Loved our visit to the Caf and Cow Cafe in Carrickfergus. Had some very nice coffee and some delicious coffee and walnut cake and homemade traybakes. Lovely decor in the cafe with leather chairs, coffee tables, interesting flowery wallpaper and stone fire place which I bet is lovely during the winter time. Hope to get back real soon to try some more.

Went for lunch today in the Brown Cow Caf, the food was delicious and the best coffee I've tasted in a long time. The decor is fabulous and the staff just cant do enough for you. The owner Dianne had a chat with us which I thought was so nice of her. Cant wait to go back to sample more of her delicious menu. This Caf is not to be missed.

The variety of home-made potatoes were a real treat: potatoes marinated in milk before roasting...delicious! Sweet potato fries and home-made chips (crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle)...yummm! We had been told about the steaks so we ordered in advance and they were fantastic! Don't be fooled by the dimly lit entrance. Walk on up the stairs and enjoy a truly unforgettable dining experience.

Saw this Bistro via Trip Advisor and thought we would try whilst staying nearby. We didn't book and dined in the upstairs area (No lift) however we could have eaten down stairs if we wished. Great customer service from the young lady, starters and mains were hot, of a good quality and reasonably priced. Constructive criticism, replace the spill resistant plastic coated table coverings with table cloths (Just my point, may suit others)

The restaurant is continuing to provide quality food and family prices. I eat out regularly in expensive places in Dublin and i have to say that if the Brown Cow Bistro was in Dublin they would be queuing around the block to get in. I had a steak that was delicious, I didnt know what sauce i wanted so the waitress got me both for no additional charge. The service is so friendly and the food is great. You know when you just get that feeling that allot of pride has been taken preparing a good meal and getting it out hot and with good presentation. The Brown Cow Bistro is a real hidden gem. We will be back again and again.

We've just enjoyed a delicious meal at the Brown Cow and couldn't wait to review! We haven't been to the bistro in a few years and, having read the reviews, decided to give it another go. And I'm so glad we did! The restaurant is pleasantly decorated and nicely laid out - we didn't feel crammed in and had room to enjoy our meal. I had garlic mushrooms and a ribeye which was cooked exactly as I wanted, medium-rare, juicy and it melted in the mouth. The blue cheese sauce was a subtle accompaniment which enhanced the flavour. My daughter enjoyed the home-made chips and everything was fresh and made with care. We managed to force ourselves to have dessert - the previous 2 courses filled us up but we couldn't resist! The server was friendly and polite and helped to make our evening pleasant. We will definitely go back!

In response to the review 'give it up, don't bother, I would say don't bother taking any heed of this review, it is true u can't please everyone but given there are numerous reviews about this restaurant that says the complete opposite, what does that tell u folks!! The staff ARE pleasant and it would be ideal if the restaurant opened more nights in the week, I am a fussy eater and believe me the food is as fresh as the day is long, make up your own mind folks by paying the brown cow a visit, you WONT be disappointed!!

Visited the Brown Cow Bistro today for Sunday Dinner. 2 courses for £9.95 or 3 courses for £12.95. We both had pate to start and turkey and ham dinner for main. The pate was served with toast and a lovely Cumberland sauce-this was all delicious! The turkey dinner came well presented, served with veg, mash & a roast potato. This too was a delicious meal. My partner also had room for homemade apple pie, served with custard. He said it was lovely. All in all, we were very impressed with our lovely meal. It was great value and the staff were friendly & efficient. Highly recommended!!

The Brown Cow used to serve great food when Kenny was the Chef it did really good steaks and the place was buzzing. It has been run to the ground by poor food and waiting staff. its only open Thur Fri and Sat now and I assume the food just lies in the fridge during the week. The owner looks surly and very customer unfriendly. Atmosphere is poor. Like the bar downstairs its clearly in need of new owners. and some radical rethinking.

My Wife and I went out to the Brown Cow a couple of weeks ago to try their food out.We were not disappointed by the menu or the food.I had the usual steak pie and chips and I must say that there are many eating places in Carrickfergus who could take a leaf out of the Brown Cows menu and make great home made chips instead of the jumbo tasteless chips that they serve. My wife had some kind of chicken and pasta dish and she said it was beautiful. We will go back as the food was lovely and the waiting staff were very friendly.

The brown cow is a fabulous place to go and have either a few pints or a full family dinner. it has excellent private rooms for parties and functions. The staff were really friendly and went above and beyond to cater to our needs which was a large birthday party that had adults as well as several young children. the food was just gorgeous and the value for money was great. you got so much for what you paid for. location wise, it can be a bit easy to miss on the road but if you find yourselves there, consider yourselves lucky as it is a brilliant place to go.

I found out about the Square View Restaurant as a result of an invitation to Carrickfergus Cricket Club for a family birthday party. I was very surprised by the bill of fayre on offer. It's a family-friendly restaurant that has a children's menu with such items as chicken curry, fries and so on. I ordered an 8 once burger with blue cheese and crispy onion topping, served with a salad, fries and a dip. The cost was £15, but worth every penny as it was an enjoyable meal. The restaurant is open to members of the public and I'd definitely recommend it to others, You should receive a good, generously-portioned meal for around £7 or £8. The Square View Restaurant is very much a hidden jewel.
