible! My chicken was so over-cooked it was actually tough. The bacon mash had burnt bits of cabbage or bacon in it - hard to tell what it was! My hubbys chips arrived with burnt pieces and his Scampi was very over cooked as well. When paying the bill he mentioned this to the waitress and we were not charged for the food -which was very much appreciated. On our last day we left the hotel at 9.15am actually glad to be going home! There may be better refurbished rooms in the hotel so avoid Room 1!
02/11/2018: All I can say is the standard of customer service here is wonderful. I really felt staff went above and beyond for my family and I. I really can’t say enough good things about my experience here. I would highly recommend and the food is really good.

Restaurant @ The Inn at Castledawson

Glebe, Magherafelt
18/06/2018: Visited The Inn and had a lovely meal, can’t fault it, great location, food was very good and service was spot on.It was a shame we were the only people there. The waiter assured me it wasn’t always like this and I hope this is the case as it couldn’t have made any money that night.
30/12/2017: No hassle food prepared , presented and delivered. A small quaint country bar in the Seamus Heaney District. A lot of history in this old Establishment.

The Fern Room

Castle Demesne, Ballymena
02/07/2018: I was visiting Ballymena on a half-day trip from Belfast doing some genealogy exploration in the area. I stumbled upon the Fern Room atop the McKillan shoe store (probably one of the largest shoe stores I've ever been in, btw). I was anticipating a quaint, lacy, antiquey type of tea room, but its more like a cafeteria. Little ambiance. Small salad bar, some hot foods. Honestly nothing appealed to me so I chose a scone and bottle of water. The scone was fine, nothing special, but did the trick for me. Several tables of people (mostly women) who looked to be taking a shopping break. Its certainly well located for that.
15/04/2018: Such a privilege to be able to eat here often. The food is always great with a good selection. The owner of the building that the cafe is in always personally checks if you’re okay with everything and it is always good to talk with an honest man like Thomas. Here is upper class food at its best.

Drumnakeel Herb Garden & Restaurant

Glenshesk, Moyle
