Went in this little cafe place as chance , and wow, breakfast was delicious! Great selection of items on the menu and selection of cakes too! Can’t fault the service too! Will definitely return to this little gem when we are back in Edinburgh!

Hanams was one of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh so I was excited to go back. I assumed it was going to be the same as the menu hadn’t changed much. It appears to be run by different people now who aren’t from the Middle East. The food is nowhere near the levels it used to be. The lamb was overcooked and the chicken didn’t have the authentic clay oven charring. It was almost like it had been cooked in an air fryer or oven so seriously lacked flavour and not what I was looking forward to. We ordered prawns for main which arrived with no bread and a small amount of salad. Not really what you expect for a main meal, especially given it was about £20. The Halloumi fries were quite nice but nowhere near as good as they used to be. The place was empty on a Friday night which I think tells you this place has went downhill as it used to be difficult to get a table at the weekends. Despite being empty we had to go up and ask for the bill as the service was poor and the staff weren’t very attentive. I’m afraid I won’t be going back, which is a shame as I used to love this place.

The hospitality here was second to none. I felt like I was in a family owned cafe, off the beaten path on the Continent. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and they were some of the best I evet had. I'm frustrated that we didn't discover Luscious until the last morning of our stay in Edinburgh. Well worth a visit.

Met a family member for a coffee and a chat. After paying was surprised to see I'd charged for a 'tip', a 'service charge' whatever., but I'd paid before receiving what if ordered. Good customer service should be 2nd nature and not because the staff member has been paid extra to do so, up front! If the customer thinks it's been a good experience & feels the staff member deserves a tip then that would be at the customers discretion. I get it, it's not a well paid job so tips help a lot. However if the staff you have are the type you really want to be the face of your brand then they should make every customer feel special, Happy customers breed happy reviews online, to friends, workmates, tourists etc and help you grow your business with positivity. The coffee and everything else about the visit was great so don't take above as a criticism, it's merely an opinion. Money is tight all round so paying extra without prior knowledge can have a knock-on effect.

Young white guy with blonde hair was so rude the moment I walked in. He was the only one at the counter and took forever to take my order even though he was doing nothing. I ordered a pastrami on rye dine in and got it toasted. After patiently waiting 30 whole minutes at my table, no sign of my sandwich (which was already made and all he had to do was toast it). I walked up to him and asked where it is and he looked like I was an inconvenience to him. He asked annoyingly “what did ya order again” and then took a sandwich from the bar and started toasting it. He then rudely plopped it on my table with no real care. Not once did he apologise or admit his mistake. The sandwich itself was okay but definitely not worth the price. There were barely any pickles and it was toasted so poorly - it was as if he put it on the toaster for only 10 seconds. While I was there, I also witnessed another incident where an older woman politely told the same waiter that her food was served cold and he didn’t apologise and begrudgingly took it back to the kitchen. He brought it out again and the woman complained that although her food was hot now it was a mushy mess that looked inedible. He looked so annoyed but thankfully the manager took over and apologised repeatedly with great professionalism. In summary - average and expensive food, extremely rude and uncaring waiter, but manager was empathetic and caring.
