Can't say enough about the Flax, from the cosy, olde worlde surroundings, the plus of having a river beside it has to have one of the best settings. Good varied menu with lots of really nice and different choices than the usual run of the mill cafes. Service is exceptional. p.s they do their version of an Ulster Fry which is absolutely a belly buster LOL, my husband had difficulty finishing it and I know I would have struggle to eat half of it. Highly recommend this lovely cafe.

Visited late afternoon yesterday. Very friendly staff, spotless, tables well spaced and lots of atmosphere. Very good choice on menu and food was excellent, delicious chicken goujons and best chunky chip ever. Would certainly recommend and will be back.

This has been our second visit and it was equally as delicious as first time, all locally sourced produce and with great presentation. Service and atmosphere is a credit to the owners

We visited here as we had heard it was under new ownership and had heard good reports . The reports were true . The place was spotless and the staff were very friendly and professional. After a short wait we received our meals and they did not disappoint. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Upperlands area and we will certainly be returning next time we are up that direction .

Lovely coffee shop in the heart of Upperlands village. Good choice of meals and treats and the coffee is lovely. Very friendly service, they went out of their way to accommodate our group. We called ahead for our group of eight and they had reserved and dressed our table for the festive season. A good steady flow of customers added to the warm, friendly atmosphere. Would recommend a visit (and a traybake).

Avoid at all costs! Police always there and bad goings on inside. A bad reputation as can be described by the locals. Rude staff!

Not happy got a takeout for the kids the chips were cooked in dirty oil. The colour and taste was completely unacceptable for £6. I wish i had checked inside the containers before I left the building.

Went for lunch as passing through the area, place is lovely inside, staff were really pleasant and we got seated quite quickly. It was busy so we didn't mind waiting for our food. However the food was really disappointing as it was nothing like it was advertised on the menu. We ordered the prawn tachos, Bombay potatoes and teriyaki sticky rice with salmon. The prawn tachos were just wraps & not tachos, the wraps had a weird smell & tasted horrible and not edible. The Bombay potatoes were just potato wedges and had no "Bombay'' or any flavour, or anything on them as advertised on the menu at all. The teriyaki dish was what seemed like normal rice (not sticky rice as advertised) and the plate covered in so much sauce. We didn't want to make a fuss so paid and left, paid just under £40 and we left very disappointed. Wouldn't recommend the food here, the main menu is very misleading and the food is nothing like it states on the menu (unless it's breakfast, hopefully they can't go very wrong with that!)

Food was great, barman was great, waitress was very rude to our table, won’t be back.
