Oak Leaf Restaurant in Magherafelt

Showed up after phoning ahead. Waited a few minutes to be seated. Waited another 20minutes for a drinks order to which we gave the food order - food took another 30minutes to arrive so 50minutes all in all since arriving. Turkey and ham dinner was awful - bland and clearly pre made/frozen. My husband said his burger was nice to be fair. Staff never came back at all - I counted 5 members of staff standing about at one point but only 1 of them taking orders etc. terrible service

A quaint little stop about an hour and a half from moville. Teresa, our server, was absolutely delightful and kind, offering quality service for how busy it was. I ended up getting an egg omelet of sorts, and the Mrs was more than happy to dine on some Nutella and French toast. Both of these plated delicacies were quite delectable and scrumptious. I'd be more than happy to come here again. The restaurant lay out itself is quite small, but very clean and demure. The bathrooms were also very very clean, I cannot complain.

Please speak to your waiting staff. The girl who served us this morning was rude dismissive and so unhelpful. To tut at a customer when they ask for a mixture of brown and white toast and say that’s not possible just pick one or the other. We won’t be back

Stopped at the Oakleaf restaurant on the Glenshane road, it is a very well laid out restaurant, and clean, with nice rest room facilities. The first waitress who took our order was friendly we ordered lasagne and rump steak sandwich with garlic cubes. The steak sandwich was very good it came with side salad, coleslaw and peppered sauce. The garlic fries were well cooked but didn't really taste of garlic. The lasagne was dry and the bottom it was burnt, and really disappointing. We had a different waitress clear our plates and when she asked if everything was ok we told her about the lasagne, her reply was "but is was all burnt" she was totally uninterested in our comments and seemed slightly taken aback that we made a negative comment.

We have had Breakfast here a few times and it's always been really good. good food nice staff.

I called in for breakfast with my wife on the way to Donegal. This would be our normal stop off for breakfast and normally we find it to be homely, welcoming and the food excellent. However, on arrival, we were greeted with “table for two” by a young waitress who obviously didn’t want to be in work that morning. Her attitude, actions and general demeanor were awful. Everything we asked for seemed to be a hassle. There was no interaction and the food was set on the table with no conversation. I asked for gluten free bread with my breakfast. The breakfast was ‘served’ and I was told there is no gluten free bread, but I could have a gluten free burger bap. Thankfully the food was nicer the welcome. My wife and I couldn’t wait to leave. Very disappointed with our visit.

This restaurant is the very reason people who have children with special needs don't go out. I have never felt so unwelcome in a place in my life. Party of 4. 2 mums, 2 kids. One child with pretty obvious additional needs. We felt very unwelcome from the get go. Rushed through orders and starters. We asked for kids to be served when ready, as in, don't wait for mains. The pasta was obviously microwaved. It kept cooking a solid 5 minutes after it arrived. My daughter has a burn on her face from the splatter from sauce. When I told the "manager" after the meal she just shrugged and said, you did ask for it right out. In reply to an actual burn on a child's face. No one in the whole place seemed to care when the youngest (with special needs) had the odd outburst, except the "manager". I can't believe in this day and age people still discriminate against children with special needs. But here we are. She couldn't get us out quick enough. Avoid!

I got the roast beef staff are very nice. I found the potatoes very bland.but beef was nice

Went with the family for Sunday lunch. I had the turkey ham dinner it was excellent.... Just needed bigger roast potatoes, oh and the bowls of veg should be per dinner not a sharing. Had two courses perfectly priced

Just ok. If you’re looking for something to eat that’s quick and handy there’s a fairly good choice here. Food is ok , nothing special or fancy. A busy place. Friendly staff.

I messaged this restaurant to let them know to get rid of Contaminated meat that they served last night,but unfortunately they did not have the decency to get back to me. I wanted to warn others so they wouldn't have the same fate I had. As they did not acknowledge my message here I am. Also check out all the 1 star reviews. I ate here last night as a solo diner, I sat for about 10 mins before anyone took my order, no big deal I wasn't in a rush. I ordered the steak pita, it was well over 25 mins waiting for it, once again i didnt complain and that was OK. I did think they'd forgotten about it. When it arrived it was drowned in sauce is the only way to describe it. But overall it was a fairly nice meal. On the drive home I began to feel unwell and long story short I was violently sick with food poisoning. Hours of being sick ended me up in a&e. I would advise avoiding this place based on my experience and the fact that the establishment never bothered to even get back to me to apologise or acknowledge any of it. So hence the 1 star and wouldn't recommend it.

Beautiful food. Seafood chowder was delicious. Lovely dining room with views or the local scenery. Staff were lovely and very helpful.

