Great venue, great menu. Food terrible. I like gammon but this was the saltiest gammon I've ever had ever. Missis is a vegetarian, had mushroom burger that looked like road kill and couldn't cut it with a chainsaw? Not sure if it was old jack fruit but it was like the core of a ran over dog chew. And expensive!? Got £2 knocked off??

The Shrewsbury Arms is one of those traditional pubs with lots of nooks, crannies and little snugs. Add a roaring, real fire and it is cosiness at its best. There were the ubiquitous tellies on the walls for sport but, in much more traditional vein, there was also a large selection of board games for those of that persuasion. We were happy enough just to enjoy our beers by the fire, which felt particularly luxurious on such a freezing cold evening. Service was nice and this is a really good pub.

My twin boys and grandmother visited Cadalders at Trentham estate today and as per the last 8 years went to purchase a child’s teddy cone ice cream each - when asked what flavor they requested the dairy free vanilla due to a lactose intolerance they were told that it was not possible to have a teddy cone with this ice cream type and only if they purchased a full adult cone! I am appalled that despite being challenged at the time the answer was “that’s the rules, feel free to eat a normal ice cream!!!” so you are prepared to make a child seriously ill or demand additional monies – either is unacceptable, unethical practise and you should be utterly disgraced to operate your business in this way.

Called in today for a lunch , usually I have a morning Cappuchino and delicious teacake but today went for a Cappuchino and Cheese and onion toasty which was delicious! Came with an ample pot of Coleslaw and salad Lovely Crusty bread, I also had a "small" glass of the House Ros which was one of the nicest I have tasted and fully complemented the meal.
