The best restaurants in Magherafelt North Eastern NI

What an amazing place! Just like walking into a Victorian sitting room. Very warm welcome. Had a home made pizza (which had tasty home cooked ham in abundance) fries, homemade cake and a bottomless pot of tea. We stayed for ages chatting to the owners and fellow diners. Everyone so friendly and welcoming. We were so sorry we were passing through on a tour of Ireland and couldn't return.

Excellent all round 10/10 great location great hosts, would make a return visit a lot of business could learn a few things from this kind of customer service. Excellent.

Had a delicious brunch today at An Croi!! Staff, location and food are all superb. First class, well worth a visit.

The spicy short rib burger of the week was most likely the best burger I’ve ever had. Genius whoever came up with that combo. Pizza best in the area by an absolute mile too. Many thanks.

Myself and my family have been multiple times, for me it's definitely the best restaurant in Northern Ireland and I hope it is here for a long time to come. We've probably been around 4 or 5 times and the quality of the stews, the meat, and especially the interesting salads that come with it (incorporating fruits like apple and plum) make it like the most delicious roast dinners ever. I've been to Poland a few times and they seem to be the masters of autumn/winter cuisine with lots of roasts, big portions, mushrooms. It's nice upstairs too, they cook downstairs and only have space for 4 or 5 tables so it feels as though you are getting proper home cooking. Think it's BYOB too although we were always driving.

Great little bakery tucked in the centre of the town which caters for sit in and takeaway. Their pancakes and sandwiches are by far the best and freshest in the town for consuming. Cakes and buns are also amazing (try the caramel squares)

Can't say enough about the Flax, from the cosy, olde worlde surroundings, the plus of having a river beside it has to have one of the best settings. Good varied menu with lots of really nice and different choices than the usual run of the mill cafes. Service is exceptional. p.s they do their version of an Ulster Fry which is absolutely a belly buster LOL, my husband had difficulty finishing it and I know I would have struggle to eat half of it. Highly recommend this lovely cafe.

Absolutely fantastic food. The best pizza around and great value for money 👍. Never disappoints.

Stopped here on way to belfast Saturday past for a quick lunch and it was lovely had two soups nd sandwiches nd was very nice , the three girls on the floor were very helpfull and well trained , highly recommend for a handy wee stop

Called here on my way through the valley to Sion Mills and beyond. Sampled their scones and tray bakes and they tasted as good as they looked. I understand that most, if not all, are baked in-house. Will certainly call there again should I be in the general area.

One of the only places we found open after 8pm, we really enjoyed their chicken strips and chips (fries). The two ladies making the food were really nice, and closely watched the food cooking so it wasn't overdone. Probably the best fast food meals we had while in Ireland/Northern Ireland, and super reasonable prices. We had 4 good size pieces of chicken and fries for around $10.

Perfect from start to finish, but it always is. Everything from the moment we arrived made it the Perfect weekend getaway. The food is exceptional, the service is attentive, warm and friendly and never far away if needed, but never OTT. My partner and I go to Ardtara at least 3 times a year and can't recommend it highly enough. We have only returned home from Ardtara and looking forward to making plans for our next visit.

First visit and it was really delicious and very filling. Service was fab. I ordered a cocktail but they were out of 1 ingredient and said i could try without and send back if i didnt like it, it was beaut 🍸 tried a 2nd they were trialling and it was a delight. Pizza, loaded fries cocktails and choc pudding were all first class. I will definitely be back.