The only issue we had was they were a bit short staffed so there was a wait for the food. But the food was delicious, the staff couldn't be faulted and a great evening was had!

First time weve eaten in Oakleaf Restaurant. It was a perfect end to a family day out. We checked in around 4.30..a family of 7. The Restaurant is spotless..the food is excellent. Bruchetta and fish cakes were very tasty followed by the most tender slow roast beef and lamb shank. Kids menu is excellent with a wide selection. Our kids had burgers and chicken goujons...they loved them . We choose a selection of rhubarb and apple crumbles plus chocolate cake for dessert. Clean plates all around. I'd highly recommend this Restaurant for its fantastic food and brilliant service.

We went today for the first time, as we are on holiday. A couple and 4 teenagers. Absolutely wonderful service, and food was so good and reasonably priced also. Highly recommend

Turned up to be shown to a table straight away for breakfast service. That's the only positive. Then waited 10 minutes to place and order. The 2 waitresses have no plan and provide adhoc service. Then I waited another 15 and still did not get a cup of tea. So I asked them and they acted confused. So that was it, I walked out and did not even try the food

Went for a bite to eat on Saturday for my birthday, staff were very welcoming and found as a table despite there being two separate first communion parties in. We had drinks while waiting on the food which was amazing and worth the few minutes extra wait. Will definitely be back, thank you 😊

Food was poor example was breaded mushrooms they were the smallest I have ever seen and only 6 with plate packed out with salad. Main course also had a lot of exactly the same salad. Seemed no thought to the food content.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch yesterday, very disappointed, waited nearly two hours for our lunch to be served and when it arrived it was cold, the waitress didn't seem to care as she seemed to be serving everyone on her own. Waited another hour to try order dessert in the end we gave up and left. When we paid for our bill and explained about our 3 hour wait and our lunch was served cold to the bar lady she had no interest, just told us to write to management. We were both very shocked to here how rude we were treated. Needless to say we will never return to The Oakleaf. It has definitely changed, it's not the usual enjoyable lunch spot to stop. Be quicker and cheaper to go to the shop next door for hot food and to be treated nicely. Our Oakleaf days are over.

Stopped here yesterday and was actually very disappointed, my food was cold and very bland. Must be under new management as I've been calling here for many years. Took nearly 2 hours to get my food. Really disappointed, when I told the young lady at the bar she didn't seem to care she wanted to take my money without apologizing. Sadly I won't be back.

Terrible food and terrible service, had to wait for over an hour to order, food very bland and not served hot. Never be back, recommend the Delhi from the shop next door.

First visit and yes the food was nice but not overwhelmingly so, the service was spot on could not complain. The dining room looks a little tired and not vibrant, but the whole place was very clean and tidy. I would return.

Called in for breakfast. Took over 45 min for 1st food to be brought out. It was cold. The 2nd 2 breakfasts were wrong and sent back and told to cancel we didn't have time to wait. But waited another 5min then asked where kids breakfasts where girl went to see said be few mins landed out with 1 I asked her about the other 2 she just looked lost we knew then the kids had been forgot about. Head waitress came over and we complained she wasn't interested just said to a member of our party that she knew to have a word with us. To that we were raging and told her to leave him out of it. Sent email of complaint never received a reply.

I randomly stopped at the Oak Leaf Restaurant on my journey, and I'm so glad that I did. The atmosphere was relaxed, the staff were friendly and the food was excellent. A*** would recommend.

A nice place to stop by for food & drink. The staff were welcoming and friendly & the food was lovely to say the least. There also gluten free/vegan/lactose free options. The only downside was the wait for the food, but everything else was spot on!

Really lovely restaurant. Very friendly and customer service was excellent but not overbearing. The Desserts are home made.We will definitely call in next time on the road to Derry even if we've eaten. Just for a dessert.

Very spacious restaurant with very polite and friendly staff. Ordered chicken coupons which was top notch and a great light meal. They do offer Gluten free options but I did not get a chance to fully experience it. Rated 4 stars as overall a great place. I'm a harsh critic 😅

Stopped on way to Belfast for lunch, there was a group of 8 people. Staff were friendly and the food was very good. The combo starter was beautiful, chicken burgers were very good.

Rubbish. Sat for 15-20mins to get served. Then placed food order, waited another 40mins before asking on it to be told it was forgotten about (‘not put through’). Wasn’t even busy. Children running the place. Not even apologetic that they messed up and wasted our time. Poor form, walked out in disgust. You’re better off going to the garage next door and get something from the deli counter.

My partner and myself stopped here on the way to a concert in june , lovely welcome reception as soon as we walked in ! Had a great chat with the lady working , shes a lovely person ! We had two meals and food was so tasty and really well presented ! Great portions and really reasonably priced we will definitely be back soon!
