The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in West Midlands

I called into this establishment three years ago with my elderly father whilst on-route to Ludlow. I had often passed this Cafe and that day I decided to try the food. In retrospect, wished that I hadn't stopped. And judging from the current reviews from others, I can clearly see that nothing has improved. There wasn't anyone in when I entered and the lady behind the counter (presumably the owner) wasn't of the welcoming ilk. Her 'froideur' didn't run well with the cafe and she made us feel downright unwelcome. Her whole 'being' seemed to generate an awkward atmosphere that made you feel more like a minor inconvenience than a customer. That aside, I stayed and ordered. Our order was taken by a man who I assumed was the husband. He was more personable and approachable and we ordered a breakfast. I made the profound 'faux-pas' by asking for scrambled eggs which earned me the almost shocked response of 'I'm sorry, but Debs doesn't do that'. (Cue the distinctly awkward moment that makes you feel that you're in a bad Terry and June BBC comedy sketch from the 1980s.) The whole dining experience there was a farce. The meal wasn't the best nor was it enjoyable in such drab and unwelcoming surroundings. The greatest comedy value for me were the signs dotted about saying, 'Ask Debs' if you require anything. Oh, the sheer irony of it! Ask a woman who doesn't want to make even a modicum of conversation with you. My only conclusion to this absolute travesty that attempts to pass for a 'cafe' is simply to avoid it. When on the A49, please divert your eyes away from 'Debs Cafe' and drive on. I'm sure that other establishments will give you a far better welcome than this miserable place.

Second time I have been here on a Sunday both times between 1pm and 1.30 and both times closed when it states closes at 4pm

Booked for 6 people, name on reservation not only wrong, but nothing like the person who booked it. We had all ordered pies, arrived on cold plates (a pet hate of mine) and for those who ordered the steak pie there was a separate jug of Gravy, which my wife duly poured onto her pie, only to find that she had poured cold gravy over our food, others checked and all pots of gravy were cold, although these were replaced, and my wifes pie kept warm or nuked, there was no real excuse provided... Pies filling were inconsistent, understand that this is hard to control, but mine had no carrots a few mushrooms and some steak, my wifes had no mushrooms but way to many carrots and stated the steak she did have was not quality and chewy, another's steak pie was inundated with mushrooms. In saying the above those who had the Tikka pies were impressed by them, so not all awful. In all not a very enjoyable experience and will not be returning.

Stay away from this place at all costs! I wouldn't even touch this place with pole anymore. Food served out of a shipment container that is FILTHY and cigarette ash everywhere. I had a sandwich from here and I was so ill after for a couple of days which I can only assume was food poisoning, and it wasn't even a good sandwich, it was pretty terrible honestly. I have also known SEVERAL people to get ill after eating from this dumpster of a place They should be shut down ASAP, this shouldn't be allowed, to server this LOW QUALITY of so called food. Unless you want food poisoning and awful quality bland food, then this is perfect for you.

Great venue, great menu. Food terrible. I like gammon but this was the saltiest gammon I've ever had ever. Missis is a vegetarian, had mushroom burger that looked like road kill and couldn't cut it with a chainsaw? Not sure if it was old jack fruit but it was like the core of a ran over dog chew. And expensive!? Got £2 knocked off??

went for Christmas day dinner with our family.booked for 2pm.At 2 35 we had starters.was told main was being plated up.at 3pmsaid they late.we asked what was goingon the waitr made more excues,walking on laughing.people were seated and was told meal was being plated.it was disgusting.my husband and are pensioners .at 4.15 we told them we were leaving and not paying for a meal we did not have.to our shockwas from our daughter who had booked got the families meals at 5 15.they put our mealsin to contaners as a takeway.top it all chareged her £62.00 for the meals we didnt have.it spoiled our christmas day.we will never again.also will not recomend anyone to go there.

Any Greg’s shop most staff are so unhygienic as they handle money and food. They don’t even wash their hands. They should have one person taking money and cards the other should prepare the food. They should not deal with money and food, and where are their basic food and hygiene certificates. They should not be doing the job they are doing DISGUSTING

The bacon rolls we had on our visit was so hard they could nearly break your jaw. The staff where taking ages to serve just a few customers

We popped in for a large breakfast and a medium breakfast to takeaway after reading good reviews on just eat.The girl told us it would be about 10 minutes as she had to cook it fresh which we didn't mind.After 15 minutes she came out from the back to ask how we wanted the bacon cooked.My partner asked for well done and myself medium.When we finally got the food we went home and opened the boxes,it looked disappointing but decided to try it.unfortunately the bacon was smoked and undercooked,the mushrooms were burnt,the hash brown was soggy,the black pudding was almost raw and the toast was warm bread with a blob of butter in the middle.Absolutely disgusting and won't bother again.
