We have been a few times and this visit was excellent as usual. A few practical things first. Very easy to find, relatively large car park with on road parking if necessary. Dog friendly. The food was really outstanding. For mains we had the special venison dish and the scampi. For desserts the millionaires cheesecake and the lemon trifle, both were excellent. The service is always good and prices very reasonable. We will definitely go again.

This appeared to be the only café open in Calstock when we went, so it’s not much to say it was the best cafe in Calstock, but it probably is …. Warm welcome, great coffee, extremely clean toilets (not often mentioned but hugely welcomed), tasty snacks! Highly recommended Thank You!

Sat nght fish n chips, perfectly cooked lovely fish in thin properly cooked batter. (Chips could have done with another min) Sun carvery, the best carvery I honestly have ever experienced. Had beef, pink, lean, beautifully tender, pork also moist tender with crispiest crackling. (Offered ham/turkey also). The veg, wow, so many from cauli cheese, red cabbage, roast parsnips, roasties, stuffing yorkies, gorj gravy, even the sauces tasted homemade, apple, horseradish. Take out boxes available which meant I ate part2 the next day (sm appetite). Only suggestion would have been having gravy boats by tureens so could get a top up. Staff all super friendly, delightful, landlord checking everybody ok. Wish I wasnt going home on sat.

Having recently moved to the village infact directly over the road it seemed rude to not try The Boot Inn out. And thank god we did. What a brilliant place in-fact our favourite in the village. We have been made to feel so welcomed and we feel we have made good friends for life not only the locals but everyone at The Boot. We had Sunday dinner a couple of weeks ago which was amazing. I’m vegan and they even cater for me which was spot on. Due back New Year’s Eve for another meal Highly highly recommended. Not sure why some of the older reviews are so negative. It’s certainly not the experience we have received so I would ignore those it’s absolute rubbish

This is a lovely little pub with a big open fire. The landlady is very friendly. There is a village market held here on the second Saturday of every month and there is karaoke every first Saturday of the month with a very friendly atmosphere
