Five of us went for Sunday carvery at the Edgecumbe and all of us enjoyed it . We are not regulars but all of us have been several times before . It has never been so good as now . I dont want to be too complimentary as that will mean even more people go there . Mid November and it was packed , with most having the carvery . Really good .

We have just had our second Sunday carvery at the Edgecombe Arms. I can not stress enough how wonderful it is. We tried the beef on both occasions and complete compliments to the chef, Delicious . The owner is really friendly as are all the staff and the service is exceptional. We would especially like to thank Leah , who on a very busy day with lots of big groups needing their food, managed to find my husband and I a quiet little spot for 2. All done with the most radiant of smiles. We totally recommend this pub x

We stayed for a long weekend at the Edgecumbe Arms and it is now at the top of our list for a short getaway. The pub is in a unique location on the edge of Mount Edgecumbe park where the river Tamar meets the sea. This gives you access to the coast, the riverside and the countryside, all from one place. In addition, the attractions in Plymouth are only a short ferry ride away. We enjoyed costal walks, river trips and a walk around the shops and cafes in the Royal William Dockyard. Wherever we went the place was beautiful and steeped in history. There was so much to do that a weekend is definitely not enough to explore all that the area has to offer. We booked a riverside room in the pub and it did not disappoint. Spotlessly clean and decorated to a high standard, the room had everything we needed to be comfortable and more. In addition, Dan and his team did their best to look after us and nothing was too much trouble. During our stay, we became fascinated with the river and the comings and goings of the ships, boats and ferries. In addition, we spent time watching the wildlife on the river, and even looked out of the window to see a seal one morning. We ate in the pub both nights of our stay and were impressed with the food. The fresh mackerel was a particular favourite. In addition, there was a good choice at breakfast. The breakfast was cooked to order and arrived in plentiful quantities. There has been a pub on the site of the Edgecumbe Arms for centuries, and with its fascinating location and warm hospitality, we can see why people would want to stay there for a long time to come. We will certainly be back.

Brilliant find. Lovely location, great family atmosphere, good beer and fabulous carvery. I’m veggie and the veggie option was spot on. Boys are carnivores and loved their meals too. Meat gravy and vegan gravy. Fresh veg, gorgeous cauliflower cheese. Best carvery we’ve had. Staff are fabulous too. Highly recommend. Came this morning for a break from the Rugby World Cup but still wanted back for todays games. Thought we’d have a swift couple before getting the ferry back only to discover with great shock and surprise that the landlord were announcing that tonight would be the end of trading and the pub would close. This is a famous, popular and very enjoyable and useful pub overlooking the widest and most attractive part of the Hamoaze estuary of the Tamar. We’ve been coming here for decades. Drinking in the old style interior or out on the benches right beside the river is a great way to pass the time. Maybe there will be more news and detail on this breaking story but all we and the other customers were told was that there have been an horrific run of thefts from the premises and that rising costs have made trading unviable. Everyone was asking whether this is just an indeterminate pause, whether there might be new management or the pub sold off maybe for conversion but nobody could say. We hope that the site and appeal of the pub will main that the closure might be very short but it was all a bit bleak today.

Stayed here for a couple of nights for a wedding in Polhawn Fort. The pub/hotel is massive - 6 rooms upstairs and a big bar area with lovely wooden panelling and an open fire. The staff were great - friendly and helpful. The food was very good too - big breakfasts plus we had lunch one day - superb mussels and beer battered cod. The location is an odd one - it’s basically at the end of the only road in Cremyll - and handily right opposite the foot ferry to Plymouth. I just wish the weather had been better as the outside looked great too - will definitely come again

We stopped off for lunch: I ordered the fish finger sandwich and my husband had burger and chips. The fish in my sandwich was yummy but I was disappointed that my £11 cod sandwich was made using supermarket white sliced bread. My husbands burger was raw inside…not ‘slightly rare ‘ but raw mince. I’m assuming that it was cooked from frozen as we were told that the temperature had been checked before service. I don’t understand how the temperature was ok but the mince inside was red raw. To be fair staff were apologetic and replaced with a new burger, which was better. Given the choice we’d have preferred a refund. Waiting staff were really friendly but the owners could do with investing some time doing some weeding out the front. It’s a captive audience here; perhaps if they had competition the standard would be higher.

