I have been here a few times. It’s a bit overpriced for what it is and where it is. The first two times i went i got the burrito, which was really nice. However it comes with a poached egg and i asked for a runny yolk and it wasn’t runny (no big deal). The third time i went i got the meatballs and pasta which was really poor. It was a few very cheap meatballs with some penne pasta and tomato based sauce. It was very similar to what i used to have at school at lunchtime, certainly not worth the £8.45. On one visit my friend got eggs royale (which should always come with runny yolks in the eggs). He asked for the yolks to be runny anyway just to clarify. When the food came the yolks were hard. He then queried this with the waitress who told him that next time he needed to request “extra runny yolks” which i thought was a bit cheeky to be honest. Overall i don’t think i’ll be going back. The staff are a bit odd and not very accommodating and the food is overpriced and nothing special.

Lovely atmosphere, amazing pastries and cakes. The dogs in daycare are just adorable and you can have a nice and relaxing break from work petting them. The place is nice and clean, full of colours and happiness

Absolutely terrible experience. Was charged way over the odds for a pretty standard breakfast Friend had pie/mash which she found horrible. Bland and cold. Also on a visit to the toilet after eating I noticed loads of mice droppings in the toilet. God good I’d eaten before or I would have left straight away. Disgusting Won’t be visiting again

I only had a coffee but it was shockingly bad. It was INSTANT. I asked for a cappuccino and was give some awful brown slop in a foam cup (the foam cup made it taste even worse). If i left it for a few minutes it would develop a skin which i could pick up. This happened twice (see photo). In the end i threw the “coffee” down the sink and tried to forget about the whole thing. I didn’t have the food so i can’t comment on it but my friends got a couple of sandwiches and i didn’t hear any complaints. I just don’t understand why places think it’s okay in this day and age to serve such bad coffee. The only reason i gave it two starts was because the coffee was nice and hot.

Great pub with a good atmosphere and a good roast dinner on a Sunday. We had the roast beef and it was delicious. Staff were really friendly and attentive and made you feel welcome. Felt like the place had a real buzz about it over lunch. Will have to go back on an evening to see what it's like.

This place is in a great spot with. Lively big green and has such potential to be a heartwarming community pub, but their arbitrary rules around children and dogs have meant that this long-time Sydenham local will not be returning. They are very clear that children are not welcome, I came separately with my dog on a hot summers day to join a large group of adults and children (some of whom were my own) and was instantly told that dogs were not allowed in the garden, when I lightly joked with the bar man that that was a silly rule he looked over to the children I was with and said, ‘and children are not allowed to walk around either, but that’s our rules’. The children in question were walking to the toilet… They made us feel most unwelcome for having kids, all of whom are well mannered and we spent a lot on their overpriced and underwhelming pizzas. In a very family friend area this is bizarre behaviour especially to a larger group who were ordering a lot of food and drinks. The Dolphin should take note of wonderful pubs like the Perry Hill just around the corner, which has incredible food, a children’s playground, friendly staff and who are genuinely welcoming to dogs.

A family friend from Australia worked 2 shifts with this pub and has been shafted for his pay. He was fobbed off by the owner several times. I have been in twice and left my number as staff behind the bar say that don't have the owners telephone number. A total disgrace.

Rude and disrespectful staff members who couldn’t care less about their customers. I’m not one to leave reviews but after my recent altercation with 2 of the staff members in Cobbs Corner, I just had to. I came in and was immediately greeted with an angry face telling me ‘kitchen closes in 10 so you’re gonna have to hurry’, and was then told ‘nah, juice machines off so I can’t make any juices’. If these things were said with a decent attitude, I wouldn’t have minded. But the body language and general attitude of the girl serving me was terrible. In the end I told her to scrap the order, to which she shrugged her shoulders and said ‘fine’. Her colleague who was enjoying her lunch at the other side of the cafe decided to pipe up and say ‘she doesn’t have to smile for you’. All of this infront of other customers who are trying to enjoy their coffee. Honestly, I came in here for some lunch, not a fight with two of the staff members on a Wednesday afternoon. Really terrible service from two people who shouldn’t be working in customer service if they think it’s not important to smile.