He gave us a table in the window with a lovely view of the flower hangings and the water. Between us we had kids fish chips and peas, adults fish n chips and the bacon cheese burger, all amazing and cooked to perfection. We tried the local beer 'Korev' Which was very tasty!!! Decor was very old skool - loved it and the staff we spoke to were very friendly and smiley. What a pity that the management has changed. Dreadful people skills by the new team. Totally disinterested bar staff, asked what lagers they serve, barmaids answer: 'Don't know'. Not even the offer to go and find out, unacceptable service. Barstaff in huddles talking amongst each other, absolutely no interest or possibly a smile for the customer. Drab dress too. No acknowledgement of the very good live music being performed the guys might as well not even have been there, the way they were treated. What a difference in attitude to the previous management, a lot of training in customer care is required here!

The sandwiches we were served had mould on the bread. The roast beef was like leather. Children's portions are way too big, adult sized meals for a 4 year old. Even though we ordered a children's egg and chips we were told it came with ham, though our granddaughter doesn't eat ham, the staff said they couldn't take the ham off the plate. Admittedly the mouldy meals were replaced and the second beef was much better. At no time did I ask for a refund, but equally I would have expected an offer of some kind for this disgusting service, but no. I will never return and strongly recommend others to avoid.

A hash meal prior to the Firework display. Menu is so reduced I was hard pushed to make a selection. My husband and I had Shitake Mushroom pate, stone cold from being stored in the fridge, unappetising and tasteless. There was something on the side which looked like dead slugs and to be honest I think it was a shredded mushroom but it was also tasteless. Husband had egg ham and chips for main, not much you can do wrong you might say, so why send it out with an overcooked egg! I had the crispy duck leg, yes it was crispy but was also dry and tough. A piece was so solid it scratched my throat as I swallowed it. It came on a bed of sauté potatoes which were dry and overcooked, hoisin sauce was seriously lacking and a mere sprinkling of chilli and spring onion. It is a shame that the pub has not returned to its former glory, they are operating a reduced menu due to Covid but the place was packed and heaving with people wanting to eat. They appear to be concentrating on catering sausage rolls and cake! I am sure the place will eventually get back to its former glory but can’t say I want to eat there again in the near futurePlus point is the staff who were amazing

Enjoyed a three day break here. Nice room and comfortable bed. Liked the decor too. Booked late and struggled to find anywhere in areas we know so thought it would make a change to stay in a new area. Downside it’s stuck out with nothing around for the evenings which isn’t great as last orders at 9pm with no provision for residents. The foot ferry to Plymouth is right outside which is fun however stops running around 9 too, so evenings are an early night in front of tv! As we walked a lot in the day we were tired so not too unacceptable! The food was nice, best fish and chips and I even ate the mushy peas as they were posh minted ones, (I never eat mushy peas as a rule!) breakfasts nice but don’t start until 9 and took around 30 minutes from ordering, so don’t plan for an early start. The young staff were all polite and friendly. Overall recommend but won’t be back as too isolated for us.

Lovely stay at the dog friendly Edgcumbe Arms in Cremyll. Staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The kitchen staff definitely need a mention too as the food, ingredients and portion sizes were absolutely amazing ! Thanks so much

Stopped off after driving back from Polzeath having been turned away from pubs along the way as we hadn’t booked. We’re glad they did! The Roast Beef dinner was up there with the Mariners in Rock which we love( but a lot cheaper) . Everything cooked perfectly. We used to come here a lot a few years ago and now we’re looking forward to catching the Ferry over to visit again, hopefully when it’s not raining !!

Location is great if you want a quiet time as there is very little to do in the evening after the park has closed. The pub closes at 9pm so not able to have a drink on our return as there are no arrangements in place for residents. The ferry to the Royal William Yard was a godsend as we were able to eat out there for 3 nights out of 4 as the menu at the pub is very limited. Only problem is that the ferry stops running by 9:15 in the week which means that when returning to the pub there is nothing to do so you have to go to bed which is not very good when on holiday. The room was a good size and clean. Unfortunately, we had no large towels for 2 days so we had to use hand towels to shower. There was no hot water on one day but was rectified fairly quickly. The one morning I was woken up before 8:00am by the window cleaner washing the outside of the pub which was not ideal. If, like my wife, you are a light sleeper do not book room 1 as it is directly opposite the bus stop and the queue for the ferry so you get woken up early which is not the fault of the pub. The staff are nice enough but they are a bit slow taking your orders and then delivering your drinks or food. They apologised a lot for being slow and for the lack of stock and staff. I paid £500 to stay here for 4 nights and overall am disappointed with what I received for the money compared to other places I have stayed.

We stayed just the one night in the superior king-size bedroom as we were visiting Mount Edgcumbe Park. The location is excellent, right next to the park and the passenher ferry to Plymouth is just over the road. The room was spacious and clean, bed very comfy and the shower (no bath) was supplied with toiletries. There was a great view over Plymouth Sound. We had the sharing seafood platter which I'd rate 3/5 due to small quantities for 2 people and the bread was a dry sliced loaf.Apart from this the full English breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly and attentive. We would definitely stay there again.

Don't bother...I had to buy a packet of chips to get change for parking so I could eat here, and the attitude of the lady behind the till was a disgrace......if I hadn't had so long for my food I wouldn't have needed change for the bloody parking machine

We booked in advance which was done in a professional way by the young man who answered the phone. Were asked whether we wanted to eat outside or in. Opted for inside as although it was a beautiful sunny and warm day, there was an easterly breeze. Most tables outside were full which was great to see. It’s a great place to sit and watch life on the Tamar. Inside we sat by the windows so still had a good view.We had my 90 year old Mum with us, 3 other adults and a dog. Greeted with a warm welcome and drinks orders taken quickly. We ordered some olives and my husband had the crayfish salad to start, followed by The Edgecumbe Burger, 2 fish and chips and I had the GF crayfish salad with a side of chips for my main. Wow! We were so impressed by the food, especially the size of it ( the fish looked like mini dolphins! ) and the presentation. The burger was juicy and one of the best my husband has eaten. Chips were chunky, and very tasty, no grease at all. Delicious! Must also thank the very attentive and polite staff.I can 100% recommend and we’re intending to return very soon.

Unfortunatle we had booked our stay nearby for the week before 17 May so could not sit outside and eat and were unable to book a take away as they were closing early. I can't blame themas the weather was horrible and would love to have eaten there as the menu looked good. Maybe on out next visit in August and I wish them well for the rest of the season

Came down mid-afternoon weekday late April. The EA was open for outside drinking (and possibly food) with several bench picnic tables between the road and the Hamoaze and more in the triangular beer garden against the south eastern end of the pub facing the ferry landing. During our 45 minutes there was a gentle turnover mostly of older couples, never more than a dozen at any one time. We saw at least three staff outside policing the mask, separation, and tracing rules as well as taking orders, serving and collecting payment. Not difficult? They were smartly dressed, very courteous and keen to ask if we were happy.. But it took a while before anyone asked if we were customers and asked me in to give contact details, then a longish time before another person came to take an order and another gap before the beer came. Meanwhile at least two maybe three sets had to go to the door and wait to attract attention to pay with visible anxiety that they were going to miss the ferry back to Plymouth. We were under no such pressure, having driven round but it just seemed a pity that despite lots of information signs and clear instructions, these likeable apparently earnest staff just didn’t get it to gel. It’ll be more difficult at weekends but maybe there’ll be more staff then.Still a very good place to kill time to watch the shipping, check out the view and relax away from the city hassle and traffic.

What a gem! We had no idea where to go for lunch but chose the shed; a great choice! The steak was so good and the sole cooked to perfection. Great wine, appetisers and dessert to boot. Fantastic value and the service was great Thank you so much.

The staff were friendly, the service was prompt, the food was good. It's about as good as you could hope for from a family friendly restaurant at the price that it is.

Absolutely wonderful visit. The cream tea was the best I think I’ve ever had. Warm scones, huge pot of cream and delicious jam, must be homemade. The tea was piping hot and came with an additional tea bag should you like it strong.
